Absolute snake in the grass. This guy acts like your best friend when you're paying almost $300 to fix absolutely nothing!!!!! I had a 1TB and he took 500 GB. He said he had to to fix it . Nothing got fixed!!!!! Games were slow, I got ERROR MESSAGES Shouldn't we have a test run when you pick it up? (My fault I trusted him) Then I come back, not even two weeks later, with my warranty in hand, which, by the way, is also a bunch of bullshit. just now BUYER BEWARE! -- Don't make the same mistake that I did! Kevin gladly accepted the challenge to repair what was determined as Lightning Damage. 2 or 3 days went by and I received a call from Kevin. He sounded REALLY disappointed to inform me that he was unsuccessful in his attempt to repair my device, stating that the damage to the board was greater than anticipated. He let me know that I could pick it up anytime and I would need to bring the $45 to cover the cost of performing diagnostic testing. Not a problem, as this was agreed upon prior to any work being done as a part of the contract you're required to sign at the time of drop-off. A small bit of suspicion arose when he demonstrated the symptoms for me by taking me to the back area of the shop to plug up the device at his workstation. As expected, there was no image displayed on the screen, but I noticed a clicking sound from inside the unit that was not present at the time when I dropped off the XBOX. When I questioned him about it, Kevin informed me that the clicking was a result of the issues related to the lightning damage. However, I found it odd.. being that I plugged the device up several times before bringing it into the shop and it was always whisper quiet. I work in the IT field and it immediately sounded to me like a hard drive failure. As he was processing my payment, I distinctly remember him saying to me.. "That was a special XBOX, huh? Expensive." -- to which I replied, "Yes, it's the Gears of War Edition. 2TB. Makes little noises, etc." and then he asked me what I was going to do with it. I told him that I contacted insurance, but they only cover an estimated value, so that is what brought me in to his business. He assured me that insurance would likely take care of it, and he sent me on my way. But the clicking bothered me.. Why was it clicking all of a sudden? It didn't click before. The issue was with the HDMI, not the hard drive or anything else. I just found that to be kinda weird, so I went online to see if I could garner a second opinion. I found a place in Oregon called TronicsFix (https://tronicsfix.com) that claimed to be able to fix almost ANY broken console, so I went ahead and gave them a try. I would ABSOLUTELY send any future console issues, etc. to TronicsFix again. 10 times out of 10. They texted and emailed me as soon as my device arrived, and sent me screen shots of the inner workings of the device to show me what happened. Unfortunately, they too were unable to repair the console, but what they uncovered when they opened the console is what prompted me to post this lengthy review. 1. The HDMI Retimer Chip was "completely gone" -- I texted back, "when you say completely gone.. Do you mean "failed" or missing altogether?" -- MISSING ALTOGETHER. Huh? How?? 2. "The clicking noise you heard is the hard drive. It is definitely faulty." -- Ok, stop. How is that possible? The hard drive was fine. After texting back and forth. I asked the people at TronicsFix to tell me the capacity of the hard drive. They took a picture and sent it to me. As you can see.. This is a 1GB hard drive. Type "Gears of War Xbox One Console" into google and tell me if you can find a 1TB Xbox One in the Gears of War Edition. You won't. Why? Because they don't make them like that! This is when my earlier suspicions came back to the forefront. Did Kevin really remove my HDMI chip and swap out my WORKING 2TB hard drive for a faulty 1TB hard drive? He sure did. But why? And why did he ask what I was going to do with it? Makes sense now! He knew that the console couldn't be fixed, but the inner parts would be salvageable and definitely reusable in his line of work -- so he kept them for himself. That's not cool. Better yet, that's STEALING! To make matters worse, he charged me $45 for the diagnostic fee! As soon as I found all of this out, I immediately gave Kevin a call. The repair was back in late July, so I expected him to be a bit cloudy on our transaction. What I did not expect was the barrage of questions and the defensive tone he took towards me. He basically said that he didn't know what I was talking about and asked me why I waited so long to reach out to him. If you have an XBOX, you will know that you can't just pop it open with a flat head screwdriver. It was not until I had the technicians perform the second opinion that I was able to determine what he had done. I was so upset that he was not taking responsibility for what he had done that I told him I would just file a complaint and he just brushed it off, saying OK and hung up. I called back. I asked him if I could email him the pictures that were sent to me, and maybe that would help to refresh his memory. He provided sales@apex-computer.com as his email address and I forwarded the pictures shown here to his email. No response. At this point, my only recourse will be to do what I can to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake that I made. Beware! read more

I am so thankful that I found Apex Computer Inc on Yelp after my PS4 started malfunctioning. I called ahead and spoke to the owner who was very straightforward but also incredibly helpful. It took about a week total for my PS4 to be repaired a few months ago and it has been working great ever since then! The cost of the repair was fairly competitive and reasonable and the diagnostic services (determining the problem) are free if you decide to have them complete your repair. I believe it's around $35 for consoles if you do not choose to have them complete your repair. I definitely recommend Apex for your repair needs! read more

I have sent people to use them and used them myself. As with any technology it's allot like operating with blindfolds on. Mac will not send out any repair schematics and sometimes can even repair items themselves. I have taken MAC's and Xboxes there for repair. The owner is great and knows what their are doing. The only reason I am not giving this place one star is because my machine is fixed and appears to be working normally so far but this is only day 1. Check back for the update. LOL! I was double charged for my computer repair. I told him what the problem was and if his estimate would have included two options... 1.)paying for a cleaning $75 AND complete keyboard replacement $175 or 2.) Paying to replace the keyboard that we already knew had something spilled on it for $175 I would have chosen the second option and avoided potentially wasting $75. However, his decision to clean first seems to have been monetarily motivated because at the end of the day he is the only one who benefitted from the failed attempt at cleaning. Overall, I am not satisfied with the service because I do not like shady business practices. Just tell me it's a $250 repair from the beginning and I would have appreciated that way more. Then I would have been fully informed and could have chosen Simply Mac as a better repair shop near me since their quote was $250 for the same repair with a nicer, well lit shop and quicker turn around time and none of the smoke and mirrors. This shop is capable of making the repairs just be sure to cover your bases about the dollars and cents. Be sure they will. :-) He offered to play a recording for me to prove that I okay'ed the repair. lol Cool out dude...here's your money. I will not be a repeat customer nor will anyone I know. Thanks and have a nice day! Update: 92 days later the same exact keys on my laptop stopped working again. Seems a little suspicious that on a machine with a brand new keyboard the same keys have stopped working with no damage to the unit. Contacted Apex and they said bring it in and we will look at it and repair it for 50% off when asked if I can have the contact information for where he bought the keyboard so I could check and see if they would at least replace it for me free of charge he started yelling at me, called me a liar and hung up the phone in my face. Beware! Do Not Do Business with the guy unless you want to get burnt. He is very unstable. Just read the reviews people. Go to Simply Mac if you want to save a little. read more

My Xbox 360 was shutting down with two flashing red lights. Google suggested an overheating issue, but it was barely warm, so it looked like it wasn't just an acute case I'd be able to cure on my own, but a hardware compromise. Unfortunately it was way out of warranty, and it'd be $140+ for Microsoft to fix it (not to mention how long it would take to ship it and wait for them to repair it). Surprisingly there's few local options for game console repair, but I found Apex online. Its in a barely-noticeable industrial office strip but the owner was friendly and clearly knew what he was doing - he had shelves full of consoles he was repairing, and another guy showed up to have his Xbox fixed while I was there. After explaining my options (short-term fix vs. long-term fix), the owner fixed it the same day and covered it with a 90 day warranty, which made me pretty happy. One quick note - their website says they charge $50, but thats ONLY for the short-term fix, which he explained involves redoing the soldering that has cracked from the heat and caused this particular issue. In other words, if you want to get your 360 working again for cheap even if the problem reoccurs, that's your option. If you want "the works,' which includes having them install a better-quality cooling fan and replace some parts that aggravate the overheating issue caused by Microsoft's shoddy design, then it's $100. That's still cheaper than Microsoft or buying a whole new console. I will mention that the fan they put in is LOUD. It doesn't bother me yet since I use a headset when I play, but if you watch Netflix or DVDs on your Xbox you will definitely notice it all the time. The owner said if I want to switch back to the stock model fan, I can do so under the 90 day warranty he gives, but I haven't decided whether I will. All in all, if your Xbox 360 is on the fritz and out of warranty, Apex is your place. read more

Fast and reliable repair! Friendly service and great owner! I had a problem with my PS4 HDMI port. No signal was being transmitted to the TV. I used them to fix my imac - it broke within 2 weeks again and they charged me again. Both times the computer had the same issue failed to load the operating system. They claimed they changed the hard drive and the second time he blamed it on a sensor. However, both times he "had" to reformat the hard drive. I am very suspicious to what they exactly did to my computer and I was charged twice within a spam of 2 weeks. I will not use them again. read more

If you're in the lawrenceville/lilburn/norcross area, this is where you want to go to get your electronics repaired. I had RROD on my 360 and brought it to Apex!. They fixed it in one day and tossed on a 90-day warranty to boot. Turns out my xbox had some deeper problems and brought it back well within the warranty timeframe and they repaired it again, sans charge. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. the owner is a racist!!!!!!!! I went in here based on yelp review and trying to fix my computer. He told me that I need to fix screen for 159 so i said okay Three days later I went in bc he said it was ready, and I saw my laptop was way off on colors. My adobe icon was almost black. So he told me he'd install another screen and five days later he called saying I have an another problem need to pay another 75 dollars. At this point, I told him I wouldn't have made a decision to fix my old laptop if I knew I need to pay 250. He got so angry at me saying we dont live in korea and we live in america ( when I obviously am more American than he is) and he told me fuck you. He yelled at me constantly and cussed me out. Ive never got treated at any place this badly. If he wasn't happy with my response, then he shouldve negotiated his terms instead of being a racist. I'm about to go pick up my laptop now and I'm honestly scared to death that he might pull a gun on me. ----------I just came back n he told me that he was not being a racist and he just assumed that koreans think everything is free. According to race and society 101 class i took at college, having presumptions about certain race and discriminating against that race is called racism. I told him why I felt that he was being a racist and his exact words were "racists call racists so you must be a racist." Which makes no sense and made me speachless. He also told me that he said fuck you to me because he was pissed off at what I said which is probably the most unprofessional way to react in when youre doing business. I might be one unhappy customer but good luck to him running a business with that kind of business strategy and customer service in most korean saturated city. So my son's PS3 would not ready any disc so I decided to take it to a local shop who claimed to repair PS3. This store said it would take 3-4 days torapir. However, 30 days passed and I heard every excuse in the book-- part is on back order, wrong part came in, new part is coming...you get the picture.
