Free chips and dips are amazing. The bean dip is especially good. Drinks are great. Food is always delicious.

First, the food isn't that great. Second, the prices are outrageous. $23 for two margaritas?? C'mon. But the worst thing is the way that we were treated when we were there. MIL called to reserve a table for a birthday celebration. The owner called her back and rudely told her that they'd honor it, but they don't do that. When we arrived the staff wasn't all that friendly and the service was so-so. My MIL & wife were given their dinners on (3 tacos) on tiny appetizer plate, so it was a mess. Meanwhile my burrito arrived on a plate the size of a serving platter. The final straw was when the manager/owner shooed us off our table at five minutes after finishing our dinner. I just don't understand the love this place gets. There are WAY better places to get that kind of food. I'll never go back. read more

Was in Appleton for school and was recommended this place by a friend. The noise level can get loud here - maybe just the design of the space? Anyway - tried the jalapeño margarita and it was superb. Strong, not too sweet, great spice.. just as a margarita should be. Opted for the enchiladas with shrimp with red sauce. These were good overall - the red sauce was maybe too smoky tasting for me? Not bad just not at all a traditional red enchilada sauce, which I think they should emphasize on the menu. The enchiladas also were not very cheesy as most places are. The sauce is very spicy (great) and also quite smoky (meh). Would've liked to have perhaps tried the verde or the cheddar based sauce instead. Lots of small pieces of shrimp inside though and the rice and beans were tasty. Also appreciated the portions of the rice and beans- not ridiculously large. Overall come here for a margarita or two for sure and maybe get sauces on the side for the enchiladas. read more

We were craving Mexican food and decided to give Antojitos a try. The food was outstanding and in large portions. Great beer selection. The food was fresh, hot, and very well presented. We entered from College Street, but sat in the back in what I would call a bar area. It was almost a totally different vibe than the front area. Music and a livelier feel than the dining room. Service was awesome, absolutely nothing wrong with the service. Food was ok, quality was good. The prices are a little steep in all aspects. Small portions, which I like personally, but for what they cost they shouldn't be that small. The margaritas here are by FAR the weakest margs I've had in some time. The tequila they use in them is not good stuff either. I want to know what it is so I make sure I avoid it. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant after a long day of shopping at the Fox Valley Mall. Not being from the area, we really didn't have an idea of good Mexican restaurants in the area, but, we were staying close and Antojitos Mexicanos received high ratings. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant was boisterous, which gave us hope that the food was great. (If the restaurant was quiet with few customers, we likely would have had other thoughts.) I was impressed by the breadth of the menu and the side dishes. There was a lot to choose from that goes beyond your typical Mexican fare. I ordered the Hawaiian burrito with Chipotle sauce, with grilled cactus as my side. The Hawaiian burrito was good, but the the flavor was taken away a bit by the heat of the Chipotle sauce. I didn't expect it to be so hot (and I typically like spicy food). The grilled cactus -- which I've never had before -- was good, and reminded me and my wife of green beans. My wife, who ordered a combination plate, was very complimentary of the food, which included two enchiladas and a chimichanga. We both got margaritas -- her a crushed ice, fruit flavored and me a straight up, on-the-rocks. Her's was over filled and spilled all over the table when it arrived, and mine was incredibly strong. I like tequilla as much as the next guy, but the strong tequilla taste too away from a what could have been a well-blended drink. Over all, our visit was good. The prices were reasonable, and the food was good. We will likely return when visiting Appleton in the future. read more

Possibly my favorite restaurant in Appleton! Everytime I go, this place seems to have gotten better! The staff is always lovely and the bar in the back is so cool. The free chips and salsa/beans are amazing but then you get to your full meal and you're just blown away. Their shrimp tacos are out of this world and everything else I've tried has also been insane. Clearly beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While visiting family in the area, we decided to try Antojitos. The family said they had a questionable experience the first time they were there, but we decided to give it another shot. Maybe they were just having a bad night previously. Well unfortunately they were having another bad night during my visit. On arrival we were greeted by stone faced hostesses who could barely mutter a greeting. We were then placed at a table where we all sustained knee damage while trying to sit. For some reason this restaurant has a table in it that by design does not allow you to put your legs under it. We literally had to sit with our knees spread open at 180 degrees. This is neither comfortable or a good look so we requested another table. We were literally dismissed and told to wait for another table or get a table in the bar since they are first come first served. Thankfully a party in the bar was leaving and we sat down again. About 12 minutes later a server finally arrives and takes our drink order. Everybody's order but mine. She just turned and walked away as I was waiting my turn. About 10 minutes after that drinks finally appear and she places one in front of me. I hand it back to her and say, "This isn't mine. The reason I know it isn't mine is because you never took my order." She mutters incoherently and asks me what I want. About 10 minutes later, I'm finally served a drink. That makes it 30 minutes into this experience and we haven't even ordered dinner yet. We order chips and guacamole as an appetizer. About 10 minutes later they arrive, but the guacamole is not prepared tableside as the menu indicates. Whatever. Time to order entrees. This time the server remembers me and I order a burrito... something nice and simple, relatively hard to screw up, and should be pretty quick. About 20 minutes later food arrives. Everyone's entrees are served to them on plates, but my burrito is served to me on a wood cutting board and has already been cut in half. What is this? Wood cutting boards can become easily tainted with bacteria and generally speaking are pretty gross. Who thinks it's a good idea to serve food on them and who cut my burrito? Never in my life have I been served a cut burrito before. So the server basically just drops the food on the table and splits. I don't even have the opportunity to ask for a proper plate. By now I'm just completely irritated by this place and stop the first employee I see and tell them to bring me a plate. I get one and take my first bite. The thing is stone cold in the center. You'd think that since someone actually cut it in half they would have felt it was cold. They either didn't or served it anyway. This begs the question. Was this food not made to order? Did they just throw something in the microwave? How would the center of a burrito not be heated if this was made to order? Now all I can think about it how long this food was sitting out and how old the meat was. The server never checks on us during our meal. When she finally arrives with the check she asks is something was wrong with mine. I told her it was cold when it was served. She asks if I want something else. I tell her just the check so I can get out of there and go eat dinner someplace else. No manager ever comes to the table to offer an apology. No apology from the server. Nothing. Also during this time two people in our party are basically blinded by either cleaning chemicals or pepper fumes in the air. My nephew had been waiting to use the restroom, but unfortunately they only have individual toilets. Someone had been locked in the men's room for over 20 minutes so there was no other option. Tip to the restaurant. If you're going to have single person bathrooms, make them unisex. We pay the bill and leave without a goodbye from anyone. This place needs work starting with the staff. Very socially awkward people all around. Very uninviting and very much not service oriented. We'll never go back which is unfortunate. The family is from Texas and I'm from California. We're always looking for at least semi-passable Mexican food in the area. This place failed miserably. read more

Wonderful Mexican dinner. The space is loft-like, with exposed brick walls and old-timely green tin chairs in a space with fun art (a map of Mexico superimposed over a map on Wisconsin). The hostesses and servers were super friendly and helpful. I started with a frozen mango margarita in a medium size, which would be a large anywhere else. It was delicious. Chips arrived with three types of dip. The chips were decent but the dips were amazing, especially the black bean. Our meals were all really good: my daughter had cheese quesadillas, I had chicken enchiladas, and my friend had soft shell tacos. The huge plates make the portions look small, but everything is plated beautifully and the portions are really just the right size. The rice and beans on the side are perfectly seasoned. This is a great spot for lunch or dinner near the college. read more

Had lunch here recently and as always it was a great meal. Their lunch specials are prepared quickly but you never feel rushed... not to mention their portions are more then enough. We both had the rice bowls (one chicken and one veggie)... the chicken was a little rubbery but all the veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. One of the newer Mexican restaurants in Appleton located right downtown, within walking distance to bars, the Performing Art Center, and City Park. The staff is friendly and attentive. You are given chips and 3 types of salsa, all delicious. My favorite dish to order here is the Chilaquiles. They are like amazing breakfast nachos! I would get them with a side of guacamole (I think it is made fresh) and then proceed to STUFF MY FACE with them. Take out is available, which is great if you work downtown and want to grab lunch to take back to the office. read more

Have eaten here a handful of times, delicious (although slightly pricey), but just wanted to leave a review for my experience tonight. My friend and I arrived an hour before they closed just to get in on their bogo monday marg deal. We chose to sit outside and were attended to promptly. However, once we received our margaritas, we didn't see our waiter until another 40 minutes later. When he came back, we decided to order our second margaritas but were told they closed soon (in 20 mins) and couldn't get us our margaritas. As someone who's worked in the food industry before, I know how irritating it is to have patrons walk in and order food five minutes before close but this was almost a half an hour before closing and we had only wanted two house margaritas, and the check immediately. read more

Love at first bite! We each got burritos...HUGE burritos. My husband got the Barbacoa with Mole Poblano sauce, which had a great rich, smoky flavor. I got the Hawaiian with REAL cheese sauce and jalapeños, which I could just eat a huge bowl of! Fresh, quality ingredients and reasonable prices for the portion size; Mexican food is not typically my go-to but would definitely eat here again. We stopped here with our group of seven during Ladies Night Out. They were busy but seated us immediately. Nice atmosphere, although the seats in the back room high top tables were a little uncomfortable and there was no place to put my coat, which ended up on top of my packages on the floor. The menu has many options, and the portions were just right. I had the Fajita Quesadilla which was fantastic, and the guacamole was fantastic as well. Our service was friendly and attentive. Very flavorful, abundant menu, solid service. As some reviewers have mentioned, some tables have odd carved supports that are awkward to sit at, but the hostess moved me to a different table immediately. Some very good Mexican food and quality drinks with some service issues. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on our recent visit to Appleton and the food hit all of the right notes for good Mexican food. We both had tacos Mexicanos - from carne asada, chicken, Al Pastor and Al Albanil. All were very good with the Al Pastor easily being the best. The beans and rice were nice, about what you would expect at a nice Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa were great. The chips were light and airy, the salsa had a very unique flavor we both loved, and the black beans served with it was extremely tasty. I am looking forward to coming back for a dinner. read more

Coming from Illinois, one of the few cuisines that is severely lacking in the area is Mexican. I've been craving it for awhile, and heard great things about this place, so I couldn't resist any longer. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was that this place is pretty big. It was kind of quiet and slow when we came at 2:45 on a Friday, but I've heard it can get packed during prime time hours. We were quickly seated and started to go through the menu. I'm used to seeing tacos, burritos, quesadilla, and tortas with your choice of meat, and that wraps it up with an occasional chile relleno offering if you're lucky. Their menu contains all of this, and more, so you'll definitely have to make another stop to try that other item you're still trying to decide between. I was set on getting the carne asada burrito with white cheese sauce as I've never seen a burrito served that way. When it arrived, I probably spent too long wondering if you're suppose to eat it with your hands or with a fork and knife. I'm fairly certain you're suppose to use silverware, but if you're able to handle it without.. more power to you! This was a costly burrito if I compare it to the hole in the wall places that are abundant in IL, but fair for a sit down place. One thing I'm always hesitant about is the quality of meat being used in a burrito, where biting down on some hard grizzle can really kill your burrito buzz. In cheap burritos, it can be a mine field of fat and chewy pieces, but here, I got through the whole burrito with nothing causing concern. Props to the chefs and the establishment for not cutting corners! Cheese sauce was awesome and the tortilla for the burrito was more chewy and fresh than the typical dried out flour tortilla most places use. I also tried the al pastor taco as it's usually a good indicator of the authenticity of a place. This one was awesome and you can tell that the painting above the door of the silhouette Mexico inside of Wisconsin isn't just some marketing to sell you upscale Taco Bell. This place is the real deal. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone I know. read more
