Pretend focaccia.. the texture of Wonder Bread..jeez. Chicken piccata arrived piping hot but flavorless; little garlic, less lemon. Mixed vegs were properly cooked. Linguine cooked correctly. When we arrived, we instantly noticed the menu was completely different in-person as shown online. The service was mediocor and we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. It seemed like the server was inexperienced. She didn't take our order for our meals after we ordered our appetizers. We had to request her over after waiting and after ordering our food it took very long to be served. The food was cold, the prices are high and the descriptions of the meals were deceiving from what was actually served. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

September 2019 stopped in for dinner/eyes immediately started watering from varnish or something like it. Had been here years before-excellent so was shocked by the low class low life vibes. Dining room empty but Maitre D put us right next to only other diners in the room. Unless you want a plate full of grease and terrible service I don't recommend going here. I called in a reservation for 7 and placed one for 5pm, when we got there we were seated and the waitress didn't come around for 15-20 minutes. After we gave her our drink orders we didn't see her or our beverages for another 10 minutes. The amount of food you get for such a sub par restaurant is not worth the price, $26 for 6 pieces of lobster ravioli that was covered in pools of oil. The chicken and broccoli rigatoni and the penne vodka was exactly the same way. Management did absolutely nothing and told us that "this is the way that they cook it here and they have never gotten any complaints". So I do not recommend giving your money to this horrid establishment. I honestly wish I could give this place 0 stars. read more

Went here for a Sweet Fifteen and feel bad who for the host who paid for this horrible service, First the main table server seemed unbalanced and disoriented alcohol was definitely a factor. She stumbled around things sliding back and forth on the plates she was handling. Very friendly at first but that changed when people started to complain about the food. The chicken piccata was rejected from several people at my table and this place has no understanding of what well done means. After requesting it to be place back on grill and ask to be given a to go container so can take my hunger family to nearest McDonald's. Not to my surprise after leaving this place the steak I was given was rarer than the first and the other element's of the meal were not included Just a bloody piece of meat. This also occurred at the rest of the tables as children and adults pushed them aside showing no interest. Never even got to try this place... we had a big reservation for about 10 people after my grandfathers funeral and we got there and waited for about 30 minutes in a small heavily trafficked hallway although we had a reservation and the staff was very rude and unhelpful. We had specifically reserved a smaller intimate room where we could share stories about our grandfather and had confirmed the reservation multiple times. We walked down to Bambolina (very good) as everyone was worn down and hungry from a draining day. I will never return here or forget how rude the staff was on a very sad day for my family read more

I want to start this review off by saying I don't like giving bad reviews based on service or decor. I try and keep my reviews mainly to the food and not service or decor. The issue I have is the food didn't really redeem this place. I ordered the ricotta gnocchi which was pretty good by itself. Where the issues started was the fact that I had ordered it with chicken, there was no chicken in the dish, not a big deal, but the server never came back. The restaurant was not that crowded but no one came back so I ended up finishing my dish without the chicken which I ordered, when the server finally came out I told him about the chicken, no problem there. Except it took 15 minutes for them to bring out 3 little bare pieces of chicken breast, I had a little sauce to put on them as they were unseasoned and dry but I got through it. After that again I didn't see my server or any server and we had to actually go find someone to get the check and check out. Now that I've given you an overall view of my experience and why this place didn't get a glowing review I'll go over the decor. The walls were textured which was kind of like stucco feel painted over. The framed photos on the wall didn't seem to have any theme and many weren't really hung level again small things to complain about but unfortunately when you are waiting forever for food you start to recognize things that honestly wouldn't have bothered you. Overall not a great experience and since I am not from this area I will not be coming back to dine here. We had a delicious dinner after our the Salem witch walking tour. I'm always hesitant to order gnocci, but I'm so glad I did. They were perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. We also got the eggplant appetizer and it was delicious!! My husband got the clam chowder, which he loved - creamy and rich, and the Bolognese. It's rare for us, but we cleaned our plates! Don't miss one of my favorite Salem locales tucked between Notch Brewery and the parking garage on Congress Street! The first time I set foot in Antique Table was shortly after they opened their Salem location, and one server had called out sick that day. Patrick, who was working the bar, was covering two very crowded rooms, taking food orders and making drinks. He kept apologizing for the delays (which were not his fault!) and delivered 150% that day. The food was delicious. I came back about a week later to give it another shot on what I hoped would be a less busy day. Not only did Patrick remember my name, he also remembered my previous order and asked if I'd like to eat the same meal. For that reason alone I keep coming back. Patrick, Jackie, Anderson and Peter are all part of the fantastic staff at this location. You'll feel welcome and right at home as you enjoy a delicious meal. The food and service do not impress. We started with antipasto and the fried calamari. The antipasto was a mixed green salad with 8-9 deli slices of capicolla, and two types of salami. The meats tasted like they had been sliced days before. The calamari was okay, not great. It looked like a large portion until we realized that they bread and fry the hot peppers with the calamari. About half of what were calamari rings were peppers. One member of our party also realized this after biting one and she is not tolerant of spicy foods. Very unpleasant. The wine list is terrible. They have only one Italian red by the glass and it isn't very good, nor was the Malbec we switched to. The sausage in one of the pasta dishes was cold because the cook did not reheat it long enough in the sauce. The lemon in the piccata dish was overpowering and did not taste good. The bolognese was a child size portion. The chicken parmigiana was probably the best dish of the bunch but it was just mezza mezza as the diner described it. read more

Went here for a date night - a party of only two. They were honest upfront, a bunch of servers (3) had called in that day so they were understaffed. We were fine with that. We knew we'd have to wait a long time for food, etc, and weren't bothered. All that said, this place gets a lot of hype. But as someone who's grown up eating Italian food, I wasn't all that impressed. I gave 3 stars because the boyfriend loved the veal parm. I, on the other hand, found the gnocchi to be just OK. So, overall, an OK experience but not phenomenal. Great location, though. (Sandwiched between Notch and the wharf, it makes for a sweet place for a night out.) read more

Soooo.... this was my first time EVER eating from here. I ordered takeout. Let me start by saying the prices online were a lot lower from the price they charged me when I went to pick it up. The manager stated that the prices had just went up (last week) due to them changing the recipe and adding more lobster meat to the pasta and the sauce itself. Understandable. When I mentioned the price difference he WAS kind enough to honor it for me "this one time". (Allegedly the online menus will be changed tomorrow) The food itself was good. The ravioli was delicious. There were chunks of lobster in the sauce and pasta. I actually finished my whole meal and was saving this last bite of lobster meat for the finale only to see that it was a giant piece of imitation crab that was a little disappointing but not the end of the world. The food here is usually awesome, but today we got a pizza delivered and it was garbage. Crust looks like a pre-cooked frozen crust from the supermarket. The pizza arrived cold. I know what you're going to say, "That might be on the delivery driver'. Nope. Got a margherita pizza and the sliced tomatoes were still cold from the fridge. Complete garbage. How Bad Service Ruined a Sisters Meal Out The restaurant is charming and the food was good, but my sister and I had a terrible experience with the service. Two seventy+ sisters were left sitting with no service for so long we could hardly concentrate on catching up. We each got a glass of wine and a menu but waited for over 20 minutes for service. No "Can I help you?" no bread, nothing. Finally, I got up and asked the waitress if we could order. She had been very busy chatting with the people at the only other table that was being used. It was 6:00 pm and the restaurant was practically empty. After I got up and went to her and asked if she could take our order, she was very hostile and rude saying she was giving us time to look at the menu. Way, way too much time and more than anyone would need. After dinner, we asked to see a dessert menu. We waited and waited again. 20+ minutes later I signaled her and she asked if we wanted a dessert menu. We told her we had already asked for one so she returned and slammed it down on the table. It was supposed to be a special meal for my sister and I. My sister lives in FL so I see her infrequently and we love to have dinner together. The whole service thing distracted us and ruined the experience. Later in the evening, maybe when we were trying and failing to be patient about getting the dessert menu, the restaurant filled up a bit. Maybe more wait staff would have helped. There was another waiter but apparently we weren't seated at his table. The waitress we had was very unprofessional and rude. We never got bread that we were told was coming. By the time the meal was over, we were angry. She ruined our Christmas get together. We tried not to let that happened but we kept going back to thinking were is our waitress instead of enjoying each other, even though we were hungry. We left a 10% tip and she yelled at us as we left. We both usually leave 20% but the waitress did not deserve anything. Never again! read more

A disappointing and bizarre dining experience, to say the least, with lackluster service and food. The chicken was extremely gummy, as if it was previously frozen, so we decided not to eat it. The cherry on top -- there was a bone mixed in with the pasta. No one came to check on us after the food was delivered. The server FINALLY reappeared after about 30 min. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, they told us "This is just how we cook the chicken -- there is nothing wrong with it." Because of the bone, they offered a free dessert. About 15 min later a different server appears with the wrong dessert (bread pudding instead of chocolate lava cake). We looked at each other confused and tried to communicate that this was not our order. The server was not fluent in English, but my wife and I were able to deduce that they were out of the dessert we ordered, so they decided to pick another random dessert for us. We asked at our hotel if there was a good Italian restaurant nearby. It turns out this restaurant was across the street, and I had seen it as one of the top ten in the area online. I've had some not-so-great chicken Francese dishes, but this one was delicious! And it came with risotto, which not many restaurants do not serve. The red sangria was also very good, and that's a drink that is hard to find well-made. My husband also had a chicken dish which he liked. It was late for dinner, but we were accommodated as if it was exact dinnertime. I would definitely go back and try something else! read more

The Antique Table in Salem is fantastic! This summer I have brought my Dad (92 and very fussy) my daughter and her friend and I have come with the girls! Everyone has been delighted with the service and the food! They have a beautiful garden patio for outdoor dining overlooking the inlet. Today we had app of shrimp grand marnier which was out of this world. Veal parm and chicken piccata were delicious as usual. Very good selection of wine, had desert and cappuccino tonight which was wonderful. The staff (Sebastian in particular) is very friendly, helpful, and very kind to my Dad, this says a lot about a restaurant.. Anyway, if you haven't been there, try it, and if you have been there, go back again! Covid or no Covid, I suggest you sit on the patio and take in all this location has to offer! read more

I typically go to the Antique Table in Lynn but ended up at their new-ish location in Salem this past weekend. I am so happy I did. I went with a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday and we were blown away by the atmosphere, waitstaff, food & drinks. Jose was our waiter and he was amazing- personable, kind, and thoughtful. The new outdoor seating makes you feel like you're on vacation. We got the caprese, Caesar salad, mussels, and calamari to start. We ordered carbonara, picatta, and haddock. EVERYONE at the table was pleased- which, in my experience, is rarely the case. 10/10 recommend Antique Table in Salem if you're in need of a wonderful, safe night out during these trying times. read more

Salem resident here-my partner and I absolutely love Antique Table, our servers and bartenders have always been awesome, with the food always on point with good portion sizes. It's definitely some of the most reasonably priced Italian in the area for it's quality as well. But above all else, I'm here to praise Joao and the Blood Orange Manhattan. It's my partner's favorite cocktail of all time, and no other place makes it better. While everything is closed down, I called on the off-chance that someone might be able to tell us how to make it at home as a quarantine pick-me-up. Joao not only gave me some basics on the ingredients (no secret recipe tips shared, don't worry!) but was also a damn delight. He even remembered us from when he sat us on Halloween! We had always planned to go back to Antique Table once it reopens fully, but he definitely earned our business as long as we live in the area. Seriously, give this guy a raise! read more
