I was heading to Salem in October, and didn't want to risk trying to find food without a reservation, but as expected many places don't take reservations in October because the influx of people, but Antique Table did! When we arrived the place was nearly empty, which come to find out places aren't as busy on a Monday. There was one other table finishing up in the main dinning area, and one other group arrived at the same time we did. We were greeted and sat quickly, but that's where the speed of things kinda came to a slow down. I'll start with some of the positives - our waitress was really nice and she had a helper who also was nothing but polite and friendly. The decor is really cool! There was no one in the entire back room of the restaurant, so I went and took a peak back there on the way to the bathroom and it had old cameras, typewriters, cool pieces of art, the main room also have some great scales of justice, and other fun features. They also had all the Halloween decor, if anyone needed to use the restroom we were told to go towards the large mirror, and I would always add on to my friends "with the creepy doll on it". After about 2 to 3 minutes my entire party had and water was brought to the table and served in plastic cups. Which at a place with white table clothes felt a little strange. At some point after our waitress returned to take drink orders and an appetizer of the calamari. She then asked "have I offered you all any bread yet" we said no, but we would love bread. She said "okay it will be $3" and walked away. We all kinda looked at each other confused, because the phrasing seemed like it was complementary bread but we were really hungry at this point and the bread ended up being really good - but it was a small portion for $3. I think 6 thinner slices in total. We waited a while before she returned for our food order. The menu has what you expect from an Italian places but also has a large section of Mexican dishes, which feels mismatched, it wasn't fusion style it was just Italian and Mexican separately, it just feels really disjointed. I went with the bolognese and one of my friends decided to order the tacos because it felt so silly to do in an Italian spot (and who doesn't like tacos generally). The calamari came out at some point after the bread, but we finished the bread, the calamari, and all our waters at a causal pace after that. We were sitting for a while before anyone came back to the room where we were seated. At this point there were maybe 3 or 4 tables sat in our room and possible one other couple up towards the front area. As many of us were out of water, I headed up towards the bar area or host stand to see if I could find someone. I ran into the guy who was assisting with our table and asked if we could get some more water - which happened promptly. About 5 to 10 minutes after that our waitress returned with even more water and told us food would be out soon. The food arrived maybe 10 minutes after that, so it had been a while since we ordered. The bolognese was fine, the pasta wasn't overcooked, the sauce lacked some depth and the meat was a little firmer than anticipated but overall it was still okay. They did offer some Parmesan cheese to be added to any of the pastas or tacos. The total for 5 people, with no alcohol, one soda, one order of calamari, the $3 bread, and the already added gratuity (which they did mention was already added in at 20% and it was also stated on the bill) ended up being $208. Overall, the food was fine, nothing to make a special trip for. Service was friendly, but very slow. The vibes were a little mismatched - Mexican food with Italian food and plastic cups with white table clothes. Overall, it's a fine experience if you are needing a reservation. read more

We ordered delivery on Wednesday night. Two dishes before the delivery fee were almost $60! Hubs got the veal piccata and said it was very good. I ordered the Cabanara and was charged to add shrimp. This was astoundingly disappointing! I found a measly three, maybe four, overcooked shrimp; the sauce lacked flavor, carbonara, or alfredo sauce, as the menu suggests. I had to add a ton of salt, black pepper, and my own grated parmesan cheese to make it remotely palatable. Picture for reference. Typically, dining in I would alert staff right away. We haven't been to Antique Table in a couple of years. We always enjoyed sitting outside and people watching. We went there tonight and had a delicious meal and great service. Our waiter was William (but not pronounced the English way) and he was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Caesar salad which was delicious...the dressing was great. We ordered the Antique Haddock and Veal Miquel. Both were exceptional! My only issue was that the outdoor area used to be so lovely and now it looks run down. There is so much foot traffic that a beautiful outdoor area would certainly attract more customers. And maybe put a menu out back for people walking by to view. Everything...the worse food, the Focaccia bread was laughable, seriously laughable. It was a piece of white bread, one slice, cut into 6 slices with butter and inedible ends that just broke off. The caprese salad was awful, the cheese, everything horrible. Our dinner took over 30 minutes to arrive at the table. Lukewarm, tasteless, hardly any sauce. I have made better at home. Antique Table, Salem location.Was looking forward to trying this place, but I couldn't possibly have been more disappointed. The service was impossibly slow even though the restaurant was far from full. Customers who were seated after us got their drinks before us, before the same waitress even approached our party of two. After a long wait, our drinks arrived and were some of the worst that I have ever tried! My Dirty Martini was served with chunks of ice floating in it, and not an olive in sight. I had to leave the table to hunt down our server to"order" some olives and request water and bread, which had been served to the surrounding tables. Ridiculous! Once our food arrived, 35 minutes later, my appetizer was forgotten, and my friend's appetizer was served with her entree. The entire point of an appetizer is to enjoy it before your meal! The Chicken Picatta was bland a dry, the bread basket, which also arrived WITH the meal contained soggy bread, which I can only assume was zapped in a microwave. Honestly, everything was awful from start to finish. The worst part was that this was a celebratory dinner. The check was the only thing that arrived to the table hurriedly, and I was blown away by the total! My missing appetizer was not taken off the check, which I realized only after I dropped my card. $200.00 for two people, a crappy meal, awful service and bad drinks. The most beautiful ambience in the world couldn't save this place, in my opinion. I honestly don't know how they stay open. Worst dining out experience ever. Reservation for 9 for NY's eve. Granted, it was cold out but there was NO heat in the room. Baseboards were ice cold. Asked that they turn up heat and they finally brought us a space heater. Totally understaffed for NYE with one bartender for the entire place. The owners obviously had their family there-about 25- and they catered to them all evening. Entree prices ridiculous for what you got-in my case a measly bolognese for $35. Terrible service because poor waiter was overwhelmed. Caesar salad was right out of a bag-and many pieces brown. Also arrived WAY late, like everyone's in our party. Family celebration had hats and horns-when we asked for one for our only young guest-12- request was refused. We had to go find our server in order to settle tab as he had disappeared. Had to go to bar and get a glass of wine-because of his absence, but had to wait 10 minutes because bartender was focused on making drinks for tables. My only comment is that our dinner could've been better if there were fewer mistakes with what we ordered and what was brought out to us. We were brought an appetizer that we did not order, and we had to ask about it. Two of us did not get our desserts until we asked for them. The water for the tea was warm. They were nice enough to warm my milk for the tea, but the temperature was so off that the milk curdled in my tea. The way they serve their customers seems a little confusing to both staff and customers. I only notice one waitress and a few runners. Menu was quite limited, a fraction of online offerings due to Halloween. Calamari appetizer arrived with dinner and was cold. Pasta dish was adequate, vodka sauce rather bland. My sisters ordered fettuccine with cappellini pasta and did not get what ordered, but said Alfredo was ok. Bread was a peppers and olive mix and would have been tasty as a toasted brochetta, not cold. Drinks were served in plastic cups?? No refill on soda, so my neice and sister had an empty cup halfway through meal. The dessert offerings seemed good. We tried tiramasu and creme brulee. Creme brulee was not smooth, was textured and rather plain. The tiramasu was just ok, have had richer more flavorful from pastry shops. Our server was pleasant enough but only checked on us once; hence, the empty soda cups. For a 250 dollar birthday dinner for four ladies, three of whom traveled from out of state, we felt dinner quite underwhelming and experience unremarkable. Full restaurant reservation for Rehearsal Dinner & Welcome Party - In late August of 2024 we hosted our wedding in Ipswich / Salem. After researching, and visiting a dozen venues in the area, we landed on the Antique Table to host our rehearsal dinner (30) and welcome party (100+). - Planning / Communication - Maureen who handles all of the events is an absolute gem. We visited the restaurant twice for dinner prior to the event to try different items and talk through details with her. She was unbelievably accommodating with adds and tweaks (menu, alcohol options etc) and always available for a phone call. - Food & Drink - Rehearsal dinner food can be quite bland, but this stacks up to the North End & East Boston. We had a wide option of apps and entrees with good wine pairings. The chicken / eggplant part is phenomenal, and a great base for a long night of welcome drinks. - Location - very centralized location right in downtown Salem with plenty of nearby parking. Most of guests walked front heir hotels. - Venue - The front dinning room comfortably held our 30 person dinner with room to spare. The back patio was amazing for hosting welcome drinks as most of our guests spent their time outside. We had a buffet of apps set up in the back dinning room which was confident for those going to the bar or bathroom. We had considered live music (which they can accommodate) but found using their sound system with playlists for dinner and the welcome party was a more suitable option. - Pricing - great quality for food and venue as compared to other venues. We never felt nickled & dimed, and were there #1 priority. Overall, it was a great experience start to finish with nothing but compliments from our dinner guests. read more

The food was amazing! The service was a little slow, but the ambiance and decor were beautiful. My server told me that it was her second evening at work, and I told her that she would do well! I enjoyed the haddock, lemon risotto - but had to take my dessert home, as I was waaaaaay too full! I will definitely go there, when I return to Salem. Significantly larger than Lynn restaurant but every bit as good if not better. We came to beat the Salem October madness and Anderson took care of us. Nice bar with high tops when you enter. Salads are large and filling. Chicken Mauricio over choice of pasta was filling and smothered with cheese. Meat ball appetizer was excellent and filling as well. Figure meal with a few glasses of wine and and appetizers will run around $110-$125 but worth it. Will definitely return after Halloween when Salem returns to norm Went last night and was disappointed. Maybe it was Cinco de Mayo and restaurant was unprepared for the crowd or maybe because staff was out but both service and food preparation disappointed us. Three and one- half stars. So many things have been challenging this year that, when something (anything?) goes seamlessly it kind of feels miraculous. That was our experience with Antique Table. Picture this: two days before a wedding, the venue for the rehearsal dinner (carefully planned out because of covid) cancelled on us (because of covid ...). Understandable and better safe than sorry and all that - but where are we going to take everyone on a Friday night in Salem for a nice dinner? Antique Table. Our waitstaff was amazing - Maureen was the clear favorite - and helped with everything from decorating to drink choices. The food could not have been better and the timing was excellent. Eggplant Parmesan appetizer was life changing, and my linguine with Bolognese was exactly perfect. I imagine we tried everything on the menu, actually, and everyone was happy and had a lovely time. I haven't been on Yelp in forever, but had to log in to give this place their well-earned one star. Terrible, terrible service for overpriced, mediocre food. We were there for three hours, most it taken up by waiting. It took 45 minutes for our initial drinks to arrive and even then the tonic in my G&T was flat and everyone else got a lime in their drink but me. No big deal right? Under normal circumstances, not at all, but in reality it was the first sign of how much things would deteriorate over the evening and how poorly their bar - and overall establishment - was being run. The service was disgracefully slow and the server made no effort to let us know that the bar was understaffed and that things were backed up. (I mean, seriously girl, it's OK to throw everyone else under the bus if they deserve it.) It took another hour for us to get dinner. By the time we were almost finished, we decided we needed to cancel the bottle of wine that was clearly not going to be served with dinner. Apparently there is no one in this Italian restaurant capable of opening a bottle of red wine. The best part was that the manager made our server come to us and apologize (not her fault) AND blamed his WIFE who took our reservation and said, "She's too nice; she says yes to everyone." As if he never met her and as if they don't have the right and the responsibility to cap reservations if there isn't enough staff. Hire another freaking bartender! Teach your staff how to cope when things are backed up! And most of all, pal, roll up your damn sleeves and get to work yourself when things are that bad. Deliver food, mix drinks, open a bottle of wine. (Also, you might think about adding some flavor to the food.) I will never go to this place again under the current management. read more

My wife was in tear! This is not remotely close to The Antique table in Lynn. We had special guests from out of state for a special occasion and we were under the impression that this location was an expansion. We rolled the dice and were excited to hear they expanded. The hostess told us it's the same menu with the addition of an Argentinian flare of some sort of meat varieties and an Argentinian meat platter option on the menu. We didn't go there for the meat platter but understood that it still had the authentic north end Italian flavors like the hidden gem in Lynn. Wow! The pasta dishes were so bad, our 8 year old could have done better. They claimed that the fettuccine was homemade. Market basket brand is superior. If ramen noodles made fettuccine it would be comparable. There Italian food is so bad, I'd rather eat a frozen dinner out of a can. We were so upset that we brought our guests there thinking it would be like the one in Lynn. Clearly there was some kind of deal made with the owners to use the original brand. We have been to this location 5 or 6 times and we usually leave quite happy, but this last time there was a noticeable lack in quality. The focaccia that start you with is barely cooked and tastes like white bread. My chicken, broccoli, and ziti with tomato in a garlic/white wine sauce was bland with very little chicken. It tasted nothing like garlic and the sauce was basically watered down tomato soup. I have had this dish before and it was delicious, so something is off now. ​My partner ​ad the veal with risotto, and the veal had no breading left and the risotto had no flavor at all. Our drinks were decent and the meatballs and starter salads were good, but that was it. And I hate to bring it up because we are both so patient, but the service was not great. They were very friendly but it took ages for them to take our order after we had empty appetizer plates for about 15 minutes. It was very slow service, and it was not busy - we could see staff waiting around. Overall, it was about as good as Olive Garden, which is a shame. The evening started with a 20-minute wait in the hallway by the restrooms with a peekaboo view of the kitchen. The latter, to be honest, didn't serve any food during our wait nor were any tasty aromas emanating from there, which should have been a good indication of things to come. We were sat at a table which was completely devoid of typical Italian welcome fare like bread, olive oil or balsamic vinegar. Apparently they ran out of bread that night. (At 7:50, really???) Curiously, no salt or pepper were on the table either. Nevertheless, we pursued to order within the next 5 minutes: filet mignon with lobster and crab sauce, chicken Marsala, and 2 other dishes. We waited for 45 minutes without a check up on us by any of the staff. All around us, people were either upset or leaving due to the wait times. Just as we were contemplating alternatives, the food arrived. The filet was way overcooked (asked for medium, got twice-well-done), the lobster/crab sauce was a dried clump plopped on top of the beef, with no humidity whatsoever; everything looked like it was warmed up in a microwave. The chicken Marsala was completely tasteless, and the sauce, watery. The other 2 dishes were also subpar but I'll spare you the details before I run out of space. Tried to fix the chicken by asking for other sauces and waited 15 minutes for them to bring an overly sweetened white cream they called Alfredo. Also asked for the steak to be fixed; they ended up stealing one from another customer's order and brought a "rare" piece which turned everyone off at the table. The waiter took our complaints about the kitchen's output too personally and got visibly angry at us for no reason... oh and he didn't even refill our waters at any point in time. Looking back, I regret even tipping him that much at this point. All in all, this place doesn't deserve to have any connection with Italian food. It's a real Kitchen Nightmare and Ramsay would have been furious... For the brave who read through all this: please go and enjoy some "Lean Cuisine". read more

I will be calling the attorney general's office regarding the Salem location. I had a gift card and they would not honor it. The Manager said the gift card could only be used at the Lynn location since that is where the card was from. The receipt for the gift card stated it was purchased in Salem. Horrible business!
