I really like this place and try to stop whenever I am in town. The soups are all great. I love the nutty salad. Everything goes so well together. A lot of their meals come with fresh fruit or you can just order it. The corn patties are awesome. Probably one of the worst places to eat in Harlingen, although I wouldn't say they are the worst but they're definitely really bad and it's all about how fresh everything is which it isn't it all tastes like they microwaved it regardless of what you get on the warm side. The big thing about this place is how RUDE the staff is, like they almost seem like they're offended people are giving them business, when I ate here I saw a couple get up and walk out mumbling about how rude they were. We have been coming to Antigua since 2013 and have always been delighted with the food, service, and ambiance. The menu - we've just about worked our way through it - has interesting items with lovely spices and combinations of flavors. And you will not believe the desserts! There was an annoying child who was ignored by his father. It's hard for the staff to keep a fractious child from irritating others when the parent won't do anything. I hate leaving bad reviews... especially when it's a small business, but when the customer service is lacking, it's hard not to say something. The soups are always great, the nutty spring salad is good... the chicken salad is always a hit. I come here often because I like the food, but there's one female waitress who is not friendly, accommodating or kind. What happened to the basic concept of customer service? It totally ruins the experience... and makes me question coming back. And I'd like to note that this isn't a one time occurrence. This is the second time I've come here for lunch while passing through the area and it does not disappoint. The restaurant is conveniently located not far from the interstate, in a cute old historic home. The interior is broken into multiple seating areas in different rooms. There's daily specials and the menu consists of a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and main dishes. Most of the plates come with your choice of soup and a your choice of salad. Some of the sandwiches even allow you a half sandwich order. My first trip I ordered the half hot veggie sandwich with a house salad and broccoli cheese soup. My second time I ordered the other veggie sandwich with broccoli cheese soup and the Asian salad. Everything was amazing both times and I have no complaints. Joined my Mom to this place she wanted me to try. First of all parking is limited so heads up. The wait was not to bad but was after lunch rush. I had the chicken ranch avocado on croissant (was very good) with a salad and a Tuscan soup which were good as well. My Om had a chicken salad on croissant with salad and Tuscan soup which she stated was very good. The service is ok, I say this bc I usually always need a refill and was unable to get one. Lovely little cafe located in Harlingen! They have really fresh food and a great selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups. This is probably the best place to go to for lunch in Harlingen if you're wanting something a bit healthier. It gets very crowded though because of the odd hours (only open weekday lunches, what?!) so you may have to wait to be seated if you're going in at 12. Every entree actually comes with a cup of soup and a salad, which is great! This is the only time in my life where I visit a restaurant and get into a verbal argument with the cook after accusing me of being a liar! First of all, there are no soft drinks that are served here. I recommend their hibiscus tea - it's the best one I've had. As an appetizer I ordered tortilla soup. The tortillas, though baked, were stale. The texture was rubbery and they were flavorless. Upon bringing that up to the waitresses attention, the female cook approached our table to inquire about this. We told her they were stale and was responded to this that "they are freshly baked" . She kept interrupting and saying "no, that is not the case" when I brought up to her attention why I was saying they were stale. Food was okay, nothing that impressed me. My girlfriend stated her chicken avocado sandwich had too much sauce, and chicken not enough flavor. The Croissant in which it was served was good, with the exception of the areas soaked in sauce. The house salad was definitely very fresh and good. Cheesecake, girlfriend can never say no to cheesecake and in this occasion she passed, and gave it to me.
