It's my first time visiting Anthony's Seafood on the way home from Second Beach. You just place a casual order and then sit down while they bring the food to your table. It took a bit of time on Sunday evening, but everything we ordered was delicious! We tried the salmon taco, fish taco, and fish and chips. I especially loved the salmon taco with the nicely toasted tortillas, grilled salmon, and pineapple cabbage slaw--it was perfect! We'll definitely be back next time we hit the beach. Came on a busy day during the 4th of July weekend, and we were not disappointed. Service - 10/10 They take the orders at the counter, and the seating and water was self-serve while we were there. We had two dogs with us, and they were very accommodating to allow the dogs to sit with us as we sat outside. The food came out very quick (less than 10 minutes). Food - 10/10 Clam Chowder: Very good, had a nice consistency and good portion size. Fish & Chips: Lightly breaded, fell apart quite nicely, really good. Felt like on the oil and went down smoothly. One of the best fish & chips i've had so far. Fisherman's Platter: Really good, everything was organized neatly and easy to tell what each portion was even with the breading on. We ordered hot lobster rolls and New England clam chowder. Overall the food was fresh and tasty. The chowder is a must try (especially on a chilly Fall night). The lobster roll had tender pieces of lobster with no fillers. Just a bun and lobster meat which is completely fine with me. The fries are special. They were hot, well-seasoned and perfectly crispy. We walked in and the place was spotless. Very clean and a very nice first impression. We read the menu and walked up and the girl took our order. We ordered steamers, fried shrimp and a 2 lb lobster. The whole process lasted 5 minutes and we went and sat down. We waited approximately 18 minutes and two guys dropped off our food. The booth was comfortable and the dining area was fine. The food - steamers were good Lobster was fairly tough, but overall good. The fried shrimp were ok, but had a lot of breading in them and I was full / sick with only eating 10 shrimp. I would not recommend the fried shrimp. I was disappointed about nobody asking how our meal was. No extra napkins or want some water. On our way out, u saw the self serve water jugs by the door. I was very unimpressed with the overall experience. If I go back again, I will try during season and try something better than fried shrimp. I will also not tip 20% for zero service. Did a day trip to Newport, RI. This place was on my ToDo list. Ordered 3 Spicy Stuffies, the Kung Po Calamari and the Whole Belly clams (large) - came out to just over $75. Drive home was 4 1/2 hours. Thank god I brought a cooler lol. 20 minutes in the oven and it was time to eat. Everything was absolutely yummy. Wife liked the calamari and I thought the whole belly clams were delish - order was huge but I'm sure that's why the bill was so high. Fresh from the water, shucked on the way to the table. So clean and good. Being from the gulf coast area I love how clean and salty the oysters are here. I had the spicy stuffy - great. Fresh seafood made to order! A few friends and I visited Anthony's after walking the Cliff Walk in Newport. This place is absolutely phenomenal. Everyone enjoyed their food and raved on how well it was made. Some of my friends said: "They know how to fry seafood very well" "Best seafood I've had in RI" "I'll drive from Providence to Middletown just for their fish" I ordered the lobster roll. It was superb--fresh lobster on a roll! There was entirely more lobster than initially anticipated and *today's* market priced lobster roll was only $29 (w/ taxes). We werd given numbered tabs and the staff brought our meals outside to our table. Do not be fooled by the outside! This place is more than worthy of a try. The service was great and our wait was approximately 5-10 minutes for our food. Next time I hold to try their raw oysters. They were, unfortunately, out by the time we arrived. read more

Maybe because it has an attached fish market selling fresh seafood by the pound, but the restaurant menu lists their portion size, so there is no guessing. I have gone many times, but this time I ordered a small whole belly clam basket. It was listed as 6 ounces, and it had a price on the menu !!!! None of this MKT price guessing. The clams were soft, sweet, and just enough to fill my desire for fried clams. The French fries, slightly overcooked, were still crispy and tasty. If you are having your meal to go, skip the line and go around the corner to order at the take-out register. If the parking lot is full, hang tight.
