When she returned with the fish, I said "just FYI, all that should matter is that I'm the customer (paying top dollar for a premium product), maybe I'm just a bit OCD." Her response, again with that famous Gen-Z contempt, was "I mean, there's no difference, we just brought it (the fish in the case) out, but anyways, I got you your fish." She just didn't get it. The owner overheard everything and chimed in "all of our fish is fresh here, you don't need to worry about that." Yeah, I know that it's a good product, it's why I shop here, but if my unique brain feels better about having it brought out from the back cooler, why should that merit even a drop of bad attitude?! Ordering was super simple. You can order online, but we had a gift certificate, so we called to place our order. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and thorough with the instructions. I even needed to change our delivery date by a day, and they were so accommodating and easy to work with. The lobster arrived right when expected and was packaged extremely well in a secure box with plenty of ice packs. And the fact that they delivered fresh Maine lobster all the way to Northern Michigan was pretty awesome! We kept the preparation super simple--just grilled the tails with a little salt, added a drizzle of fresh lemon, and dunked them in melted butter. Absolutely immaculate. Family run, very rustic shop full of character and a resident mascot named Olive who was super sweet. And if I ever have to mail order lobster again I know where I'm getting them from.

I would recommend the mini snackle boxes and raw pressed juices. Those could actually be useful for a nearby beach trip and I liked that they use glass jars. The woman running the cafe section of the store was very hospitable, but as other Yelpers have mentioned some of the other store associates were less than enthused. I kind of get it though, Newport's upper echelon isn't the easiest clientele to interact with so I would probably get a little stoic over time as well.
