We stopped at the ReStore today looking for a counter top for my brewing room. They had a number to…read morepick from but the only one that would work well for my purposes was damaged and too much money. (I ended up buying a new top for the same money elsewhere.) However, they also had an almost new GE gas range top. Perfect for doing my beer brewing. And the price was 1/3 what I saw for clearance at the big box stores. They have lots of things to pick from but be careful and select cautiously. And pay attention to the price.

We have Anderson windows but they were installed when the house was built in 1987. Some were ok, some needed some work and some needed to be replaced. Seals, caulking, rebuild a sliding glass doors, all new interior handles and 3 windows were too far gone so they were replaced with new construction windows. The good stuff: They are an Anderson window distributor and installer. They know these windows and know how to work on them. And they are a very friendly group to work with. They did excellent work and the windows and sliding glass doors all work like new. The not-so-good. They don't communicate at all. I had to call and call to get any information, even if they planned to show up to work! In spite of the communication issue, I'd certainly use them to work on any Anderson windows.

Those greeters are also wiping down all the carts and baskets when they come back in. They are also not allowing anyone under 16 to come in. I went to look at some patio furniture and some bird feeders and such. While I was testing out some of the patio chairs I was looking at I was asked multiple times by passing associates if I needed any help or if I was doing okay. Some of the most attentive and customer service driven staff I've seen in a big store in a while. I didn't buy furniture this trip (the packaging will not fit in my car) but I will be back to purchase in a few days. I was also looking for some birthday gifts in the birding section. They have an abundance of different kinds of bird seed and a large variety of different feeders. I found a couple really cool ones. Check out was super fast, didn't have to wait in line walked right up. Their check out is totally contactless with the associate which is nice (granted their checkout system is always like that)

They have human cashiers, not just robots. You get a good deal on all the stuff, it's cost competitive. They have most of the stuff you would need. They're not anti-human. They are local. Personally speaking I get all of my construction, Home upgrade, and gaming snacks at Menards. (It's a better deal than Kroger or Meijer for some of those. Walmart got rid of customer service a long time ago, they just go to the lowest common denominator for their day-to-day floor staff, they just grind those folks to dust. They might have local cheap, but the larger costs are pretty big.)

They've mixed paint well and been careful to ask me about what I need, although 1 or 2 just decided I wanted the premium Olympic paint when I was preoccupied. The best thing is that I never had to worry about the colour. It was always mixed correctly. I got a number of lighting fixtures there, many at clearance prices, and they've worked quite well. I also used some self-adhesive floor tiles for a temporary change and those have been quite durable. Between my mum and I, we'd been to the returns desk a few times and Rita was always quite pleasant. In fact, most of the staff are pleasant and helpful. Twice, I got appliances with a delivery and haul away offer and the crew were very good in getting the old appliances out the door carefully. That's impressive. If there is one negative thing to note, it's that this is a small store. However, coming from Florida, I've noticed that stores in Indianapolis, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Chicago don't match the store that was minutes from my Florida house. I looked for an item (many items, actually) and it wasn't available at a certain store, so I tried a new zip code and until I used the Florida zip code, it did not show local availability. That's unfortunate. I'm sure people in this area would like to have the same items as elsewhere in the country. If you have a military i.d. card, present it at checkout for a discount. While there, Berkley, the store manager, shared some super helpful and interesting insight into the ways each wood needs cared for. Rumor has it they offer an annual sale in November which can be extra helpful when it comes to the rare, hard to find and high priced varieties. I recommend popping in with a vision and you'll find the help needed to measure, cut and select the proper wood for the job. In the back of the building you'll find even more options beyond what is available in the main showroom.
