Menards is an odd store for home improvement, especially in Richmond. It's rather small for such a big store. Yes, that doesn't make sense, until you look at their store in Muncie and realize how much the Richmond store doesn't have. They have some good deals but you have to watch carefully what they're selling. e.g., they sell countertops for kitchens and bathrooms and were cheaper on my kitchen countertop than other places in town, but it still needed some assembly when it was retrieved at the store. They're quite inexpensive on compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs, especially the daylight types. I've had good luck with the Mastercraft exterior doors I bought there, despite my uncle's (a contractor) reservations about them. The only thing that really bothers me is the way that they treated the Veteran's discount. My mum (a veteran and spouse of a veteran) and I went to the service desk about the lack of a discount on something she bought that day, during the July 4th weekend. The person who talked to us was rather rude and said that Lowe's wouldn't give him a discount on sale or clearance items, so why would Menards do it? We had just come from Lowe's on got discounts on the sale and clearance items we bought there. When I wrote the company, they sent me what amounted to a form letter saying that they were, of course, concerned and they would look into the matter promptly. The staff at the store can be incredibly helpful, until you really need them and then, you have to search forever, it seems. One more thing: the mail-in rebates end up in credits that you can spend at the store. I don't recall any ever involving real cash.

Buyer Beware: Our experience with David Myers at Builtmore Home Improvement is very concerning and…read morewe want to share our story. We visited Builtmore on May 7th looking for the remnant piece of granite that could cover a 1/2 bath vanity top and a full bath vanity. We found a perfect match and scheduled Monday May 9th for David to come and take measurements. This was the beginning of a pretty disappointing customer experience as he missed this date along with the two installation dates that were planned. Dave came to take measurements on May 10th and took our 1/2 bath vanity along with the old granite and a check for $1.200. David scheduled the first installation date for May 20th and did not show up as planned so we had to call for a status update. David informed us the granite broke and needed to be-ordered so we went to the showroom the next day and found the slab we selected in the same place as it was a week earlier with the our name and also the name of Ivy HIlls.. The second installation date of May 27th was scheduled for 9am and when no one arrived we called at 10am to check on status and was told that it needed to move to Noon since the cutting was not completed. Noon came and went with no contact from Builtmore. I went back to the show room and was informed we were not scheduled for installation at all. It appears this was a side job for David and not associated with their normal procedures. We are fortunate that we got our money back along with our property however I am now without the granite I wanted and time wasted. This demonstrates that this company and it's employees are not trustworthy.

They set up 2 appointments to look at a crack in the corner of the counter top and did not show for either and now will not take our phone calls. They also cut the breakfast bar too short and never returned to replace the counter top. Search elsewhere for your product!!!
