The labne portion is understandably small, but still can last two satisfying servings easily. The consistency is like a thick creamy yogurt with a tang. Labne presentation is nice even with delivery. Really really really love Anoush'ella - have been going there weekly, sometimes more often since they opened on Washington st. Love the mezze, the grain bowls, and the shakshuka. We are there so often that when we walk in they know our regular order. But they switched this week from the regular warm manoush that they served with their mezze to honestly, the worst stale cold hard crumbly pita bread that I've ever had in my life. Like worse than dry Joseph's pita from the grocery store. Even my three year old wouldn't eat it and she regularly delights in weeks old goldfish that she finds in her car seat. Major bummer, sadly we won't be back as long as they are serving this pita, maybe once my daughter is willing to eat a grain bowl we can add it back to our weekly routine, but the mezze is a non starter now. Btw, to management, if this is a cost issue, I'm sure your customers would be willing to pay for the superior bread, at least I would. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon after a hike. Delicious food and lots of vegan options, I'll have to come back. I got the Armenian side salad and the za'atar wrap. If you are hungry I would get two wraps and a side, the portions are kind of small. But the food only took 5 min to make which is great. TLDR: Delicious and fresh a great value. Anoushella feels like a chameleon changing colors to fit the customers needs. Take out is quick and easy and well wrapped. The interior has nice seating. There's a bar area with interesting cocktails, tap beer and wine. It smells heavenly inside. I see a brunch menu up on the wall. It has so many different shades to it that I feel bad reviewing it only ever eating take out from this restaurant. I've never had a drink here but I really want to. The food is really good. Especially the vegetables. Everything seems so fresh and green and vibrant. I'm more fond of the bowls than the wraps but you can't go wrong with either. Give this place a shot. read more

I think of Pavlov's dogs, because now, when I find myself on Washington Street, Anoush'ella pops in to the ol' dome and I drool. Because when Anoush'ella comes to mind, their labne shakshuka soon follows. And the labne shakshuka is the best brunch plate I've had in recent memory. Labne is a thick ass tangy yogurt, not unlike a skyr or what have you; shakshuka is a Bohemian egg casserole type thing, typically finding the ova swimming in a thick and thickly spiced tomato casserole. Historically, I only found it at The Beehive and some random spots, but I guess it's in the spotlight, because more eateries are popping it on the menu. Take that, inventive twists on a classic Eggs Benny. Anyway, the good peeps at Anoush'ella imbue their labne with a heavy hand of garlic, adorn the plate with a fragrant olive oil, za'atar and other gorgeous herbs, and crack two soft poached eggs in the mess. "Damien, would you ever think to eat eggs and yogurt together?" "No, homey. Too texturally similar. I need that crunch." "Well, here - just try this labne shakshuka from Anoush'ella." *eats* "Everything I know is a lie." It's honestly the best. I love it. I love everything else I've had here (check pics for the spread), mostly because the Lebanese menu takes a bold flavor approach to already bold flavor foods. The lamajun is megacharged, an overstuffed version of a staple dish, revved up with pomegranate arils (a site favorite); and the Anoush'ella kofta is a wrap that could probably take up residence in my mouth, and I'd never ask for rent. The desserts are stellar (if you see something that looks like a baklava cookie, buy them all), they have local beers and cordial cocktails on tap, and the you can eat on a table that's filled with a world of spices. It's a must try when in the South End, or anywhere else, because labne shakshuka, late entry and front-runner for the 2017 Plate Of The Year. read more

We hired Anoush'ella to cater our 160-guest outdoor summer wedding. The food, the service, and the whole overall experience really impressed us. Aleks was great to work with and the food (braised beef, chicken zaatar, lentil kofta, grilled egplant and tahini, hummus/labne/babghanoush/feta, a wide array of salads and fresh baked saj bread) was elevated yet totally crowd-pleasing. I have been to this place twice. I ordered salad last time but this time, I ordered their couscous bowl. It comes with salad, couscous, walnut harissa, garlic sauce and hummus. Couscous was great, however, the salad came with a sour dressing that made the entire bowl sour. My husband ordered rice lentil bowl which came with lentil, rice, walnut harissa, salad, tzatziki sauce and hummus. Again, everything else except the salad with sour dressing was great. Wrap, bowl, or mezze?? It took some studying of the menu and then further education by the staff before I could figure out what I wanted. Thankfully, they were kind and patient with me. I went with the pick 3 mezze option of lamajun, braised beef, and kofta. It wasn't bad, but just not memorable to me. I thought the braised beef lacked flavor and was a little dry. Everything lacked flavor for me except the walnut harissa which was tasty. Although mezze is meant for sharing, I must admit it was all for me. I did end up taking some home. With drink, it came out to be around $20 which is a little on the pricey side. I guess it comes out to $10 if you were sharing with another. My friends went with the bowls which were more reasonably priced for one. The best part of the experience were the workers. They were all very pleasant. read more

This was delicious! - Decor is really nice, the center table had an inlay displaying various spices and beans. Cons: - The egg whites in the shakshuka were a little runny and translucent, otherwise everything else was good. - I wouldn't say this is a downside but it could be for some people. Stopped for lunch with a colleague. Manager or owner noticed our confusion and came to explain the menu and showed us how to scroll through the IPAD menu, which was easier to read then the menu board on the wall. We each had a wrap, a side of hummus and pita and an iced tea. I don't remember the name of my wrap, but it had pomengrate seeds, tahini, and beef and lamb kabob. The pomengrate seeds added a nice sweet crunch which was a surprise. My colleague had a grilled beef wrap. Both were nice size, fresh ingredients, made quickly and delivered to our table. Really pleasant decor. Comfortable, at lunch time a moderate size crowd, some group dining as you enter, next to the bar, and some small tables in the back. Will definitely return. Came here on a Saturday night and there are plenty of seats. The place has quite causal vibe but very sophisticated food. The mezze for two plate is a well curated blend of their most signature dishes and dips. Labneh is smooth and creamy topped with a blend of nuts, harissa and pomegranate. This new place in the South End has a great vibe and unique food. A newspaper article on their wall describes it as if "Sweetgreen and Sofra had a baby." FOOD They have an extensive menu with lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. Their flatbreads can all be made gluten free, all of their sides are vegetarian, and they have salads and grain bowls as well. I got the monk salad with kofta added to it and a side of baba ghanoush. The salad wasn't as great as I expected; it was more of a salsa than a salad. The kofta was good though, and the baba ghanoush was great. We also split a gluten free za'tar flatbread and the baked za'tar fries. The fries were great - they're thick fries and not greasy. The flatbread had good flavors but was a little too crispy. They also have a labne bar, sweet flatbreads, a mezze option for dinner, and various options for brunch. I'll definitely be back to try some other things. The only thing I wish they did is build-your-own flatbread/grain bowl/salad bowl. DRINKS They have beer, wine, cocktails, tea, hot drinks (a tahini mocha they had sounded amazing), and even kombucha. I got a whiskey grapefruit ($9) - it wasn't very strong but tasted good. My friend got the peach + thyme martini and it was also good ($9). ATMOSPHERE The staff is friendly and attentive. It's a fast-casual place where you place your order at the cashier, get a buzzer, and they bring you the food. Came in here very excited to try such an attractive restaurant but soon became instantly confused about the menu. First off, there's absolutely no pictures to show what anything is. So unless you're familiar with a "saj kitchen", good luck! I ordered one of the wraps: Anoushella kofta which included hummus, hummus, lamb, and beef kofta with vegetables for $9.93. When it came out, it was tiny and certainly looked like a snack vs. meal. You would probably better spending your money somewhere else, even though the taste was pleasant. As I am not a fan of brunch - menus tend to be very repetitive - I was actively looking for a more unique place to visit when a friend wanted to grab brunch. Anoush'ella seemed like a great spot to check out. As a brunch location, the food was really good, although the servings were on the small side. Personally, it wasn't a place I would frequent too often, just because it was a bit too pricey and so blatantly targeted millennial brunch-goers, but the food was pretty tasty and perfect for anyone looking for a slightly different brunch food. Tips: It was actually very pricey for the amount of food you get. The dishes definitely look larger in the picture! For those of you who don't know all the ingredients and dish names, they also have definitions on their menu. They also have a labne bar on the side with different savory and sweet yogurt bowls. Food: We had two shashukas - one regular and one labne or yogurt based. They were both good, but were both on of those dishes where the first few bites were amazing, but gets old too quickly (even for a small portion). Chips were served with each dish - they were somewhere between bread and chips and were warm and soft, not crispy. Hummus was really creamy, I liked the flavor, not too much garlic. The pita was on the thinner side but tasted good. Both wraps were really good but I liked the overnight braised beef more because it had more spices and was more flavorful. Only complaint was the meat felt a little dry and stringy but the sauces and flavors made up for it. Pickled turnips in both the wraps was delicious. Great chill place for lunch/brunch. I had seen them all over instagram, so I was super excited to come try this out on the weekend. I came during a slower time and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The wrap I got was really fresh, and prepared quickly - they have a big selection but it doesn't feel overwhelming. Knocked off a couple stars because the baklava cookie I got seemed like it had been sitting out for a couple of days...it was dry and brittle. Most places will offer discounted day-olds or at least be mindful and let their customers know if something wasn't prepared that day but I wasn't told anything of it. We came in for a very early dinner on a Sunday afternoon and also had a beer. The food and beer are both very good. They have a nice variety of seating situations to choose from. There is a bar, individual tables in the back and a really long table that has a glass top with compartments of different spices underneath. It is a cool setup. read more

I am Lebanese and was craving a Lebanese breakfast/brunch of manakeesh and ful. The manakeesh, both cheese and zaatar were absolutely delicious. We ordered the Mezze for 2 and added a labneh dish with a cheese mankoushe, and that was a ton of food for 2, coming in at under $44 total. The labneh shakshuka was really good, the zaatar manoushe was amazing, especially when adding labneh to it. Skip the ful however, it didn't seem quite cooked right, and the hummus was ok but a little grainy and maybe missing some lemon juice. They have couscous which was VERY close to moughrabieh, that was delicious. read more

I don't know. Ive been here once so feel a little bad about giving this place one of my more critical reviews (I'm a pretty generous reviewer). It's just not good enough to justify the price. Staff weren't super helpful and I was looked at like a crazy person when I asked if chips were included with the tzatziki (I'm pretty white but don't think eating tzatziki with pita/chips is the craziest thing ever).
