When I lived in Indianapolis I went to this place every Sunday for years- so coming to Lafayette I had high expectations which were met by far! The waiter and girl she was training were both really friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the Chilaquiles and my guest ordered an omelet. We both enjoyed our food. I especially liked the side I got which was black beans with goat cheese sprinkled on top. It had amazing flavor and the chilaquiles had just the right about the kick. The coffee was great as well- they had medium and dark roast to choose from. I will definitely be coming back next week! read more

This place wasn't what I expected. From their images online I was hoping for the best and some delicious food. They were very busy which I expected on a Sunday so I did use the Yelp app to reserve a spot in line which was awesome and they sat us down almost immediately. My server seemed very unknowledgeable about the menu and what it offered. I asked if they did any flavored iced coffees and she said she wasn't sure and she'd check. She just brought me a very iced down coffee with little flavor that I wasn't thrilled about. Gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she's new and that's fine. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my mom had an omelet. The food came and while it looked amazing the taste just wasn't.. my eggs were cold and the flavors were just okay. My mom said her omelet seemed very over done and wasn't too happy either. My favorite part was the complimentary pancake beignets. Those were soft, hot and yummy but we didn't get them until after paying for our bill. While I didn't enjoy this first time experience, I do think it was just a busy day and maybe I didn't order the best they had to offer. I would still come back and try something new maybe sometime. read more

Came here on a Sunday at 1015 and only waited 10 mins. Not bad considering that Purdue university school year is over too at this point in June. The food was fine but the service killed it all. The waitress was not friendly in a rush forgot part of our order and never brought coffee refills. Let me define friendly: introducing herself, a smile, tone of voice that indicates she enjoys her job, and simple courtesies like a greeting and thanking at the end of a meal. I would go back as the speed of food was quick, parking was ample, wait was reasonable and ambience is country cute. But I def would not tolerate the service again but I smiled throughout pretending nothing was wrong. read more

They have a ton of funky options on the menu, so I would recommend to look at it before coming! It's not your normal breakfast joint. I got the carrot cake pancakes which were good but very sweet! read more

Cheyenne is the best bartender in the world. She is a happy person, making happy people! She always takes care of all of her guest! Not just the regulars. She is hardworker! I would come and hang out with her and the entire Egg crew! They're all really super great people. If you tell Myles or Josh I sent you (They're the managers) they might slide you something sweet! Jk. They'd kill me. The food is always great and if you learn the menu you can get a pretty cheap meal. I always loved to go with a classic waffle with Pecans! But they're omelettes comes out very quick! Absolutely love the team at ABE. I personally recommend it to all my friend. Another Broken Egg is like having breakfast with your extended family. Amazing breakfast spot! Their eggs benedict is a must order in my opinion, whether it be the classic or any other spin they have on it! Staff were super attentive and friendly. Parking is somewhat rough due to being on campus but it's worth it for a great breakfast. My wife and I will absolutely be coming back for more! read more

The food was great. Our server Ash was fantastic and very attentive. This was the 3rd time at Broken Egg and we look forward to more.

The Bloody Mary pitcher had ZERO garnishments, completely opposite to the advertisement and $32.00 you spend on it. It was bland and no care went into it, just vodka and some mix. The creole was out at 11am....and for some reason they couldn't just make the grit cakes and serve it. They had no shrimp either. The grits had this huge chunk of grits in it and we had to send that back as well. Overall this place has declined so terribly in the four years we've been living here. It is not worth the price, and service is sub par. We will not be recommending any longer. read more

They are very busy on the weekends so plan ahead. The gluten free pancakes are some of the best in the business. The prices are very fair and you get value for the spend. The wait staff is typically college students, and they are very attentive even while very busy. No real downsides to speak of for this place. read more

This is my favorite place to take my friends when they're in town. Incredible Mimosas and bloody Mary's (that aren't watered down)! Friendly staff and well priced food. It's very clean inside and during Covid I definitely felt safe dining here. I have noticed that their outdoor furniture bobs around and it makes dining frustrating. Aim for the indoor dining room! read more

As busy as this place was on a Saturday morning, we got in quickly, and our food came out quickly as well. I had the cinnamon bread French toast and my daughter had the berry pancakes. Both excellent. I had eggs over hard with potatoes and a side of andouille sausage. It was good. It has a nice smoky flavor and not very spicy. Then we ordered some Benoit's and took most home. The prices are a little higher, but the food is really good read more

An absolute delight when it comes to breakfast and brunch classics. I went here for the first time this morning, and the interior instantly charmed me, with its red walls and modern decour, and the waitresses were the most friendly I have ever come across anywhere so far. I was asked if I had ever been there before, strangely, but I was soon enlightened that new customers got a free half-order of their mini-beignets, which further reinforced my good first impression. Beignets are hard to find anywhere outside of the south, and while their mini ones didn't quite stack up to a full-sized beignet, they were delicious nonetheless (though hard to eat neatly with a beard and black clothing, on account of the powdered sugar). It was hard choosing what I wanted from their posh and delectable-sounding items, like bananas foster pancakes, chocolate-ganache stuffed waffles, sweet potato waffle, lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes, cinnamon roll french toast, lobster and brie omelette, chicken and waffles -- on and on. I decided to be adventurous with the unique "crab cake benedict," though, described as jumbo crab cakes served on an English muffin, topped with poached eggs, an "Andouille-infused" hollandaise sauce, and served with a side of potatos or grits. I don't often associate fish (except for smoked salmon) with breakfast, and crab cakes are always a risky business anyways (you can either be served a very good one, or else one that gives you the runs six hours later because of food poisoning). Fortunately, there was no fishy business -- the crab cake was tender and went surprisingly well with the poached egg and hollandaise sauce (which had actual Andouille sausage in it, far from just being "infused"). The potatoes were acceptable -- a little dry, and my only gripe was that there was ~$1.30 charge extra for them putting cheese and bacon bits on them, which was not made known to me when it was offered while ordering. I'd say you should probably go for the grits instead. At any rate, I will certainly be returning, and hopefully I will have just as excellent an experience as I explore their other options. read more

I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict which was really good. It comes with a side of potatoes or fruits. This is a cute little breakfast place adjacent to the Purdue campus (located, conveniently, across the street from the Armstrong Building). It's busy for brunch, so there is a wait to get seated, but otherwise service is friendly and speedy. My server, Brianna, was very nice and had great timing. They definitely earn their tips here! I got a Cranberry Mimosa, which was tart and tasty and perfect for the humid and rainy morning. I ordered Shrimp and Grits for my meal-it's a southern themed restaurant. The actual grits themselves are plain and overly bland, but a good texture. The accompanying sauce and baby shrimp/ sausage add the perfect amount of spice, and the garlic bread pancake things on the side are buttery and tasty. Worth the wait! read more

Fantastic experience, hearty menu, home cooking tastes, excellent service, smart location in the engineering nook alongside Purdue's Northwestern busy traffic with a smattering of parking in the back, our group of 3 enjoyed it all. Prices are (as other reviewers noticed) annoyingly high for the common and budget friendly of farm bird creations. We managed to overlook the easy $15 spent on an entree taking a liking to the extra fancy options like lobster & brie, crawfish, and chorizo with hollandaise sauce spread in many places. I'll probably get back once or twice a year when my wallet allows; the Lafayette area hosts many wonderful spots chuck full of excellent flavors and value, Town & Gown, Bru Burger, and Greyhouse give some of the best all round menus at better prices, emphasis on Greyhouse's crepes. My current favorite breakfast spot goes to (runner's up) Town & Gown's Eggs Benedict and (winner) Sacred Ground's egg wraps and biscuits n gravy (generous amount of food for about $7) - would love to see this place promote a healthy reward's program to balance the budget a bit! read more

I ordered their Eggs Benedict with potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was too heavy, the two poached eggs were overdone for my taste, food temperature could have been hotter. Best advice is to keep your breakfast wishes very simple. Service was very good and I was seated promptly. read more

I WANT THEIR HONEY-CHIPOTLE SAUCE! IF THEY BOTTLE IT, I'M PERFECTLY WILLING TO PAY FOR IT AND THE SHIPPING IT WOULD REQUIRE! Okay, on a more serious note, excellent place. Seriously, it's adorable and (more importantly) is at a REALLY CONVENIENT LOCATION. The food definitely has a Southwestern or Southern feel to it, and more than a little reminded me of brunch places in SoCal. This probably partially has to do with the fact they actually have seafood on their brunch menus, not a thing I see very much with other local brunch places. There's also a feel that it's a bit more meant for adults/college students than it is for kids. What's offered kinda hints at it being meant for a sophisticated kind of brunch or lunch. I go there on three kinds of occasions/situations. First is when I need a kind of very professional , but warm restaurant. Meaning, this is a great place to take someone out for a meal like an adviser, a professor, an out-of-town speaker, etc. Second kind of occasion is when I have a class at EE or Armstrong and I'm about ready to pass the fuck out but know I need to eat something. So when I'm in a true "fuck-it" mood and decide I'm going to treat myself for the next two hours before I need to go to my next class, I go here rather than the food stall in Armstrong. I get the Steak Benedict or the Chicken and Waffles and munch on things until I feel human again. Third type is just when I'm going out with friends and family. This is a GREAT place to go out with girl friends. Talk, hang out, laugh, drink mimosas or have more coffee (the coffee cups are so cute). It's trendy without being hipster, hearty and tasty food, and a warm, stylish ambiance. Oh, and your mom will probably love it. FOR PEOPLE WHOSE MOMS WILL BE VISITING CAMPUS ON MOTHER'S DAY, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. But if you decide on that, remember to make reservations really fucking early. You're going to be competing for seats with (other) graduating students who also want to take their parents out. Service is great and so many of the waiters/waitresses have a good sense for when to and not to interact with a person. Plenty of variety, and I just love their potato sides. They're so crispy ad well seasoned. Portions are pretty big and there was definitely thought process going into the flavor profiles of different items. Also, there's bar and a game on if you want, or just order from the bar if you want to get drunk in the morning (no judgement, we've all been there and it doesn't feel all that different from sleep deprivation). I encourage everyone to try this place out at least once while you're at Purdue, as it has the kind of flavor that everyone would like. If you find that you like it, come back and explore the menu some more. read more

Another Broken Egg reminds me of a more upscale Bob Evans or Denny's. The menu has traditional breakfast foods as well as fun twists on classics. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was great! I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and it was delicious. I also chose to get potatoes on the side, they have the best fried potatoes. It is on the pricey side, but I think it is definitely worth it if you are wanting to treat yourself to breakfast or brunch. read more

As an alum and now resident of Lafayette, I am super happy to have this addition to the neighborhood. When I was a student there wasn't much built up around Mackey, so I'm happy to see this change! The decor is adorable and this place feels super clean. They have a full bar, which I was surprised to see, and the staff was super friendly. This is not your typical breakfast/brunch "diner." You can traditional breakfast fare, but overall, their menu is more decadent and unique--you do pay for a higher quality meal. If you want something cheap and easy, I would recommend Triple XXX. They offer breakfast apps to share and I wanted them all. We decided on the City Grits-which were delicious cheese grits, topped with green onion-bacon-tomato. They were the best grits I've ever eaten, hands down! My husband and I were in the mood for morning booze, so he went for the mimosa. I went for the decadent option, their Spiked Nutella Iced Latte. It had coffee, Nutella, and RumChata poured over ice with whipped cream, bacon strip, and a freshly made beignet on top. Is it over the top, yes, but it was so worth it! Our daughter got the Little Rooster, which had scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, and an English muffin. My husband ordered the Traditional-which was as it sounds. Eggs, red skin potatoes, bacon, and an English muffin. I splurged for their Flan stuffed French toast, served with eggs and bacon. It was super tasty, but the eggs aren't necessary in the meal. We left super stuffed and excited to return soon. While everything was good, I would probably go the savory route next time and try their shrimp & grits. They offer a few lunch options as well & I noticed that they cater if you or your company would want to try them out! We will definitely be repeat customers. read more

We were seated quickly. Atmosphere very nice. Drinks and delivered quickly. We placed our order after that service was patchy, nothing came out at same time , food was just slightly warm. They got order wrong we sat another 20 minutes and waited for guest to ear her food was hot. They then said their would be no charge for guest their was, lol they took off the order we did not order they got wrong in first place (did they think we should have been charged for an order that was not placed and was not eaten lol. Have come here years before and have to say that the quality of food and service has declined since then. Ordered a black coffee and asked for non dairy milk and was given coconut cream.... um how does a restaurant in this age still not carry non dairy milk? Just source it from a grocery store it's like a 5 minute drive. We ordered no eggs and just sausage for a side and was given eggs with bacon ... I don't understand if these waitresses can't hear or what but coconut cream is not milk and no eggs does not mean eggs. Anyways, the portions are ridiculously ginormous so better not eat for some time prior to coming unless you wanna waste half a meal. read more

Busiest brunch place on campus! Really good breakfast food, pretty good variety, and ok customer service. I had a pretty bad experience last time I was there. I went with 2 other friends and we all got omelette dishes assuming eggs don't take that long to cook. We were in a rush between classes and allotted 2 hours to spend here. It took almost 45 minutes for our food to come out (after putting in our order) and our food was only luke-warm borderline cold. Our waitress failed to check in on us or reassure us when our food was coming, so we were pretty upset. All was redeemed at the end of our meal, our waitress explained everything and gave us free coupons for beignets. All is good in the world :) I've tried the eggs Benedict, variety of omelette and chilaquiles. Everything was delicious, especially with a mimosa on the side. Broken egg is more on the pricey side, but the quality of food is better than other places. TLDR: Expect a long wait, especially Sunday mornings. Great breakfast for a little extra $$. read more
