Long wait despite checking in on line- on line times did not match real life wait!! Service was friendly and prompt. Food was average.

Always on the lookout for restaurants that offer outdoor dining (my wife and I are still not comfortable eating indoors), we decided to try this place, and had an excellent breakfast here today. Because classes are no longer in session and the students are gone, we were able to get an outdoor table at 8am with no lines or waiting at all (in fact there was nobody else wanting an outdoor table), which I gather is not a likely event during the academic year. I had signed up for their online loyalty program and as a result got an email offer for a free order of beignets, which were excellent. (Other reviewers seem to suggest that they got a full order of complimentary beignets, but we got a half order of four. Maybe that's because there were only two of us.) My wife had the cinnamon roll french toast and I had the Bourbon Street pancakes (with no walnuts). At about 15 dollars each, these items were not cheap, but each came with eggs and meat, making them not-unreasonably priced. The portions were large, and we both took home half of our french toast and pancakes, respectively. The food was delicious. My wife thought her fried eggs were perfectly cooked and really enjoyed both them, the ham she ordered as her meat selection, and her french toast. My scrambled eggs were also good, the bacon was crisp but not burned (I believe the bacon is baked here, not fried), and the pancakes were outstanding. Service was also excellent. Even though we were outside, our waitress made frequent trips out to check on us, and our food was prepared and delivered promptly. We were very satisfied with our meal and will certainly come here again, frequently. read more

Summary: Food seems a little hit-and-miss; great service. My first time at Another Broken Egg Cafe. Came here with my husband on a Sunday around mid-morning for brunch. The wait was about 30 minutes long and we were seated at one of the high tables. I decided to try out one of their seasonal specials (Southern Benedict with potatoes) as they were going to be taking this off the menu shortly. My husband got the Chilaquiles. I can't recommend the Southern Benedict. The biscuit was dry and really bland, one poached egg was done well but the other was overcooked. The sausage was really good but there was way too much ham (that too very salty!) to really appreciate the flavours of the dish. The side of potatoes was pretty average, couldn't really taste any seasoning. Overall a pretty disappointing dish. We did inform our waitress about the salty ham and she took our feedback very well. The chilaquiles on the other hand was definitely better. Well garnished. I thought it was a little meat-heavy but some people may really enjoy this. Coffee: Not the greatest. And was lukewarm when served. Because it was my first time we got treated with their classic sugar dusted beignets which were an absolute delight! Would I go back? All I can say is wow. After 4 years of attending Purdue, I decided to try Another Broken Egg Cafe and was extremely impressed. Positives -Food: The food is incredible with flavors and combinations that you really can't get anywhere else. The vibe is Cajun with many of the dishes having crawfish, anduille, shrimp, etc, but they also have traditional fares for anyone. The chefs really put craft into their dishes. -Service: It's tough to get a table on the weekends, but the staff is super nice. Our waitress was very accommodating, kept refills coming promptly, and aided in our questions on the menu. -Drinks: They have really good coffee, brunch cocktails, and specialty coffee/sweet drinks for anyone to enjoy. Negatives -Price: While the food is quite good, the price is pretty steep for most college students or really anyone getting brunch/breakfast. Most dishes are 12-18$, coffee 3.50$, and specialty drink 5+$ vs the typical 6-10$ fares at many diners around. Another broken egg is perfect for any craving. The service could be better, but the overall atmosphere is great and cheery.

tldr: The food here is solid/fine, like you'd expect at a breakfast diner. But the prices are more like restaurant level rather than cheap diner level. The result is a fairly satisfying breakfast for more money than I'd expect to spend. My girlfriend and I shared a plate of plain French toast, which was not great (not hot, rubbery). We also shared a seafood omelette, which was good (lots of shrimp, pretty big, sauce on top). This came with an English muffin (like the French toast, not hot), a small bowl of grits (fine, plain), and a piece of ham (nice flavor). We were supposed to get a side of bacon too but only got one strip. Weird? She also got coffee and we spent $35 with tip. So again it's not like the food was bad, but it was just okay for that much money. They do have a nice feature on the menu of writing how many calories each dish has. This is helpful for portion control! We went on a Saturday morning around 9am and it was not busy (we were seated right away). By 10 or so it got a bit crowded. read more

I ordered the lobster and brie omelette with an English muffin and fresh country potatoes. The omelette was okay. It was pretty bland and unimpressive. The omelette tasted a lot more fishy than I was expecting. The potatoes were pretty good. My meal was really big and kept me full for several hours. We did get our potatoes replaced with fruit and there were no problems - so that was nice. Attended a business lunch here with a customer. Overall we were happy with the visit. Quick seating in a large booth, TVs in some locations for glancing views, the bar looks well stocked. The only parking is behind the building, and it's hard to find if you're not familiar with the location. Either you drive around from behind the parking garage off Grant Street, or turn east on Stadium Avenue and turn again behind the McDump. I would go here again, but it's not on my regular list. Excellent pre-game breakfast! We got there around 9:00, and didn't have to wait for a table. Others that arrived after weren't as lucky and had to wait. 4-tops, booths, and bar seating. Full service wait staff and payment at the table. Extensive menu! All you could ask for concerning breakfast, including a large selection of gluten free dishes. I had the gluten (friendly) free --no guarantee of being totally free of gluten due to cross contamination-- pancakes. Very good, but slightly soggy. Two pancakes, too big to finish! Eggs and bacon that come along are standard and good. Coffee good as well! My non-gf family had the beignets as a starter and loved them. They come with orange marmalade sauce. Located in an odd spot and indifferent about the wait, it was a pleasant surprise. With a modern and clean interior we were greeted by an eager and friendly staff. Everyone was very pleasant to work with. We ordered the lobster Brie and cheese omelet and broken egg biscuit sandwich. Both plates were generous and filling. The omelet was extremely rich. It was savory and very decadent with the Brie, cream cheese and loads of lobster. Accompanying it was a generous cup of fresh fruit. The sandwich wasn't a pick up and eat lunch, rather neat but eaten best with a fork and to really indulge, order it with an extra side of gravy! The sandwich was an over size biscuit with a chicken tender on it covered it n Country gravy! Oh buddy, this is Nirvana after a day tailgating if you know what I mean! ; ) The coffee was a hearty cup. Not the lightweight wussy stuff watered down by so many places. It is hyper sized on the caffeine. The only negative is that the wait is sooo long when smelling what is cooking. The food was disappointing, but the service was decent. I ordered take out during my lunch and was extremely pleased with how fast I received my food. The actual food however was very disappointing. I ordered the Floridian Omelet with potatoes and English muffin. The omelets flavor seemed to get worse with each bite. The combination of crab and cheese just didn't seem to work together in flavors, at least for me. There was also just a huge glob of cream cheese in the middle. So big that it was room temp at best while the rest of the omelet was hot. I tried to eat it all because It's the most expensive omelet I have ever bought, I just couldn't manage it. My photos are how far I got. The omelet was big and the egg part of it was wonderful the flavors just didn't seem to go together. I was extremely disappointed in the omelet. The potatoes and English muffin were good but I didn't receive any condiments for them (I should have thought to ask) I wouldn't suggest to anyone I know to eat here but I also wouldn't caution them away. I've been excited to try this place for a long time. The location is a little strange and I can see how parking would be a mess on game days or weekends. It's a pretty small restaurant. Service was excellent. I had the eggs Benedict which was perfect. The eggs were just right and the ham was great. I got a fruit cup instead of potatoes which was $2.50 more. Seemed high to me, including the fact that they sell orange juice for $4 a glass! That's literally insane. I also ordered a side of "biscuits and gravy". I put it in quotes because the gravy was straight weird. It tasted like a chive party in my mouth. The biscuits were fluffy, but that gravy was just wrong. I took it to work and gave it to a coworker. My friend ordered the pound cake French toast with eggs and sausage. She was really happy with it, as well as the banana fosters syrup. Lots of choices! If it's your first time there, they give you powdered sugar fritter-type yummies! I got the veggie omlet, but subbed a few items. They were more than accommodating. We chose to sit outside because it was pretty loud inside. (Even the waiter commented a few times how much quieter it was outside! Perhaps since it's Labor Day?!) I tried this place out with a couple friends. I had heard so much about it. It is definitely over hyped. Don't get me wrong, it's decent food, just not as amazing as it was talked up to be. The grits were kind of dry and I hated the texture of the sausage, it also had a weird flavor to it. The staff was very pleasant. Liked the fact that we could get in line via the yelp app! There was an hour and a half for others that showed up. We got seated within 5 mins of our scheduled arrival time! We ordered the Monterey Omelette with egg whites and Marde Gras omelette. A little confusion on charges for coffee and charges for coffee with a shot of Baileys. It we cleared it up. When I lived in Indianapolis I went to this place every Sunday for years- so coming to Lafayette I had high expectations which were met by far! The waiter and girl she was training were both really friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the Chilaquiles and my guest ordered an omelet. We both enjoyed our food. I especially liked the side I got which was black beans with goat cheese sprinkled on top. It had amazing flavor and the chilaquiles had just the right about the kick. The coffee was great as well- they had medium and dark roast to choose from. I will definitely be coming back next week! read more
