    Apple Pie Mimosa

Of course, this wasn't my first time here but I did try some new things off of their seasonal menu. For our drink we decided to try a picture of the apple pie mimosa. It was a tangy but sweet drink that we finished with our meals. I ordered the Apple Crunch French Toast and my bf ordered the Abe Hot Chicken and Biscuits. Both meals were delicious but the French toast was amazing! I'm currently trying to find a recipe to replicate it. Everything complemented each other so well. My server was very helpful and sweet. I was brought out the wrong meal and she made sure that I was brought the correct one and that we were well taken care of. It surprisingly wasn't that busy when we went but it's usually flowing with people. It was perfect for a brunch date. Will return!

Amazing service, drinks and food. Best cheese grits I've ever had. Menu selection was vast and server's knowledge was most appreciated.

First time here and did not disappoint! Brunch was absolutely delicious! Very clean and our server Kate was so sweet. We had Abe Cyclone's to drink and I had the lobster and Brie omelette and my friend had the apple fritter French toast. Both cooked to perfection and are highly recommended. And the loaded grits made with Gouda, bacon and green onion were AMAZING!!! Will be back to try more!!

Love this place! The service was really good and everything came out fast. My only complaints were that the potatoes didn't taste fresh and the gumbo had a slight fishy taste. Other than that, everything else was great and I would still come back!

Another Broken Egg is a place I constantly forget about because I just don't see them often anymore. I was in the area and decided to stop by for pancakes and their lunch duo with fried chicken salad and jambalaya. The pancakes were good, fried chicken salad was nothing special, jambalaya was a pool of oil (the oil was covered by the egg). My server Stacy was sweet, however, she was inattentive, made no table touches, was more concerned about if she was closing today. My issue could have been resolved long before it was if she had checked in. There were tables and floors that needed attention. A server almost slipped on a butter packet that was dropped by a previous server who just left it. Salt and pepper grinders need to be wiped. The server waiting tables directly across from me (black young lady with a long braided ponytail) was great though. I witnessed her constantly check in with her tables, she was personable, smiling, quick on her feet. A couple of people who she checked out complimented her service as well. Should you go here? Maybe. Everyone else appeared to enjoy their visits.

The shrimp n grits is definitely my go to at ABE! My group and I were able to be seated quickly early on a Saturday morning. Our server wasn't good but everything else was. Not my favorite brunch spot anymore but still a good pick.

Our server today was Alex. He was very attentive and also suggested entrées to us. My brunch date had never been here before, but he was very impressed with the shrimp and grits. He got a bloody Mary that he really liked I got an apple mimosa that was delicious. I got the eggs Benedict. Not sure if I would get them again. The ham was very thick but other than that, it was delicious. The breakfast potatoes were a little dry, but I got a ranch on the side. I've been coming here for years and I've never had a bad experience. It's kind of hidden and if you're not familiar with it, you probably would never go. But I encourage you to try out this brunch place. It's so delicious.

For French toast with side of fruits and grits - there two sides were substitutes to meat options

Excellent food and service Love this place - best thing is to get on wait list Their coffee is amazing - they even have a decaf option

Had an overall okay experience -- it wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. It was half empty when we went for brunch, but our waitress was awfully slow and we sat there waiting for a bit to order. She also wasn't friendly either. My water glass came with food stains so I asked for a new water, but the waitress didn't take the old glass with the stain away. The food was alright -- the hash brown benedict was too salty, but I did appreciate how crispy it was. The poached eggs were very dense in texture and had no flavor. The side potatoes weren't even remotely warm, just cold. The soft shell scrambler was alright, nothing special. The apricot streusel pancakes were insanely sweet, and the eggs and sausage that came with it were also cold. Given our experience, we're not too inclined to come back. Maybe it was because it was a slower day that the quality of the food wasn't that great, but also it was a Friday afternoon. This place wasn't the worst, but I feel like there are better brunch places around.

Excellent morning cocktails and rotating seasonal menu make this one of our favorite brunch spots in Birmingham!

Carmel iced coffee. We ordered two. They were two different colors, but good.

Today was a bit of an off day. Hubby ordered lobster has with hollandaise. The roasted tomato sauce was just okay. Really soupy and heavy mushroom in the hash. The potatoes were mushy. My chicken and waffles was as expected. The coffee was good, and the server worked to try to compensate the food quality being off.

I went on a Saturday morning when they first opened. It's a fantastic location; the staff offers excellent suggestions. The omelet is very light and delicious, and it is cooked fresh. The building has very good natural lighting. Please stop by and see the staff soon to try the coffee. This was a good visit.

Tiramisu French Toast, very solid seasonal dish! Get it while it last!

Working in Birmingham, AL for the week and it's dinnertime! So I did some Yelp'ing with my…read moreco-worker and he was craving a burger. I found this place, we came and here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set a little outside of downtown in a more urban, industrial-like area in this gem. The neighborhood was pretty quiet and we were able to find some street parking nearby. The Avondale Common House was smooth, welcoming and chill. I remember seeing the lights hanging on the roof and thinking, "yeah, I'm gonna like it here". Once inside it felt like an upscale neighborhood bar if that makes any sense. Lol. There were tons of stickers on the host stand and random license plates above it which gave it a more personal touch, like customers have come and left their mark. However, the bar looked modern, the tables are all wood with one-piece metal chairs and the ceiling had this super-cool wavy look to it! I had never seen anything like it before. Service: Riley took excellent care of us and I had no complaints. Food: I started off with the Berns Blackberry beer and it was delicious. It hardly tasted anything like beer. It had a fruity-sweetness to it and was moderately heavy. For dinner I went with their Common Burger. It contains 2 well-done smashburger patties topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, garlic aioli and a American cheese on a brioche bun. I added bacon and at the time, was able to substitute chihuahua cheese instead of the American. This was such a clutch sub because the Chihuahua cheese is creamy, with some great hints of acid flavor and it was super melty. The burger as a whole was delightful and quite flavorful. Value: Back then this burger was $13.00 and $1.50 to add bacon. That same burger now goes for $16.00 and it's still $1.50 for the bacon. Damn that inflation. SMH. But anyway, this place won't break the bank. It's a chill spot where it can be date night, gathering with friends or whatever. In conclusion, I really liked this place and I would totally pay them another visit if I'm in the area. You should check them out too!

The chicken fingers were way overcooked, dry, and stringy. The fish and chips fared better, but it wasn't much more than a step above Captain D's. There was a bit of a wait before my order was taken, but honestly, it worked out in my favor because it gave me plenty of time to look over the menu. There were so many tempting options that it was honestly hard to decide! I ultimately chose three items and enjoyed a few bites of each. Ham & Fontina Scone: This was my first time trying a scone, and I was pleasantly surprised. The texture reminded me of a dry biscuit, but the ham added a delicious savory flavor that I really enjoyed. Frittata Plate: The frittata was SO good! It wasn't too dry, and all of the flavors worked really well together. It was served with polenta, which reminded me of really fine grits, along with fruit. After trying it, I realized that one entrée would definitely be enough for me to enjoy on its own. Breakfast 'ZA: This was essentially a breakfast pizza topped with a fried egg, and the egg was such a nice touch. The 'ZA itself was really good, although I think adding something similar to a gravy or sauce would make it a little less dry. Even without it, though, the fried egg really took it to another level. Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso: I decided to try the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso, which was the barista's pick. This was my first time having a shaken espresso, and I'm so glad I gave it a try! It was refreshing and perfect for a hot day. The inside of Trattoria ZaZa is nice, although it is somewhat small, so I opted to sit outside. It was a very warm day, but the awning provided plenty of shade and made the outdoor seating comfortable. I also appreciated that, even though the restaurant doesn't have traditional table service, someone periodically checked on me to make sure I didn't need anything else. Overall, I had a great brunch experience at Trattoria ZaZa. There were plenty of menu options, the food was flavorful, and I really enjoyed trying a few things that were new to me. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying more of the menu!
