Ordered a club sandwich and a omelet online via their website. Nothing fancy. Just had an op the week before so was venturing into eating more solid foods. My husband had the club and I had the lobster omelet. Well, before we could even taste them, I looked at the clock. It had been an hour. My phone dings. It's the restaurant. It says contact Favor for delivery instructions even though I had ordered through the restaurant website. Strange. I was even charged $4.99 for it. So I called in and they had every excuse as to why our food hadn't arrived, why it had gone through Favor (though not clue from the website). It was a clusterf*ck. Finally, my husband said he'd go pick it up and I asked for a discount. The owner said sure, he'd take the deliver fee off!!!! My husband was going to PICK THE FOOD UP!!!! What a dumba**. My taste-buds were eagerly waiting in anticipation for the most delicious omelet when I read this on the wall of this cafe - "It is the mission of Another Broken Egg of America, Inc. to be the world's best breakfast, brunch and lunch cafe, ...." - "world's best" is something not to be taken lightly and care must be taken to make sure it is indeed the best. Unfortunately, the veggie omelet was far from simply being just good - never mind the world's best. Eggs and the veggies were not working together and the flavor was simply not there. Salt and pepper shakers couldn't help for the missing flavors. Country potatoes tasted decent but seem like a lazy knockoff for the herb potatoes with rosemary, parsley etc. To know a good omelet, one must watch the videos by Jacques Pepin and Julia Child. Yes their videos are geared more towards the French omelet but basic general principles can be applied to making any style of omelet. Flavor should be universal and shouldn't be solely left to the mercy of salt and pepper and ketchup and other afterthought condiments. These salt, pepper etc should be used to complement the basic flavor profile but here I was using it to fill the void created as a result of absence of the basic standalone flavor. On the plus side, service was great and the people working here are friendly. Coffee was hot and flavorful. And the beignets with orange marmalade were tasty as well. read more

Food, ambience and service is amazing! as long as you get there early before lunch time. Came here with my kiddos and my mom for brunch on Friday wanting to try a different place where they serve breakfast and lunch and Another Broken Egg was the perfect place for that. I walked in and gave them the number of my party and they said that I will hate to wait about 30 minutes however due to the high capacity I actually waited like 45 minutes but I won't allow 15 minutes to ruin my experience (however it almost did). I liked that their entrees consists of cajun flavors, I personally am a fan of many spices and flavors in my dishes and I went with the sausage, crawfish and egg skillet and I have to say that it was amazing! The staff was really nice and I loved the place. It is now one of our favorite places to come. read more

Ah, Another Broken Egg, easily one of my top brunch spots in Houston. Food is top of the line, service is quick, and they are very consistent in quality of both food and service. I have to admit, this place has a special place in my heart. I tried them out when they first opened, and now I rely on this spot for brunch anytime I'm around. The food tends to be on the heavier side, which is a downside to this whole review. So it's definitely not a place you can come to frequently, because too much can make you sick. But aside from that, the food tastes great! And I have to recommend the shrimp and grits. Outside of NOLA, this is hands down the BEST shrimp and grits I've had. It's amazing. The coffee and drinks are otherwise not super outstanding, just average. But the food is so stellar that it definitely makes up for it. I have been to this location twice in the last year and both times were excellent. What I remember from my late November visit was the amazing pumpkin latte! What prompted me to write a review was my brunch last week. Although it was a Saturday morning, and they were a bit busy, we got seated right away by the polite young lady a the front desk. II love the 2 person booths by the front window. The vibe was "sunny, summery, lazy brunch" with the perfect peach bellini - which actually was perfect, by the way. The beignet biscuits were the perfect start. They came out quickly, and very warm. They were such a wholesome spin on the traditional beignet that they didn't survive long enough for a photo. So my entree was the Lobster & Brie Omlette. And I must say, if you only have one opportunity to have brunch here, order it! This review is strictly based on carry-out experience. Def one of those places you drive by always thinking to yourself, "dang, I need to try this place..." but most often you never actually do...well, this COVID-19 pandemic really has me taking advantage of carry out these days. From the looks of it, food quality and presentation is great when you dine-in (based on what my fiance saw when he picked up our food)...but I don't recommend doing carry out here. Breakfast foods can be tricky when packaging...because well, there's alot of gooey, melty, and potentially soggy items that require smart packaging to keep food fresh and warm. I ordered a southwest scramble and my fiance ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of (2x) peach cobbler pancakes!...both of our meals came with a side of grits or your choice of country potatoes, and I'd say for the price and portions, you get what you pay for. Back to the packaging, if you're going to package carry out for a scramble, using those eco-friendly recyclable paper material probably isn't the best idea. The bottom of the to go box was pretty damp and soggy by the time my fiance brought home the food. Not only that, the food had already lost its freshness, and the cheese they sprinkled on top was already cool/cooled off, and dry by the time I tried to mix everything together. I would recommend using the clear plastic to go containers, in order to avoid soggy bottoms, and keep the food warm and fresh. I highly recommend their country potatoes! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and I appreciated that they put these in a separate cup container so that it didn't get soggy with my southwest scramble. They have your choice of grits or their custom "city grits" which includes, bacon, green onion, and cheese on top...if you like traditional grits, I would recommend just getting regular grits, because the city grits has more of a creamy mashed potato texture, so it almost feels like a loaded mashed potato for breakfast, ha!...Pancakes were delicious as well, but I would heed on ordering a lot of food here unless you plan on sharing. Portions are pretty big here! Sharing is definitely caring here! I don't mind giving this place another chance, definitely want to dine-in to get both experiences! side note: ironically, I seem to forget to take photos during my not so great experiences...don't know why, but I'll try to remember next time! read more

I would give this 0 stars if I could. Found this establishment on Yelp. Despite the negative reviews we decided to give it a try. This is the first time in all my life I can say that the negative reviews live up to their reputation. It started with us using the waitlist option on Yelp, which is a phenomenal way to do this. We were given a 37-41 minute wait time. We arrived 20 minutes later as that is how far it is from our home. After checking in my husband was told it was actually going to be a 55-60 minute wait. He inquired about the waitlist option and was told finally after having to confirm several times that the time since being added to list would be deducted. This hostess was extremely rude, disrespectful and short with her answers. The other hostesses (yes there were 4 total standing up there not doing a thing other than gossiping) stood there and said nothing. We waited an additional 20 minutes, which now takes us to the 40 minutes suggested on the wait time. We decided to go back in not knowing how we would be told our table was available. Something that any hostess should provide as information upon checking in. The same hostess acted like she didn't know who we were. Any time we told her our name she would purposely say it in a different way. After she "finally" got it right she said we had 20 more minutes at least. When we asked about the wait time she said well it told you it was going to be an hour wait. This was a complete lie. I only now wish the app provided you a confirmation when you were added or that I had taken a screenshot. Since we had invested so much time in waiting already, we went back to our car to wait for text message telling us table was ready. 45 MINUTES LATER!!! We still hadn't gotten a message. At this point due to the hostess lack of customer service we started to look for another restaurant for breakfast...which had long switched to lunchtime during our 1-1/2 wait. We quickly found another eatery, called and were told we could get in immediately. And this isn't because they aren't busy. It's because their host, wait, kitchen and management staff are amazing. We had what appears to be twice the food you'd get here. Left with a very enjoyable experience and vowed to continue to go back ourselves and with all the family and friends who come down to visit. I am sure this will be blamed on the current pandemic state. However I only see that excuse from businesses that don't have a good sense of how to operate and provide and exceptional Customer Service experience. Another reason we decided to try this place despite the negative reviews was that upper management seemed to engage with those who had unpleasant experiences. This was my first visit to this establishment and boy was I impressed with their menu choices. The breakfast menu is fairly extensive with a lot of good choices. I ordered the shrimp and grits (city-style adds smoked Gouda cheese) and this dish was one of the best versions of shrimp and grits I've eaten. It had a nice blend of creole spices that created a silky smooth sauce which incorporated andouille sausage along with plenty of shrimp. The portion was just right for a brunch (and even dinner). The restaurant did a good job of practicing social distancing and all the staff wore face mask (a huge added value for everyone's health), our server was friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly despite the busy morning rush. Their menu prices were reasonable considering the quality of food and the portions. The restaurant was clean as was their restroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely return to sample more of their menu items. read more

Without the waitlist, though, that 15 minutes would've easily turned into 40...especially on a Sunday! I can understand why, though. The cocktails are plentiful and the food is delicious. I couldn't resist indulging in the shrimp benny (because seriously...which other restaurant you know has a shrimp Benedict??), and I'm happy I did. It was delicious! Okay so.... Was very hopeful after the beignets but ugh what a let down... I ordered the lakeshore scramble and it was very bland. I substituted the eggs for egg whites but I didn't mean substitute the flavor. Side note side potatoes were tasty. I also tasted the Stan#1 omelette which was better than my scramble. However The shrimp that come in this are not fresh. They are the small frozen ones that come in the bag at your nearest local grocers freezer (insert unhappy face) Afterwards I've come to the conclusion I will not be running here for breakfast or enduring the 1hour wait to seat not too mention the 40 minutes after we've seated to actually get our meal. Service was not grade A, although they did give us ANOTHER order of beignets on the house bc there was a mix up with our order being entered. I ordered beignets before knowing about the yelp deal, which worked out perfectly! Crispy, soft and chewy. The marmalade was the best part. Cappuccino was fine, nothing super special. Disappointed they didn't have cold drinks because we love to sip on frappes. The crab cake Benedicts were awesome! Perfectly cooked crab, egg and sauce, great potatoes, and the English muffin was great too. I'm happy I went with that choice. I also liked that vegetarian options were clearly stated. The French toast with berries was great too. Our waitress was very nice, as was everyone else, like the person who seated us and brought out our food and everything. I wasn't going to write a review. However, in the current situations I'm sure other people and management needs to know. So we went close to closing. The hostess sat us outside(per request). She kept saying "pick your seats". Confused because every table outside was dirty! We chose the "cleaner" table. So instead of having someone or cleaning the table herself she just removed the glass that was present and said "it's cleaned now". She had an attitude, not sure why. So after almost 5 mins we waited for someone to come to serve us and no one came. So we final went inside. My only issue is: every table should be cleaned after service!! We're nurses and have seen firsthand how the virus has affected people! So for her to just assume the table is "cleaned" after removing a glass is unreal!!! Often, I visit places that positively confirm what others say about it and then there are places that leave me plain baffled. This place leaves me baffled. I don't really get the draw. I know that I'm going to have to visit a few more times to find out what the hype is all about, but for now, I'm going to explain the two stars they got from me. First, let's not be coy. There are places where I've known people to wait hours for an experience...and then there are those that are just too small to fit a good amount of people in. This place is freaking small! So, umm....yeah, there's a wait. I mean, the front desk/waiting area is teeny, so if you get ten people standing in front of the door, everyone else will have to wait outside. The online reservation (via Yelp) worked for my 8 y.o. and I, granted we chose to sit at the bar (which had the first available seats), but it was within the 15 minutes we were given online. Now, to get right to my point...the biscuit Beignets cost as much as a full order of classis Beignets and they didn't look worth the cost. My kiddo is on a hot chocolate kick with me now, so we thought we'd try one here. The hot chocolate comes in one size, a 10oz mug (a number of people are all giddy over the mug... sheesh) and 1/3 of the drink is just pure foam. I've had far better tasting hot chocolate, that came in a larger size, and didn't cost as much. Just sayin'... So, one of my main motivations for trying this place out was that I was looking for Chicken and Waffles and this place popped up in the list so I thought I'd try it. My kiddo saw Chocolate Chip Pancakes on the menu and we placed our orders. This breakfast was a FAIL! When the food came out, we had to look at each other in confusion. The chicken strips, on top of the waffle looked like they has just been pulled out of a Tyson's frozen pieces bag and dipped into hot grease...and they tasted just as bad as they looked! The waffle reminded me of an Eggo that I wanted to let go - there was nothing special about it. Here is the description of my kiddo's order, right from the menu: "CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES* Three kid-sized house-recipe cakes filled with chocolate chips and topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup..." Ummm....that is not what came to the bar. The pancakes looked like a giant compass. It had four chocolate straws stuck in four corners of the pancakes, with some chocolate melted underneath. He was not pleased and I couldn't explain. Like I mentioned, I'll have to try this place a few more times to see what the buzz is all about, but for now, I can't see repeating this breakfast SNAFU. read more
