My tattoo is of a panda and I wanted it facing myself instead of flipped around like normal tattoos. A group of friends and I came to Anonymous based off of yelp and google reviews being so high. Bad mistake. The guy who did my tattoos, Nick I think his name was, he had heavy eyeliner, was a jerk from the moment I met him. He was very condescending when I told him what I wanted and got annoyed when I made corrections to what he showed me. He made it very clear he did not want to do the small tattoos my friend and I requested. I tried to lighten the mood by making small talk with him and it seemed to make it worse. He free hand drew the tattoos on, which was fine and I approved. However, they turned out nothing like what he had drawn. Hindsight is 20/20 and I wish I had just waited for someone else. He got nasty and annoyed during our light hearted conversation. I made the comment that here I was getting a basic tattoo (a vine across my finger) and then made another comment about how they probably get lots of groups coming in to get basic tattoos. He got snappy and said "I wouldn't call someone a basic bitch, theres a reason why certain tattoos are popular, that doesn't make them a basic bitch".... I had never said anything about basic bitch. So on my second tattoo I felt like he was intentionally trying to hurt me by going much deeper and heavy handed than he did with the first tattoo, thankfully they were small. This is not my first tattoo and I understand that certain places hurt worse than others, but the whole experience was awful and I wish I had stopped after the first tattoo, but I was scared to make him even more annoyed and angry. I would recommend going here, but avoiding Nick as your artist. read more

While it wasn't my main reason for vising my best friend Kate in Savannah this past August, it did happen to be our ten year friendship anniversary. To commemorate our long friendship we decided to get matching diamond tattoos, the traditional ten year anniversary gift. Having only been living in Savannah for three months Kate had no idea who could give us a couple of glamourous old school style diamonds; however, when she came upon the Anonymous Tattoo website and found tattooist Zack Spurlock she knew he was the man for us. We couldn't have had a better experience Zack. Luckly he was able to fit up in last minute, we only decided to take this leap of love a week before I was to be in Savannah. He was super empathetic to Kate as she was very nervous as this was her first tatoo. Although she didn't let up complaining during her tattoo, he wasn't heavy-handed at all-she's just a wimp!, Zack was able to engage her in conversation to help her through. So much so that later on that evening Kate was telling me about the floral half sleeve she would like to someday get. Because Kate had to leave for work I was left with Zack to be tattooed by myself, and he was nothing but nice, chatting with me the whole time. Our tattoos both healed amazingly well and they were priced very reasonably to boot! The shop itself is a beautiful open loft setting, that gets an amazing amount of light. There are particians seperating each artist's area, but they are not closed off, which I found to be nice as it seemed to create a really open environment and friendly atmosphere. Now, I've finished 2 full color sleeves from Zack which equates to 75+hrs of actual tattooing. I honestly don't even know where to begin. There is so much quality work coming out of this shop. Every time I have left, I left with my expectations exceeded. I've since relocated to Hawaii, and have flown back to Savannah twice to get tattooed by Zack and Dean. This place gives a truly quality experience every time. This is the shop my whole family uses religiously. I have been tattooed here 4 times so far (I'll be back) and every single time, it has been an inviting place with wonderful atmosphere. It is much less aggressive when compared to other shops I've been in, very relaxing & comfortable. The walls are covered in original and imported art, so it's not boring to look around inside either, which is great because you're stuck in a chair for hours. Every artist is approachable and kind. Dean tattooed my mother and she was very happy with his work. Ricky (eye & strawberry) does great work with a very light hand. He is who both my brother and sister go to as well. Shaun's tattoos (unicorn & moth) heal faster than any tattoos I've gotten before, with less pain the day after, which is amazing, considering the tattoos from him are some of the largest of my 9. I've seen the other guys work and it's gorgeous as well. I get the impression everyone here is damn good at what they do. I can only vouch for Clay who did exquisite work on my arm. I went around Savannah looking for the perfect person to do this work, and I found him. He took my idea and replicated it perfectly, adding his own little touches which made the piece even better. He was awesome to work with and seem to know exactly what should be done when I brought the picture in for a consultation. When it came time to actually get the work done, he was really communicative of what we were gonna do, how it was gonna be done, and always checked with me and waited for my input. He was patient, helpful, and the work is too good to be true. I have to say I'm still waiting for it to finish healing, but I can tell it's perfect. And if you're gonna get something that takes up the entire upper half of your arm for the rest of your life, it better be perfect. Like everyone else, I found Anonymous Tattoo to be very clean, professional, friendly and all around amazing with their work. Anonymous has an atmosphere that feels friendly, but at the same time they get their work done quickly but very, very, very cleanly. I have been to many different tattoo places in Savannah and nobody quite compares to Anonymous. I always feel like I'm meeting friends with I walk in, it feels homey, it feels cozy, which is so important to me when I get tattooed. I took an idea to Dean and he turned it into something amazing. He made my idea a little bit bigger and added a few things to it - but also told me that these small changes would end up more beautiful than the original idea, and they did! I am incredibly satisfied with my forearm tattoo and I will be going back to him as my consistent artist for the rest of my arm. Dean was so nice, he conversed, he listened to my ideas for my arm, and told me which ideas would work best with my tattoo. While Dean was tattooing me, multiple artists in the studio would walk past and briefly chat with Dean and I, commenting on his work and compliment my choice for a tattoo. This was very refreshing to me, as I felt like I was hanging out with a bunch of friends - not getting tattooed, the open area provides that feel. Dean, Shaun, and Zack are all so talented and amazingly professional and friendly as well as humble. I honestly would not recommend any other tattoo place in Savannah, because my experience here was so awesome. After reading Yelp reviews on Anonymous Tattoos and Kim Reed, I decided she was the one to do my next tattoo. We started emailing, and she was incredibly helpful in setting up my appt (i was only in Savannah for a day) and working with my idea. I called and put a deposit down on the tattoo (goes toward the price of the piece as long as you show up) and was good to go 2 weeks ahead of time. The shop itself is a great space; very airy and tons of natural light. (I loved all the artwork on the walls) Everyone was friendly and welcoming. While I was in there, Rick was working on a very large piece on a young lady's torso and she took a break a couple times. I don't know a whole lot about tattoos, but I know art and his piece was break-taking. He is an amazing artist. But on to Kim. I loved her! She is a down-to-earth, no BS lady and her artwork exceeded my wildest dream! The only thing we changed on my piece was to have her do it in greyscale rather than color....she "got" that I wanted something delicate and feminine. It is truly a gorgeous piece of "jewelry" on my wrist. I enjoy showing it off. I would love to have her do another piece on me in the future. She is THAT GOOD.
