I picked up barbeque meals for the entire family--reasonably priced and excellent quality barbeque and the fixings! Our children and grandchildren all raved about their full-deal meals! The carry-out service was just great and so polite! Looked down at Instagram while at a stoplight and caught the burnt ends availability post a few minutes prior and headed straight there! The place smells SO killer, the menu today was chocked full (including BBQ nachos and a Greek salad as 2 other specials) and my burnt ends came out pretty quick but still needed 20 secs in the microwave from the ride home. While the chunks of meat themselves were somewhat dense, still juicy and not as fatty as I've had previously, they were EXTRA saucy, so much so that although I really wanted to add the mustard sauce, they came with so much of the 'sweet & smoky' (which is also good), I quickly realized it woulda been a waste. Besides the too-heavy saucing the other thing that stuck out from the visit was the price - $15 out-the-door for just that half pound. Annie's is located in one of the "sketchier" parts of Bloomington but the food is anything but sketchy. I was skeptical about it at first, but after trying it, it's become part of my restaurant rotation. First, you have to get yourself an appetizer. The BBQ Nachos are an absolute flavor bomb. The portion size here is so big you could honestly order it as a meal for one person. Eat them quickly or they will get soggy. Next, you have to get yourself an entree. The meat here never misses. I've had the pulled pork, chicken, and brisket sandwiches. The meat is ACTUALLY properly seasoned (imagine that), and is always beautifully tender. Just the smell of smoke walking up to the door says it all. Inside we met some locals (who have eaten everything on the menu, and recommend the daily special prime rib sandwich), to a couple of cops. Today was my first day trying Annie's after finding out about it a few weeks ago. The food and service were amazing! I love the open kitchen concept, the cleanliness, and the great customer service. I tried the two meat combo with the brisket, pulled pork, and a side of cheesy potatoes , and the iron beans. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. What a killer spot, hands down the best BBQ I've found in IL, possibly anywhere. My first time I went with the brisket based on recommendation from a friend. Absolutely killer flavor and cuts, trimmed right and not all loaded with fat like some places. I've also had the rib tips and pit beef since, both also incredible. As far as sides, the beans could be an entree themselves loaded down with all sorts of meats. Mac and cheese was fantastic and the cheesy potatoes remind me of my mom's, all great choices Then the fresh cut (kid was slicing more while I was waiting) fries were out of this world too. A meat connoisseurs paradise with multiple types of meat getting smoked to flavorful goodness. To date I have tried their spare ribs and brisket and mac and cheese coleslaw and potato salad. The mac and cheese is like grandma's home cooked delicious. Potato salad was good as well don't care as much for the coleslaw as it is too finely chopped vs a stringy type I prefer but it was not bad. Getting them to cater my mens golf league dinner soon so will have more feedback but I will keep coming back as it is probably the best in town for bbq. read more

I have been to Annie's twice now and both times it has been amazing bbq...as a bbq snob these guys rock the bbq out I had the ribs both times I went but have had their pulled pork and pulled chicken at catered events and have been blown away both times. I had seen many great reviews for Annie's, as well as driving by their location. We decided to give this a try, and were not disappointed. Hard to find good BBQ in Central Illinois, but not anymore. We got the ribs and they were delicious. The sauce is tangy, sweet, and slightly smoky-delish-not sure if it is their own or a branded one, so good. Ribs were moist, tender and meaty. Thought I would say, the second time we got the ribs not as tender or meaty, but still good. We also tried the pulled pork, amazing-lean and tender. We tried the Mac and Cheese, good flavor. First, the service was great everyone was nice and I got my food pretty quickly! I ate the pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, and chips and queso. I added their sweet barbecue sauce to the pulled pork and it was fire! The potato salad was bland but I'd prefer the bland to bad tasting. The beans were ok, they had a different flavor that made me want to keep trying it but it didn't steal me away. The chips and queso were also really good. May I just say that I had best brisket I've ever tasted! I got a combo plate which along with the meat came two sides. I chose baked beans and mac and cheese. The beans are fine, a little sweet for my taste that mac and cheese? Scrumptious! I would have been happy with just that! Well, no, the brisket! The combo also comes with a cornbread muffin but it's very sweet so more like a dessert item than bread for my taste. I got my hubby a brisket sandwich which he enjoyed very much, nice hearty bun that didn't fall apart. I got him a side of beans and I think he liked them better than I did. I can't wait to go back and try all of the other sides! If they have cheek available, do yourself a favor and get a slice of it. BBQ in Central IL is generic and bland. This is the only place to go in Blono for authentic bbq. The meats are wonderful, as are the sides. We recently did a very small to go order for Christmas Day and got some brisket and turkey with some bomb side dishes -twice baked potato casserole and asparagus- needless to say, we couldn't refrain from tasting the turkey today when we got home and it was juicy and so flavorful!! there's no point even calling in your food order here. they won't even start making it until after you arrive. horrible management and even worse employees. The blind leading the blind. food quality is terrible. It's usually dry. definitely don't get the brisket. then the employees try to gaslight you and tell you that you didn't just watch them. do everything wrong in real life time. way overpriced. I've just cannot believe they have as many good reviews as they do. they're definitely buying reviews. this is an honest review from an actual customer. I've been there multiple times. it's the same thing every single time. I literally watched the guy that took my money. go back to the kitchen and tell them I was there and then watch them start to make my order after I'd already arrived. they gave me a 15 minute order time. when I called in my order I showed up in 20 minutes and then had to wait another 20 minutes to get my food. So essentially they were 200% late. And that happens every time. their pit boss should be fired for making ribs so dry. they're selling you dog food.
