I visited this nail shop for the second time ever yesterday. My daughter lives in Champaign and the last time we came was in February of this year to get pedicures for her birthday. We both thought they did a great job and our pedicures lasted a long time. Unfortunately when I came by myself yesterday, I had a very different experience. I called ahead to reserve an appointment at 4pm just to be safe. The gentleman who worked there answered my call and just agreed to my appointment time and was about to hang up, I said don't you want my name? He said what's your name? I told him, and he said ok see you at 4. When I arrived at the nail shop the man who answered the phone was at the first nail desk closest to the door working on a customer. There were two other women nail techs working on customers who just looked at me as I walked in. No greeting. The man didn't look up and said "can I help you?" I responded saying I have a 4pm pedicure appointment. He said "ok pick your color" never looking at me once. I picked my color and took a seat. I did not wait long before one of the ladies came to get me. I do not have much to comment on related to her pedicure on my feet. She didn't ask me if I wanted my toenails cut which usually is common practice, but other than that, the pedicure was pretty standard. She made some errors with paint on my skin but cleaned it up and the finished product is fine. She made no conversation whatsoever, though I cannot confirm or deny whether or not that was due to her limited English because I only heard her speak another language. The disturbing part of this visit was the conversation between a white woman and one of the nail techs right next to me. That nail tech was definitely trying to keep up conversation with the white woman and at at one point the white woman mentioned that she didn't realize she had this coming Thursday off. (Due to Juneteenth) The nail tech, who is an Asian woman, asked what's the holiday, the white woman fumbled for an answer and ultimately googled to find out what the holiday was and what it represented. The Asian woman asked "are you getting paid for the holiday?" The white woman said yes. And the nail tech responded "well as long as you're getting paid who cares that's great enjoy yourself!" As a Black woman who is literally sitting in the chair right next to them as they had this conversation- and NO ONE had the self awareness to recognize how deeply offensive that exchange was!! #1 for both of these women, one of whom is of a marginalized identity, to be oblivious to WHAT Juneteenth is, is disgraceful. #2 after they both "learned" that the holiday was about the eradication of the enslavement of Black people, and then to say "who cares as long as you're getting paid" is the most disrespectful and disgusting thing a fellow woman of color could possibly say. And to say it in front of a Black woman. Her deep need for white acceptance made her oblivious to how terribly ignorant she looks. I hope she reads this review and I hope she understands she has betrayed herself and her sister in this world. I do not recommend this business to anyone, but especially not for any people of color as they clearly have no respect or desire for our patronage. There are plenty of other options and I hope this business reaps the karma it is sowing. read more

I asked for a plain colored nail with stripes and when I showed the guy the inspiration picture (below) he laughed in my face. I have been here before and they did a good job but with the disrespect, I do not plan on going back. I do not understand why they can not do stripes, and if they can't, there was no need to laugh in my face. read more

i've tried so many nail salons Anna's is by far the best that I've had here in Champaign. everything about it was great. I had an appointment got there. They took me immediately. I had a pedicure that they put the oil on my legs, the stones, the hot towel, etc. and then I had a fill for my acrylic nails. He massaged my hands and arms. I was in and out in 90 minutes and the total cost was just $70. They were friendly and spoke English pretty well. I'm so happy that I tried them. I've found my new nail salon, finally! read more

BLACK GIRL REFUSED SERVICE!!! This is my go to nail salon ever since I moved to Champaign, for about a year now. But after what I saw today, I am never coming back. Long story short, two black ladies walk in. Winnie asks, "do you have an appointment?" With the rudest tone. They respond, "no mamm" then she tells them, "we are fully booked for today." In the RUDEST tone ever. Then speaks in Vietnamese to Megan. A few minutes later, a white lady walks in, and Winnie says hi in the nicest voice. And asks, what she would like today. She says, "I would like a pedicure." Winnie says, "sure!" In the happiest voice and asks her to have a seat. Then a few minutes later again, another white lady walks in. And asks for a pedicure, and accepts her and tells her to sit. Does not even once ask these two ladies if they have appointments. They go on with their days and services like nothing happened. Making small talk with the two Caucasian ladies. I can't. I was in the middle of my gel manicure so I could not walk out. But I wish I did. But I will not be supporting this business. I am hurt and mad that this business I supported for so long has so much hatred in their hearts. And it's not just Winnie that's a bigot, The fact that she refused service for the whole salon, and no one said anything, means they are on the same page of racism. No one deserves to be treated like that. Especially for the color of their skin. And if anything, Asians are also minorities, and treating other people of color like that is so disheartening. But now that I think about it, I have not seen one black person in that salon every time I come. And they know I come a lot. Now I know why. Winnie, you have a lot to work on within yourself. Stop being a bigot. And stop spreading hate. People are people. No matter how much they tip, or whatever else. We all bleed red. I will not be supporting this business. There are other nail salons I will be supporting from now on. And don't worry, I will be telling others about this place. Because racism is not tolerated at all for me. Do better. Went to a nail shop on Green St., and they told me an hour for a regular mani pedi. Really, no thank you! So I was in search of another shop and stumbled on Anna's, boy. I am glad I did. It's a small shop tucked away on Neil st, if you are not looking for it, you are bound to miss it. I walked in and was seated right away! The technician took his time on my pedicure, which I appreciate. Unlike other ships that try to upsale you all the time, many cool amenities come with their spa pedicure, such as hot stones and hot towels! That would be like another $15 charge at any other shop. I went in during the homecoming game that wasn't gong so well to get a gel manicure and toe polish change. It should come as no surprise that it was pretty quiet because the rest of the town was zoomed in on the game. Anyway, I was seated immediately and finished everything in about an hour. My only reason for deducting a star was because the toe polish change was good but the tech used a single cotton ball to remove the existing dark color from all toes and as a result, I had some old remnants on the sides that I noticed. Also, I was offered a shoulder massage but said no because I didn't know the cost or if it was included. It'd seem like this would be on the price chart or explained. I came in yesterday for a gel full set and after leaving I decided I wanted to go back and change the shape of my thumb nail. The people here were very nice and welcoming! I got the acrylics and the guy I had did a very nice job. He also asked if I wanted anything to drink so that was a bonus. Not to mention, it was only 25 dollars! Great price for great nail job and service. If u want the gel acrylics it's 40 but tbh, these regular acrylics are amazing so I just went ahead and got them. At the end, they give u a free massage so that was nice. Highly recommend!! Update: my nails lasted around 4 weeks but that's only because I was very rough with them (I went rock climbing and fencing LOL). These folks are so nice. They are the best! We used to live in Urbana-Champaign, and would come here (right next door to Goodfella, great food, but that's another review). Today we're on our way South to get married tomorrow. We wanted to get mani-pedis at our favorite place before our nuptials. They've got screens up everywhere; they had us sign waivers, use their hand sani, and even took our temperature. The precautions and safety didn't detract one bit from the comfort and luxury of the massage, stones, water, polish, and conversation. New favorite place for nails! I've been to two others in town and I didn't leave super satisfied. I got a manicure and pedicure (special for $25 but usually $30 I think). Starts off with a foot soak. Hot stone leg massage too? Didn't know that! What a nice surprise. Much attention to detail which I appreciated. I came on a Saturday morning when it wasn't too crowded. Tried coming the night before but there were so many people! They seemed really courteous though. Next the manicure. Very great as well with a hand massage. I spent a good amount of time for both but it was very relaxing. When I was sitting for it to dry, she gave a nice massage. Wow awesome! Haha (what a way for a "treat y0 self" kind of day). I didn't want the toes to smudge but I figured they had been dry since I had been there for some time. The pedicurist added cuticle oil and plastic over my toes to make sure it wouldn't smudge while putting on my socks. This was very nice of them to do. So I went in around 608-610 and got a gel manicure. The lady who did my nails was super friendly and nice however I feel like she was really rushing with everything .... I get it that they close at 7 but would it really hurt if she stayed even slightly over a little for a better job on someone's nails rather than rush through? I can maybe understand if I came closer to 7 but I didn't come in terribly late for her to be rushing so hard. So in the end I have little kinks and dents in my nails. On top of that, she knicked the skin on my pinky that it bled a little and it stung throughout the session and after. I was gonna raise the concern at the end of all of this but the lady already cleared all her materials and was like "oh looks beautiful" as she's halfway on the other side of the room.
