Amazing hospitality! love this place. Just down on a trip and popped in, the staff couldn't have been more friendly

My wife and I recently visited this general store on beautiful Anna Maria Island near Bradenton, FL and had a very pleasant experience. The store is centrally located on historic Pine Avenue on the north side of the island near the pier, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, the store includes Dips ice cream area in the front, colorful baseball-type hats and every kind of basic item you'd ever need in such a General Store, the floors are cool old-historic style wood floors, has the "feel" of an old historic general store, has a full-service deli-grill with a full array of deli items, sandwiches, yummy bakery items, granoli-type bars/crackers, beverages, etc., friendly employees, a restroom, and a big, relaxing area for sitting and eating or drinking what you buy in the store. read more

I would not recommend the cheeseburger here. The hamburger patty is pretty scrawny. And the bun was burned on top. I even told the person taking my order that I didn't want my burger overcooked it burned. The patty was not but the bun was. It's an island convenience stores. Well stocked but you're paying for the convenience. read more

Enjoyed this store multiple times on our recent vacation to AMI. Bought ice daily, cases of water, bakery sweets, lunch, and so much more. Our lunch items and sweets were so good - fresh - yummy. The staff were always so helpful and friendly. Also love the Nemo Fish Tank! read more

We showed up for ice cream at 7:50 ish and we were turned away. It says closes at 8 pm but the lady told us they closed at 7:45 pm she has to cleanup. They literally just served a party right before us but turned us away. Sad. We ended up at another ice cream store on the island so won't be back considering they wouldn't serve us before closing. read more

Loved this little gem. We stopped in to take advantage of the fresh made deli sandwiches for lunch. It's like a small convenience store with a bakery and deli counter. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Sandwiches were ready in a jiffy. The also have some beer and wine, coffee and bottled and fountain sodas (self serve). We grabbed a container of frozen oj/vanilla ice cream too. Definitely worth a quick stop to grab picnic provisions for your beach day. read more

How would you like some exciting news? Well, I just discovered that there is a wonderful general store, bakery, and ice cream shop in the middle of Anna Maria Island. This store is a little foodservice niche, and I was impressed. They have a comfortable shaded patio area where you can enjoy your treats. We were on an epic bike ride when we stumbled into this place and needed to fuel up on some sugary treats. Their baked goods all looked amazing. We tried the peanut butter brownie and the pecan pie bar. On a 1 to 10 scale, these treats deserve a solid 10. We also split a chicken sandwich and wolfed it down. This was fresh homemade food and we loved it. They're located a couple of blocks from the shores of Anna Maria Island. It's certainly a worthwhile destination when you're visiting the area. Great spot for your necessities while you are on Anna Maria Island. This is a mini grocery store. They have all kinds of perishable and non perishable items. They also have prepared food, desserts, and deli sandwiches that can be made to order. It is definitely an asset to have this store on this side of the island. Publix is on the way other side of the island so this is nice & convenient. read more

Great little shop on the island if you need to grab something for the beach, grab a deli sandwich or forgot a toiletry item when traveling. The prices are a bit high, but to be expected for a convenient store that carries items people may have forgotten. I also enjoyed the ice cream connected to the store - a good pairing! Second time reviewing. Went there today for breakfast and my presence felt to be an inconvenience. I was first customer at 8, if they were not prepared I would have understood being told "be right with" maybe "hi, how are you?" Not go stand over at counter and wait for someone who wasn't there to acknowledge me. I didn't even want to order or give my money to support bad behavior. Refer to previous review. This is our second year here and they bend over backwards to serve you from staying late to get you a sandwich ( we arrived 10 minutes to close with 4 hungry people- late travel). I love the sandwiches at The a general Store. We actually visit frequently. the 2 star review is for the customer service there lately. The cashier is quite rude and NOT customer service friendly. The last visit I had had it with the attitude. I asked her for the manager...after we had paid our ticket of $55 for 4 sandwiches. She called out loud for the manager as she stood there with a smirk on her face. when the manager came and I was explaining the issue, the girl stood there laughing. Then she butted in our conversation. The manager said nothing. As I was leaving, sarcastically he said across the room, "we'll be nothing but smiles around here." used to live that place. This place has everything you could ask for! A sports and ice cream shop at the front, and a grocery store and deli with great food in the back! Some people make the mistake to treat this place like a convenience mart and neglect to read the chalkboard menu. Order the food! Stuff is fantastic. Been coming here over 40 years. Love fancy restaurants & expensive meals. This is my go to as I feel I can get some expensive meals but not great food on the island. Winners are... the breakfast sandwiches. Biscuits and gravy. Every single time we go we have a pleasant experience, the people are nice and the sandwiches are so good! These sandwiches are possibly the best I have ever had. The homemade cakes and cookies are some of the best I have ever eaten. Been shopping here for 10 years, now, today, all of the customers were wearing masks, yet none of the staff. When I asked the cashier to don a mask, he refused, said: 'Its not mandatory' HA! Super rude middle aged lady at check out. Asked a question about types of bread. Was responded to "you didn't read the sign". As a small business owner I would be appalled if my employs spoke rudely to a customer. I left there feeling shamed. I hope this was an isolated situation. read more

I have the best cookies in the world but the attitude of the people that work there is why I couldn't give it a thought they were rude before they moved to this location that used to be a lot nicer.
