Just tried Minnie's Beach Café in Holmes Beach after a 6-mile ruck with my uncle, and whew... we were HUNGRY ‍ This spot is small, intimate, and honestly real cute. You can tell it's a true island gem just by how busy it stays. Seating is limited, so you put your name on the list outside and wait until they come get you, but it moves as people cycle through. We ended up sitting at the bar, which turned out perfect. Our server was super sweet, funny, and had that kind of personality that just makes the whole experience better. Now the food? Exactly what I needed. My sandwich hit the spot -- no complaints at all. And the prices were really good, especially for the area. You can tell this place has been around for a reason. My uncle loved his food too. Just a note before you go: they are cash only, but there's an ATM next door with a small fee, and they also accept Zelle. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately our experience started in a way that left me in tears at the table. We waited about 40 minutes outside before being called in. While waiting, I noticed the woman greeting other guests very warmly, with things like "come on in, baby." When our table was called, she mispronounced my husband Tony's name. He simply corrected her and said, "Tony," and her response was, "whatever." As we approached the entrance, she was standing in the doorway and I finally asked, "Can we come in? It's hot out here." Her demeanor immediately changed and she silently moved aside and led us to our table. I'll be honest: once I sat down, I cried for about five minutes out of anger. I'm pregnant, I was hungry, my two young children were with us, and after waiting so long I didn't feel like I could simply pick everyone up and start over somewhere else. I also didn't want to have an argument in front of my children, so I swallowed a lot of what I wanted to say. I can't say what motivated the difference in treatment, but as a Latina woman, I noticed it and it made me uncomfortable--especially when I later watched difficult interactions happen with two other Latino tables as well. I was glad to see apologies and much warmer treatment afterward, but our initial interaction had already affected what should have been a nice family breakfast. Thankfully, a second server eventually took care of us and our experience with her was much better. We ultimately waited around another 40 minutes for our food. I'm not writing this because I expect special treatment. I expect the same basic courtesy given to every other guest. Whatever the reason for the initial behavior, responding "whatever" when a customer politely tells you his name is disrespectful and unnecessary. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because no guest should leave a breakfast table wondering why their family seemed to be treated differently. read more

We have been coming to AMI for 3 weeks every summer since 2017 (except for 2 years we went home to Greece) and every time we come we ALWAYS eat at Minnie's Beach Cafe (except Mondays so that's over 200 times with NO issues). I dream of a Minnie's Breakfast at home in Maryland during the cold winter months. The staff is amazing. You can't find nicer people to start off your day. All I have to say is come hungry because their portions are HUGE (I started getting the kids meal/ half portions because the adult servings are way too much for me) and the prices are great. It's a beach style restaurant not a 5 star Michelin restaurant. At times there is a little wait when they are busy and it's understandable because there is 1 cook and a helper and being only 2 people in the back the food always comes out fast and perfect. It's AMI and they have chairs and benches so enjoy the slow paced lifestyle of the island. They are a small family owned business who have had to close for a few days over the years at no fault of theirs due to construction, re-pavement of the shopping center, hurricane damage and a few days for health reasons for the owner/cook which they update in a timely manner on their social media pages or in person if you are a regular. I started reading some of the reviews and it broke my heart how entitled people can be and I had to write my own because I'm thinking these people are either really miserable in life or NO ONE can please them so if you read the 1 star reviews just imagine the type of people by their complaints. I recommend Minnie's Beach cafe to everyone and anyone who asks. I have friends who drive from Lakewood Ranch and Osprey every other weekend just to eat breakfast here. If you are looking for a beach atmosphere with great customer service and delicious food look no further. Stopped in here for breakfast on a weekday morning. Not knowing the area, we had a hard time finding a sit down diner style breakfast place. My family and I were seated almost right away. After that it took a while for anything else to happen. Waitress was definitely not very attentive and in the end I had to go up to the counter and pay the other waitress so we could leave and move on with our day. The place wasn't the cleanest and I'd probably rather not see the kitchen, but that's just speculation. The food however was very good and it was exactly what I was looking for in a diner style breakfast. Delicious omelettes and hashbrowns had by all. Spanish omelettes were pretty amazing actually. The food was overpriced so I had toast, only got 1 piece for 2.95 and diet coke was 2.95 and a 1.00 for refills. i have been here before, but Minnie's has gone way down hill. We went here while vacationing in Florida. It is a cute little beachy mom & pop café. Service was super quick, and the two waitresses at the time were both nice. When our food arrived (I had ordered the full French toast meal), it was amazingly drenched in homemade whipped cream that was almost ice-cream like, as well as fresh cut strawberries. The sausage and eggs were excellent. It was a bit pricey, to tell the truth. Be warned, to add strawberries on top it is an extra $5! waited an hour for our table, we had a party of 5 and they told us we couldn't move a 4 top and 2 top table that happened to be right next to each other together, so we had 3 and 2 sitting at different tables, but we were right next to each other so it didn't really make sense. Severely understaffed and we left before we were even greeted because we had already wasted so much time waiting for nothing. If your looking for a breakfast diner, this is the spot. Sign in sheet for waitlist- they move quick so they wait isn't long. Simple diner menu - nothing fancy- decent food. I wouldn't order an omelet ... it ended up being a pile of vegetables underneath a layer of scrambled eggs. The waffles looked good!! Coffee was less than average diner coffee, very watery - had 3 sips. The staff is very attentive and friendly tho. Got there as the restaurant opened at 7 AM for breakfast, first customer of the day! Easy to find in a small strip center off of a main road on the island. Staff was great, friendly and fast. My wife said her omelette was the best she had ever had! Highly recommended for breakfast. Keep in mind that it is cash only, so be prepared. Prices are ok for a beach town.
