When we arrived, we learned that they are only primary care physicians and don't do allergy testing or specialize in this. The worst part is they blamed a senior citizen with disabilities and other impairments for their miscommunication instead of rectifying their incorrect misinformation that they promoted and entered into their database. When a medical office can't even type a patient's contact info correctly, how can one trust them to maintain accurate medical records when lives may be at stake? This seems extreme, but it reflects a lack of attention to detail as evident from not even having a copy of their own marketing collateral to reference their own claims. My dad was looking to switch his primary care physician, but not after this unaccommodating experience. If the front office were trained to deal with seniors either more empathy or management of expectations, perhaps we would have given this place a try. Instead, three office managers and/or staff ganged up on us defending their perspective of telling us what they claimed that we didn't hear them say. My memory is still good enough to recall that had they stated they were a PCP, we likely wouldn't have proceeded because we would've realized this conflicted with their advertisements. The only saving grace is that the owner is responsive and tried to contact us for addressing the situation. However, this is too late when after patients leave unhappily and when the reply is again defensive by not seeming open-minded enough to consider alternative or neurodiverse perspectives from a patient-centric point of view. This is in part my our healthcare system is broken because solutions don't seem designed from the customer's perspective.

My family and I have been coming for years. Come when they first open the line especially on a Saturday is waiting by the front door to open that's how great this place is everyone wants to come. I was getting several calls from my insurance notifying me that services requesting by Gopika Are, the OBGYN, were being denied because they were excessive and not medically necessary. I didn't know what any of this meant until I finally transferred to Stony Brook and when I told them I was doing blood work and ultrasounds/ sonograms every 2-3 weeks, they were shocked. They said it's most likely a way for them to bill as much as humanly possible to my insurance- which after a few months totaled up to 17,000$. When I told Gopika Are that I was transferring care she was very visibly upset and asked what was the reason. Other doctors I've seen at Garden OBGYN also were annoyed when I told them I plan on delivering at Stony Brook and not Good Samaritan because they were not in their network. They even tried to convince me not to go to Stony Brook which I felt was a huge red flag. If you have Medicaid - you are covered to go to Stony Brook for prenatal and delivery care!! Go there instead as it is the absolute best hospital in the north east.

I called them about 20 times saying my pharmacy never received the prescription. They told me I was wrong but they would call the pharmacy. I never got it and switched to Amazon delivery. I gained weight because I went off my pills for about 2 weeks waiting. Then they called me non stop saying I owed $600. I called back and said there's no way that's true. They said they are becoming part of Northwell and many patients got calls about money they don't owe. I got a reminder for an appointment via text and told them I'm canceling. They called 4 times in a row and then sent another text saying I need to fill out pre appointment paperwork. What?? I'm so sad. I trusted them and wanted to stay there. Idk if it is because Northwell is taking over? I used to have to call to get them to put my prescription through but usually that worked. It's horrible now. I'm never going back.

Johnson in my first visit and what a total bust.. she didn't seem to want to be bothered with anything I had to say or questions I had regarding my daughter. So then I started to see Dr.Svitek. And wow what a world of a difference. His bedside manner is off the charts. He's compassionate and caring and really takes his time to listen to your questions and concerns and give you honest answers. My son was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy after a hospital stay at cohens and dr.svitek called the following day to check up on him to see how he was doing. Love love love this dr. The negative to their office is the billing manager. God forbid insurance doesn't pay something she makes it the patients responsibility to "fight back and forth with the insurance to get the bill paid." Like I don't have better things to be doing with my day. That is the medical billers job not the patients job, I even went as far as to calling the insurance company to see what I could do and they said the provider needed to call. I was told flat out that they wouldn't be doing that. I've never came across an office where I was held responsible to do the medical billers job. Last I checked I'm not on their payroll. So because of this whole ordeal I've gotten a bad taste in my mouth. And it sucks because I love the dr. That my daughter and son go to but the billing staff is lacking. Just a warning to anyone looking to go here I suggest you stay on top of your stuff with them since the billing staff isn't.
