What I remember is the poor customer service where misleading fliers caused my dad to waste his time rescheduling an appointment by phone that wasn't as advertised. Apparently, same day availability applies only for existing patients when this is not stated on the fliers. When we arrived, we learned that they are only primary care physicians and don't do allergy testing or specialize in this. The worst part is they blamed a senior citizen with disabilities and other impairments for their miscommunication instead of rectifying their incorrect misinformation that they promoted and entered into their database. When a medical office can't even type a patient's contact info correctly, how can one trust them to maintain accurate medical records when lives may be at stake? This seems extreme, but it reflects a lack of attention to detail as evident from not even having a copy of their own marketing collateral to reference their own claims. My dad was looking to switch his primary care physician, but not after this unaccommodating experience. If the front office were trained to deal with seniors either more empathy or management of expectations, perhaps we would have given this place a try. Instead, three office managers and/or staff ganged up on us defending their perspective of telling us what they claimed that we didn't hear them say. My memory is still good enough to recall that had they stated they were a PCP, we likely wouldn't have proceeded because we would've realized this conflicted with their advertisements. The only saving grace is that the owner is responsive and tried to contact us for addressing the situation. However, this is too late when after patients leave unhappily and when the reply is again defensive by not seeming open-minded enough to consider alternative or neurodiverse perspectives from a patient-centric point of view. This is in part my our healthcare system is broken because solutions don't seem designed from the customer's perspective. read more

Way better doctors out there. do waste time. went here for the first time for a physical because the hours fit my schedule. the thought of changing doctors do to the hours was a bad idea. The only things he did was ekg. hearing test blood work. weight urine test. and he check my breathing and heart with the Stethoscope that's it out the door. . all cloths remained on. even shoes. the past years and present they advertised in the mail. they must be desperate to get patients. i haven't seen any doctors do this. should of known better. now i have to wait another year for a proper physical. all the staff was great. read more

These doctors are old school and/or conservative types, and clearly don't have a solid understanding of modern medicine practices, especially for young people in the year 2024. I asked for PreP and not only were they uncomfortable prescribing it, I'm not sure they'd ever heard of it. Further, a PA called me to tell me I came back positive on a test result, and then called me later that day to tell me she had read the test wrong. Truly unbelievable. Dr. Stephen Sisselman is also a Board Certified Lipidologist. This means that he has additional specialized training in high-risk disorders such as the Metabolic Syndrome, Obesity, Dyslipidemia and Diabetes. I went to Dr. Stephen Sisselman specifically for weight issues and for a physical examination. Basically he told me to eat low carb. Since it was a physical, there was no co-pay until I got a bill in the mail. He charged me $30 for looking into my ear (I was never ever billed for that in the past; that was always included in the physical exam). Not going back! read more

The worst doctor I've ever seen. He's overtly obnoxious and could care less about you. He's blatantly self-serving and money hungry. You're in the wrong field. He's a typical snake who charges you for tests and then tries to hush you up in a threatening way. Maybe you should be transparent in the office about your hidden, mystery fees! Normally I don't write post on a dr. I was in search for a new primary physician, after 3 visits, each worse than the first. The assistant that showed me the exam room couldn't be more unprofessional. Slamming the door as she left the room like a spoiled child, verbally up noxious. Then the medical dr came in. Spent all of 2.5 minutes. Also with a god complex. Three visits more than I should of made. The absolute worse group of non professionals I have ever met. I have been to enough drs to know never ever to recommend this practice. It took everything in me not to say what was on my mind. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Sisselman's for years after following him when he branched out on his own from EM family practice. He is always on time, professional and thorough. The office staff in both Commack and Massapequa are helpful and always get patients in on short notice. This is a great practice. I don't feel like a number and that's rare in medicine now. read more

None of the doctors here are worth wasting your time and money on. They rush you out of the office and couldn't care less about actually treating whatever issue you have. I've been a patient here on and off for years just because of convenience in location. I was on vacation visiting family in the Commack area and came down with a sinus infection. I needed to see a doctor to get some antibiotics, and Sisselman Medical Group was nearby. They were very accommodating, gave me an appointment the same day, and had me in and out in less than 30 mins. While I don't live in the area, I can highly recommend them for anyone that does! read more

You rarely get to see an actual doctor here. Mainly PA's run the practice. Dr. Stephen Sisselman is arrogant and not a very compassionate or caring doctor. He seemed bothered that I asked him to help me figure out what had been causing the 6 months of tightness in my chest and heart palpitations. He literally told me that all of the specialists that I had seen couldn't diagnose me because they just didn't want to tell me that the only real problem I had was that I was overweight. He said this with such disgust and all in front of my 11 year old son who was with me at the appointment. 1 week later a very good rheumatologist diagnosed me with Tietze Syndrome/Costochondritis which I'm now being treated for. I've seen better and more compassionate doctors at the local urgent care than at this practice. read more

I have NEVER experienced such un-professionalism from a Doctor as I did today with Jill Sisselman. I came in for a new patient appointment, as my insurance changed and I needed to find a new primary care physician. This was an appointment that I ended up having to reschedule because I came down with Covid and was in quarantine for the first appointment I had made. When I called to reschedule, I alerted the staff person I spoke with, it was because I tested positive. Then, I called a second time to see if I could get a closer appointment because I was having some lingering problems from Covid. So they gave me an appointment one week earlier. Today, when I entered the office for my appointment, I told both women at the front desk I was recovering from Covid and let them know the date I tested positive. One of them printed out a form, wrote my positive Covid test date on it and had me sign it. This piece of paper made its way with me into my examination room. So it's fair to say everyone and their mother were made aware of my Covid diagnosis. Jill Sisselman came in and began to examine me. She had to move the piece of paper (that had my Covid positive test date written on it) off the computer keyboard to access the computer. After several minutes I mentioned the Covid diagnosis (because she didn't) and she IMMEDIATELY stopped examining me and looked at me with disgust and said "that's something you should have told us." My response was that I did - about 5 different times, including the piece of paper I signed which she had to touch that had it clearly written on it. She no longer continued to examine me, went to the computer, typed a few things and told me "you can get referrals at the front desk" and left. A doctor, literally stopped my appointment because she neglected to read up on the patient, after very rudely suggesting I didn't do my part. I was there because I needed medical attention. What I received couldn't have been further from that. She was rude, unhelpful, and most importantly did not attend to a single medical need or concern that I had. I needed referrals for several different doctors (neurologist, pulmonologist, cardiologist, gastro), when I got to the front desk I was told all she gave me was a neurologist referral. She was the one who told me to follow up with everyone, and then didn't even have the professionalism to write the referrals I needed. The front desk was useless at this point as well giving, me an attitude telling me when I make the appointments to call them back. A complete and utter failure of what a doctor should be! I left there wasting two hours of my time, no medical attention and being chastised that I should have told them something, which I couldn't have been more clear about. You should be completely ashamed of yourself for how you acted during this visit. In no way did you represent what a doctor should be. And most importantly, in no way did you attend to my medical needs. You were more concerned about yourself than a new patient. Shame on you! I am totally disgusted at how I was treated and you'd serve this community best by taking several lessons in professionalism and bedside manner. I'd also suggest you train yourself and your staff better on communicating with each other about Covid positive patients, if treating them is above your experience. Your office was more than aware, you chose not to do the basic reading to make yourself aware. read more

I was given an appointment for 11:30 for a simple renewal of prescription. I came on time and waited for half an hour in the room with no indication of when things will happen. I went to a nurse to ask when the doctor can sees me since I had to get back to my little kids. Doctor Stephen Sisselman finally came in; he was rude, slammed doors and said I was the one late and I'm complaining. That was a lie. Love this office! The staff is always friendly. The office is clean and tidy. The PAs are wonderful. I have been going here for 10+ years. I even moved out East and still continue to drive nearly an hour back to Commack to get my physicals and for other visits. Everyone at Dr Sisselman's is absolutely the best. The PA, Elizabeth cannot be beat. same goes for Dr. Jill Sisselman. (I have not had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Stephen Sisselman). Everyone in the office from reception to the nurses to the PA and doctors are the nicest, most caring people you could ask for. Both PA Elizabeth and Dr Jill Sisselman take the time to listen and they also take the time to explain anything and everything. I typically find doctors to be, at best, bearable and, at worst, an unpleasant experience. The Sisselman group is nothing like that. They are unique. I highly recommend them! read more

This place is a scam with incompetent, rude people who try to commit fraud by saying they gave tests they didn't actually give. DO NOT GO HERE FOR HEALTHCARE. I only found them because they are a listed provider for my health insurance and I wanted an annual physical. First (and last)time at this place and I've regretted it since. Not only did they mess up drawing my blood so I had to go in the following week for another blood draw, they also submitted the blood work claim incorrectly and so I got billed for the copay (which my insurance covers for annual physicals). On top of that, they told me originally that I had a Vitamin D deficiency. But then they told me it was a mistake and that I don't have one. This was in August. It is now the end of October and this is still an issue because the people at this office don't know how to do their jobs. I've had to call them, my insurance company, and the lab they sent my blood to multiple times. Each time I was told it would get taken care of only for me to get a call or a bill showing it wasn't actually. This most recent time, I dealt with a Jenn in the office's lab and she was awful. My insurance had called to tell me the issue still wasn't resolved and so together the insurance lady and I called and had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this Jenn. Jenn tells us at some point, "I don't have time to deal with this, I don't sit at a desk working the phone because I'm not supposed to deal with claims. I can't do this right now." So I asked, "okay, can you get someone who can help me? Because this has been going on since August and I don't need this lab bill to go to collections." Side note, I have not paid the bill because my insurance told me many, many times to not pay it because it's covered. This office just had to do their job correctly. Finally Jenn did something and called the lab because according to her, it was their fault. She comes back on the phone and says, "you have to pay a fee because your insurance refuses to pay." So glad I thought to have the insurance lady on the line with us because she then corrects Jenn and says, "no, that's not true at all. There's no denials on our end. Everything is covered for this, we just need the claim to be resubmitted correctly." It seriously has been a true 4 month going on 5 months nightmare dealing with this office and all for an annual physical. I'm a healthy 24 year old woman, this should've been quick and easy. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. If you absolutely have to, check your bill after because they put in that they gave me a urine test and they did not give me one. When I pointed that out to the secretary, she said "oh, but you didn't have to pay for that, your insurance did, so it's okay." And I said "that's not the point, you can't say you gave me a test and charge my insurance but not actually give me the test. That's fraud." When I said that, the lady got all flustered and said "oh okay, well I'll just take it off the bill and resubmit it to your insurance." Seriously, CHECK YOUR PAPERWORK AFTER ANY VISIT, these people tried to scam me and my insurance company. Please if you absolutely have to go here, just make sure you look at the work they say they did very carefully. But don't go here, it's truly not worth it. This is my first time leaving a bad review and I'm only doing it to save others from this awful place. This isn't some false review trying to tarnish a business or me trying to complain to get something. I have documented proof from all paperwork (especially the original paperwork with the supposed urine test they gave and then the corrected one because I had the sense to read through everything), records of the constant calls, and notes from my insurance and even the doctor's office of the numerous times I had to call, plus the insurance lady as witness to the incompetency. Only reason it's finally resolved was because the insurance lady called the lab herself and instructed them on the proper way to do it. I have been going to Dr. Sisselman for what feels like forever. I want to say over a decade. I have had to see other members of the practice due to his busy schedule and they are all amazing as well, but Dr. Sisselman is always my first request! He NEVER makes me feel rushed or like I'm asking a stupid question. He thoroughly checks my history to make sure he's on top of my situation if he wasn't the last to see me... just top notch. Prescribes me antibiotics as necessary but doesn't laugh in my face and is completely supportive of my preferred holistic approach to certain things which makes me so happy! I trust him with... literally... my life. Some of the nurses know me by name and I feel like when I walk in it's like seeing old friends and catching up.
