There is a verse and well stocked menu with plenty of drink options. Their wine is some of the best I've had in the area and is an example of how good a Pinot Noir from Oregon can be. It was a lovely day at the vineyard. Staff were friendly, helpful & efficient. Seated outside, I could hear (and feel & smell) the wood-fired stove behind me, and look out into the vines. Have been here twice in the last three weeks. It has been very enjoyable both times. It's a little unfair, since with weather was great both times and the atmosphere is great. View of a portion of the vineyard with a small oak forest on the hillside. We ate on their dining deck and it was a bit breezy but not bad. The pizza is better than the hummus plate, but at $32 for a medium it is expensive. My biggest complaint was that they were not busy but the pizza still took more than an hour. The wine is mediocre at best, the 2nd time we went I stuck with beer. If you like chocolate, the chocolate a more sundae will satisfy your sweet tooth. The pros definitely outweigh the cons here, but temper your expectations. Fun place to go on a Sunday afternoon. read more

It appears Ankeny is experiencing growing pains. I know "pickup weekend" will be busy, but we waited for two hours for a pizza that never arrived. Server said, "Sorry, I put the order in twice. Do you still want it?" We were tired of waiting and definitely didn't want to wait another hour, so we declined. This was our third time in a row of subpar service (the others weren't quite poor enough to warrant reviews, and everyone can have a bad day) but three strikes and ... we're taking a break from our membership. Maybe they'll grow into the next tier of winery and fix the service problems. Time will tell. The wine and food is still very good, thus the three stars. It's just gotten inconvenient to go there quarterly and be disappointed with the service. read more

I love this place! What a great vibe. Ankeny is tucked back behind a great twisty country road drive, so be sure to have your DD planned out when you go. We live in Albany and this is just a quick drive north from our place. The staff here are beyond great! So helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. And the wine of course . We love our dark red wind so always lean towards those when we visit, but Ankeny can actually win me over with some of their whites too. There is a style for everyone to try, it's not all Pinots! From sweet whites to dark reds and even dessert wines, there is a perfect wine for everyone here. The pizzas are amazing. I personally drank no wine but they did have a nice lager beer. I will however mention Bunker Hill Road, a memorably steep, unpaved and unlit stretch of road you will need to traverse to get in and out of this place. read more

We love this little gem nestled in the hills just southeast of Independence. Their wine never disappoints! The Pinot Noir has become one of my favorites. The wood fired pizzas are to die for! They have a special every week using ingredients from local farmers so you know everything is fresh! They are following the COVID-19 rules & regulations. We were treated incredibly rudely last night by a female staff member who stood by our table for about 5 minutes harassing us, insisting that a cat who used to come visit our home wasn't the same cat that showed up at their winery a couple months back. Desi moved away from our neighborhood also a couple months back. Another lady actually told me the name of the cat, Desi...SAME CAT. I'm not sure why this rude lady cared so much but I have video of her arguing with me about the identity of the cat. She just kept going on and on. It was absolutely absurd. At one point she told me that if I got bit in the face, I'd deserve it. She insisted that their cat didn't like to be held (I held her for 5 minutes straight while this lady was harassing us). I offered to show this rude lady photos on my phone but she didn't want to see them. Here they are. It's terribly unprofessional to harass your guests. Ankeny would be better off without this abrasive, rude person on staff. read more

Heard from a friend that live music would be out here and so I thought I would give it a go! Beautiful little place. Very lively. The food came out quickly, it was fresh and delicious! (I had a chicken Caesar salad). The waitress suggested the Melange Blanc to pair. It was a lovely white wine on the sweeter side and paired well with not only the food but the lovely summer evening. People were extremely friendly. The biggest recommendation I can make is call ahead for reservations if you want to catch the music. And make them earlier so you can enjoy the music for longer. Sad to say this place is not worth the trip out. We had went to visit a winery about 5 minutes away and came here for a visit. We came in to a freezing cold place (they did not turn on the heat). The young gentleman told us we "scared the sh*t out of him" when he came out from the back, even though the entrance door is pretty loud. He was pretty unfriendly and seemed unwilling to "serve" us and we left shortly thereafter. This place is small, a bit out-dated, and old-looking. They do have food options, but nothing special, and they aren't big "red" growers, so don't expect (good) red wines if you are a red drinker. read more

Loved loved this little winery! The setting is beautiful and the atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping to find in the Pacific Northwest. Vines are planted on the hills and we were encouraged to walk around the grounds, which very peaceful. I picked a few grapes off the vine to try as that's always fun. There is a cemetery at the top of the hill (not sure if it's part of the grounds), and a goat (which is a part of the grounds). There was also an emu that we only got a glance of. We also took the oyster crackers from the wine tasting and fed the chickens. They were so into it! The service was very friendly, personal, and knowledgeable. I would have loved to sit around outside all day here. The wine was okay. I will be recommending this place over some of the larger ones to everyone I know who is going to be in the area! read more

The servers were not wearing proper face masks. They cared more about looking cute and fashionable with a see through decorative scarf instead of keeping their customers safe. I felt very uncomfortable, there was only one server I saw out of 6 that were wearing an appropriate face mask BUT she kept touching it and moving it around while she was talking to us. I had a fabulous time! It was very picturesque and quaint. They raise their own chickens and grow many vegetables in their garden. But of course, we are all there for the wine! I loved the creamy Pinot Noir and bought 2 bottles of the Foch which was rich in figs and mocha. Its nice that you can take your wine and wander the grounds. We went up to the Pioneer Cemetery and marveled over the age of some of the stones. We called to the goats but they had no interest in getting pets. :) Definitely check this place out and I hear they have a groupon you can get. read more
