Story: The internet retailer who originally set it up was never clear with me and kept texting me to buy mobile services, saying my bill would increase if I didn't. My bill did increase later, but it turned out to be for a completely different reason. I called customer service multiple times but never got a clear answer, and they seemed annoyed because I couldn't explain the issue myself. Anyway, I really appreciate your help, even though it wasn't your service and you didn't get any benefit from helping me. You were patient, answered every question, and even handled calls from other customers at the same time. I hope there are more Spectrum retailers and staffs like Jeff. Highly recommend. Thank you again.

I bet you need to spend more than $130 just to hire the DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY to go after me! Then they reported to all my credit report agencies to DAMAGE my perfect score by 123 FREAKINGLY POINTS as if I own them $10,000, car payments, or some home mortgage!! What a JOKE! I was just at this point, when our dryer decided to up and stop working. NOOOOO. Even worse? We were right in the middle of moving to a new place. What to do, what to do? Only one answer in a time like this: Yelp. Alas, turns out yelpers in LB haven't had much need for dryer repair or cheap dryers, so I turned to the default answer number two: Craiglist. Buying appliances on Craigslist is risky business, but when I came across someone who looked like they ran a relatively legitimate business, i gave them a call and chatted with the most charmingly grumpy old man ever: James. Ah, James. He'll tell you what's what, and he won't beat around the bush. And he'll tell you just what he thinks of the city of Long Beach, and how he still busts his balls working after 30 years in business. And, finally, he'll tell you if your dryer is worth repairing. My wasn't, but I was in luck - he has a warehouse chock FULL of dryers he repaired himself. Now, this may sound shady, but I'm pretty sure it's fully legit. Mostly relatively late model dryers for $150-$200(he's also got refrigerators and some washers - not sure 'bout the price on those). Other folks on CL sell dryers for the same price, but I tell you what, they don't come with the one year James warranty, no siree. The dryer was delivered and installed the same day, and works like a charm all for just about $200. ...next time I'm wearing *real clothes* and not a dingy old KROQ shirt, I've got grumpy ol' James to thank.

Although I direly needed the part this was the last straw and I walked out. American Appliance is a complete joke. Don't waste your time or money dealing with him.

We took 8 bags to Sunset Recycling today, and those 8 bags filled 6 of their recycling baskets. The cashier handed me a $1, a $5, and 4 bills I thought were $20s. $86 was about what I was expecting. When I got home, I realized they were actually only $10 bills. We went back to the center and asked to see our receipt. It said we had 27 pounds worth of aluminum. I questioned if that seemed right for 6 baskets full. The guy claimed it was. That would be less than 5 pounds per basket. I watched him weigh the next customers baskets, and each was 8-10 pounds. So, what do we think happened? Because the parking next to the center was full, we parked behind the Costco instead. We filled 6 of their recycling baskets with cans, plus a basket with a little bit of plastic and one with an insignificant amount of glass - that's 8 baskets total. We dragged over 4 of the baskets, then went back and grabbed the other 4. We think they took in a few of the first set of baskets we dragged over without weighing them first, then weighed the second set of baskets while we stood there. There is no way for us to prove that is what happened, but it seems like the logical conclusion. How can I be so sure 27 pounds is way too light? We had another 8 bags of cans to recycle. Immediately after, we took them to a competitor down the street. Those 8 bags of cans weighed in at just under 50 pounds for $85. So, yeah, we are 100% sure they ripped us off.
