I have enjoyed the services of this dry cleaner during my time in Ithaca. They have been reliable and professional. I've had everything from suits to shirts to dresses to bedspreads cleaned. They take good care of the clothes I have left for them to clean. While a bit at the higher price point I believe you get what you pay for... plus after COVID I'm glad that they are still operating. So many businesses who provide this type of services have closed. Thank you for helping me with dry cleaning and basic repair/mending to my clothes when needed. Do not take anything of important to this business. They ruined my wedding dress after saying they could get the mud stains out - instead used a harsh chemical stripper on the fabric which left an even bigger stain. When I picked it up, they made no mentioned of what they had done and pretended everything was fine. Do not trust them if you care about your clothes. They have no professional competence to deal with delicate fabrics, and worst of all are dishonest. Ask the folks here to do anything more complicated than wash and fold services, and you would think you had asked them to recreate the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel for you. Terrible work quality and even worse attitudes behind the cashier's counter. We hit our limit recently when coming to drop off a small load for dry cleaning; the person behind the counter could not give us enough inoculation regarding how awful her day was and how badly she wanted to go home and not deal with us. This was after we had to listen to this person berate the poor woman in front of us in line who was inquiring about bridal/veil services, which are advertised as a service they provide. Do not feel obligated to take your valuables here simply because Angelo is apparently the only game in town--that does not entitle them to your business. Don't trust them with anything. They are so bad at their job that I can't believe they are actually a dry clean store. I sent them three items and they messed each one of them up. They were unable to get rid of the stain, and all my clothes came back in a much rougher texture compared to the condition I sent them in. I wish I read the review before I took my clothes to them. Local businesses that banner eco-friendliness has too few competitors. If there was another dry cleaner that will do a good, green job, I will definitely take my clothes there. But given what happened, no matter how green, I will not go there again. I don't recommend this place unless you want your suit or jacket totally ruined. They completely destroyed my jacket but putting them in the machine without taping the buttons. The buttons are all destroyed. I can't wear this suit any more. When I complained, I get this parrot talk by the store clerk: "we don't guarantee ... we don't guarantee ... we don't guarantee ... (buttons or whatever else they messed up)" .. Heed the blurb on the back of their receipt. Prior to coming to pick it up, they called me about this situation leaving in my voice mail a barely audible message. I called back, and the woman I spoke with didn't know what was going on. So I just showed up. Terrible business. I had to insist to get half the money for the cleaning back - like, $7 I think. I only got it after I persisted - the clerk gave it to me quite begrudgingly, still parroting the nonsense . But the cost of my suit that I can't wear any longer? $100? Just fantastic! I have had acceptable dry cleaning results from Angelos. I haven't provided anything that was too challenging and when I pick my clothes up they seem fine. Angelos has difficult operating hours, they are only open until 6pm on weekdays and are open for a total of four hours on the weekend. I generally run my errands at the end of my day or during the weekend and this has led to multiple instances of hopefully pulling into their parking lot only to realize that, once again, they are closed. I realize that they advertise as a green dry cleaners and that gives them some leeway in their pricing , but I just paid $23 for one woman's blazer, a pair of men's pants and three men's dress shirts. I suppose this comes in handy when one is trying to pay with a credit card because even though they have a minimum charge amount their pricing practically ensures that you will be paying more than that. Their hours and pricing were direct factors in the low star rating. I really can't speak about any staff interactions, they have all been fine and not at all noteworthy. read more

For a while I had no problems with them - I think because I dealt with some of their younger employees - and I went there because they claimed to be "green" (without every specifying what made them "greener" than other dry cleaners - ultimately, I'm not sure if and why they are.). But my last experience with them - with two older people, who I think are the owners - was horrendous. They claimed that I had asked for something that I had not, they had not done it anyway, and still they wanted to charge me for it. Angelo's does exceptional work. Clean. No chemical odor. They have handled my special items with care. In the 20 years that we have used the service, only one item was lost. Nothing has ever been damaged. That is a GREAT RECORD! Their hours are perfect, and most of the front counter staff are courteous. There is one woman there, however, that is really damaging the business for them. If I drive up and see her at the counter, I don't go in and drive away. Seems to have some social or personality issues that make it extremely difficult for her to communicate, and she expresses anger when it's not necessary. Recently went to Angelos dry cleaners and from the very first moment I felt like I'd made the right choice. I went in to have a zipper replaced on my winter coat. I'd already been to a few other places in Ithaca and the quotes were so high I'd almost given up. Angelos quoted me less than half the amount the others had so I agreed. Had enough left over to have it cleaned and take my nephew to five guys and still it was cheaper than other quotes. They are also super friendly. Long live Angelos!!!! read more

I have been coming here as long as i can remember Approximately 20 years. The guys who work there a very cordial and professional. The 2 women who work there ...not so much. As previous reviewers stated they are rude, condescending and bad for business especially that witch tabetha The owner Jim Kellogg who sells real estate should observe them more and should try to teach them some sales skills.Perhaps they are relatives because they act like they own joint. Like I said i have doing business with for them for years and I have spent over $10,000.00 With them. I had a credit account with them and would pay when I was in the store. I do not understand what happened. I called, I stopped back in, I am still not satisfied. I brought a series of shirts in about a month ago. The dress shirts had no special stains on them before (other than collar area). This is the first time the shirts have been to Angelos. Before they went to another local place that has since retired. The shirts needed to be laundered and pressed. One of the shirts came back with new stains that were determined unremovable. Although I understand sometimes stains can "appear" the stain pattern and areas would have meant quite an explosion of a sugary beverage (as it is typically sugar from a soda) that appears and carmelizes during the heating process. There were spots as well below the belt line - I typically do not drink soda - nor would have gotten it inside my pants. Also one would expect that the sugary parts would come out during the LAUNDERING process. When I called to see how to rectify this issue, the agent at Angelos said to come on down and they would fix it. When I got there, it was a different story. The man looked at the stain and asked how long it had been in my closet- specifically he said "this has been in your closet a long time, hasn't it?" I said if a month was a long time... Then yes. (A month is not a long time and the shirt is $180 shirt less than two years old from Banana Republic) He then proceeded to explain that it was probably then oxidized oil. (however it is missing the hatch cross pattern associated with oxidized oil stains). Basically he said he did not know what kind of stain it was and that they could not do anything about it. Although I explained the shirt just needed a launder and press and that there were no stains previously, he denied any possibility that they could have caused the problem or an employee could have made a mistake. I know occasionally the devices used to press clothes get dirty and can pass contaminants onto shirts during the pressing process. He claimed that multiple shirts might also get dirty and that they would have noticed, and I concur that probably happened. He was ZERO help. By his age, I'd guess he was the owner or a manager. I do not understand. I want to give them money to clean my shirt. They are supposed to be a cleaners, not a dirtiers. Stains should not magically appear after "cleaning"... If they do, they should be removed. Incidentally, I am planning to launder the shirt myself and remove the stains. I will update this with photos of the job before and after - once I have determined the nature of the stain - of course Angekos claims it was oxidized oil, but already ruled that out with a little online research. Looks like grease. Update 5/4/16 - I used an over the counter stain remover and laundered the shirt myself. No problem, stain came right out! Likely they did not actually WASH my shirt and instead just tried to press it. In any case, no effort to try to fix the problem, which either they created or did not wash, like that is their sole business, to wash clothes, or something. Absolutely Terrible. read more

Tl;dr: Do NOT go here! You will get better service at Wegmans, Wyllie, or literally anywhere else in the area. If you have nice clothes which you no longer care about please consider donating them instead of giving them to Angelo's. Not only do they consistently offer poor quality services but they are also incredibly rude and expensive. In my limited experience with them they have broken several shirt buttons, completely forgotten to clean a few pairs of pants, and laundered two garments given to them for dry cleaning.' Although, to their small credit they did do me the courtesy of cleaning 2 (out of 3) pairs of pants which had been forgotten after I brought it to their attention. Unfortunately when you wash a dry clean only garment and it shrinks, there is very little that can be done to remedy the situation. In the interest of fairness, I must admit that I should shoulder some of the responsibility for these mistakes; after all, it was my fault for continuing to use a place which is okay with providing such a low-quality service. However, after after this last incident I will certainly not be returning. After finding out that I would need a suit I, which was just dropped off, I called to ask if they could pull the garment (not clean it) and just let me take it back. This seemed like a reasonable request and I let the woman answering the phone know that if this was not possible I would get the suit the following week. She told me that she did not believe they could get the item but that she would call me back. Since I did not speak to the woman again, I made the assumption that they could not give me back the suit. However, when I went to pickup the suit, they charged me a rush fee. I explained to them that I did not request for it to be rush clean and I had no idea they cleaned it early. The man at the counter agreed that since I was picking up the suit a week later, this was a reasonable assumption. He told me that he would refund the fee and I paid. After looking at the receipt I saw that he did not refund the charge and asked him if he could correct the difference. He told me that he actually can't refund it and let me speak to a different employee. I hope he wasn't lying to get me to leave without an argument but I am not sure why else he would have told me one thing and done another. After not getting anywhere with the other employee, she suggested I speak to the owner. I happily agreed and introduced myself to the owner. Trying to be cordial I explained what I called a "simple misunderstanding." He then took a surprisingly aggressive tone and argued that they had done me a huge favor and I should be thankful for them allowing me to use their service. At this point I retorted that it was not a huge favor but in fact a standard service, one which I had be charged for, and more importantly never requested! I then explaining that it would make no sense for me to request a rush service, and then wait a week to pick up the suit. He said he couldn't guess my intentions but since they completed the service, it was irrelevant if I requested it be done. (This would be the same as going into a restaurant, having the waiter bring you the wrong order, and then charge you for it because the chief cooked it). After a few more minute of arguing, the owner pulled out his wallet and angrily refunded me the fee and told me I should no longer use their service. In this, I could not agree more. read more

But when I received my purse back, which I had brought in only for the main zipper to be replaced, they had gone well beyond my expectations. Replaced the main zipper, an interior zipper and repaired a hole in the lining I hadn't even noticed was there. All for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. read more

I've been taking my bright white uniform dress shirts to them for two years now, and I'm constantly being complimented by my peers for how well they're taken care of. Never came back with a stain, come back looking brand new, and always done correctly, on time, and reasonably priced. Once in a great while a button comes off, but that's normal wear and tear. The only thing weird is their $25 credit card minimum, but since this is 2016, they usually don't fuss over that pointless policy too much. I haven't used them for anything other than my dress shirts, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so. read more

After going to Angelo's for 14 years, I moved away. Twenty years ago Angelo's were using environmentally friendly cleaning. Never did my clothes smell like chemicals like other dry cleaners. They never lost clothes or damaged them like other cleaners I had tried. Always friendly with good service. Recently I returned for a visit to Ithaca and luckily arrived at Angelo's on a Thursday afternoon. We are returning home Monday. Due to Covid with so many people working from home, and not needing to dry clean office clothes- suits, shirts and ties, business has diminished and they are only working 2 days a week. At first they said they couldn't have my husband's shirts before Thursday but the man (Angelo?) went back and checked and they were willing to do a rush job and have the shirts back that day within hours. We lucked out. He even remembered me from 10 years ago. As always, the laundered shirts were perfect. I don't know if they are the cheapest in town, but they offer great service and Angelo is a small business well worth supporting. When I told the friend we are visiting about my experience at Angelo's, he said his dry cleaner in Lansing is taking over a week to return his shirts. He needs to switch to Angelo's. read more

After over 25 years as a customer of Angelo Dry Cleaners, I've had enough. When I recently went to pick up my shirts, I was snottily informed that I was being charged a "penalty" fee of $2.00 for failure to unbutton my collar buttons, something I have never done in all these years. This represents an arbitrary 12.5% price hike for my shirts, something that would never fly in my business, and a policy which doesn't appear on Angelo's web site. I understand the meaning of the term "being taken to the cleaners" and I can afford to pay an extra $2.00 fine if I think it is justified. But I will not tolerate being scolded by the woman at the counter as though I am a naughty child. As a matter of principle, Angelo can keep my few old shirts. I'll buy some new ones and will find a new dry cleaner. read more

Best dry cleaner in town. I got a serious blood stain on a very expensive pair of pants. First, I dropped it off at the dry cleaner @college agencies, which it's Cornell laundry. When I picked it up, the stain wasn't removed at all. So I requested a redo. But the second time they still didn't remove the stain at all. And it looked like it didn't get any better. By then, two weeks had passed... As everyone knows, the longer it waits, the harder it gets to remove blood stain. So I was very worried. I came to Angelo dry cleaner and explained my concern. They were SUPER nice and told me they would try their best to remove the stain. And they did REMOVE the stain!!! Like MAGIC. And it isn't pricy at all like it's mentioned in the other reviews. I don't trust cornell laundry anymore. I would go straight to Angelo's next time! read more

I had a good experience with Angelo Dry Cleaners. We were in town for just a few days and my summer sweaters were in bad need of cleaning. One sweater had a stain. When I went by the cleaners I asked when my items would be ready for pick-up and the day didn't work for me. The staff person told me of what they could do given he timeframe I had available. I appreciated the honesty on his part and agreed. My sweaters turned out very nice! I found he staff to be very friendly and helpful. read more

Dry cleaning was not ready in two out of the three weeks that my friends and I (grad students) came to pick it up prior to heading out of town for job interviews. Very prompt, never reneging on their stated pickup time, and Frank at the counter is extremely amiable and has personally waived rush charges and expedited cleanings without my asking. My down jacket (with newly replaced zipper) was returned to me without the zipper pull, so I am unable to close my winter jacket. When I called about it, the woman told me that they "cannot guarantee that zippers and buttons will survive the process". Really??? This is a process that is SUPPOSED to be more gentle than tossing the jacket with sneakers in a Laundromat dryer. She told me that their seamstress could repair it AT MY COST! This is a horrible way to do business! Also learned that the "non-toxic" cleaner they use is petroleum based! Stay away from this place if you value your clothes!!! I would not recommend this dry cleaner and laundry. There is too much risk that your clothing will not be cleaned properly or may be ruined. I went to Angelo's several times to dry clean, wash and press dress shirts and regular stuff. They are ok with stuff that doesn't need care. They did a half job pressing my shirts and the laundry wasn't good either. I'm able to do the job much better and I'm not even that good at it. Bottom line, I no longer expect consistency from this business, so why go there when there are other options? Also, I brought my clothing with good quality hangers and they returned the clothing with cheap wire hangers. Poor quality business in my view. Pricing is kind of up there too. read more

They would not tell her actual costs for the two coats. When she picked the coats up, same two women. I went to Angelo Dry Cleaners for the first time because the dry cleaners I usually use was closed on the day I needed to drop off my dry cleaning. After my experience, I will never visit again. I went to pick up my clothes on the day they were supposed to be ready to delivery, but when I arrived they had lost my garments, one of which was a brand new black silk blouse I needed for an event the same evening. They made me wait for 20 minutes while they helped other customers, even though I wish in a rush because I had to prepare for an event that evening (which I explained). I told them I'd come back to pick up my garment. After being stressed about what I was going to wear that evening for my event for several hours, I returned and they had finally found it. It turned out the manager had been the reason my blouse (and other garments) were lost. They gave me my blouse, charged me a ridiculous amount of money, and did not apologize or offer to compensate me (via a discount) for their error, even though they had really inconvenienced me. I have never had this happen to me at any other dry cleaners. I will never return here again. read more

A cotton/linen cardigan with a " can be dry cleaned" label was ruined by Angelo's. It appeared to have been washed in hot water as it had shrunk, and stiffened. I could no longer wear it! I experienced a cold response when I brought it back. Owner blamed the material, and finally offered to send it to "his lab" for a " complete analysis" which I declined. I did not expect to receive an accurate evaluation by his agent. I sent it to the manufacturer, a highly reputable upscale designer,who stated that the material has been used by them for a long time, and is dry cleanable by standard cleaning methods. They offered to send me a gift card to purchase a similar item. I have had to bring back several items to Angelo's because they were so badly pressed. Pants that I asked to have a crease were pressed flat, rear pocket flaps pressed open, stand up collars pressed down etc. I will choose another dry cleaner in town, and hang cleaned clothes outside or in my garage, in order for the cleaning product fumes to dissipate, rather than have any more of my clothes destroyed at Angelo's. read more

I tried them out via dry cleaning a sport jacket. They did a fair job with the cleaning. But charged me $1.50 more than quoted. Although, while I was there, another fellow had a complaint that they ruined his new dress shirt with bleach (read the labels, they all say no bleach) After admitting they put bleach in the wash, they blamed the manufacturer for not dying the shirt evenly. I brought new draperies to Angelo's for pressing. While the pressing was done well, the staff member who pressed them, folded them on pant hangers which resulted in re-creasing the draperies. I had to re-iron all the drapes myself. I called Angelo's to tell them about this and they apologized and offered to send me back the full amount I had been charged. I brought an $85 dress to get cleaned for the first time here, when I took it out of the bag when I got home I noticed that the color from the skirt part of the dress had bled all over the top part of the dress. I worked at a dry cleaner's all throughout high school and continue to on breaks from college, and know that this would NEVER even go out of the cleaners looking this way. I brought the dress back and spoke with who I assume was the owner. I told him I knew exactly what had happened to the dress and all he could say to me was "Yes, you're right." Had no sympathy to the fact that I had just paid $13 to get the dress "cleaned" and am now out $85 for the dress, because it is not able to be fixed since it is a color dye. When I said the dress had been ruined there, he told me "we didn't ruin it." He told me to bring the dress back to the store I bought it at "because 100's of people have probably had the same problem." Needless to say, TERRIBLE customer service, and I am now out almost $100 between the cleaning and the cost of the dress. If this had been at the cleaners I work at, we would have first called the customer to let them know we were concerned that the color would bleed, and ask if they even wanted to take the risk before going any further. I got no phone call, there was no mention of the problem when I picked it up, either. NEVER going back here!!!! read more

I brought a linen jacket with a stain on the sleeve to Angelo's. It was returned with four of the six sleeve buttons broken in pieces and the stain intact. I brought the jacket back, and the owner said they weren't responsible for damage to buttons but agreed to re-clean it at no charge. They did remove the stain the second time. But their solution to the buttons was for me to find and provide replacements and they would sew them on, no charge for the sewing. The buttons were impossible to match, so I had to find and buy all new sleeve and front buttons. This took a lot of time and about $20 for the buttons. All told, it cost me $35 to have one jacket cleaned and a total of four trips to Angelo's. When I brought the cleaned and repaired jacket home, the sleeve buttons were not aligned on the sleeve and they looked like they were sewn by a hamfisted amateur. I cut them free and sewed them on correctly myself. Despite this bad experience, the promise of the non-toxic was strong and I decided to give Angelo's another chance. Anyone can make a mistake, right? I brought them a designer dress with gathered and soft pleats. When I picked up the dress, it was ruined. Some of the pleats came unstitched and Angelo's taylor attempted to repair them, leaving errant threads hanging and big wads of knotted threads on the pleats. As if that weren't bad enough, the front of the dress is puckered badly by Angelo's cleaning and repair. I'm hoping a seamstress can fix it, but quality repair is going to cost me something. No more Angelo's for me. Whatever process they use is very rough on the clothes. Two garments, both damaged, no apology, no refund or compensation for money spent to repair their damage, a lot of time wasted, poor quality tayloring, and a lot of inconvenience. I was attracted by Angelo's non-toxic claims, but their service is terrible. Maybe you'll have better luck. I don't know how they stay in business with such poor customer service -- I'll never use their services again. read more
