Melissa G was my aesthetician and the appointment started off great, although she didn't ask me how I like my brows done before starting, which is unusual. However, after 45 minutes or so I noticed she wasn't changing her gloves and they were getting really sticky with wax residue, so every time she'd touch me I'd get stickier too - the paper cover on the table underneath me was starting to come off stuck to me in shreds. After she adjusted the position of the wax table, including unplugging and replugging the wax warmer cord with her gloves still on, I politely asked her if she could change her gloves before continuing, and she said sure, she would if she *had* some (?!?!). Guess what, friends - there was only one more glove in the whole store in her size, and all the others were much much too small to fit her. I'm not sure how gloves don't get routinely restocked in a waxing salon, and I'm not sure how Melissa thought it would be ok to perform a nearly full-body wax appointment with one and a half pairs of gloves, when typically in my experience gloves get changed pretty often during a wax -- if she had welcomed me to my appointment and said, I'm so sorry, I realized I'm out of gloves, do you mind waiting 10 minutes while I run to the Bartell's LESS THAN TWO BLOCKS AWAY and grab a box, I would have been happy to wait AND would have been grateful for the emphasis on hygiene practices. I don't even want to think about the germs that got cross-contaminated onto my raw exfoliated skin from that one pair of gloves touching everything in the room. Never again will I book here.

After my last review I received emails from Ceanna accusing me that I am trying to hurt the company…read morewith my negative review and also threatening me to inform the community, I don't know which community she was talking about. She also asked me to REMOVE my review. And all this happened from 3.30 AM to 5 AM, yes early morning 3.30, the same person who didn't have time earlier to reply to my emails in the daytime. And when I told her that it's surprising that she had the time to send emails at 3.30 AM, she said that she can email at any hour suitable to her. Really? No, you cannot do that, you cannot disturb someone at 3.30 am. I couldn't sleep at all that night and it was really a horrible experience for me and I wish no one goes through something like this, that too just for a facial. Taylor Preston, the owner of Estrella Salon contacted me the next day, I had got waxing done from her in November 2014. Taylor apologized after reading Ceanna's emails and offered to give me a facial with 50% discount. You can read the whole thing below: According to Ceanna, my cancellations have interrupted her ongoing clients, but I don't know how she is accusing me for the July cancellation when she herself was not in Seattle from June to August 17th. And if she was busy she could have told me the very first day that she cannot accept new clients. She said just because she cancelled on me I shouldn't have taken it so personally and acted upon something so minor. And it doesn't warrant my emotional reactions to lash out at her business even if I got to know about the cancellation only after I inquired about my appointment. "Being informed is being informed", these were her words, and because I never received any service from her I can't write about my experience. So, in short a customer cannot be busy because they don't have any other work in their life other than getting a facial and they can't write about an experience before the actual service. She also told me that since she had OFFERED me a recommendation even when she has never met me so it was EXCELLENT customer service, yes she wrote those words in UPPER CASE. And that I never responded to this offer and that she can no longer offer me that recommendation. I mean, really? After living in Seattle for a year does anybody need recommendations? Her language clearly shows that she felt she was doing me a big favor with the RECOMMENDATION and that without her recommendation I can't find another esthetician. I felt like laughing because I have already received facials from 3 different estheticians in Seattle and they are all awesome, but I wanted something in walking distance from my apartment so I contacted her but now I really regret it. I really couldn't believe that I received emails with such language and few words in UPPER CASE and that too between 3.30 AM-5.30 AM. Are customers so unimportant that they should be obliged or scared to write about their negative experience?? This whole thing could have been handled maturely, rather than accusing and threatening a customer.

Angela is really fantastic. I had never had my lashes or brows tinted and I had never had my brows waxed. She made my first time comfortable and fun. She is a great conversationalist and answered all of my questions. The Skin Boutique is small, personal, comfortable, and relaxing with a beautiful view of a church across the street. However it's not in Fremont like Yelp says, it's now in Queen Anne surrounded by a hundred great places to shop and eat. You can easily make a fun afternoon of lunch, beauty and shopping. I had done some reading on getting lashes tinted and everything says to expect a fair amount stinging in your eyes both during and afterward the procedure. Mine hardly stung at all and only in one eye. As soon as I told Angela she quickly rinsed my eye and the stinging was gone for good. She was very concerned for my comfort, which I appreciated. My eyebrows and lashes look fantastic. I'm a redhead so I worried the color wouldn't match but it looks SO natural and I love how she shaped them. I have already recommended her to my friends. read more

I am writing this on behalf of Dawn. She is deaf/blind with cerebral palsy. She goes to Angie for facials and body treatments. The facials relax her and make her skin glow and Dawn leaves smiling. While waiting for the products to soak in Angie massages Dawn's hands with lotion. The body treatments are not on Angie's menu. Dawn's skin gets dry and itchy so Angie gives her a body scrub followed by a mask, deep cleaning and hydrating her skin. Angie goes above and beyond to give Dawn just what she needs. Angie is thoughtful and vey nice. It is her mission to give each client exactly what they require. She doesn't like me to thank her for going above and beyond she says Dawn's smile is thanks enough! read more

I would not recommend seeing Dominique for HRT or for any medical care…read more Dominique is not a specialist and is not qualified to treat women who need hormone replacement therapy. What she did to me was damaging, and I am now under the care of two qualified specialists because I needed multiple opinions to understand what was happening to my body as a result of her treatment. When I shared my lab results and treatment history with these doctors, both were appalled. Dominique never established a proper baseline of bloodwork, misdiagnosed my condition, and inserted an excessive amount of testosterone via pellets. My hormone levels ended up significantly worse than when I started, and pellets take a long time to leave the body so the effects are not easily reversible. It has become clear to me that this practice is driven by profit rather than patient care. Being an older woman or being in menopause does not make someone a hormone specialist. I also became increasingly uncomfortable with the constant pressure to purchase additional services that I did not ask for or need such as GLB treatments and lip filler. I am thin and have naturally full lips, yet these were repeatedly pushed on me in a way that felt manipulative and undermining. HRT is serious medical treatment, especially for women in perimenopause who are often vulnerable, emotional, and looking for real help. I trusted her and believed she knew what she was doing. That was a mistake, and I am now dealing with the consequences. I rarely leave reviews like this, but I feel a responsibility to warn other women: this provider is not qualified to manage hormone therapy. Or any other cosmetic procedures for that matter.

I understood that she had a strict cancellation policy requiring the full appointment price, and I provided my credit card information to secure the appointment. I booked a new-client lash fill, brow wax, and brow tint. On the day of the appointment, my car repair was taking longer than expected, so I texted Kelly to give her a heads-up. She initially said she could be flexible by up to an hour, which I appreciated, while also reminding me of her cancellation policy. As we continued texting, Kelly informed me that she would need to remove all of my existing lashes, even though they were only about a week old. This was not clearly listed as a requirement on her website or booking platform. There was an optional add-on to remove lashes from another artist, but nothing stating that a full removal was mandatory. Although I was frustrated, I was willing to accept that. What ultimately changed the situation was learning that July 31 was Kelly's final day working in Seattle because she was moving to California. This was not disclosed on her website or booking platform. She told me she had announced it on Instagram, but I do not believe a new customer should be expected to search through every social-media account for such important information before booking. People who receive lash extensions are generally looking for an ongoing artist, not someone who will remove their current lashes, perform one service, charge a new-client rate, and then immediately leave the state. Had I known she was relocating, I never would have booked the appointment. I asked Kelly whether she would consider splitting the cancellation charge because this significant information had not been disclosed. She could have charged me for the lash service but waive the brow wax and tint--anything that demonstrated some accountability or willingness to meet me halfway as I understand the value of her time. She refused. I never disputed that I had agreed to her cancellation policy. My concern was that a material fact about her business--her final day in Seattle--was not disclosed during the booking process. Kelly could also clearly see that a brand-new client had booked an appointment on her final day and could have contacted me so I could make an informed decision. Unfortunately, I felt that there was no effort to acknowledge the situation, provide reasonable customer service, or take any responsibility for the lack of transparency. My experience was disappointing, and I feel like taking my money was more important to her than ensuring a prospective customer was taken care of.

I found Lisa by a Groupon for a brow tint and wax. I've been getting my brows threaded for years,…read morebut had a bad experience and thought I would give waxing another shot. Turns out, I seem to have developed an allergy to wax, as I had a very intense and painful reaction on the skin that was waxed. But, once my skin healed? Dark tint and brow shape look great! Lisa let me know that she doesn't like to taper the end of the brow and I was feeling like mine weren't looking feminine enough, so I reached back out after and she offered to adjust them. We had a great time during the appointment. We got things off on the right foot (insert sarcasm here) when I broke her table... Yep, put one butt cheek up on it and the whole thing came crashing down. She was so cool about it, even though I was super embarrassed. I'm fat, so I was blaming myself and she just kept telling me that it was a super old table and she needed to get a new one anyway. I'm pretty sure that I apologized ten times and she insisted it wasn't a big deal. I laid down on the couch in her waiting room and we used that to get things done, lol! Thanks to the allergic reaction, I'm not sure Lisa will be able to become my new brow gal, but I would absolutely come back for other services!

With such great service, personality, parking, and reasonable prices, I'll be back.
