After Home Depot quoted me $35 to copy a key, I decided to try Andy's Lock & Key in Reno, and I'm so glad I did. The staff was incredibly professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Not only did they provide excellent service, but they copied the key for under $6. It's refreshing to find a local business that offers both outstanding customer service and fair pricing. The process was quick, easy, and hassle-free. I'll definitely be returning for any future locksmith needs and highly recommend Andy's Lock & Key to anyone looking for honest, professional, and affordable service. I love this shop! Every time I go in there, they are so friendly, fast and effective. They have a great variety of fun keys to choose from, and they can work with a variety of different types of fobs. Quality is always awesome! They made my truck key copy better than the original. read more

I had a key fob that was not working very well anymore, and I brought it in to see if they could figure out why. Turns out, they knew the exact reason and they were able to fix it! I was able to get another key fob added to the truck in just a few minutes. I appreciated how easy it was to walk in and get the service I was looking for. It was also less costly than other locksmiths in town. read more

Andy's Lock & Key - Replacement fob buttons - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Reno, Nevada

Andy's Lock & Key has been in the little building in the old Shoppers Square at Wells and Virginia for as long as I can remember. They are no nonsense and always quick, affordable, and professional. A simple copy of keys is always a quick in and out with no upselling or other distractions. Plus, the key copies have always been a perfect fit when I do a test later. If you are looking for key accessories, there is a huge supply at Andy's. I also love how many decorative and colored keys they have available if you want an upgraded key for aesthetic purposes. This is my go-to key shop! read more

They got me a spare key working way cheaper than the dealer. These guys know what's up.

Matt at the Sparks location made my entire day!!!! GO TO ANDY'S to have your lock problem fixed!!! I have a truck that the ignition key wouldn't turn easily. I was very worried that I needed to have the ignition replaced. Matt quickly explained that Chevy trucks almost never have to have an ignition replaced. Sure enough, he made new keys with factory cuts and the truck starts so easily! He did it fast, explaining that old keys just wear out. AND AT A REALLY FAIR PRICE! Thank you for being fast, reliable and fairly priced. read more

I decided to visit Andy's when trying to find a vintage, hard to find house key. I was amazed! The minute I set foot in the door I was greeted by an expert and less than 60 seconds, they had found the correct key and cut three copies expertly. It seems fewer and fewer places like this exist and are getting replaced by machines that can only cut six generic designs. Andy's is the real deal and I'll be doing all of my business with them going forward. read more

Had key and fob programmed and they went above and beyond and decent price highly recommend.

Nice staff and a great job programing keys & fobs for our entire family. When it comes to anything like locks & keys, if they don't have it, you probably don't need it. They even had keys in stock for the cabinets on our 15-year-old motorhome. This business is my go-to place for keys. Their prices are reasonable. Andy's has been there forever, and with good reason. Very positive experiences and my go-to place for keys. This is a locally owned business. Give them a try !! read more

Andy's Lock & Key has been there as long as I can remember. I needed 3 keys made. One key for our 2009 Chevy flatbed, no problem. One key for a QUIKSET closet door we have, no problem. The last key we needed made was for a 2013 Club Car golf cart, not a chance. The Club Car golf cart we received didn't work. I held it up next to the key we took them to replicate from and it was even close. This was the second time I've been there and last time everything worked great but this time only 2 out of 3 made the cut, no pun intended. read more

Just a chill little vibe. Good music, quick work. Nice people. Came in to get a key for my old truck that I just bought that I snapped and even though it was bent they got it going and everything went well. read more

Our home was built in 1920, and I'm pretty sure the front door and lock is original. I was really worried that it was too old to be fixed. On November 7 2023, Travis with Andy's Lock and Key showed up at our house, on time, to repair and re-key the lock and make us 8 new keys. Almost literally in no time at all, Travis had the lock repaired and re-keyed, and handed me 8 new keys, all of which worked perfectly. I paid the very reasonable bill with a credit card and he was on his way. I was so impressed with this company and Travis' abilities, friendliness and competence. They are now my permanent "Go To" for any future locksmith requirements. read more

I have been coming to this locksmith for years. Every key always worked, and the customer service has always been great.

They have helped us many times. We have always had a good experience using their conveniently located business.

I highly recommend this establishment! Went to Andy's for a key FOB replacement. They programmed the FOB with ease, charged a reasonable amount and gave great customer service. I will definitely go back if I need key replacements again! read more

I have been using this company for years to change my locks only because they are very close to my office. When they come they are dirty and have oily dirty hands and get the this blackness all over my doors, walls and handles and everything else they touch. I spend the next 15 minutes cleaning it all up. I asked the locksmith that showed up 15 minutes late to wash his hands because I just had everything cleaned and painted for the new tenants. He called his boss to complain about me asking him to wash his hands. He decided not to change my locks and told me to find another locksmith. He said that "this was a dirty job and he goes from job to job and of course his hands will be dirty". I told him that "I was a dentist and I went from patient to patient but I washed my hands in between and my hands were always clean". He told me this was a different line of work and left in a huff. read more

Needed some help getting an entire new set of keys, including my "expensive" car key. Customer service is amazing! Can't forget the guy who helped me, Brian, easy to remember. There was a moment where Brian could have mislead me and taken advantage of the situation by up charging me. He did not. In fact, Brian's honestly saved me a good amount of money when it came to my car key. Really appreciated Brian's integrity with this transaction. One of the many reasons I highly recommend this company. Brian fixed the chip in my "old" key and after a little bit of time I was setup with what I needed. It's businesses like this that have excellent staff on hand to provide amazing customer service. 5 STARS! read more

If you need any key, lock, or locksmith services this is hands down the finest business in Washoe County. If all small businesses were run with this type of honest, straightforward, and reliable character there would be no need for big box stores. In the past we have purchased Keys for our motor home, locks, cars, office, house and just about anything else that has a lock. On today's visit I had a key that wouldn't start my car. The man ran a free test in informing that the key should program to my car and gave me very simple instructions on how to do it myself instead of trying to charge me to do it. I can't think of an occasion that I wouldn't go to this locksmith for any key in any situation. read more

Keys are a necessary evil of life. Extra copies. New ones when the old ones wear down. All of them require a trip to a key store. I've always gone to a box hardware store but when I saw this location and their crazy selection of designs, I was swayed. I pulled into the lot and found ample parking. I was being greeted as I was still stepping through the door. I showed the employee the key I needed and I was shown two cases and one display of all my options. The two designs I chose were a no brainer but wow was I enjoying all the options. The keys were cut and I was paid in less than 5 minutes. Keys are working great and I will definitely keep this place in mind. read more

Andy's Lock & Key - 2 new keys. In and out in less than 5 minutes. - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Reno, Nevada

Pulled up to the drive-through to get two Key copies. Thought to myself, hey let's give them more business and buy some accessories. With my adult passenger in the car I go to take a quick look. As soon as I open the door I have three jerks looking at me like I walked into the bathroom while they were on the toilette. One of them starts hollering that I can't be inside if I'm at the drive-through window. I point out that my daughter is in the car, which means she can move it if need be. The guy goes, " it doesn't matter, you can't be in here while you're in the drive through. So I shrug, say "alright", and go to move the car. The (insert bad word here) hands me my keys out the window rudely while saying "you can take your rude business elsewhere." Mission accomplished, hopefully not Andy. To think that I used to refer my friends and family to go to this place for years. read more

Always been happy with this business. We need keys made often and this last time it was a spare set for our car. It was an odd key but they had one for us. We also used them to change locks on a new home we bought and they came out promptly and took care of each and every door lock. We like their drive-thru and usually go that route for keys. It is easy and we can stay in the car while being served. We never have to wait long and they are friendly too. The kiosk is easy to get to and in a good location right off Virginia. Now, it would be wonderful if they also had another location in South Reno too. Overall, happy with this business. read more

Andy's (ALK) has been my go to spot for years, they done everything from making a simple key copy including pad locks (which they recommend testing to make sure they work) to losing my my keys in the past and having them come out mobile to make from scratch (don't do this)! They are a small family run shop, it's tight quarters, but I always feel comfortable and get professional service. When I bought a new car year ago, the key wouldn't stay locked into the casing (folding key - not my 1st choice). The 1st thing I did was take to them to get me a one, that wouldn't open up in my pocket. That worked for a couple of years, then the actual metal key brought off while I was leaving work (according to them they get multiple calls a week about this issue with my car brand - it's a luxury tier too)! I was freaking out, as I had just ordered lunch and need to drive to pick it up, luckily a cowoker helped. I call ALK afterwards to get home, they had a hack, where you put the key in (weird feeling) keep the remote by (awkward feeling) and based on the type of vehicle I have, it only needs the chip close by to start, but not keep close to drive (Thank Source)! These are the kinds of things that are nice to have, and I was so glad I bought the key from them, because, I felt like I had someone to go to for help when it arose, vs. the dreaded dealership, who would love to charge you HUNDREDS of Dollars to replace! To summarize this recent experienc, we had to end getting that unit replaced as it wouldn't stay locked into the case after swapping out (defective case locking mechanism), I almost let it go, but brought it too their attention in a timely manner, and they took care of everything start to finish with no hassle, and I'm back in business! I always recommend them (see previous review) and if you need to check them out, you'll likely become a loyal/happy client as well! read more

Tiny little key making shop on the corner of Virginia Street & Plumb! Kinda ....Just behind the Bank of America!! It's Tiny!! Think FOTOMAT ... google it if you don't remember. Our new house came with one key. ONE. And apparently, it's too ancient for modern materials. After striking out at every key kiosk in town, including the manned station at Lowe's, I figured it was time to get professional help, although I wasn't looking forward to paying for a house call. Luckily, I'd seen the random little hut that is Andy's right behind the bank one day. I pulled up to the window with low expectations, yet I was pleasantly surprised! Not only were they able to make me the keys in no more than 5 minutes, I also got a fun key history lesson while I waited! Turns out they stopped making my model in the 60s and the worker hadn't duplicated one of them in a few years. Anyway, 5/5 stars for being able to meet my needs, and having great, friendly customer service! read more

I just a home in Reno and I needed to rekey my whole house, that would be seven locks in all. Nate was the guy that showed up (on time) to do the work for me. I found him very professional and sweet. We had fun conversation and he gave me some tips and advice about the whole Reno scene; that's invaluable to someone like me who is not familiar with the area very well... He did a stellar job; I was anxious to have the locks changed fast because I had a fear that the seller might be coming into the house...We closed escrow two weeks ago. Things didn't go well in the end with our seller so I don't want him on MY property anymore. Back to Nate; Andy's should be proud and happy to have such a epic person working for them. I must also mention John the man I spoke to when I made my appointment. He was very cordial and got my appointment very quickly. read more

A help every time. I've been here many times. Always have what I need. Even some obscure items

Previously we have used this company for their services and was able to get the information we needed, HOWEVER we have now chosen to go elsewhere-upon calling for an updated quote for our business in the instance we are in need of getting our building re-keyed with keys reprinted-I was given different information than what was previously confirmed. I appreciate their service but the lack of logistics and company policy regarding what I asked wasn't available. My question "whats the cost to have a lock rekeyed and a new key made." Seems like a simple question to me.l specially when I gave them the lock and key information. If there are different costs we would need to know all those. What I was told is that they cant provide that information because it depends on if they come out at 8:30-9pm or a different time. I asked them to clarify what the 30 minute time window was and I also asked to confirm what those costs were for each different time. They told me they couldnt give me an exact cost because it was up to the person who would be getting the call because they would be getting out of bed to go do the service. (At this point if my query verification I realized that I was inadvertently asking this person to clarify and be accountable to the vague information he was giving and it was triggering him.) Which means they apparently dont have an exact company policy for emergencies or after hours. It would seem standard to me that if they have emergency on call people that these people would have agreed to this work and it would be expected. They would have specific rates and should be able to quote those. Even if there are times when they cannot go out. Pretty disappointed because previously I was quoted all this information from another associate about 6 months ago. It was simple and easy and loved the service! During this call the person acted annoyed that I was confirming what they were telling me and for what ever reason couldnt answer with specifics. I don't understand what is so difficult in regards to having policies and procedures that are standard business practices for the customer to inquire about. If there is a cut off for services then the customer should be able to know that, if there are different rates then the customer should be able to know that too. Any logistics a customer should be able to ask about. Seriously surprised about this interaction and it showed me a whole different side of this company that I never knew. I have recommended them to so many people and now I am torn on whether its ethical to send people here if this is the treatment they will receive. I will give it a bit to see if things change or maybe they needed to do some education with their employees? I want to give more stars and am very happy to adjust this rating after a different experience SPECIFICALLY because I know they can do better. read more

So I drive across town takes me about 30 min to get there and as I'm walking up to the building the employee inside comes Running to the door and says oh we I just drove across town And I need just one keymaid he did not care he threw that close sign on and locked the door. Andy and his crew run a great shop--They strongly adhere to Custer's policy of "Get Er Done!"...Computer car keys and house keys are a great deal at Andy's ...Gabriel and Nate both have great attitudes, and simply like helping customers out...Andy is personable and helpful--and at Andy's, they convey no attitude like some Reno shops--who act like they are doing you a "favor" by working on your locks and keys... If you like to waste time--Andy is not your man... If you like work done quickly, on deadline, with a smile--and getting you back on your way--Go see Andy and his crew... At Andy's--they even have a drive thru window..One note--Andy mentioned he had a sour client, because Andy legally cannot make a new car key from scratch without legal identification and the matching car registration...That law is to make sure he is not keying a stolen car... read more

Wow. Prompt and quick. I recently purchased a new townhouse and wanted to rekey three locks. So I checked out locksmiths on Yelp and chose this one. I made an appointment, I was given a half hour range but the service man showed up right on time. I was really excited when he offered to key three locks all alike. Cool I didn't know you could do that. Then he went thru the pile of keys I was given and threw out the nonworking ones and labeled the others. Andy's Lock & Key is a great place for your lock and key problems. I went to get a lock on a drawer fixed and it was not your everyday regular lock. It was a Cambi-lock. It was not in stock but they special ordered it for me. So I left the lock there with them so they could have it for comparison. They took the lock and got my contact information. They said they would call me when they got the replacement lock in. It took a few days but it came in and they got a hold of me. I actually had to come in the next day because of work related issues. So when I came in they had no issue with me coming in a day late. They are very accommodating and easy going about it. They also didn't have a problem about payment for the job they did. I don't think they actual charged me for the installation. These guys are really great. Their customer service is great, the staff is friendly and knowledgable. There hours are reasonable and there is a drive up window for picking up your keys. Very convenient addition. They also had great custom keys. I got a picture of some custom key shaped like an AK-47 and a tommy gun. That is outstanding haha. I am seriously thinking about getting one. They also have those magnet key box there for your car keys. Great thing to have in case you lose your key. Get a magnet key box and key it under your car. I would recommend Andy's Lock & Key. They are good at what they do. I have never had issues with them. Thanks for reading my review. read more
