We suddenly needed an ignition block (I think it is called) replaced today in my van while we were out getting parts for our other vehicle so my hubby could do that repair. When it rains, it pours... Two out of two vehicles down at once... They got there in less time than estimated, fixed it very quickly, and the price was even lower than they expected to charge us. (Estimated service call, parts, and labor at about $240 and it was $201. For a vehicle repair, this was honestly about as painless as it gets. I definitely recommend them! read more

Vincent came out to change out the locks in my new home. Fast, efficient and friendly. He also was direct and honest. When asked about changing out the door handle on my sliding doors, he provided useful information and had my best interests in mind. Thank you. Will definitely use them again. read more

Accidentally locked my car key in the car. They responded within minutes, got it open in minutes and charged a reasonable price

Keys GALORE! I stopped in to get some extra keys made for work. The place is filled with all sorts of keys and locks. I'd imagine they have just about anything you'd be looking for. I just needed some simple keys made, but did notice that they do all types of transponder keys as well. The only reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is because the place smells like an old casino gaming floor when you walk in. I was surprised at the smell of stale cigarettes. The guy that helped me was friendly and got my keys to me quickly. I'll be back to get some more keys soon. read more

Reno Sparks Lock - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me

I've needed their services twice in the last several years. First time, I needed them to replace/repair the ignition switch in my 92 Ford E250; they completed the work in less than 15 minutes while I & my van waited out in front of their business. 2nd Time, I wanted a duplicate key for my 2009 Toyota Yaris, the type of key that requires a program. They tapped into my vehicle's computer & then created a key for me that works exactly like my original key. These guys are definitely "experienced" & know what they are doing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

I visited Reno Sparks Safe & Lock today to re-key a new Residential Entry Locking Door Knob. Walt, the Owner was there who has helped me two times previously with Medeco locks. One of my 20+ year old Residential Locking Entry Knobs had broken. I had been to Home Depot to see if I could find a replacement with the same keyway so I could have it keyed to the same key that all the Entry knobs & Deadbolt on my house are keyed for. No luck. In the back of my mind I was thinking that I should drive over to Sparks and see if Walt might have one. Instead, I went online to the Weiser Brand website. After noodling around there a bit I discovered that Weiser has a Lifetime Warranty. I called Weiser and they sent me a brand new knob set, free. When I received it I discovered that it was much lower in quality than the 20 year old job I had, but what was I to do? I decided it would do, besides the Deadbolts on the doors are what provide most of the security. I took the new knob set to Reno Sparks Lock & Safe to have Walt re-key it to my old key. I pointed out to him that it seemed to be of significantly lower quality than my old one. He told me it really isn't a "Weiser", as Kwikset had bought Weiser and the quality, for sure, is not what it used to be... I asked him if he happened to have any of the old ones "used" laying around. He said he'd take a look... A couple minutes later he comes back to the counter with an old Weiser with the exact same look as mine in great condition... I asked him how much, he said $10.00. It needed to be re-keyed $10.50. I had the new one re-keyed too as a ready backup for the future. All tolled, thirty some dollars. Oh, and another thing... The shop has easy parking and is as Clean as any shop I have ever been in. This is just a great place all 'round. Professional, with a great inventory of locks of all kinds, safes, etc. Anyone requiring anything to do with locks, keys, safes, security chain, you name it, should start their shopping here. If you live on the far south end of Reno, it is definitely worth the trip! Thanks again Walt. read more

Real customer service is rare. This place is clean, courteous and caring. Much appreciated!

My boyfriend was preoccupied with trying to bring some things to me he didn't grab his house key. Of course after hours. Mark was my second call. His price was more reasonable than the first and he was here in the 30 minutes he said it would take him. He was very friendly and although he didn't pick the lock with hollywood movie speed (2 seconds lol) he had us inside in under 2 minutes. I was surprised he didn't want to see our ID first but once unlocked it was his first question. He was incredibly polite, personable, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend read more

The key fob for my vehicle stopped working. After being told by the dealer that another key fob would require a diagnostic appointment plus $200, I decided to go another route. I ordered a new key fob online, and called a locksmith, who informed me that my vehicle was "a pain", and that he really didn't want to do the work, but would charge me $150 to reprogram the key fob. I told him not to put himself out. After writing a scathing review of the first locksmith on Yelp, I called Reno Sparks Lock & Glass. The difference in customer service couldn't have been more stark. Being that I called after hours, Mark told me to hold off coming in to avoid paying emergency service charges (thanks!). When I did come in, they were able to reprogram the key fob in about five minutes, and charged me $40. Awesome. These guys were friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonable. I'll be coming to them for all of my locksmith needs from this point forward. Highly recommended! read more

The guy who answered the phone said he would be there in 30-45 minutes. He was here in less than 20 minutes. Mark, the same guy who answered my call, greeted me with a great smile and was friendly throughout his service. Mark is a bonafide Lock and Key Wizard with a Level 100 Locksmithing skill set. By his third trick, Mark had my door opened and I was much relieved, especially since I had wrongly envisioned a very long and pricey locksmith experience. The price was fair and exactly what he quoted me on the phone. He was able to take my credit card and he amicably wished me well. The whole experience lasted about 40 minutes total. That's insane. Well, that's Reno Sparks Lock & Safe. Thanks again, Mark! read more

This morning I made the error of locking my keys in my car once I got to work. I called several places to get quotes. One quote I got was for $125 which was just too much for me to pay. I called Reno Sparks Lock & Safe and they charged me only $65 and were here within 20 minutes!! The whole thing took about 10 minutes total and I was beyond happy to be paying $65 over $125. I hope this doesn't happen to me again anytime soon but if it does, I know who I'm calling next time!!! Check them out! read more

Needed keys for a late model vehicle... and these guys were recommended to me. Fast, courteous and professional for sure. If you need keys for a car... go there! The keys were crazy expensive... but I think that is par for the course with new-fangled cars ($75 for 2 keys). They took my american express card, which is always a plus for me. I had to laugh when reading their other reviews... as I am not the only one to notice the stale cigarette smell. It is AWEFUL, The guy who made my keys was coughing... and in short order, i was doing the same. I'm back in my office now... and my clothing smells like I walked through a casino. Yuck. read more

Called in for service and they came on the same day. The prices are very competitive and the service is excellent, Mark was the Technician that came and he is a super nice and respectful man. Called about 3 different companies in town and I didn't find a cheaper service price by $10 difference but the reviews were not really great. Overall , this was great quick service and you can tell the employees are happy. Recommend this company for residential, business and cars. read more

First class service from quote to the actual service from Walt and his team. They came out in the pouring rain and made me a brand new car key which saved me from having to go to the dealer. I was told that a technician would be at the grocery store to unlock my car between 20 and 30 minutes. When I called after an hour and 20 minutes, it was still another 30 minutes. I was there almost 2 hours and not happy. I told Mark, the technician, about this when he arrived. He opened by car and told me there would be no charge. He said that that is just not the way that they do business! He did the right thing and I really appreciate it. I'll use them again, for sure!!!!! read more

After calling this company to schedule an appointment, they told me they would have a vehicle out to help me with a new key between 11:30 and noon. At 11:45, I called, they said they would call the tech and call me right back. They finally did call me back to tell me they ran out of keys and wouldn't be able to assist me. Don't think they'd call to let me know had I not called them myself after waiting for an hour. This was after calling them to attempt to schedule the appointment in the first place, which took them 2 hours to "call me right back". Very unprofessional. read more

This place is great! I had both doors to my work can broken and I was officially locked out. These guys came to my rescue and opened the doors. I had a horrible experience the day before with another company. They literally drove away and left me standing there. Thanks to Ford they sent me to these guys. Mark was incredible. Thanks again guys for EVERYTHING!!! This was from a month ago. read more

We've been using Walt and Brenda for all of our re-keying needs for homes we manage. They do a amazing job. They are reasonable priced, quick to respond, and very through on their work. We've never had issues like we did with the last locksmith. It's refreshing to know that the locks will work better and not worse when Reno Sparks Lock & Key is done with the job. I've never had a complaint on their services, and I've never had a dishonest invoice. I could not recommend them more. read more

Am overdue on giving them a deserved outstanding review. They helped with an eviction over a year ago with seamless professionality. On purchasing a new property this year, they were very helpful in evaluating and servicing the security of the various locks in the home. In both cases, their prices were very reasonable. read more

They were able to read the codes and make me new keys for my Dodge 300. Great work thanks.

We called these guys after we lost our key fob at Legends. We told them we had twin 4 year old (it was 45 degrees) and asked if they could make a new key. We didn't want to leave our car because we knew someone else had taken the key. They asked what type of car etc for the fob. They said ok, and they would be out if 40 mins. I got a call 40 minutes later saying they didn't have any of our fobs in stock. Would have been nice to know! My twins thank you for adding 40 minutes to an already long and stressful ordeal. read more

I am anxious to write this review because the people that work here are so great! I had to run a quick errand so as usual I had my 42lb 6th month old Standard Poodle go in her crate that is located in our bedroom because she also sleeps in it when everyone goes to bed for the night. I shut her crate door and shut the bedroom door and was gone for little over a half hour. I always head straight for the bedroom when I get home to let her out . When I got to the door I could tell she was not in her crate because she was pawing the bedroom door and when I turned the doorknob the door would not open. I thought she was laying in front of the door but no luck, she dead bolted herself in the bedroom. Did what anyone would do, I guess, and did everything I could think of to open that door. Could not do it so realized I needed a professional. I looked up lock companies and Reno Sparks, Lock and Safe was at the top on Yelp so I called. They were out here within 15 minutes!!!! Can you believe that?! Chris helped me and he could not be a nicer person. He did everything he could to make sure I had what I needed in case this ever happened again and was so sweet to my big puppy when she came barreling out of the bedroom. I want this company to stay at the top of the Yelp list for locks so I hope this helps that happen. You can't go wrong with this company! Thank you!! read more

Thanks Walt. Highly recommend, professional and extremely helpful.
