Keys GALORE! I stopped in to get some extra keys made for work. The place is filled with all sorts of keys and locks. I'd imagine they have just about anything you'd be looking for. I just needed some simple keys made, but did notice that they do all types of transponder keys as well. The only reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is because the place smells like an old casino gaming floor when you walk in. I was surprised at the smell of stale cigarettes. The guy that helped me was friendly and got my keys to me quickly. I'll be back to get some more keys soon. read more

I visited Reno Sparks Safe & Lock today to re-key a new Residential Entry Locking Door Knob. Walt, the Owner was there who has helped me two times previously with Medeco locks. One of my 20+ year old Residential Locking Entry Knobs had broken. I had been to Home Depot to see if I could find a replacement with the same keyway so I could have it keyed to the same key that all the Entry knobs & Deadbolt on my house are keyed for. No luck. In the back of my mind I was thinking that I should drive over to Sparks and see if Walt might have one. Instead, I went online to the Weiser Brand website. After noodling around there a bit I discovered that Weiser has a Lifetime Warranty. I called Weiser and they sent me a brand new knob set, free. When I received it I discovered that it was much lower in quality than the 20 year old job I had, but what was I to do? I decided it would do, besides the Deadbolts on the doors are what provide most of the security. I took the new knob set to Reno Sparks Lock & Safe to have Walt re-key it to my old key. I pointed out to him that it seemed to be of significantly lower quality than my old one. He told me it really isn't a "Weiser", as Kwikset had bought Weiser and the quality, for sure, is not what it used to be... I asked him if he happened to have any of the old ones "used" laying around. He said he'd take a look... A couple minutes later he comes back to the counter with an old Weiser with the exact same look as mine in great condition... I asked him how much, he said $10.00. It needed to be re-keyed $10.50. I had the new one re-keyed too as a ready backup for the future. All tolled, thirty some dollars. Oh, and another thing... The shop has easy parking and is as Clean as any shop I have ever been in. This is just a great place all 'round. Professional, with a great inventory of locks of all kinds, safes, etc. Anyone requiring anything to do with locks, keys, safes, security chain, you name it, should start their shopping here. The guy who answered the phone said he would be there in 30-45 minutes. He was here in less than 20 minutes. Mark, the same guy who answered my call, greeted me with a great smile and was friendly throughout his service. Mark is a bonafide Lock and Key Wizard with a Level 100 Locksmithing skill set. By his third trick, Mark had my door opened and I was much relieved, especially since I had wrongly envisioned a very long and pricey locksmith experience. The price was fair and exactly what he quoted me on the phone. He was able to take my credit card and he amicably wished me well. The whole experience lasted about 40 minutes total. That's insane. The key fob for my vehicle stopped working. After being told by the dealer that another key fob would require a diagnostic appointment plus $200, I decided to go another route. I ordered a new key fob online, and called a locksmith, who informed me that my vehicle was "a pain", and that he really didn't want to do the work, but would charge me $150 to reprogram the key fob. I told him not to put himself out. After writing a scathing review of the first locksmith on Yelp, I called Reno Sparks Lock & Glass. The difference in customer service couldn't have been more stark. Being that I called after hours, Mark told me to hold off coming in to avoid paying emergency service charges (thanks!). When I did come in, they were able to reprogram the key fob in about five minutes, and charged me $40. Awesome. These guys were friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonable. This morning I made the error of locking my keys in my car once I got to work. I called several places to get quotes. One quote I got was for $125 which was just too much for me to pay. I called Reno Sparks Lock & Safe and they charged me only $65 and were here within 20 minutes!! The whole thing took about 10 minutes total and I was beyond happy to be paying $65 over $125. Called about 3 different companies in town and I didn't find a cheaper service price by $10 difference but the reviews were not really great. After calling this company to schedule an appointment, they told me they would have a vehicle out to help me with a new key between 11:30 and noon. At 11:45, I called, they said they would call the tech and call me right back. They finally did call me back to tell me they ran out of keys and wouldn't be able to assist me. I am anxious to write this review because the people that work here are so great! I had to run a quick errand so as usual I had my 42lb 6th month old Standard Poodle go in her crate that is located in our bedroom because she also sleeps in it when everyone goes to bed for the night. I shut her crate door and shut the bedroom door and was gone for little over a half hour. I always head straight for the bedroom when I get home to let her out . When I got to the door I could tell she was not in her crate because she was pawing the bedroom door and when I turned the doorknob the door would not open. I thought she was laying in front of the door but no luck, she dead bolted herself in the bedroom. Did what anyone would do, I guess, and did everything I could think of to open that door. Could not do it so realized I needed a professional. I looked up lock companies and Reno Sparks, Lock and Safe was at the top on Yelp so I called. They were out here within 15 minutes!!!! Can you believe that?! Chris helped me and he could not be a nicer person. We called these guys after we lost our key fob at Legends. We told them we had twin 4 year old (it was 45 degrees) and asked if they could make a new key. We didn't want to leave our car because we knew someone else had taken the key. They asked what type of car etc for the fob. They said ok, and they would be out if 40 mins. I got a call 40 minutes later saying they didn't have any of our fobs in stock. Would have been nice to know!
