Coming off of a bad relationship with a dentist; I hate to speak in such coarse terms, but Andy Kau and the entirety of the other licensed professionals and personalities are an excellent rebound! I legitimately find myself planning my own trips to the dentist's now.....for FUN. Real talk though, Andy is a warm, welcoming face, who openly shares best practices, and levels with me as an adult. For that, Dr. Kau is now a partner on my mutually beneficial dental adventure for the rest of my time in the 626! Most importantly is a feeling of integrity. And of course, the overwhelming cute/thoughtful posters above the operating chairs :D Hands down, best dental experience to date. New patient here. I've been looking for a new dentist for a long time, and finally took the plunge with Dr. Kau. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted by every person who came to the front desk. They new my name and were extremely kind and thorough in explaining everything -- from the process, to the x-rays, to acknowledging my anxieties and concerns. Dr. Kau was very thorough with his exam, and the explanations were easily understood. I also had an AMAZING dental hygienist experience. Andrea was SUPER nice and so caring and careful with my teeth. Wonderful, caring Dental Office! Dr. Kau and staff are fantastic. I feel so thankful to have found a dentist I can trust. I had a terrible experience with not one but two dentist prior to coming to this practice and was on edge, but after seeing Dr. Kau for over 3 years, I can say that he is superior and I completely trust him. In my prior experience I've had a dentist that was completely negligent and a dentist that was overzealous and seemed to be only in it for the billing. Dr. Kau is neither of these things. He is conservative in his approach, but extremely attentive. He attends regular continuing education seminars and is on top of any new / developing studies. My husband and children also come to this practice. Dr. Kau and his staff are warm, inviting and make sure you are always comfortable. I actually see Dr. Laura Chew, at Dr. Kau's office. Finally a dentist that checks in and asks if you're still doing ok during the procedure multiple times. I didn't leave the office soaking wet from the stupid sprayer and they even gave me cool little glasses to protect my eyes. I had a 15+ yr old root canal that was never crowned.Dr. Chew and Melissa did it in a way that was almost fun. They talked and joked with me, and obviously have a working method that's like watching synchronized swimming. Super professional and efficient, no looking for equipment or getting up and leaving the room without notice. Not once did I feel like I was about to drown like at another dentist in Pasadena. I have seen 2 or 3 dental hygienists for cleanings and all were wonderful. Quick, but thorough, and I didn't feel like someone was digging for gold in my mouth for hours afterwards, just clean teeth. And the office staff is super nice and efficient too! Usually you get one or the other. Good office staff and dental hygienists, but impersonal grumpy dentist, or a great dentist with incompetent staff. Everyone in this office is awesome. read more

Went for my first time yesterday for a cleaning and some other work with Dr Chew. The entire staff was extremely friendly and thoughtful. Dr Chew was very thorough in communicating what she was seeing and did a great job. Pain free! I also felt very informed moving forward about the plan to keep my mouth healthy. Maybe the best dentists anywhere, ever. Dr. Chew is my regular dentist and she is amazing. I had an issue while she was out of the office and she got ahold of me from out of the country to see if she could help. Then, when it needed immediate attention, Dr. Kau squeezed me in the next day, fixed my problem, and called a few days later to check on it. Had my first visit yesterday...it was the first time I can actually say I had a GREAT experience at a dental office. After my last dental experience at a place I won't mention, I was horrify to go to a dentist. The last dentist recommended a "deep cleaning" and other procedures that were going to cost me $600-800 out-of-pocket with insurance. You would think with that kind of treatment plan, my teeth were going to fall out at any moment. But my teeth have survived for the next 10 months until I came to see Dr. Kau. If you are skittish aboout going to see a dentist like me, then this is the place for you. Dr. kau was very friendly and professional. He loves to educate his patients and explain to them what exactly he is doing and recommending. He said during our visit "we may not be the best, but we'll always be honest"...wow, how rare is that to find a personable, professional, and honest dentist, especially after the previous experience I had! All of the staff, front office, back office, and dental hygienists were very friendly and always happy to shake my hand or say hello. I wish I could give them 10 stars for how awesome they all have been. Drea was very gental with me when she did my x-ray, again another first for me. Susan was very gental when she cleaned my teeth. Overall, I love this place and will definitely keep coming here as long as I still have teeth LOL. Dr. Kau and Dr. Chew are top notch when it comes to finding a dentist in the Pasadena area, Saturated with dentists, it's really hard to find professionals that actually care about you and are honest when it comes to your care. Susan, my hygienist is amazing. My teeth were thoroughly cleaned, and we had a lot of fun chatting. Dr. Kau checked in on my teeth as well. Last time, he referred me to get my wisdom teeth removed (I was having a lot of pain and swelling around them). I did, and I couldn't be happier. Both me and my husband are out-of-network for insurance, and we still come here because it's the best experience either of us has ever had at a dentist. I was referred to Dr. Andy by a friend who's a Pasadena native. Although I've lived in Pasadena for a long time, I've never found a really good dentist, let alone one who took my insurance. I had been using a DDS in Downtown LA who retired, so I needed a new dentist right away. They got me in for an appointment no problem. The staff is friendly and helpful. Dr. Kau is up on the latest dental tech and care, but has a great chair side manner and really tells you what's going on in an easy to understand and efficient manner. Dr. Kau is awesome! read more

Dr. Al Malouf of Altadena is the most wonderful dentist! He is so experienced and kind and gentle, that I enjoy going there. Whenever I have a complicated procedure, he calls to check on me. I am a relatively new patient of Dr. Kau's practice, having moved to the Los Angeles area from the East Coast in June. Our family had made a couple moves in the past two years, the first one taking me away from my trusted dentist of 15+ years (who was literally like family to us). After this I had a couple bad experiences before meeting Dr. Kau's team. I came to them the first time with an urgent need for help (issues with two of my wisdom teeth), and was honestly scared of having another bad experience. This probably showed, as Dr. Kau sat down with me for over half an hour, examined the issue, put me at ease, and got me set up to see an excellent oral surgeon the same week. I've since gone back to Dr. Kau for my first cleaning and was so impressed by not only the expertise of the entire staff (very detail-oriented and gentle cleaning by Elissa and highly professional front-desk team), but also how down-to-earth and personable they are all were, treating me as though I were a family member. After I had my wisdom teeth removed, my Invisalign retainer made by my old trusted family dentist no longer fit, and Andrea came in a bit early THE VERY NEXT DAY to fix it for me as a personal favor. So I have she and Dr. Kau to thank that at the end of the day my teeth are healthy AND now perfectly straight again! Seriously, who does that these days? My personal experience has been that it is difficult to find a dentist who is both up-to-date on the latest treatments and technologies AND who you can trust, i.e. who has a genuine interest in each individual patient's needs. (Full disclosure, my husband's father was the dentist in his hometown, so we have higher standards than most!) Like everyone else who's posted, I have only the best things to say about Dr. Kau and all the people who work here. I was a patient of Dr. Lindner's for many years, so I've been coming to this office even longer than Dr. Kau himself. It's always had a very friendly, relaxed vibe, and I was happy that the same feeling continued when Dr. Kau took over the practice. The entire staff is incredibly efficient. Scheduling is well and simply done, with a postcard and a cheery reminder phone call before every appointment; the people doing the hands-on work are really gentle and considerate. (My regular hygienist is Nicole, and she's excellent.) I also appreciate that they're respectful of patients' wishes -- I try to minimize my exposure to X-Rays, and while they remind me that I should have pictures taken from time to time, they're never pushy or overbearing. I had organically attained all my dental service from Dr. Linder with the assistance of Susy and Dr. Kau. I have had the pleasure of having the same dentist since the age of 25. At the age of 25 I had two surface fillings on two of my back teeth upon having all four wisdom teeth pulled, and today these two surface fillings are still intact, and I have never, "knock on wood" had any trouble with them, and as of today at the age of 55 I sill have the same fillings no problem, no chipping no infections. Dr. Linder was the best and is now retired, "however" Dr. Kau is Dr. Linder reincarnated. I am so happy he's my new dentist and he has kept me comforted and completely satisfied. I was referred to Dr. Andy Kau by my fiancé. From the moment I walked into Dr. Kau's office, I was treated like family! The ladies in the front office were friendly and vibrant! Once the initial paperwork was completed, a sweet dental hygienist took me on a tour of the office! She showed me around the entire back area and made me feel so comfortable! This was the first time any medical office personnel had ever given me a tour of the office! When I met Dr. Kau, I immediately felt relaxed. His bedside manner is amazing! He listens and is attentive to your needs. He takes the time to explain any questions you have and lets you know exactly what he is doing and why. He really made me feel comfortable! Dr. Kau also uses the latest in technology to determine your dental needs. About three days after my initial visit, I received the nicest "welcome card" from the entire staff! What a kind gesture! I didn't think I would need to see Dr. Kau again for a while, since my check up turned out okay, but after suffering an ski accident which left a few of my teeth broken and a possible jaw fracture, I called him to see if he could take me first thing Monday morning. The office called me first thing Monday and had me come in immediately. The entire office, including Dr. Kau, was there waiting for my arrival. They were so compassionate about my situation and what had happened. Everyone reassured me that I was in good hands and that all would be fine. And, it was! Dr. Kau had called the oral surgeon prior to my arrival and I was immediately sent to see him after Dr. Kau's initial inspection of the situation. Once I was finished with the oral surgeon, Dr. Kau called me and fit me in the same day for a "temporary" fix of one of the problem teeth! It was truly an amazing experience! I sit here writing this review feeling like everything is going to be okay...just as Dr. Kau had said! Thank you so much Dr. Kau, for making what I thought would be a "not-so-great" day a good day! The only thing I can say bad about Andy Kau is that he's an SC grad! j/k But more seriously....I have been going to this office for 20 years, since it was owned by Roger Lindner. Roger's office was famous for the amount of personal attention given to to each patient and the quality of work he prided himself in. You knew all the hygienists by name. When you came in, even for just a cleaning, many of them took the time to stop and say "hi." Roger was not the average LA area, get you in, get you out dentist. You could go in there and (although it sounds cliche) feel right at home. As long time patients have seen, Roger didn't just sell the practice to Andy...he brought him in, and mentored him for a number of years. I can say with absolute certainty, that Andy has retained all of the qualities that made Roger's office the special place it was, not to mention he has added his own touch of technology to the place. I have been the type of guy who has searched the greater LA area to do try to business with alumni from my fraternity...my Doctor, Vet, Chiropractor, Attorney, Realtor, etc. And even though there are several alumnus members who are dentists, this is the only one I no interested in replacing! read more
