After going to the same dentist for over 20 years, starting with a new dental office was definitely a new experience for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service and attention I received. From the moment I walked in, everyone made me feel right at home. Dr. Au took the time to explain the entire process and patiently answered all of my questions, which really helped make me feel comfortable. I felt like the dentist was really knowledgeable but did not take his time. The dental assistant seemed new and was sweet but I left messy from teeth molds and was sprayed in the face with water by both her and the dentist. I emphasized wanting my teeth cleaned and the dentist took two seconds to scrape and I felt for $125 I could have brushed my own teeth. Doctor Brandon Au is a great dentist. I appreciate him for being so gentle with me when he last treated me. However after my breast cancer treatment I reached out to them to schedule an appointment and the office manager Angelica black balled me treated me horribly and told me I could not be seen and had no room for new patients. I have been going to New Vision Dental since the mid-2010s. My primary dentist at this place has changed over the years--my most recent provider being Dr. Aaron Tran--but the service and care here has remained consistently positive. My teeth was in a particularly bad spot when I first stepped inside. But after repeat visits they are now in the best condition it has ever been at the time of this writing. Dr. Tran and the staff are excellent at what they do; the routine oral care that they perform--including (but not limited to) x-rays, cleaning, scraping, and gum health probing--seldom goes past mild discomfort. The occasional pain points may just be a result of having to work with my unique set of teeth and gums. But Dr. Tran is receptive to those occurrences, will work around it and sets appropriate expectations while I am in the chair. Dr. Tran and the staff also do not shy away from discussion and sharing oral hygiene advice, including recommending better brands, brushing and flossing techniques for improving preventative care in between office visits. As an example, I would not have made the switch to an electric toothbrush or (more recently) expanding floss without their counsel. And because of it, the checkups have had a progressively more positive outlook over time and become less costly. Finally, the office itself is clean and homely, the waiting room is always stocked with an assortment of magazines, and most operating rooms face an outdoor mural that is charming to look at. The only dynamic criticism I would lobby is that there can be a bit of waiting as your dentist moves from room to room, patient to patient. But at least when you come here you can be confident with Dr. Tran's work, and be absolutely frank about the whole process. read more

Came here twice a few years back and was aggressively sold treatments that I could not afford and later found out was necessary. I ultimately went to another dentist in Altadena since without issues and without being upsold unneeded treatment. The two visits I had at this office, the doctor and manager pushed me to watch an advertisement on the treatment they wanted me to undergo. They were quick to bring paperwork for me to sign without telling me what I was signing up. After telling them I could not afford the treatment, they aggressively pushed me to financing. After spending $800+ for the first visit, I told them I didn't want the treatment again during the second visit and wanted a regular cleaning. The doctor's "nice" demeanor changed immediately and he pushed me towards the exit. read more

My old dentist no longer accepted my insurance, so I was assigned to New Vision Dental. I went there in March,2026 for the first time to have a little dent on a bottom molar looked at. The tooth was NOT infected or painful in any way at that time. Dr Tran told me it's not a cavity and nothing to be done about it, but he noticed it had some toothbrush abrasion and suggested it be patched up. I had several toothbrush abrasion patch-ups done previously by other dentists without any problem. Anything to keep my teeth healthy, so I agreed to have it done even the insurance does not cover it. Three weeks later, I had a full blown infection on that particular tooth. I suspect I got the infection during the patch up procedure, so I went back to see Dr Tran in April 2026. He told me it's inside the tooth, there's nothing he could do and referred me to an endodontist. I went to my usual endodontist. There I was told to have a root canal, then to get a crown. During the root canal, the tooth abrasion patch fell off. It's not just a patch for a toothbrush abrasion, it's a huge hole drilled under the gum line, down to the pulp, almost severed one of the three roots of the tooth! I am pretty sure I got the infection when this unnecessary big hole was drilled! No longer trusted Dr. Tran, I went to a different dentist for my crown. They had to make a lengthened crown (extra charge)due to the drilling under the gum line, and it may not last because of the weakened root support (one of the three roots almost severed)! From a simple toothbrush abrasion patch up to a painful journey of root canal and a crown that costed thousands of dollars, either caused by incompetence or ill intentions, I just want to warn others of my painful and expensive experience here! read more

As someone with dental anxiety, I have a lot of fear when it comes to going to a dentist. However, Dr. Au and his team really put me at ease! Angelica at the front desk was incredibly warm and welcoming, and helped calm my nerves before my visit. The assistant that took care of me was Nick, and he made sure I understood what was happening at all times. He acknowledged my anxiety and reassured me that Dr. Au is good at what he does. I came in because I needed an emergency root canal and other things. Did i mention I was TERRIFIED of DENTISTS? They constantly tried to upsell me and charged high amounts that I was suspicious of (I had dental coverage). I've been to both the Glendora and Pasadena location over the last 10 years or so and never experienced any issues. I never have any problems with my teeth so I mostly come for a basic cleaning. Dr. Au and the team have always provided solid service and usually explains any potential issues on my gums such as my lack of flossing. Also gave me some advise in terms of keeping my teeth white and etc. On occasions I got to take home a goodie travel bag filled with toothpaste, toothbrush, and floss. I would not recommend this dental practice as they are more concerned about making money than about patient care. Recently I retired and had to change dental insurance to an HMO connected with Medicare. I had given the office staff my insurance information over the phone when I made the appointment for teeth cleaning, however, on the morning of my appointment I still had to wait one and a half hours for them to contact my HMO to be sure that their's was the office I was authorized to visit. Then the dentist, Dr. Tran, gave me an extensive list of items that needed to done that added up to over $3000. I told them I would have to reschedule for the cleaning as it was now two and a half hours that I had been there, and I had to take my husband to his doctor's appointment. I was there from 8:50 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. and had not had my teeth cleaned, only had the x-rays done. When I reviewed the list of things they said I needed done, and the cost of each item, I decided to get a 2nd opinion from the dentist that I had been seeing for over 10 years through my employer's dental insurance. When I contacted Dr. Tran's office to get my x-rays, they said I would have to pay $85 even though the HMO had already paid for the x-rays. This is by far the worst Dental Office I have ever been too - I went last year 2024 as a new patient - The staff tried to trick me into paying $1,300 out of pocket for a deep cleaning even though I had insurance. The Dentist refused to do a regular cleaning. And they did not allow me to keep the estimate, so I wouldn't be able to have proof of them taking advantage of me and robbing me! I could've brushed my teeth better than the way he brushed my teeth, and tried to floss my teeth. She noted how calm and reassuring the office staff was. The time her anxiety did kick in, a staff member began talking about my friend's favorite band. Do not waste your time or money at New Vision Dental. I was a patient there for years and I regret it terribly. I have had 5, yes 5, instances where their work did not last. I had an implant fall out, a bridge fail, 2 fillings fell out, and just yesterday a crown fell out. Crowns are supposed to be permanent. This one was only 5 or 6 years old. I have crowns from former dentists in San Diego that have lasted for decades. Dr. Au and his dental staff are incompetent. Dr. Au had to redo my implant that came loose and fell out because the post he installed the first time was too short. Then while I was in his dentist chair for the replacement implant he had the audacity to complain to his hygienist how he didn't want to return a shirt because it was inconvenient so he gave it to his brother. I was astounded. I spoke up and agreed that returning things that don't fit is inconvenient, especially when it's a defective implant that requires hammering into your jaw. The gaul of this man is unbelievable! Dr. Au is a conceited, unprofessional brat that complains to his staff, in front of patients, about how long his Porsche has been in the shop. As a patient I should not know what kind of car he drives. That is none of my business. Lastly, a different dentist there broke off a small piece of an instrument in my wife's mouth when she had a root canal. We changed insurance plans so we could leave New Vision Dental, and our new dentist saw it in the x-ray. It is something they need to keep an eye on in case it gets infected. New Vision didn't know, or didn't care, that they left a piece of steel in my wife's face. Incompetence, conceit, arrogance and a lack of professionalism is all you will get at New Vision Dental Do yourself a huge favor and steer clear of them and warn your friends and family, too. I had some X-ray work done and the dentist had checked out my teeth. I was also recommended a $900 quoted deep cleaning (NO, THANK YOU). The staff had me watch a video to try and persuade me into thinking I needed some contracted treatment to avoid an infection that may arise after my cleaning. I highly recommend Dr. Brandon. I had a wisdom tooth removed, and the procedure was done with great quality and without any pain. The doctor truly has golden hands. I had to visit several clinics, but no one agreed to take on the removal because the root of my tooth was hooked and curved. Everyone kept saying I needed a specialist who works with a microscope, but even those specialists, after seeing the X-ray of my tooth, were afraid to proceed. She was very informative and honest with my needed services and the cost. She repeated herself to make sure I understood correctly. I changed because this office was walking distant to my house. So I know how much I should be paying. I went in thinking I had no copay. We both spoke to a Karina who we found out is the manager. The way this woman talked to me. I'm surprised she's the manager or even in any kind of health care. She was arguing with us. Then told my daughter that next maybe she should come with me. When I told her I didn't know why I was charged so much. She replied why did I sign and pay then ? That I'm not a child. Like excuse me. You don't tell orderly people when the have accidents that they are acting like a child. I'm in my 70s. Dementia does hit when you get my age. sometimes we need to be treated with extra care. She said she sent me a copy of what they did. which I never received. me and my daughter had to go in the next day to physically get it. Then my daughter noticed they did 3 fillings, pictures that insurance dont pay for. fluoride that most insurance don't pay in adults. Desensitizer that insurance don't pay for either. I wasn't told or explained what they wanted to do that day. or gave me an option to do this things. If I wanted thus things that insurance don't pay. They just came in and said the cost. Started coming here after going to dentists of Pasadena on lake. Dentists of Pasadena on lake was constantly overcharging me and making really expensive recommendations so I wanted a second opinion. New Vision is much less scammy--however!! It takes forever and a day to be seen. First time I came I arrived early and waited almost an hour after my initial appointment time to go back and see the dentist. The second time I came it took over 30 minutes past my appointment time. First off, I thought switching my dental insurance to HMO from PPO was cheaper & I get told I have to pay $900 for a deep cleaning because I had a little plaque build-up. Do you think I'm f&%king stupid?! The other place I went to only charged a $60 copay & I had PPO!!! It made no sense why I even switched. Wasted $55 on an oval exam and didn't get my annual clean-up. They had the nerve to tell me why my blood pressure was so high at the time. Signed the paper to refuse and walked while I had an anxiety attack running its course. Don't waste your time here.
