It's a long story. I was recommended to Dr. Kim. He is amazing. The best I have ever had!!! I needed root canal for one of my tooth two year ago. The doctors I had before refused to do it for me. After two years delay, the tooth is on the border line of extraction! The tooth started hurting badly so I called Dr. Kim office. They accepted me right way The doctor didn't reject my root canal treatment. Instead, he did the treatment the same day after I checked in. He tried his best and save my tooth!!! Got my braces done here, never never never again! Worst experience of my life! Took 9 years to get my braces done. He was so awful to deal with and forget what he had to do my next appointment. He also messed up one of my teeth and it got pushed up into my gum and he could never fix it!! I would never ever recommend him to anyone!!!! Dr Kim is the worst person to do your braces. I contacted a lawyer and also filling a complaint. It's been a year or so since I have left but after going to a different dentists and telling them what happen to me. Dr. Kim is the best! I've gone to him twice now. The first time was to get my mercury amalgams replaced so I'd stop getting poisoned. The second was to fill in three cavities. Both times I was extremely impressed with Dr. Kim's attention to detail. I've broken 4 teeth before and had to go to several dentists to get them fixed. My mother is also a hygienist and I've had many of her employers work on me. Dr. Kim has got to be one of the best. Other dentists seem like they are rushing through a procedure and not really taking the time to get everything exactly right. I think Dr. Kim understands that I have to live with his work in my mouth for the rest of my life. Everything came out PERFECT. The other thing I like is that he is a "Biological" or "Natural" dentist. When getting the mercury fillings removed it is difficult to find a dentist that takes the proper precautions. Mercury vapor and residue is no joke, and he did every possible thing to protect me. Other biological dentists in Encinitas are extremely expensive and don't take insurance. I was quoted between $1200-1500 to get 5 silver fillings replaced. Dr. Kim took my insurance and out of pocket I paid less about $350. What a deal! By the way, don't be turned off by the exterior of the building or the area. The inside of the office is very clean and nice. Plus, Dr. Kim and his assistants are very nice and helpful. read more

I was in desperate need of finding the right dentist for my dental implant. I went to a few places to ask for quotes and received ridiculous rates. I figured I searched around my work area. I found Dr Kim's reviews on Yelp and I thought I give it a try. Scheduling and meeting Dr Kim's staff was pleasant. The staffs were so helpful and friendly. Dr Kim was so knowledgeable with explaining the implant process, it made me feel more comfortable with the whole thing. Then Dr Kim gave me a great flat rate that covers all the entire procedure. A week after my consultation, I had my procedure started. Dr. Kim's work was gentle and his post - surgery care was excellent! Not to mention, the dental office is nice, clean and the bathroom soap and lotion smells fabulous. ;-p The only downfall to all this is I wish Dr. Kim's office accepts my work dental plan. After contacting the California Dental Association, they deemed a refund was in order and I received the check from Dr. Kim's office today. **Update: When I left the area I received a small remainder check from Dr. Kim's office from what I had paid for the entire Clear Correct treatment but I had to go through the CDA proving through X-rays, pictures, and paperwork from Clear Correct that I needed to virtually redo the entire Clear Correct treatment and didn't want to pay again before CDA agreed that I should receive a second larger check from Dr. Kim's office. If the treatment had been done correctly then the CDA and Clear Correct would have looked at the x-rays and pictures and dismissed my request. I'd struggled with the braces not fitting correctly (every time Dr. Kim had to cut them down to make them fit in my mouth) meaning molds were not properly taken because upon going to my current dentist molds were taken once and the braces fit perfectly every single time. My experience with the Clear Correct treatment at this office was not one I would wish for another hence my review. If it was as cut and dry as implied, I wouldn't have had to appeal to the California Dental Association. read more

I visited Dr. Kim last week because I knew that some of my very old caps needed attention. Unbeknownst to me, I also had an abscess and it was rather large and actually caused very little pain, even though I didn't detect it. He immediately gave me antibiotics and drained the abscess in order to make sure it was efficiently eradicated. He next did some work on my neglected caps, but also had me return the following day to complete the groundwork for my repaired caps because the most important procedure was, of course, the infection. I was very thankful that he knew exactly what was going on and immediately took care of it. I will return in a couple of weeks to have the newer crowns installed. Dr. Kim is a very kind, caring and excellent dentist. He takes the time and makes a great effort to be as painless as possible and I've had no complaints. I've been using his service since he opened his practice. His entire staff are equally caring and treat each patient with respect and are very pleasant folks. I had been in a couple of weeks prior to my crowns needing attention for my cleaning and exam. The procedures that I have undergone at every appointment are done without pain and without causing any alarm to me. Dr. Kim is a great Doctor. I had to have a root canal done, that was the bad thing, the good thing was it didn't hurt at all. Dr. gives a good needle,( if there is such a thing), but really it doesn't hurt. No more hanging on for dear life when he gives it. Dr. Kim knows his stuff well. He was able to detect problems other dentist did not see. He explains clearly what needs to be done and his workmanship is excellent. What I really like is that he uses a camera to lets the patient see their teeth before, during and after treatment. He keeps his patient informed. Lastly his charges are very reasonable.
