Our meal was okay. Caprese starter had a generous serving of absolutely delicious mozzarella, but only three very thin slices of slightly underripe tomato. My husband had the Spagettoni alla Aragosta and enjoyed it. I had the special, a pork shank, which was very good. We skipped dessert. Service was pretty blah, though acceptable. $25 corkage fee was rather exorbitant. Fleming's  (within easy walking distance, about 200 meters of Andreas) and with an extensive wine list, only charges $15. On the whole, we weren't wildly impressed and, with so many great restaurants in Sarasota, won't go back. read more

Didn't love it but the food was acceptable to good. Located in an aging strip center without much curb appeal. The interior matched the center btw. Wine list was a horror show with over 10 white wines scratched out. Poor selection of American wine. Ordered the veal appetizer and it was not to my liking. Kind of like veal cold cut with rich heavy sauce...different. For dinner I had the trio of veal. I asked for it not be breaded and they could not accommodate my request. What I got was too much breaded veal. The parmigiano was good. I ordered the side pasta and that was great and homemade.. Wife ordered salmon healthy prepared, light oil and butter. Celebrated being vaccinated with fabulous dinner at Andrea's. Delicious starter of baby octopi in divine roasted tomato sauce, followed by delicious ossobucco with risotto. What an amazing dinner{. From the grilled octopus appetizer that I shared with my husband; the seafood with linguine( which was filled with mussels, clams and shrimp) to the lamb shank with mixed vegetables that my husband had. All delicious and beautifully presented! Our waiter, Michael was knowledgeable and attentive. He spaced our meal out well and recommended a wonderful bottle of Malbec, which was priced well. Dessert was amazing; a house special which I never heard of. Think of a light chocolate flan consistency. Well done everyone including Andrea, who meets each table personally. We will be back. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of YELP!!! That says it has a full bar.....I've called and it's only beer and wine....so who posts wrong, Yelp or the restaurant? Just saying! Ok, with that out of the way, the food was delish, and I discovered I like Pinot Noir! Will def try this place again, there were 4 of us and everybody loved their food! We have been visiting the area for 18 years, and while we have certainly not eaten at every good restaurant around (there are a lot of good restaurants), we think we have found four of the best, all based solely on the quality of the food. Our foodie guests visiting the area this week for the first time concur with this assessment. Andrea's consistently serves the best food. Chef Andrea is from Italy, so this chef-owned restaurant is by definition an Italian restaurant. But it's not like the many other Italian restaurants we have enjoyed here and elsewhere. The menu is select, the pastas and breads are fresh, and many ingredients are locally-sourced. Importantly, Chef Andrea prepares every single dish, and it shows in quality, flavor and presentation. It is unlikely you will dine here and not interact with Andrea. He may very well greet you at the door, and at minimum, he will step out of the kitchen to observe how the dishes are being received. This is demonstrated pride in each dish. The wine selection is extensive and the service is exquisite. While the location is non-descript, the restaurant itself is warm and comfortable. BTW, the other three restaurants that we recommend are Indigenous, Selva and Euphemia Haye, all of which compete for the best and require reservations. Enjoy. read more

I have passed by Andrea's for a couple of years, and avoided it since it is in colorless little strip mall whose anchor tenant is the US Post Office. Not very exciting. Ahhhhh. But once you enter the front door, you are in an absolutely wonderful place, filled with a great waitstaff and superb food and wine. A friend and I had a multi-course meal with wine, and it was all a 10 out of 10. The place is well priced, neither inexpensive or exorbitant. But the food-service-atmosphere make it a buy! I tried the veal trio. How cheesy is that???? Three pieces of veal on one plate, each one prepared differently. It sounds like a tourist item that is bound to be terrible. I have THREE GREAT mini veal meals, on one plate. appetizers, wine, you name it. all great! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID -- don't pass it by -- go in and have a great meal!!!! read more

Italian food the way it should be - delicious and fresh. Started with lobster bisque, beef Carpaccio and caprese salad. 5 stars with everything. I wish the lobster bisque had lobster meat in it but it had crab meat. The server told me up front though. Still delish!! Dinner - short ribs, mixed seafood grill (octopus, shrimp, sea bass and snapper), orecchio and sausage, and snapper with a divine red ragu - can't remember the name of the sauce. Everything was incredible. Only ding I can make is that the sides to the mixed grill and the snapper that night was eggplant. Personally I'm not a fan, no matter how its prepared. The service was friendly, attentive and professional and the décor was nice. Low lighting and a little on the modern side but still cozy feeling. Good for a romantic date night or a night out with friends. If you try this place, I'd recommend a reservation, it's a small space. Go and enjoy! read more

When you find yourself in Sarasota, you must try Andrea's. It is an authentic Italian restaurant serving the freshest of ingredients daily. Our experiences there have been first class and it's always a delightful culinary experience too! If you are lucky enuf to meet Andrea, you are in for a treat, but if not, the staff is more than capable and delightfully entertaining. I never order Chicken, but for some reason I decided to try the summer special.... Chicken stuffed with wild mushrooms, fontina cheese, and truffle essence. It was out of this world, and so much so, that I can't stop telling people about it. The Mixed Grill was also exceptional. Give Andrea's a try, you will not be disappointed. read more

Went there the other night for a celebratory dinner. Had a great bottle of wine. Loved the carpaccio 3 ways appetizer. I had the veal saltimboca with Gorgonzola and it was amazing. The veal was very tender and I ended up eating the whole dish. My husband had the rack of lamb and he thought it was one of the best he has ever had. Everyone enjoyed their dishes from the chicken rollatini and the grouper special. Didn't try dessert this time. We were too full but we will definitely be back again. Where to begin..... Andrea is an artist to say the least and Sarasota is lucky to have him. This is our "go to" place for many of our special family occasions. My favorite dishes are his ravioli and rissotto. Both are unique creations every night. I also love his fish preparations of the day. His main menu has wonderful selections too, I just can never get past the daily special choices before I place my order. Quite simply , Andrea's is the best Italian restaurant in the Sarasota vicinity. We have been going there since it opened and have always enjoyed our meals there , whether it is the homemade daily ravioli dishes or the veal Milanese or the quail. Andrea has recently updated his menu and , in my view , has moved the bar even higher. In particular , his 18 oz Steak Fiorentine , served in a skillet with fantastically crispy roast potatoes and sautéed kale , is so good that I have eaten it on each of my last three visits. Andrea really cares about his diners and is always greeted by the people round us as an old friend as he visits the tables . Finally , service really counts here and no review is complete without a mention of Angelo and Eileen , his longstanding front of house team who help to make each meal special. I tried the Summer Menu at Andreas this week. A three course meal for $25 and an extra $5 for a glass of house wine. We were brought out a wonderful varied bread basket with olive tapannad and both regular and spicy olive oil as well as a home made hummus which was very tasty. We were brought a nice amuse bouche of Stilton and blueberry risotto croquettes which were very tasteful and colorful. A guest and myself both enjoyed the soup of the day which was the cream of broccoli which was very much like a grandma's home made soup and very addictive after the first bite. We then got the Eggplant Timbalo which could have used more seasoning. We then had our main course of a Grilled Pork Ribeye and the Ravioli of the Day which was a Four Cheese Ravioli. The Grilled Pork was from a local farm and was very succulent and thick and came with a side of roast potatoes. The ravioli was a bit over cooked and lacked some flavor but was very light which was nice. To finish we had the chocolate mousse which came out very quickly making us believe it wasn't fresh and was not appealing to the eye. All in all, it was a good quality meal to enjoy for a true deal regardless of income level. read more

Chef Andrea created a fabulous five course wine-paired menu for our private party of eight on Saturday evening. Andrea shared is culinary expertise and delicious food treasures imported from Italy. Highlights: Feather light gnocchi pillows, delicate mushroom ravioli laced with truffle oil, flavorful al dente pesto risotto, and an earthy piccata in a divine Demi glacé. My favorite was the appetizer of warm fig stuffed with chèvre surrounded by prosciutto served with a peach chutney. Dessert variety included cannolis, tiramisu, and a scrumptious amaretti mousse. Dining in a private room slightly removed the main dining room, our group was able to make noise without disturbing other patrons. We had outstanding service from Giuseppe and his assistants. Andrea's is the type of restaurant you get when you combine passion, creativity and focus. Everything we have tried, from meats to seafood to pasta has been fresh, original and of course delicious. Appetizers are off the beaten, boring path: lots of interesting choices, and it often pays to pick whatever is offered off menu. Even the olive oil on the table is hard to find and will result in your generous bread plate being emptied. Andrea's passion for food is only matched by his passion for wine. The list is extensive and heavily represented by Italian wines. It is pricey, though. If you don't want a house wine, decent bottles are going to be $60 to $100 (corkage is $25 if you want to bring your own). That said, we've never had wine there that we didn't think was very good. Andrea will gladly suggest a bottle himself, after understanding your planned meal, preferences and budget. And what he suggests may not be on his list. He'll be on the floor when he gets a natural break in the kitchen action, or if he is summoned by the waitstaff to attend to a friend or regular. Even if it is your first visit, chances are good that he will check on you personally. Service is good, not hurried, and very friendly without being overbearing. Plates and glassware are very nice, presentation is top shelf. Andrea's sets the bar at the high end of Sarasota' many Italian restaurants. It would do well in a bigger city than Sarasota, so we are lucky to have it. read more

My fiancé picked this restaurant to celebrate the night of our engagement. Andrea, the owner, called him personally to confirm the reservation. Our table was set up already with champagne ordered by my brother in law. The staff was very excited about the engagement and they were all so friendly and attentive to us. Our waiter filled up our drinks all the time and the appetizers and food were brought out quickly. The food was so delicious. They have a seasonal menu with a lot of options. We ordered cream of asparagus as the appetizers and gnocchi and lasagna, both with bolognese, as the entrees. My fiance's family is Italian and he said the food was very authentic! Andrea, the owner, personally visited our table twice and congratulated us on the engagement. As a gift for the engagement, he gave us a free bottle of wine and two free desserts: a tiramisu and a coffee flavored dessert with a name I can't recall. They were both delicious! My family and friends took me to Andre restaurant for my birthday. From the start the waiter repeatedly interfered with our orders restating numerous times what we could or could not have. The ambiance created by this man was argumentative. And negative. We ordered many dishes with the understood intent to share among the table. We were not given extra plates until we asked and the soup was served in one bowl with six spoons. Ugh.... The food tasted flat and old and I was sick for the next two days with gross abdominal pain. Andrea's, a simple boite of a place, has aspirations to being a four-star restaurant but fails in execution based on my one visit. The servers were cordial, attentive, and food was served promptly, but my chicken sauteed with prosciutto and cheese was dry, almost mummified, and the vegetables served with it were mushy, and overseasoned with harsh-tasting herbs. My husband's grouper seemed tasteless, with the same unattractive vegetables. There was a chocolate mousse for dessert that looked and tasted artificial. Coffee was not hot and was ordinary. That said, the place was crowded with diners who appeared to be enjoying themselves. But there are many better restaurants closer to my home so I doubt I'll return. read more
