Perfect little pop of acidity with other flavors delicately added and perfectly balanced. The oysters Rockefeller were also perfectly delicious. The foie gras is not something I would normally eat, but my boyfriend loves that stuff so we went with it. I enjoyed it more than he did. It was not a classic foie gras, it was smoother with a creamier texture and more buttery flavor. Eating it with the fig jam and "light as clouds" toast made it absolutely delicious! I enjoyed every minute and mouthful--would definitely seek this place out again even though I live an hour away! We enjoyed ourselves too much to take pictures!

It is in the middle of a 125-acre bird sanctuary on the campus of Phillips Academy. It is surrounded by a lovely open field and tall, old trees. The wedding was outside, and there was a distinct area for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The cabin had a bathroom of each type, a small kitchen, and a cute fireplace with an upright piano beside it. But I must admit that the draw here is to the surroundings, and not to the facilities within the cabin, since the bathrooms were unusable half the night due to low water pressure, and the sink was also clogged at one point. But this is definitely a spot where caterers can set up. The air smelled wonderful and fresh, and needless to say, I had a blast. This tucked-away, simple venue was the perfect spot for a low-key wedding.

Complimentary breakfast is standard but fine for what it is. Hotel seems well kept and clean. One tip, if it rains avoid parking in the rear parking lot. A creek runs behind the hotel and when it crested overnight some cars were stuck in deep water... the hotel offered to help retrieve cars so folks wouldn't need to walk through water approaching knee level.
