I'm pleasantly surprised. Came here for dinner when my flight was delayed. I asked the waitress to surprise me between their bolognaise or their Italian wedding soup and caprese salad. She brought the latter. The soup was good and presented in a really cute pot. The caprese was also very good with pesto and a nice presentation. I was here yesterday during my 2-hr layover. We had the meatball appetizer, calamari fritti, hubby had the spaghetti bolognese with Italian sausage, and I had the gnocchi w/ grilled chicken added. The meatball & calamari apps were DELICIOUS!! They were both huge appetizers. My husband's bolognese was good, but nothing to write home about. We both thought the sausage was not good. We both loved the gnocchi I ordered. I would highly recommend the gnocchi with the added chicken. We frequently go to DTW or at least have layovers there. Really good option for airport food. We liked the options, service and seasoning. Service was friendly AND fast. Some places do one but not both. Our waitress was attentive, cordial and had our food ready very quickly. On to the food. I had the chicken ciapatta. Decent size that is good to keep your stomach satisfied and still not extremely overfilling. Chicken was seasoned with olive oil and pesto. Decent fries. We also had Margherita pizza. Good size for one person. A bit salty and it felt it was assembled vs cooked all together. This was our least favorite item. Moma chop salad was good, large and tasty. I usually have hard time to find good places in airports. This place was one of the places that I really enjoyed. I started with a generous portion of Caesar salad which was very fresh and dressing was well prepared and just enough. The lasagna was very tasty and delicious, I really liked it. it was a bummer that the portion was so generous that i couldn't eat it all. The service was pretty good as well. the only downfall was the menu was little bit pricey, but considering the quality and portion of the food and compare to other places it was a very good value. I'll definitely stop there again if i go back to Detroit airport. they have pizza oven in their restaurant as well, and were making very good looking oven bakes pizzas. Andiamo is one of my favorite restaurants in Detroit to go to when visiting so was happy to find one at the airport! I started off with the mushroom soup. The look was off putting but it was absolutely delicious! Probably one of my favorite versions of a mushroom soup I've had. For lunch I ordered the chicken sandwich which came with fries. The chicken sandwich was good but a bit lackluster. The fries on the other hand were very good. I would recommend Andiamo for lunch! It was delicious overall and moderately priced. read more

Food options for layovers at DTW have improved, both in the grab-and-go, made-to-order and sit-down restaurant spheres. From cheap to spendy, you can pretty much find anything along the one mile long A concourse. Today brought me to the sit down Italian-style option, Andiamos. It's located near gate A-30. Several of the tables along the wall have power outlets nearby, but the ones by the window do not. I was greeted by my server who took my drink order (a locally brewed IPA) and when she returned with this $10 pint of beer, I placed my dinner order. Not long after, my meatball appetizer arrived. Served in a small cast iron pan, marinara sauce, shaved parmesan and a big scoop of ricotta cheese with a meatball that was probably a quarter of a pound. A very nice-sized portion. The meatball was hot, the sauce was hot, the cheese was ice cold. An interesting serving option. But yes, it was very tasty. After I'd finished the starter and it was cleared away, the pizza arrived. Very well topped as you can see in the picture, chicken, garlic, mushrooms, artichokes and tomatoes plus fresh cheese. The crust was excellent and the toppings were great. The cheese was pieces of mozzarella rather than shredded which gave it an interesting texture. I don't know if this is something you'd want to take on the plane, but here in the restaurant it was quite tasty and I enjoyed it. Definitely one of the better options at DTW. read more

Extremely bad experience because of the wait staff. Both the male bartender and waitress might've just been in a bad mood the other day. Or this is consistent with who they are and have just never been called on it. Either way, unacceptable treatment. I would strongly advise Andiamo's owners to take a look into both of these individuals. Make sure they don't have biases towards people that don't look like them. I would love to find another reason, but both being in a bad mood seems too coincidental. When other customers witness the treatment, lean over and say "sometimes you need to let people live in their own misery and just wish them the best" it might be time to re-evaluate who you have representing your business. Ordered the margherita pizza and for almost 20 dollars and a small pie, it left a lot to be desired. The ingredients were reasonably fresh tasting, which gets it 2 stars instead of 1. The pizza itself was underdone causing the middle to be all completely soft/floppy and ingredients slide off pizza dough. Also, tomatoes were cut too thick or something because they added to the sogginess with all the juice/seeds from them running all over. read more

When asked, they said the chopped salad was their best salad, and that's what I was hoping they'd say, so I got it. It was good enough, but I've had better. Some of the other plates of food that came out looked much better (and higher in calories) than my chopped salad! Decent service. Nice interior decor. As with all restaurants in the airport, it's not cheap, but the food was really good. I had the butternut squash ravioli and really liked it. Very rarely do I have a long enough layover to have a proper meals so it was nice to sit down and enjoy dinner. I think the wine was overpriced even for airport standards, but if you like Italian you should give this place a try. I would allow 30 minutes to eat here. Tried this spot out as we had a good 2 hour wait before boarding. Plenty of seating and took a spot near the pizza hearth oven. Ended up getting a medium sized (6 slices) Chicken Roma pizza (chicken, spinach, mushrooms, tomato, garlic,mozzarella cheese and artichokes). Not bad at all. Service was fast and friendly. If zero stars was an option believe me I would rate this as such. Van the bartender at the bar/restaurant very much so nasty. I've come to the conclusion she may have issues with BIPOC individuals. Myself and another gentleman who happens to be Brown had an issue that she dismissed however, when it came to other individuals who was at the bar she was all smiles. She accused and individual who purchased another drink from another bar of trying to run off on a tab (he wasn't) and told my cousin who's drink she made wrong that she couldn't remake or offer a refund. I don't think I would look up this Restraurant win the city- Service seems decent ..The WORST PART...we got up to leave ..plane was about to board. We had plenty of time..but it seems as no one wanted to check us out at the cash register..They stated the waiter had to do it..cool ..no problem..but we were standing their for a good minute..but we were ready to go..so we asked again..the big guy greeting people ..walked around yelling for the waiter that attended us in the middle of the dinner floor..he yelled that we were yelling at him.. not true we asked for someone to take out money..the worst part was after I signed and gave a tip..they waiter literally through my credit card back at me..I was so confused .because 1...no one was mad or yelling..we were on time to our flight..we just wanted to pay.. in the picture I am posting is the time of my review and the time of my flight..this will show you that we were not in a hurry.. I could forgive my waiter ...because it was the big guy that instigated the issue with yelling across the room and lying about us yelling at him..asking to be checked out, then maybe 3 min later I asking if anyone else can help is not an attack on you as a person, but a request for customer service. Average wait times and not recommended unless you have over 30 minutes for a layover. The food quality was below average and tasted pretty bland at expensive prices. I visited on a weekday night, and had an hour to spare. My server was a little on the rude side and didn't really help with suggestions for the menu. I ended up ordering this pasta with veal, which costed around $30. I waited around 15 minutes for the food to arrive when the restaurant wasn't as packed, which wasn't too bad. The pasta was fresh and cooked al dente. The veal was another story, and was very bland and chewy. The outer breading had already become soggy and mushy. The green beans served alongside the veal was the opposite story and really salty. The entire plate was drenched with a sea of oil too. I know this is airport food, but I expected better quality for the prices they were charging. read more

We always seem to have 2+ hours every time we connect through Detroit, but that's okay as we are working our way through the restaurants in the McNamera Terminal. This past trip we chose Andiamo. We were quickly seated, drink order was taken, and the drinks came quickly. We opted for their wood fire pizza, which was loaded with everything we love. It was very good and the size was perfect for two people. I'm glad we stopped here and I'll definitely be back on my next layover in Detroit. read more

Upon touching down in Detroit from a week in England, the urge to eat pizza became overwhelming and I needed some immediately. After a check of Yelp, Andiamo's came up as the only option in Terminal A, so that made the choice easy. The pizzas are cooked in a large stone oven that is located within sight of nearly every seat. The crusts come out with a delicious cornstarch and olive oil underside. Flavor was excellent! My only complaint is that I wish the crust was a bit more substantial in the middle as the toppings inevitably fell off the tip of each slice due to its floppiness. I still ate the whole thing. The side salad is also substantial and has a nice mix of veggies, tomatoes, and chickpeas. The menu also features sandwiches and some pastas, but I wasn't craving those, so I don't even really remember reading what they were except for "not pizza." Service was excellent! My server attended my needs from start to finish, making sure that my cup was always full (a challenge at times as I am a generally thirsty person, but after a 9 hour flight, particularly so). read more

We ordered a couple drinks and when the bill came we were charged for doubles we did not order doubles nor did they taste like doubles we asked the waitress why she charged us for doubles when we didn't order them. She then got the manager who proceeded to argue with us and took away our drinks before we could finish them still charging us For those drinks. We almost missed our flight because they wouldn't resolve the issue and even tried to intimidate us by saying they were going to call the sheriff. What pushed this review over to a four star rating was the staff - very nice and friendly, they made my breakfast visit during a layover very pleasant. The coffee was also really decent, which was a blessing. I had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and they were ok. The presentation and smell was really lovely. They were not exactly light and fluffy as advertised, and the ricotta cheese had a grainy texture, but the serving of four pancakes (about 5 inches in diameter) were very filling.
