Had the Consigliere; Sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto, bacon, olives, mushrooms, onion, peppers, mozzarella...minus the mushrooms. Undercooked crust, didn't see much bacon, underwhelming flavor. I have come here plenty of times for drinks, rarely food but have always had a good experience but usually come in afternoon. I came here for breakfast today, ordered at 10:10, breakfast is served until 10:30. I asked the waitress at 10:45 very nicely if she knew an eta, she ran awake quickly and said "idk it's hard because they are changing over to lunch but they are making it". The should end breakfast earlier if it's an issue. Finally got my food a little after 11:00. (50 minutes later). Food was dry, eggs were burnt. Also watched the chef that came in that was working brick oven argue with other staff and then he dropped a whole plate of dough on the floor. A bit shortly after came out with some dough, hopefully not the floor dough but wouldn't doubt it. Took forever to get bill as well. Anytime asked waitress for something she said ok and ran right away and wouldn't let anyone finish their sentences/ requests. All the people in the restaurant were looking at each other like wow this is really not a great experience. Table next to me didn't get their appetizer and had to order a glass of wine twice before it was finally brought. In summary only go here if you have multiple hours. read more

Not bad as far as airport food goes - the lady serving was very nice. A man, on the other hand, came to the table after I finished my meal and was hoping for a refill of tea. He said nothing as he cleared the table, including my glass that'd been empty (luckily the lady came back and offered another tea). The pizza itself was just ok. I did like the flavor of the sauce and crust. It could have used more basil and proper mozzarella, but that didn't detract from the meal too much. Where it missed the mark was the crust felt "doughy" in some areas, which tells me the oven wasn't hot enough. Margherita pizzas should have a soft yet crisp crust. These small changes could make an ok pizza a great one. read more

My Mr and I were looking for a place to dine in early in the morning before our flight. We stumbled on this place. I wouldn't have mind to have pizza for breakfast but unfortunately they weren't serving it at the time. You seat yourself. It wasn't busy so it was nice and quiet. My Mr ordered the breakfast scramble (scrambled eggs with spinach, mushrooms, bacon, mozzarella cheese with potatoes on the bottom) and I ordered the Tuscan breakfast comes with 2 eggs (I got it scrambled topped with cheddar cheese which was an extra charge), 2 pieces of bacon, 1 sausage, ciabatta bread and new potatoes. We got our meals less than 15 minutes. It hit the spot. The potatoes and eggs were perfect. The bread was also fresh. I tried a bite of my Mr's breakfast and it was really good! Mostly positive. I showed up a little before 10 for breakfast, and the waitress warned me and another table as we were ordering that they were winding down breakfast service to end at 10:30. Which was fine, I ordered right around 10, but when it got to be 10:20 and I hadn't seen my waitress in a few minutes, I was starting to worry that they'd forgot my order and I wouldn't be able to get it before breakfast ended... but shortly after that my food came out. It was a slightly longer wait than I expected, but I don't go to a sit-down restaurant in an airport when I'm in a hurry, so not a big deal. The limoncello French toast was actually very good. I appreciated that they had something a little unique and in keeping with the Italian theme on the breakfast menu. The bread kind of looked like sandwich bread, and maybe it was, but it was better than it looked, and the limoncello mascarpone was delicious. It could've used more berries. Berries were scarce on one slice and the other side had plenty of blueberries but not many strawberry pieces. My main complaint was that the two pieces of sandwich-sized toast were $17. I account for airport inflation when I give ratings but this was still more expensive than I would have expected even in this context. I also had a pineapple ginger cooler to drink, a mocktail with agave, pineapple and ginger juices, and soda water. Pretty good, and nice presentation garnished with a few pieces of candied ginger. Also expensive for what it was at $12. Further pushing the airport inflation, the suggested tips on the receipt and machine were 20%, 22%, and 24%. Delusional options anywhere, let alone an airport. You do have the option to put in your own tip so they're not exactly forcing you to tip that high, but preying on the people who don't pay attention and just press the low middle or high button. The place is classy and kept clean. My waitress was very polite and, while the food took a little long, I didn't have to wait around for her to bring the card reader to me to pay, so it was expedient getting out after I'd finished eating. read more

A quick search of the Detroit airport showed that many called it one of the best airports for food! It's the first airport I've ever seen a PF Changs in, so already, that was something else! There are a lot of options from fast food to fine dining. Andiamo would fall into the $$$ category. Although still relatively casual, it had heftier prices for a sit down dining experience. I ordered the spaghetti. It was simple and nothing special, but it was honestly everything I wanted to put me into a little carboload coma before passing out on my flight home. My friend ordered the caesar salad which was pretty much just lettuce, so that's something I'd steer clear of. Service was great though and appreciated the friendly and attentive staff! read more

I asked to sub something in my meal while ordering, and my waiter said yes and didn't let me know that it was an additional charge to my meal. I didn't know until I got the check and when I kindly confronted the waiter about it he said he was going to ask his manager if he could remove it from the tab. He later came back saying "my manager is on the other side of the airport" and he never refunded me the item. My lady and I were on a layover in Detroit, feeling pretty hungry, when we passed by this spot and thought it looked pretty good. Glad we stopped for a bite because it really WAS good. Though the spot is known more for pizza, we were there during breakfast time, and their breakfast definitely hit the spot. Our server was very friendly and attentive and greeted us as soon as we sat down. Their breakfast menu is pretty nice and features classic options. My lady opted for the classic Tuscan breakfast and I had a breakfast scramble (bacon, spinach, mushrooms, and mozzarella). We hardly waited long at all before everything was ready and very tasty. If we're ever here again, we'll probably stop by again, hopefully during lunch hours so we can try the pizza. read more

We ordered two chicken ciabatta sandwich and one came without the pesto, onion, and cheese. The other came with the toppings but the chicken was completely raw! Luckily the sandwich comes sliced so we were able to see how raw the chicken was. Also these sandwiches were $20 each (reasonable at an airport I suppose) and they didn't offer to compensate for the raw meat or offer any type of retribution. Flew to New Jersey Sunday. Flew from New Jersey to Michigan Tuesday night. Was on a plane back to SFO Wednesday night. It was rough. I wasn't able to sleep and had to cope w/ the humidity. So glad to come across this restaurant. I was hungry since I didn't get to eat that day. I follow the Buddhist Lunar calendar and wanted to stick to not eating meat Wednesday/Thursday. I skimmed the menu and found what I could order. My server was a delight. The Caesar Salad was good; fresh! The ravioli was filling and so creamy. That meal lasted me till I got home. My diet soda was refilled. I didn't have to ask for anything. I was skeptical because airport eats are usually abysmal, but I had a good time and would definitely stop by next time I fly back from DTW. read more

You're in the airport, it's a lawless place, and food is always going to be more expensive because you're basically trapped. DTW....honestly the Subway in terminal A is the restaurant to beat. A 6:30 am Turkey sub still has me dreaming about that subway...but the Subway wasn't near where I was. It seems this section between gates 30 and 20 just has some dismal dining options. So I decided to just suck it up and do some Italian in the airport because why not? You get there and you can seat yourself. The menu is not extensive but okay. I was torn between the pizza and the ravioli. I chose the ravioli and I have to say it was pretty good. They do claim to make their own noodles. My server really didn't have much to do with me. Maybe because I didn't order a drink?? My service was super mediocre. This place does not offer complimentary bread. They have a bread basket for purchase. I had to ask for it. That could have been an easy upsell. The rolls were pretty good they were crusty and a little dry. They have been doused in olive oil a little bit of cracked pepper, and I think cornmeal. They were messy and the butter was rock hard, not spreadable at all. You get four rolls for $7.50 ish... They offer two desserts...cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake or tuxedo cake probably the same cake that you can find at Olive Garden. The server just slapped my check down and okay...guess I'm not having dessert... She didn't ask me if I wanted any. That's money out of your pocket...and the restaurants bottom line. It also holds up to other places outside airports too. I lived in Sicily for three years, which makes me a pizza expert of sorts. I was hoping Andiamo would be able to provide a half-decent meal, but aside from the sausage fagiole soup, the meal was dreadful. The calamari fritti was greasy, improperly cooked, disgusting. The lasagna bolognese looked like someone defecated on the plate, taste was horrible, no balance, no salt, overwhelmingly sweet and a strong bitterness. We sent it back for the pizza, and the pizza was so cloyingly sweet -- it reminded me of Pizza Hut but small, overpriced, and worse. Stay clear of this place like the plague, horrible experience. We were recommended this restaurant from a guy who sat next to us on the plane. We are so happy we came in. This place had the healthiest options out of all the airport food we passed by. During a recent layover, I needed some dinner and was happy to find Andiamo right near my gate. Quick tip: If there's no one occupying the host station, then it's a seat yourself situation. Myself and others stood there for a bit before someone told us. That said, upon being seated, my order was taken swiftly. I got their caesar salad with salmon added. The caesar itself was delish but the salmon was just ok. I also ordered an old fashioned, which was pitch perfect (not too sweet, plenty of bourbon kick). Both my beverage and food orders came out quickly (important in an airport restaurant) and my server was lovely. Prices were high, but, hey, it's an airport restaurant--aren't they always? read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE!!! The waitress slyly added a 22% unauthorized tip by reaching around the pay screen and tapping a tip button. I protested. She did not apologize and rudely said she would have to get a manager to help. She slow-walked getting the manager - it took over 15 minutes. Fortunately, I was early for my flight. When the manager finally arrived, he entered the transaction yet again, without the tip, and with no credit for the original transaction. I protested on the spot. He refused to issue a credit, claiming that it was "automatic". Well, it was not. They double charged me. There was no credit on my credit card statement. I am having to protest the charge through my credit card company. These people are crooks! They are obviously used to customers who don't check their receipts or credit card statements. It's warm. The ambience is great. The food was delicious and affordable. I have a three hour layover to LAX. I need a place to sit and chill. This is the place I decided. To top it, my server TRANG is super super cool and funny ok good looking, caring, inviting, very knowledgeable. She makes me and everybody else in this place feel very welcome. Give her a raise. I ordered frutti de Mare. The pasta came very hard, poorly cooked. I asked them to redo it. However, they made me wait an hour and it came back even worse. The pasta was still hard and sauce had no taste at all. It is supposed to have scallop but there were none. This dish costs 51$ and they think it is fine without scallop??? The chef has no attitude. If they cannot remake it, they should be honest rather than making us wait for an hour and gave us the worse dish than the first one. This restaurant is a scam. read more
