I appreciated seeing no, meat and other non-vegetarian items in the menu. We ordered Bada with Sambhar and Rava Dosa along with a Mysore masala Dosa. Sambhar was extremely yummy and right combination of spices and not too spicy. Additionally, the tomato Chutney and the Coconut Chutney was very very fresh and yummy. Everything went well together. I also like that the potato filling was served on the side and not inside my Dosa, so I could control the quantity I would consume. We closed our lunch with a cup of tea. It was little strong and over boiled for my taste, but I liked the warmth of it. Overall, this is a good place to hang out with your friends or kids, and there is something for everyone on the menu. Next time I'm gonna go and try their platter which comes with Dosa Idly and Kesari Bhat and chole poori which is my way to test how good a place is ... for now I will give this place a 4 star Our server was very polite, attentive, and made the check out super easy for me

Beware of the high yelp rating!…read more We were starving and excited to try this place after a couple hour hike at Umstead yesterday. We LOVE northern Indian and Nepalese food and were lured by the high yelp rating. I'll start with the good. The server was kind and efficient. The chili chicken momo were delicious. The rice and garlic naan were average to good as well. However, our butter chicken and our chicken korma tasted like nothing. It was very strange. There was texture and you could kind of taste the chicken itself but the sauces tasted like nothing. You could almost only tell the two apart based on color and texture. We ordered one of them medium spice and one mild. Even the medium spiced dish had zero flavor. I kind of thought to myself that something was off when the colors looked bright but we couldn't taste a thing. I kept thinking maybe the flavor or heat will build. It never did. Nevertheless we ate everything bc we were starving, but we were definitely disappointed in the lack of flavor. Not long after we left, our stomachs were kind of on edge but we figured this was simply from eating too much. This morning we both woke up ILL. Even though we discussed coming back for the chili momo only in the future, we have since changed our tune. I love locally-owned businesses and hate to leave a bad review but we truly did not have a 4+ star experience here. We won't be back.

I got to try all the things I was curious about but wouldn't order a full serving of. Also, having bottomless Naan is such a bonus. I prefer Naan over rice with Indian food, so I was in heaven! The Chicken Vindaloo was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. The spice level of the Vindaloo curry was just to my liking. I didn't think the Dal Makhani was spicy enough, but that is expected at a buffet. The Baba Ghanoush was fresh and worked as a palate cleanser. I tried Saag Paneer (cheese cooked in creamy spinach sauce) for the first time and I really liked it! I then filled up on my favorites: Chicken Vindaloo and Naan. I tried one bite of 3 different deserts after that, and they were all unique and pretty sweet. I think the Rice Pudding was my favorite flavor but the Vanilla Rice Pudding was my favorite texture. We came hungry and left satisfied (or stuffed). I can't wait to come back and try more new things!

My friend ordered the chili shrimp (decent but not spicy) and what looked like the Indian version of chicken fajitas, and that was equally as tasty. All in all it was way more upscale than I expected and the portion sizes were variable. Great place to get a late dinner on a Friday night tho!! It has a very pretty, aesthetically pleasing, romantic atmosphere.

In general, I've had solid experiences here, but I'd say the quality of the food isn't quite as good as some of the other Indian restaurants in the area. But I still saw fit to buy a dish as a single, a South Indian stew I hadn't seen before with tons of spices and a mix of dried berries. It was pretty out there, but the distinctive tangy and spicy combination that often comes with Tamil cuisine was much appreciated. My dal came with gongura leaves, a distinct and bitter vegetable that is probably good for you and does make for an interesting flavor in combination. Despite being billed as a two for one, my overall price to portion size on this order was okay but not great; the price for that one dal was high enough to make it so. While waiting, I saw some shakes in a fridge with some low-quality ice cream stored behind them, and was glad I didn't indulge, as I'd expect either something local or something imported. The quality of some of their core food items I suspect is higher. Most people were getting takeout, although there was a substantial dining area, one which could have been cleaner.
