Our neighbors had had great service from Fremont Heating & Air Conditioning and recommended we give them a call. John Fremont was able to come out the next day. Although he concurred with some of the problems the previous company saw, we felt he took a much less rash approach to the situation. We did end up replacing the heater (at a much lower cost) because the most expensive part needed replacing and the heater was over 15 years old. But the A/C only needed a $20 part replaced and it was good to go. The work was done quickly and professionally and we couldn't be happier. When that A/C does decide to give up the ghost, we'll be calling Fremon Heating & Air Conditioning to do the replacement job.

Given my track record with service pros, I decided to just tackle it myself. Fast forward to last night: I woke up at 3am in a panic wondering if I'd done it all wrong and convinced we would die from carbon monoxide poisoning. This morning I called SOS Heating and Cooling, and honestly, this is the kind of service that reminds you good people still exist in this industry. Jake came out the same day. He actually listened to my concerns instead of talking over me. I was fed up with the company recommended by our home insurance carrier after three winters of our furnace out more than it was working, while being nickel&dimed to death, being stood up, shamed, and literally shouted at by that company... so I got a second opinion and was horrified to learn our furnace had a crack in the heat exchanger and for our safety the gas had to be shut off. The original company said they'd be back in *three weeks* to give us a quote. With freezing weather approaching, and me with a serious heart condition I was DONE! I reached out to Absolute Comfort and got a response immediately. When Carrie learned our circumstances, she offered to have someone come out that very night. I deeply appreciate her compassionate understanding. Kristopher came and evaluated the broken furnace, took measurements and assessed the situation, explained the options and made recommendations for getting the best airflow and performance for both heating and cooling in our home. It showed that he really had listened to our family's needs and concerns. We deeply appreciate Kristopher's integrity and honesty. To our recollection we have never posted a negative review, but our experience with Blue Best…read morewarrants one. We met with Blue Best late in 2024 to discuss our concern with air temps in our house, specifically temps in our living room and kitchen, which have high ceilings and southern exposure and become uncomfortably hot in summer. We were very clear about our concern, and the salesperson spent hours assessing our home and assured us his proposed system would solve the problem. We accepted the ~$14,000 bid to install a heat pump solution based on that assurance. By summer 2025, the living room and kitchen were still too hot on most sunny days. Despite many service visits and repeated adjustments (baffles, registers, fan speeds, etc.), the issue was never resolved. Blue Best ultimately stated the system was operating as designed and implied the problem was with our home, not their installation.  In our opinion, Blue Best is very good at selling a solution, but not so good at ensuring that solution meets what the customer needs. Two independent HVAC contractors opined: -Our ductwork is in good condition. -The thermostat, furnace, and compressor Blue Best installed were not properly matched. -Basic industry-standard load calculations (e.g., Manual J) were apparently not done, which would have shown the system was undersized for our home's layout, windows, and sun exposure. Blue Best has declined to remove the system or refund our payment, instead relying on fine print in the contract. We are now pursuing legal options. We have since spent ~$12,000 on a mini-split system from another contractor, which works as intended. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Blue Best and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.
