I have to say, I was surprised how good the food here was despite being a smaller addition to the Buffalo Airport. I ordered the spicy bbq chicken fingers with seasoned french fries to go before my flight left. It was a little on the pricy side, but not too bad for an airport overall. The fingers were good and saucy and the fries were seasoned very well. My to go order only took about 10-15 minutes so it was perfect while waiting to leave. I'd eat here again on my way out of Buffalo, and I think it's kind of fun for non-locals to have a chance to try a Buffalo original restaurant if they haven't had an opportunity to try the original downtown. read more

When I think of my anchor bar experience, I think of the expression "it is what it is". They turn out massive amounts of chicken wings for sure. The jukebox plays great music and the place is a dive bar at best. Buffalo certainly boasts a lot of pride with their chicken wings. I was delighted to learn that I could order all flats as that is my preference. Frankly, I don't see what all the fuss is about with the anchor bar. That said , I do remember licking the yummy buttery hot sauce. The odd thing is that on the way out of town in the airport there is an "Anchor Bar". My husband and I found ourselves sitting down for one last try. Oddly enough the Anchor Bar in the airport served really Meaty delicious chicken wings. The best I've had in Buffalo. The server there was amazing friendly and speedy. I don't typically rate restaurants in airports as I've never really found much success in dining at these types of Restaurants. The anchor bar in the Buffalo air port is an exception to my rule. Call me crazy, but I liked the Anchor Bar food in the airport better than the actual original restaurant. The atmosphere is unmemorable of course, and does not compete with the atmosphere at the original Anchor Bar. That spot is much more eclectic, fun and reminiscent of a good old college town dive bar. Get them extra crispy if you order them to go, and then they won't be soggy. Sooooo soooo good. The service here is super friendly and extremely fast and efficient. They knew I was taking the wings on the plane to eat a little later, so they sealed them all up to keep them warm. Nice added touch. And they are just so good. Nothing like Buffalo wings in Buffalo. For an airport bar/restaurant, this was pretty decent. Not only did I get to partake in those delicious wings one more time, but I got to kick back with a brew or two while waiting for my flight. A few detractors, however, as most airport joints have: * The service was pretty fast, but don't count on the team to be anything other than 'Buffalo gruff.' Comes with the territory I'm sure. If you've a thick skin, you'll be fine. * The barstools are anything but comfortable, and there is no place for your baggage while you site and wait. Park it at a table and you should be fine. * Prices are elevated, but not as much as you'd expected. A 'tall' beer only runs $8.50 and a short is $6.50. Pretty good for an airport bar. Otherwise, it's all positives: * Great wings! Very similar (if not identical) to the originals down on Main Street. Saucy, spicy, crunchy, savory... just delicious. * Great beer! They have a pretty decent selection, including Labatt Blue and Blue Light for the Canadian in us all. * Decent menu. If wings aren't your thing, they have a pretty good menu for variety. The dude next to me ordered their coconut shrimp, and I was surprised by the size and quantity (both above average). * Again, fast service, with that great Buffalo attitude. Poor food high prices. Our waiter was excellent, the chef must have been on a smoke break. The wings were dry and overcooked. The chicken fingers were overcooked and dark brown, but they served them anyway. The cheeseburger was overcooked. Beer was $12 a can. Pass this bar up. read more

i didn't get any time in Buffalo ...we actually stayed on the Canada side of Niagara...but i was told that Anchor Bar is where the Buffalo wing was first made. Not at the airport location...but at their original spot. I guess this is the next best thing. hostess was lame and should be fired...she had a really bad attitude and was rude to not only us but seemed to hate her coworkers also... our server was the opposite...she was super nice and friendly. when she went on break we cashed out with her and she introduced our new server to us...who was friendly but he never returned...not even to clear the mound of empty plates....so service is not their thing here.. we 2 orders of 10 wings... tried 4 different flavors chipotle BBQ-good but didn't really taste chipotle hot- it was good but wasn't at all spicy medium- nice flavor mild -for the kids...i took a bite...i was good with one bite. i'm glad i tried the wings...but i think i can get much better wings in san diego...in fact i could probably make better wings myself =) read more

In asking the question: Duffs or Anchor Bar for best wings in Buffalo - this round goes to Anchor Bar! I had the pleasure of eating at both locations during a recent work trip and while both had great wings, Anchor Bar delivered on the whole experience. Anchor Bar wings are crispy and flavorful. Just the right amount of sauce covering the wings. I like my wings coated but not drenched and that's exactly how they were. Served with perfectly cut, green celery and thick, flavorful blue cheese dipping sauce. What really put Anchor Bar over the top for me was the service. I was seated and brought water immediately. Once I ordered my wings were brought out in about 5 minutes but they tasted warm and fresh. I was worried they were sitting for a long time but they didn't have a stale taste. I was blown away because it really allowed me to enjoy them without rushing before my flight! Keep in mind this is an airport location of Anchor Bar, not the true location, so the experiences are very different. We sat down and took a look at the menu, but there were no prices listed for the wines. They definitely do that for a reason, as most wines were $13 and higher for a glass (none of which were high quality wines). They asked if I wanted a 9 oz which unfortunately, brought my total for wine to $20+/glass. Wine aside, my friend and I ordered salads as our meals with chicken on them. Mine was fine (nothing notable) while my friend ended up with my salad instead of her choice. It wasn't a huge deal and she didn't say anything, but the service was lacking a bit. If you're in Buffalo and have time, definitely check out the real Anchor Bar or Duffs (my personal fav), but this isn't terrible for an airport restaurant, just a bit expensive for wine :) read more

Terrible customer service here. We were driving through and have been a customer here for years and were excited to get the classic wings. We sat on hold for 40 minutes trying to place an order to go (due to COVID), and when we finally arrived I walked in hearing the phone ringing and everyone just standing around. We got there 30 minutes before they closed and they refused to take our order because "the kitchen was closed." When I told them we had tried calling in they said their phones were broken...clearly wasn't true. I never give 1 star reviews, but I was very unimpressed with this place. After checking out Duff's wings - we wanted to check out the Anchor Bar wings too. I wish we could have gone to their regular downtown Buffalo location - but this would have to suffice for now. We stopped in before heading to our gate for our flight home. I ordered 10 wings with their "Hot" level of sauce - with a side of the hot sauce to dip, along with the Blue Cheese. We advised our server of our time constraint - she assured us they would have the wings out to us in time to eat. The wings did come quickly. They were very tasty, large, and meaty. And they had a nice level of crispness to them. Mine were cooked perfectly. However, as at Duff's - their definition of "Hot" differs from mine. While I did enjoy the wings - I would not define them as hot from a spice perspective. I'll have to try whatever is the next heat level up next time. The Anchor Bar on Main Street in Buffalo is where "Buffalo Chicken Wings" had its beginning, and though I'm dating myself, I've had the original wings there as were prepared by creator Teressa Bellissimo back in the early 60's, and for what it's worth, the wings served here today don't even begin to compare. The taste is similar but the wings I had were scrawny little things lacking both in meat moisture as well as having a quality of crispness of skin; also expensive for what you get. Basically this is an airport bar serving up weak overpriced cocktails with substandard services to hungry travels tapped between the security gates having little choice in available bars and restaurants. read more
