I posted on the Worth Homepage what had happened to see if anyone received it by accident. Tara and Amanda from Style Lounge responded immediately and offered for me to come in and they would donate a wig for me free of charge. They were so kind and understanding. They found me the perfect wig. This is the first time I met them and they treated me like part of the family. I am so grateful especially cause I'm on a strict budget and don't have extra money. I will definitely being going back for any of my hair needs. They are both Angels and I can't thank them enough.

I might have put off getting my hair care for a bit, and she was able to work her magic and revive my hair. She also made great suggestions about the Olaplex treatment, which my hair needed. I'd recommend Tara to anyone in the area looking for a hairstylist. There's also plenty of free parking in the back of the salon. I also love that they take Zelle, Venmo etc, which makes it so easy to settle the tab. They're also on Vagaro, which made it super easy to book a time -- the software can be a bit clunky. However I love that they honor the appointment time and Tara was ready for me.

I came in after another stylist had to leave mid-balayage, leaving my hair partially bleached with foils. I called ahead, and a stylist (I believe Beatrice) said she could help. However, when I arrived, she seemed to misunderstand my situation. After seeing my hair and the reference photos, she recommended a caramel toner. The toner took about 15 minutes, and after styling, she told me my hair looked "luminous" and "lovely." In reality, it was very patchy with visible spotting and looked nothing like what I asked for. When I pointed this out, she blamed the previous stylist, which I understand--but she still chose the solution and reassured me it would work. She then suggested trying a darker toner, even though the first one barely made a difference. I felt like my main concern--looking good for my wedding--was not being taken seriously. Instead of honesty or a realistic fix, I felt dismissed. I ended up going somewhere else to correct my hair. Overall, I left feeling frustrated and without confidence in the service.

So I really wanted to like this place. Especially since its black owned and I want to support the…read moreefforts of the underdog in the business world. With that said, let's start at the beginning. From what I can see, the downfall of this place is the customer service. Management needs to make sure that the people working there have some aspect of what true costumer service means. The people who should be picking up the phone are NOT picking up the phone and when they do - they aren't 'smiling' while they speak. Someone has said once to me, call back in an hour or 'hold on' and I was put on hold for 12 minutes before I hung up and tried again, with no answer! Today the woman at the front desk let the phone go to voicemail 3 times while I was standing there waiting for my appointment - was she busy you ask? NO, she was shopping for shoes online! The phone should NEVER go unanswered, that's clients/business calling on the other end! With 5 employees present, the phone should never go unanswered! Well today, I get there on time for my appointment and I'm made to wait while I can clearly see my technician talking to another tech in the hallway. Another thing, which just happened right now as I am typing this, the tech should not be picking up their cell phone while filing my toe nails or what happened during my pedi last time, the tech walking away to pick up the phone while in mid filing. Or the way they dress: sweats, T-shirts and flip flops sometimes dirty - they should dress according to the type of clientele they want to attract. With all the walkaways from my technicians (both times) my Mani/pedi has taken over 2 hours. It should under NO circumstances take that long! Here I am again waiting for my technician to return. The shitty thing is that I've met the owner and she seems really awesome and customer service minded. I don't understand why she doesn't demand the same from her staff. There should be rules, no phones while with a client, no visitors while with a client (yes my tech just had someone visit and stepped away for a moment), no letting the phone go unanswered, no walking away from clients, treat clients well, talk to clients (its been about 25 minutes and my tech still hasn't given me a name! One more thing: you need to demand that your staff clean the salon thoroughly and the stained towels should be thrown away - that's just nasty - use paper towels when painting nails so the towels don't get stained. I shouldn't have to ask for a clean towel every time I'm here! ...which unfortunately, today will be the last time I'm here. Marcia, I wish you and your business well.

I took a break from getting my lashes done and went back about three weeks ago. My appointment was originally scheduled for 11AM and she didn't see me until 11:45. Not because someone was in front of me but because Barbara was late. I was going to Vegas so I waited it out. She was able to finish my left eye and when working on my right, her next appointment came. When I left everything looked satisfactory. When I was in Vegas (washed around my eyes) my right lashes were falling off 5-10 at a time, almost immediately. Mind you, I hadn't been swimming or sweating yet. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and booked for TODAY at 11AM to get them filled. She texted me early morning and pushed my appointment back TWICE by and hour and a half. When I showed up, two minutes early, she informed me she was running late AGAIN. I gave her until 12:45PM and she was still a no show. I texted her to inform her I left as it was unprofessional on her part. I have received no acknowledgement of being sorry or anything like that. I'm all for supporting black businesses in my community but when you treat your clients like they're trash then I run into a problem. Even a common courtesy of "Im sorry" would have led me to book in the future. She's not worth the time OR money.

A Girls' Self-Care Day That Exceeded Our Expectations…read more If you have read my reviews you know that I take being Yelp Elite seriously and want you to feel my TRUE experiences... don't just hand out five-star reviews. I rely on Yelp whenever I travel, and I know firsthand how much honest, detailed reviews help people decide where to spend their time and money. So let's jump in! I'm visiting from Washington, DC, and wanted to treat myself, my mom, and my sister to a girls' self-care day. This wasn't a random pick. My sister has been to Luxx several times before and has always had good experiences, so she suggested we spend the day here together. I'm so glad she did. We arrived later in the evening and were told there would be about a 40-minute wait. Normally that might be frustrating, but David, who was managing the front desk (and honestly seemed to be the heartbeat of the salon), immediately greeted us, explained the wait time, and kept everyone informed. That simple communication made all the difference. We'd much rather know what to expect than be left wondering. While we waited, we enjoyed complimentary mimosas with a choice of orange juice or strawberry lemonade, along with snacks. Let me just say...the strawberry lemonade mimosa deserves its own five-star review! All three of us chose it, and thanks to David, our glasses never stayed empty for long. His hospitality, professionalism, and attentiveness truly set the tone for the entire visit. One thing we immediately noticed was how peaceful the salon felt. There wasn't a lot of loud conversation or unnecessary commotion. The technicians were focused on their clients, and guests were relaxing with their drinks, watching television, or quietly enjoying their own space. It felt like a genuine self-care experience rather than a rushed appointment. I typically wear Gel-X nails, which they don't offer, so I had my Gel-X soaked off and opted for a nude dip powder full set instead. Lynn absolutely understood the assignment. My nails are beautifully shaped, clean, natural-looking, and exactly what I envisioned. My sister also had a full set done by Lynn, and her nails turned out just as beautiful. We both left extremely happy. Daisy took care of my pedicure and was wonderful. She even noticed one of my toenails had smudged after I moved over for my manicure and fixed it immediately without hesitation. Unfortunately, that same nail ended up getting smudged again later, but that certainly wasn't due to anything Daisy did. She was attentive, patient, and thorough throughout the service. My mom had a fill-in with Eric and a relaxing pedicure with Candy, and she couldn't stop talking about how much she enjoyed both services. Seeing all three of us leave smiling made the day even more special. When I looked up the establishment on here I noticed there was only one Yelp review and it was a one-star review. I'll admit, I paused for a moment because reviews matter. Thankfully, my sister's recommendation was a GREAT one. Based on our experience, it's hard to believe we visited the same salon. Every business can have an off day, and perhaps that's what happened during that person's visit. All I can speak to is our experience, and from start to finish, it was exceptional. A special thank-you to David. Great customer service isn't just about checking people in--it's about creating an experience. He kept everything running smoothly, communicated clearly, made sure guests felt welcomed, and somehow managed to keep the strawberry lemonade mimosas flowing with a smile the entire time. He deserves to be recognized because he truly elevated our visit. We'll absolutely be back before I head home to Washington, DC. Luxx gave the three of us exactly what we were looking for: quality work, a relaxing atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and a memorable girls' day together. Five well-earned stars from this Yelp Elite reviewer.
