We told them up front we couldn't buy, that we were obligated to work with someone else, and we just wanted to look around. They were undeterred! They took an active interest in our project, gave us design ideas and seemed genuinely interested in our project, not our money. We ended up asking our builder if we could switch to Design 1, and we are very happy we did. They are a little pricier, but well worth it if you are a fish out of water when it comes to designing a new or remodeled kitchen. Beusha & Kaitlin were especially helpful.

We worked with Design 1 for our kitchen and 3 bathrooms. Kaytlyn (no longer with Design 1) provided…read moregreat design services, but Design 1's business practices are unacceptable. We were very clear that we were phasing the work, and they very carefully coordinated timelines for ordering the custom cabinets in the first phase of our work. Because of this close coordination for the first phase, we assumed they would do the same for the remainder of the project, but they then ordered everything else a year before we needed it, without notifying us. We didn't even know they had ordered everything a year in advance until they billed us $265 for the storage fees. (Apparently they need to nickel and dime you even if you're spending almost $150,000 with them). Then, after Kaytlyn left Design 1, we requested delivery of material for the current phase, and they tried to overcharge us by $9,970.61, citing invoices we had paid 6 months prior. It is unclear whether they are having financial issues, have poor accounting practices, or are simply dishonest. Whatever the cause, good design without equally good business practices is unacceptable. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

I live in a historical neighborhood on top of it all, so I needed help navigating a historical application review and qualifications for making historically appropriate updates to my home, and permitting. I sourced 8 companies for this project and while 5 of them were competitive on pricing, I chose Rite Window specifically because of Jay. The product options were explained to me, including custom option opportunities, in detail that I could understand. I felt Jay help educate me just enough to help me feel informed enough to make decisions on a financially expensive project. Every question I had was happily received and quickly addressed. Jay was even willing to go the extra mile and send me a sample product, as well as help me present to the historical society, so they would approve my project, when the odds were not in my favor. I sourced Rite Window because they had good reviews, like some of the other Boston area competitors. I narrowed my search based on their pricing and product quality, but I chosen them because of Jay's attention to detail, consistent communication and professionalism. Jay is truly proud of the organization he works with, and I hope they know just how valuable he is. Thank you Jay, and thank you Rite Window. I will be sending neighbor referrals your way, and you have my business for life.

I lived with it for a while as it would open after jiggling it a little. Recently, it got worse, so I called Ace to come and look at it. When the tech got here, he said they "don't fix that" but he could replace it the doorknob. He was here for maybe a half hour total and installed a new $40 doorknob. I was charged $307 dollars. Apparently, I was charged $90 just for the guy to drive here and $175/hr (one our minimum). I found this to be absolutely outrageous, especially given the fact that I didn't have a problem until Ace re-keyed my locks. I will never use them again and I strongly suggest that you don't either. It's no wonder people can't afford to live when business screw people like this. Disgusting.
