Italian food today. This restaurant is located in the middle of Pinecrest. It is also a market and wine cellar. It is small, quaint and very cute. The food was very traditional, fresh and delicious; especially the eggplant parmigiana, the meatballs and the cannolis. First off, the Anacapri restaurant is NOT like the market. The market is Italian authentic with its long list of wines, pastas, and knick-knacks; think Epcot Italy on steroids. Now about the restaurant. Something happens aesthetically when you step in here as it is sectioned off from the market. The magic seen in the market side just seemed to dissolve into a cheap and outdated blandness that went from Epcot Italy to Santa's Enchanted Forest. Thankfully, the lighting was adequate although the atmosphere was dark for reasons I'll get into shortly. First impressions aside, we decided to give the food a go. For the official record, this was a lunch. The service was adequate and cordial, our waiter answered whatever questions we had, yet never really gave us a first-time overview of what the place had to offer, local favorites, or pairings. But let's be fair, this isn't a 3- Star Michelin restaurant and there was somewhat of a language barrier and no, it wasn't Italian. Regardless, they do their best to serve. We ordered two versions of a the seafood concoction Malefemmina, one with the white wine sauce and the other with a marinara. These were preceded by a house salad combined with a mozzarella salad as well. As we waited we enjoyed a good beer, that is until my wife began complaining of a gnat that wouldn't stop dive-bombing at her bread. Admittedly, I didn't believe her until I saw it myself which is a telltale sign of cleanliness issues in the kitchen. Shortly after, the salads arrived. Unfortunately, these looked nothing more than run-of-the-mill salads with nothing to accentuate taste or texture. Our main courses arrived only to discover the kitchen accidentally prepared both as tomato broth dishes instead of the white wine sauce we ordered for the one or anything resembling marinara. I will mention our waiter tried to make up for the mistake with a free refill on the beers which was a nice touch on his part. Both dishes were also bland and boring, like a low-sodium Campbell's soup, although those are better. The wife had ordered her plate with the linguini which unfortunately got lost in the soupy broth which splashed with every bite. Already irritated with all of this , the nail in the coffin occurred when I noticed a gnat INSIDE, yes INSIDE, the bottle of olive oil I had been dousing my food with. I made mention of this to the head waiter and he simply took the bottle and never replaced it mor offered an apology. Gladly, the debacle came to an end. We were walking out, and please, I have to preface this by telling you that I'm NOT exaggerating or embellishing here, a small RAT jumped out and ran over her feet as we entered our car. I nearly shot the tomato broth out my backside when she screamed out. That said, here's another clear sign of cleanliness issues although in fairness, the location has about ten eateries in the mall space. Honestly,I was looking forward to this after driving by the location for many, many years and wish it would've worked. But this turned out like that date from hell one would rather forget. I still plan on visiting the market. The wine selection is insane which gives me some degree of hope. read more

Service is their statement as all employees appeared to be very attentive with all customers. I wish the setting was a bit different as a few tables are too close to enjoy social distancing (Small location but inviting). This place is a hidden gem in Pinecrest. It's a trattoria serving good pasta at affordable prices. Don't expect an elegant setup, it's a trattoria, but they have live music over the weekend. This place is having a resurgence and I'm here for it! The food and friendliness are GREAT. We had an absolutely delicious Italian meal here. Shrimp Francese was a perfectly lemony and the Eggplant Rollatini was rich, hearty and not to be missed. I think i would consider myself a "regular" here at this point. Their happy hour specials are the best in my opinion. If you sit at the bar you can enjoy a bottle of wine and two apps for $30. Who can beat that! my usual go-to appetizers are the meatballs and the eggplant rolatini. If youve never had either of those i highly recommend it. The pasta dish looked like someone boiled some udon noodles, chopped up some chewy, thick bacon, threw some canned, stewed tomatoes on top and called it a day. The lasagna was slightly better but was basically thick slabs of half melted cheese and ground meat. Was very disappointed in the quality of the food, especially given the cost. I called on a Tuesday to make reservations for my mom's 80th celebration for Sat. Feb. 20th & spoke to a lady about sitting in the private area next to the wine area. When I came in my family was sitting somewhere else inside in a corner. I was furious because it was supposed to be a special setting for my mom & I wanted it to be special she's hard of hearing & couldn't really enjoy the music or see how beautiful the place was. Their excuse was ridiculous that they couldn't get a hold of the owner & the owner was the one who made a reservation for the table at 7pm when our reservation was at 6pm. I'm still upset about it because they could of simply accommodated us instead kept apologizing & said they couldn't do anything about it. I couldn't stress enough it was a special occasion & they simply didn't care. Due to my experience I'm giving it one star. It was one of my favorite local restaurants. I actually went on Valentine's Day & decided to come back for this occasion. However, the service in accommodation was unacceptable & I'm not coming back. This is a quaint and well run Italian restaurant in Pinecrest on US 1. We've been there several times and have always enjoyed the food. The quality of the meals is excellent and the wait staff is friendly. It can be tricky to get a table so get a reservation. The best part of Anacapri is the fact that they are connected to a wine store so you can buy wine at retail price and have it with dinner instead of paying the usual 2x price restaurants charge. Look for The Prisoner wine. It's amazing at $35. While I don't consider it a 5-star restaurant, it's a very strong 4-star, so this review is meant to adjust their score for those who have been incorrectly unjust. In my humble opinion. read more

I have been going to Anacapri for a long time, and their food has been consistently good as long as I've been going. My go-to dish is the Rigatoni Anacapri which is amazing. I have traveled all over Italy and the carbonara gives the best Italian places a run for their money as well! The owner is Italian and the pasta is homemade. The wine selection is also incredible! The staff is always pleasant and attentive. I went after phase one re-open and the dining room was redone (fresher look) and everything was clean and up to COVID standards. Everything was amazing. The waitress was great the food was amazing the wine was a great price. It just felt as if I pretty much got kicked out after a bit. I had ordered a lot of food and 3 bottles of wine. After being there for 2 hours the manager just brings the check and throws it on my table without even talking to me while I was still eating my desert and finishing my half of the bottle of wine i had left. From that moment on the waitress no longer visited my table or even looked in my direction for the rest of the time until I walked out. I did not appreciate to feel as if I was being kicked out after spending as much money as I did. And I would have potential spent more and continued to order if it hadn't been for that. Very unfortunately we did not have a good experience at Anacapri. Reviews play an important role in the this community, they help many make an informed decision about whether the business is providing a good service or not. For my husband and I, it has been the worse customer service we've ever experienced and directly from the "manager" Maria. In addition to having a hard time just trying to place our order and then getting the order correct. When trying to speak with Maria about the risotto with mushrooms I had taken literary one bite of, she went off on me and my husband in a very rude and sarcastic manner. She stated what I was describing about the taste was IMPOSSIBLE and it was a shame I did not like imported mushrooms from Italy! My husband as a business owner was in complete shock! We could not believe our ears or what was happening! Maria conducted herself in an unprofessional and emotional manner not letting my husband or I get a word across. Not to mention we were disappointed with their food and what we had to pay for it. Maria refused to give us any type of credit after we returned the COMPLETE risotto dish. Couldn't agree more with Lorenzo's T review here. We will certainly NOT return here or recommend it. I'm usually a patient person, but this was lunch on a weekday and we're not here to waste time so I attempted to get the attention of someone I thought was a waiter but apparently he was too busy trying to look busy when I made eye contact with him... He decided to come over but then veered off to clean the table next to us, pretending he didn't notice that we were sitting there ready to order. Really??! After a few more minutes our waiter finally came to the table just as we were ready to give up and leave; the final nail in coffin was driven when the waiter told my boss that adding shrimp to her already overpriced kale salad was $3 for EACH shrimp. Stopped in for wine on Wednesday (the second Weds of the month there is a wine tasting event) and a high top by the bar was promptly cleared for us and chairs were brought over. Though we missed the wine tasting, we were still pleasantly surprised by happy hour prices, bread + butter was brought to our table and the server answered all our questions. Will definitely be returning for happy hour and can hopefully make it on time to the next tasting (it's $25 pp at 6pm and $10 pp at 7pm -- I believe this price includes small bites, too)! read more

When we were driving over to this place for dinner, I was asking the people I was with "but, is the food there good???" and although they had eaten there numerous times before, they were like "I think so, I mean, decent. I mean, I think it's not bad. But, really, I can't remember." And, really that's kind of what this place is like. Not great, not awful, just kind of there.... I got the gnocchi and it was fine. Starchy and the like and I opted for marinara sauce rather than the cream sauce it came with. It also came with prosciutto and peas, which on the menu sounded great. I was thinking large, thin, delicate ribbons of pig sitting daintily amid peas and gnocchi. Not so much. It was tiny, hard, chopped up pieces of ham swimming in sauce. Not bad, but not good enough to return to this restaurant. Plus, the side salad before the meal was small, sad, and mostly iceberg lettuce. Service, however, was stellar. The food really is 6 out of 5, but we're only allowed five stars. Whatever. We came for Mothers Day. They were packed to the brim (fortunately we had reservations). So I think the service suffered a bit for this (we had to ask a couple times for bread, water, and the appetizers). That being said, the food is the best Italian food you are going find here in the states. I never have (and probably never will) have a better meatball in my life. Everyone's dish was delicious, and the dessert was exceptional. Everyone had a bit of a grumble about the service, but each and every one of us agreed we will be coming back. Mom and pop places that have been around for a while truly hold a special place in my heart. This is one of them. So lets get the obvious out of the way- the place is old and it perhaps could benefit from a little upgrade not to mention how dark it is..but somehow you get over that and I will tell you why. The food is rich in flavors that will definitely fill you up. The bruschetta, Pear Fiocchi and the peas with pancetta are some of my favorites. The wine bar has a fair selection of wines and the staff is pretty knowledgeable. Oh not to mention the little market they have- wow talk about product overload but it is worth it to walk in there an explore. I have to say though the service can be a bit slow but like in many places you have to know when and at what time to go. I am giving this restaurant 3 stars not because it is has bad food, but because the attitude of the server is horrible. I have visited this place about 3 different times and I have always gone dressed appropriately. The service in the past has been good, but not great. On one visit I was very dressed down, to the point that I felt bad going in on how I was dressed (jogging pants and a sweater) Well, the server just decided that night to treat me like a second class citizen and telling me of certain menu items being a little expensive for me! Well, I was just pissed from that moment forward, I made my remarks to him and to say the least I have never gone back. This place is so small, and exclusive feeling. It's hidden in a shopping center, and that's just the way I like it! If it were crowded, it would lose some of its appeal. We had heard about this restaurant for years, so I decided to surprise my husband last Saturday night. What a HUGE disappointment. There were maybe four tables being used. We were there about 10 pm. We were greeted and seated promptly. It was downhill from there. We ordered calamari, which clearly wasn't fresh. It has no flavor and was difficult to chew. His shrimp Diablo was the same rubbery texture. My husband didn't like it and he eats everything. He ended up eating my dinner, which was the house special of chicken stuffed with spinach. Not bad. Great, compared to the rest. But, the real kicker was my Cesar salad with a very long hair in it. When I pointed it out, the manager brought me another, without any type of an apology. Love this place... Hidden in a busy shopping center, you will find this little gem. I've gone to the Anacapri in the Gables which is a bit bigger than this location. The food was fresh and the service was good. I recommend making reservation during the weekend because it does get packed and it isn't very small. The brushetta is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I can order only that and dessert and my meal could be complete. I am NOT a tomato lover and I convert every time I come here. But of course you MUST try the pasta... Ohhh que rico!!!! The only negative is that it gets LOUD... EXTREMELY loud... so if you are looking for a quiet little Italian restaurant don't go during their busy times. If you don't mind, then go. The staff/host were extremely friendly and made us feel comfortable by coming by our table occasionally and striking up conversation. You don't see that too often at restaurants. And I so liked the place, but there's no place in my heart for a sneak. But then when you're swamped with local business... Tip; Always put your copy of a receipt under the original before you complete and sign the ticket. The impression goes through. Then write to the side of the impression so it's easier for you to see when you check your bill. I can tell you that I have been stung a few times by overzealous crooks that crank up the tip. Sometimes like Anacapri a slight amount that you might not notice or others where they jack you for an extra $100... Another option is to use your phone to photo the original receipt. read more

Anacapri will always hold a special place in my heart. My husband proposed to me there in 1994. Anacapri fed us while we went through law school. Anacapri fed both my babies while I was pregnant. My toddler learned to sit and butter his bread there. My daughter celebrated her communion there. They have catered countless events for us. Anacapri is as close to home as you can get. My kids are now 17 and 12 and love Joe, Maggie and the Zuozo family. Can't wait to go back this week. read more
