    More hair in my food
    Candice S.

If I could do 0 stars, I would. The MULTIPLE hairs I found in my food is unacceptable. Not to mention the overcooked and dry other parts of my order. I'm completely disgusting and disappointed. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

Amy is amazing! The food is always good and she is a really great person as well. I highly recommend her place.

    "Sesame chicken"

This sesame chicken was so disappointing I had to write a review. Barely any flavor, barely any sauce, and tough as hell. When I saw it in my bag I was extremely confused, I thought they had given me sweet and sour chicken by mistake. Iced tea is fine, egg roll also disappointing. My little sister got the lo mein and could only eat a couple bites. Maybe I'm wrong and this place is going for a non-American Chinese food flavor but that is what I expect and I was really disappointed.

Red curry fried rice and seafood lo mein

The food is quite good and prepared very quickly, but the bizarre ambiance suggests this restaurant would be much better for takeout than for dining in. The ambiance: There's nothing quite like dining in at a low cost Chinese or Indian restaurant. Usually you're either the only or one of few tables and the echoing silence can be overwhelming. This restaurant had that overwhelming silence despite what seemed like the owners entire family sitting on one side of the restaurant. There was no music playing and we felt quite awkward holding a conversation in front of these silent observers. The food: The food was great, we'll definitely be ordering takeout or delivery from here in the future. We tried the pork dumplings to start, which were freshly prepared, crisp, and delicious. We tried the seafood lo mein and red curry fried rice with pork for our main course and really enjoyed both. The only sour note to our meal was the mango smoothie. It had a great flavor and at first I believed chunks of real mango, but upon closer inspection the smoothie was filled with these weird rectangular, colorless jello things. The texture was awful and I couldn't drink anymore of it, but my fiancé didn't mind. The service: Almost as weird as the ambiance. One woman sat us, took our orders, cooked the food, delivered it, took takeout orders, bagged them, etc. The only time her family helped at all was when she was cooking and some guy dropped off some paper products. Due to her busyness we waiting about 15 minutes to get our check while we sat there not touching our plates. Her family didn't alert her we were done or do anything to help. It was strange.

Spicy Boneless Chicken with pork fried rice...

I known they said 50-60 mins for delivery that is long times and plus 15 mins late!! I nearly to gave up and cancel when food come to the door. Spicy boneless chicken wasn't even spicy, look like just Chicken Cutlet. Pork fried rice was fine. Fish fillet with garlic sauce, again it wasn't spicy likes I requested. Sauteed mixed vegetable was plain likes steam veggies. Strawberry smooties was so sweet and melted to water. Im not impressed at all...

I love Amy's. Although a bit pricier than other Chinese take-out spots, it's definitely worth it based on taste and freshness. First, the interior when you walk in is totally not what you'd expect compared to other Chinese take-outs. It's very homey, intimate even. The kitchen is in the back behind a curtain, not behind the registers like most other Chinese spots. And the lady who's always there (Amy I presume) is a total sweetheart. Always attentive to her customers who dine in (from what I've seen, though personally I've always gotten my food takeout). On to the food. The first thing I ever got there was the steamed shrimp dumplings. These are delicious. Pieces of fresh shrimp with fresh veggies (carrots, peas) inside the dumpling dough, steamed to perfection. One of the healthiest items on their menu (FYI they have a whole section in their menu devoted to diet/steamed foods). The other two dishes I've tried are the Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken, both delicious. Again, the freshness of Amy's is what puts it over the top when it comes to Chinese spots. Whereas some places you might find dark pieces of who-knows-what claiming to be chicken, both these Amy's dishes use white meat chicken; it looks and, most importantly, tastes superior. All in all, deliciously fresh chinese take out spot...pay the extra $ for this place, you won't be sorry.

I have been ordering from Amys for a few years now since she opened but lately I noticed the difference in the quality of food so I didn't order for a while today I decided to ordered my favorite dish she makes which is sesame chicken with vegetables fried rice , when I received the order that usually is her husband that delivers it and of course delivers the food with an attitude and is always very nasty and looks at you like you have to give him a tip like who does that.. anyhow when I got my food noticed my sesame chicken was very dried and while my daughter was serving herself she found a roach inside the food never again will I order from them and do not recommend this restaurant too no one after this experience

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

I hadn't been to EDH in a while and was happy to see they do have later hours (with a smaller late night menu). The place was pretty busy at 10:00 PM last Saturday, with a wide range of diners, which is good for business. The food though, at least that night, was really disappointing. My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

The pacing of the meal for the quantity of food received seemed very rushed, and we didn't really have a chance to relax and enjoy any of the courses. However, the quality of the experience was a complete disaster particularly for the price. Clearly, the packed restaurant would disagree, but for the four of us anyway, we would not return. It started with the check in process at what felt like a long hotel front desk with multiple, self important hosts and hostesses overseeing your entrance to the cavernous bar/waiting area. One problem is the noise is so deafening that you can't really hear what they say to you but we check in a few minutes early and waited obediently in the bar area chatting. After about 30 minutes (15 after our reservation time), and watching numerous parties large and small who arrived after us be seated by the hostesses wandering through the dimly lit space who peer quizzically and ask your name, my husband went to ask for an update. (We joked that those vibrating lighted buzzers alerting when your table was ready would have been super helpful, but it was amusing to watch while we waited). It was clear they somehow lost track of us as she had him repeatedly spell our (not unusual) name. Anyway, after that, within 10 minutes after that we were taken downstairs to our seats (but not before standing awkwardly in the large dining area near packed tables waiting while our table was cleaned). Server with a heavy accent was kind and mostly helpful so none of this is on him. The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.

Then we got a handful of apps - everyone else swore by all the ones they'd had - but I just tried the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and... sweet baby Jesus, this little plate had a wicked amount of flavor from every angle.  "Aggressively seasoned" might be an understatement.  Wild. Onto the mains and I ventured towards their Spicy Drunken Noodle (my go-to whenever I'm hitting a Thai restaurant on my home turf) and... yeah, you probably guessed it - incredible. Not the biggest portion but they made every single component sing with flavor. With so much going on - of course I needed to indulge with another drink (hey, I wasn't driving!). There were six of us, it came to about $100 a person... welcome to NYC. But we did get a wide selection of plates/food and those two drinks accounted for about $40 of my tab. (And you'll never see such a heavy wine pour at a restaurant... they filled the glass almost to the rim - which was not even something I'd do for myself when I'm home.) Definitely recommended.
