Amazing Christmas train!…read more We decided to buy tickets for the last ride of the night (8pm) for Santa's Enchanted Forest. We also wanted to ride Parlor class this time as we've ridden coach before. Parlor had tables and snacks and drink service! Santa was so much fun too. We declined having any pictures taken, I heard the lady say it was $25 for one print. Which is fine but I also didn't think I looked cute enough as I was bundled to the cheeks. It was below freezing! After the ride we visited Mrs Clause and got the kid's jingle bells and hot chocolate.

Denver's Union Station is full of history, good eats/drinks, and the beginning or end of trip…read morestories. I am not too aware of all the history behind the building, but I look forward to soon. There are plenty of places to eat and have a drink in and around Union Station (breakfast spot, coffee spot, at least 2 bars I'm aware of, etc). It really is a nice place to both begin and end trips. It is hard to explain but I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. It is also a nice place to get some work done. There are plenty of places to sit and plug in. Keep in mind that the bathrooms downstairs are open to the public so you may see some interesting things and individuals there.

There is so much going on in all of the various wings of this place! A hotel, other restaurants, at Christmas there is a holiday popup in the basement, a ticketing station, etc! I've really only been to the main area and love the new beautiful installment of Pigtrain Coffee. I love the fancy pistachio pastry dessert at Baumé and the Christmas tree decor this past year was AMAZE. I feel like it represents a standard that people will experience throughout Denver in their travels like if they just arrived there via Union Station or are relatively new. It's a vibe of quality that permeates throughout.

At the time of our visit, parking was free in a large parking lot. The transit building has old, but clean restrooms. We parked here and walked up and down Main street sightseeing. A free trolley is available for transit to Main street. It is a circulator. The transit center also offer free city buses and regional bus service to surrounding cities.

Same as many of the others layout wise. At this particular stop you have sixty or so parking spaces. Across the highway another hundred. Who doesn't love a good bridge over rail and highway traffic? Last stop so it'll take awhile to wait. Little to no shade so check train times before heading out. Sure in Winter the snow and wind will be miserable while waiting here. On the plus side they do have bike storage. Some nice art commissioned by RTD (the plow) and the stop was designed well for Uber, Lyft, Taxi, and busses. Wide lanes so even in winter months maneuverability is maintained. Park and ride across the street via the foot bridge. Guess they have a poor AM / PM system for that. (Via Brian's review) Know they are still working out some kinks. Better than nothing but we can't expect them to be Chicago or Bay Area Rapid Transit overnight.

Riding The rails is not scenic. You'll pass through some of the poorest parts of the city, ugly industrial area, homeless camps, and lots of trash. I recommend packing light--one bag only. Don't hesitate to ask someone if you need help navigating the rail system. I found both passengers and staff helpful. More people riding mass transit will help Mother Earth and your bank balance.

My friend dropped me off at the train station but it directed her to the parking garage across the highway so I had to take the elevator up to the crossing enclosed bridge and down the stairs on the other side. Well lit, just lonely. The train platform had some people waiting but they left on the train before mine. There were some people just hanging out and I made sure to be aware as I didn't like the loitering. I don't know if I recommend that station. It's a bit too lonely for my tastes. Didn't feel quite safe. No businesses nearby and no Rtd police. Made me re-think my decision.

I have no idea how much the parking costs because I found a free street parking space both times I was here. There are automated ticket vending machines on the platform and you will absolutely want to buy a ticket. All four times I rode the train, there was a conductor checking for fares. The train is clean and comfortable enough. It's only a 12 minute run from Westminster to Union station so I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if it was crowded during the rush hour runs. Three stars because the train only runs every hour. That's a big gap between trains!

Not drinking and driving etc. only pain is the last train to Westminster/Arvada is around 10:20. For people wanting to stay out later it's nice to drive. Still the train took about eleven minutes into Union Station and around fourteen to get back to Westminster. Would ride again.

Current I-70 construction is bad news on the freeways but will ultimately improve access to this station. Part of the larger Stapleton revitalization.
