Your Texas Patio - Beatiful project in memorial!

Your Texas Patio

Spring Branch

From top to bottom, these guys are amazing…read more I'd received a pretty obnoxious quote for a covered patio and kitchen so did a little bit of price shopping. Of the 6 quotes I got, Jacob at Your Texas Patio blew them all away (he beat the obnoxious one by nearly $50,000 for basically the exact same project). I generally don't go for the cheapest option, but after the initial conversations he had me convinced that he knew what he was doing. So, I dove right in. As soon as they had the go ahead, work was underway. Angel led the way on the construction end and was out there every day (often including the weekends) doing everything from tearing out the side of the house to connect the structure, putting down posts, framing the roof, painting, etc. A real construction stud. In no time the project was complete and I'm extremely happy with the finished project (which beat our target date by about 2 weeks). Sure, there were some snags along the way. I had some plumbing issues that needed to be addressed (1960s house with original sewage lines), a sprinkler than was inadvertently damaged and the need to run a gas line from the other side of the house. Jacob fixed anything that needed to be fixed immediately, and if there was something outside the scope of the project he had someone out there for me to consult with on the same day (I couldn't even get my longtime plumber or audio guys out within two weeks). If I had a tweak to design or a minor addition, it was done. If I had questions on the project at 11pm after a few whiskeys or on a weekend at 7am on my way to a soccer game, it was answered. Sure, he looks like a kid, but he knows what he's doing. I'll be using them on my next projects and you probably should, too.

The meeting went well and the person that showed up at my house was nice and polite. The problem was that I felt as if I had to chase the person in order to get my bid. They stated that they had to go out of town and I would get the bid when they returned. So I received the bid 7 days after my appointment and 5 days after all the other bids. The price of the concrete was a fair price but I decided to go with another company because of the time frame I needed. Perhaps next project I can use this company.

Honesty, Integrity, Professionalism…read more This was my experience with Groundworks Foundation Consultation. Beau Roper arrived at our property on time, introduced himself politely, and gave us a quick overview of what to expect -- how long things would take and when we'd get the report back. We walked the property together so I could point out any issues and he could ask questions. He then got to work, explaining that the inspection would take about an hour to an hour and a half since he needed to be thorough and photograph everything on the property. We ran some errands and came back just as he was finishing up. He walked us through everything he'd done and made sure my wife felt comfortable with the findings before leaving the property clean and orderly. Moving forward, Groundworks kept us updated on the status of the report and what to expect next. Everything arrived exactly on time. I can't thank them enough -- this was an exceptional experience compared to other contractors I've dealt with. Groundworks provided a very thorough report, complete with the licensed engineer's information, which made a real difference. Quick note for anyone in Texas: there's no state license or requirement to be a foundation contractor here -- all you need is a shovel. It's a pretty wide-open, unregulated space. That's what made Groundworks' transparency stand out even more. As it turned out, our house didn't need any foundation work, so we don't know firsthand how they'd handle an actual repair. But if we ever do need one, it'll be with Groundworks -- because of how Beau Roper handled everything, start to finish.

Needed some concrete work redone around my swimming pool. Looked on YELP and found Sergio's…read moreConcrete Work. Sergio was very busy but was able to come out on a Sunday to look at the project and then sent a bid through email. I found his price to be very competitive and he understood the work we needed done. He and his crew came out and did the project in 1 day. It was a small project so it was done in 1 day, we paid at the end of the day after the project was done. They hauled and disposed of the old concrete matter. The crew was well mannered. They cleaned up the area well when they finished the project. We were happy with the work and we do recommend him.

Sergio came our, quoted the job and told us about his business and after comparing the quotes we realized that Sergios was very competitive. So we hired him and his team. They came out and in one day did all the concrete work that we needed by concreting, where two stalls were in our barn, concreted, the lean too attached to our barn for us to store our tractor and also put in a concrete pad for a propane tank. Sergio was very communicative. He understood what we wanted. His crew was respectful of our property and cleaned up after themselves. After they completed the job, Sergio hauled away the old concrete that they had to tear out. I will definitely refer him to anybody that I know. And we will use him again in the future.

AB Concrete - completed driveway

AB Concrete

I owe my neighbor for finding AB Concrete (Anthony Burkhalter). She did her homework finding Tony,…read morebut her job was really not economical as it was too small, but I needed to have my driveway and walkway redone. My original drive and walkways were done in 1970 and had no rebar and thus were cracked and heaving. Tony responded to my call quickly and arranged to come look at the job and gave me a bid on the spot. I told him that he should contact my neighbor back about her small job and piggyback on my job so it could be more economical for her. Tony told me exactly how they would do the job, how long it would take, and all the details on the project. I signed the contract and we set up an estimated date to start, depending on any weather delays. Tony was able to include my neighbor's job with mine and reduce his original bid for their job. Both were scheduled concurrently. Tony kept me updated on the start time and said his crew would be there at 7:30 AM and they showed at 7:15 AM, this was every day. The crew took care during the whole project, protecting existing structures, plants, etc. to protect from damage and concrete overspray. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts, during use of a cut-off saw, a small piece of material struck my door glass and broke. Tony took responsibility and reimbursed for the damage before the job was completed. No other issues or damage happened during the work. AB Concrete is a top tier concrete contractor. Tony has an awesome crew and Tony himself is present during the work and is working alongside of his workers. After the concrete was poured and cured for a day, AB Concrete came back, removing the form boards, cleaning up the work area; picking up rocks, tape, board chips, power washing the concrete and street area, putting back disturbed landscaping. Tony's communication during the whole process was outstanding, constantly checking to make sure I was happy with work and explaining in detail what they would be doing and checking if I had questions or concerns. AB Concrete goes the extra mile, doing small things that add value like cleaning the expansion joints so they look nice, picking up the smallest stuff in the work area, power washing the street in front of where they worked. My neighbors noticed the quality of the work done and I have referred at least 3 neighbors to AB Concrete before the job was completed! This is the testament to quality. Highly recommended.

I am really baffled and frustrated by my experience. I…read morereached out via email and Mr. Tony called me right away to discuss my project I was requesting a bid for. He took the time to ask questions and educate me about concrete in general and my situation specifically. We arranged for him to go out on the following Monday to bid the job. But I never heard from him again. There was a freeze and schools and roads were closed that day, so the next day when I texted back if he could let me know when we would be rescheduling. Then nothing. It is now end of day Friday and no return contact, no bid, just ghosting or some serious problem. It is a real shame because based on the other reviews, reported superior concrete mix used, local small business, I had really wanted AB Concrete to do the job. But now I have wasted a week and really don't see an explanation that would make me want to still do business with them.
