I've been coming here for years. It is the best Indian food place around. I usually order to go. It's expensive but so delicious.

Often, the most excellent Indian food is found in small towns. This family left Miami and relocated here. Using traditional family recipes, it's one of the best American-focused Indian restaurants in Florida. Meaning that they tend to do more "standard" dishes that will land well on an American palette. Nothing too exotic. For that, the mixed Tandoori grill was outstanding. One of the best that I've had. The Lamb Saag was great and the naan and rice were amazing. Portions were generous! Right off the fwy, whether you're local, or passing through, it's a great place to eat. Lots of parking. Great service ! read more

Amrit Palace - Lamb Saag - Indian Near Me - Ocala, Florida

This review is only based on their chicken tikka masala that I ordered through DoorDash, so I cannot review their service or dining experience. The naan was fresh and well made. Typical with other Indian restaurants I've tried in the past. The rice was also as expected as well. They give you a nice portion size of both as well. The chicken tikka masala looked good, but for the price they were a bit skimpy with the chicken. The ratio of sauce to chicken was off and I had a ton of sauce leftover. I did appreciate them adding veggies to the dish. They added onions and bell peppers. The dish was very acidic and had a bit of sour and tomato taste to it that is not typical of past chicken tikka masalas I had. The spices also did not seem balance and it seemed like they could have better mixed them since I could taste some of the spices texture in the food. I also felt like the chicken was a bit tough as well. I have never tried another Indian restaurant in the area, so maybe this is the best place here. But compared to other Indian places I've tried I would say based on this one experience the quality and taste of the food was slightly below average especially for the price. read more

Authentic flavors and extraordinary service....their recent remodel is great and the atmosphere is very nice. Absolutely love the lamb vindaloo, my only complaint is they recently did away with Peshwari naan (sweet bread) which was my favorite. highly recommend! read more

This Indian restaurant is a hidden gem in Ocala. It is right off 75 so it's pretty convenient to get to. They have a large dining room and ample parking. The service was great from the beginning and was consistently high quality throughout. Food quality here is excellent. The curry chicken was delicious and the portions were very generous! Definitely hit the spot and will have to revisit soon. read more

This restaurant service certainly exceeded our expectations ! We were seated immediately and the setting was great. All the appetizers and entrees we ordered were cooked well. The naan and garlic naan were great! We really enjoyed the refreshing ginger/peach/mint ginger beer drink! The mango lassi and mango cheesecake desert were both delicious. read more

I love Amrit Palace. I will definitely come again. Amrit palace is a Indian cuisine in Ocala, FL. The location is nice- right off the highway on SR-200. The design is Indian themed (ofc) and the food tastes great. Also, all meat is halal fyi. So we ordered 4 vegetable samosas, butter chicken (with a side or garlic naan and rice), goat curry (with a side of chickpea salad and rice), and a mixed platter. For beverages we got a Sprite, water, mango juice, and mango lassi. Now lets talk about the food. The butter chicken (which I ordered, I literally have nothing to say to you guys. That's how good it was. It was the best food I've had in a very very long time. The gravy melts in your mouth and its soooo tasty. The mango juice and tasty vegetable samosas were good sides to go with it. Also, the service was very nice. I recommend you give a tip. I would recommend this place to anyone who saw that billboard on I-75 North saying " best Indian food in Ocala" if they have a taste for Indian food. read more

I have ordered take out from here quite a few times . Today we ordered take out as usual but I was shocked by the size of the take out containers! These are not even 1/2 inch full . For $20 a container this is a HUGE scam . Absolutely not $20 worth of food ! They definitely downsized on the containers but went up on price . Food tastes good but will not be returning . read more

Amrit never disappoints. I've brought several Indian food virgins who all were nervous to try and ALL LOVED IT! Madras fried shrimp appetizer is one of my favorites as is lamb saag. There's a large menu with all the dishes you know and love. read more

One of the few places open on July 4th, we got there just as they were closing and they were gracious and let us in. Our waiter Keyran (sp?) greeted us and was smiling from ear to ear and was very friendly. I got the butter chicken with my daughter and my wife got the Tandoori chicken. We have a favorite Indian restaurant where we live back home. I felt the butter chicken was on par (a good thing!). My daughter who is picky, absolutely LOVED it. My wife felt the Tandoori chicken was missing something and was hoping for a little bit stronger seasoning, but was still happy. She got a cucumber mint vodka and she said the drink was excellent. The naan was also very good. The portions aren't massive, but the price point was excellent and they do offer a military discount for AD/veterans. The place was spotless clean and the decor was standard for an Indian restaurant. I would definitely return next time I'm here. Revisited with my husband after my first try and again was very impressed with both the food and service! Very generous portions; we had leftovers for dinner the following night at home. Still delicious! read more

ALWAYS a great experience! Recently they added a Thali lunch special, only available on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, which we tried yesterday. You choose two entrees, one side item, choice of Naan or Roti and a choice of dessert. Yes, they are smaller portions yet I still left stuffed and my wife did a take away box. Sam was our server whom we have had several times and he's on it doing a great job every time. We live in The Villages and it's an easy half hour ride north up 301. Get out of 'The Bubble' and give Amrit Palace a try, you won't regret it. Lastly, ask for a Mango Lassi drink. It's non-alcoholic but YUM!!!! Tell them Steve & Lee sent you. read more

First time trying Indian cuisine and boy were we BLOWN away! Not only is it a beautiful restaurant, the restaurant itself is cozy and dimly lit (not dark which I loved). Our waiter, Kavin was spot on with his recommendations. We celebrated a birthday and the whole experience was wonderful. The service was fantastic. This restaurant has set the bar pretty high for us. We'll definitely come back on our next trip to Ocala! read more

I had an enjoyable dinner at Amrit Palace with my family after a day in Ocala. We all ordered different items, and were all impressed with our selections. The service provided by Kiran was exceptional. I do not hesitate to recommend Amrit Palace as the best location for Indian cuisine in the Ocala area. read more

Driving to North Florida, this restaurant was recommended. I pass on the recommendation. It's not far off the highway and well worth the stop. We chose the dinner for two which was so much food we enjoyed the leftovers for dinner the next evening. The ambiance is lovely, nice lighting, comfortable seating. The food is delicious. The meal started with a small bowl of their dahl, lentil soup. A selection of appetizers with really tasty dips followed. We chose the lamb curry and tandoori chicken for mains. Their rice is just as rice should be. Dessert was the amazing homemade mango ice cream. The only piece missing was the after dinner seeds to refresh your palette. I know this is stopped because of COVID and safety. Why not give a small serving in a small cup for those who request. read more

First of all the interior is perfect. We were seated right away. Server was with us immediately asking what beverages we would like in addition to appetizer. We ordered our meal and it was there in 10 minutes. I had the madras shrimp, my friend the lamb. And garlic naan. We both were groaning in pleasure and nearly licked our plates clean. I live in Orlando and have seen this diverse a menu. GO HERE! I've been to India and this is as authentic as I e had here in Florida. read more

I lived near little India in California so I know good food. Amrit is a jewel of a place because it's in Florida and everything I've tried there is very good and exotic. GOAT curry and the tandoori platter are great. They had a an okra dish that was very different and outstanding. Even the wines were great. Pepper naan with cilantro. And the waiter suggested garlic added to it. That was great. read more

We have always wanted to try Indian cuisine so for my husband's birthday meal we went to Amrit Palace in Ocala. The outside of the restaurant is an eye catcher - gorgeous from the color of the building, the architecture, pillars and golden statues of horses. Very beautiful, very classy and well maintained. Even their entrance is very pretty with beveled double doors leading into a very tastefully decorated restaurant with Indian artwork and arches continuing through the building. Even the lighting was decorated to give it a "palace" feel! Service was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. After perusing the menu we did have some questions regarding the appetizers and entrees which were answered to our satisfaction to make good choices for our palates. We ordered two different appetizers. One was the Meat Momosas which our server recommended. Very big filled dumplings that I believe were fried that were a joy to eat. Filled to the brink with ground lamb, vegetables and spices. So unique, so good. We will definitely order them again when we go back. We also ordered and tried the Bhujia a fried vegetable fritter. While the taste was good - they were a little too greasy for my likes so I probably will try something else next time. With our appetizers we were served two small bowls of condiments. One was a dark, syrup like sauce. Our server explained this was their pomegranate sauce. The other condiment was a Mango chutney, beautiful in appearance and very sweet on taste. Both go well with the appetizers but I felt a little goes a long way. I even used them on my entree and rice. My entree was Chicken Tikka Masala. Chunks of white chicken meat in a red sauce. It was full of flavor but not fire. Loaded with chicken, some veggies and sprinkled with Cilantro, it was scrumptious!! Served with side of their Basmati rice. This rice was fantastic!! Long grained rice cooked to perfection! So tasty, so aromatic because it was spiked with cumin seeds that stood out like little jewels in a sea of white. We also ordered the Garlic Naan bread to go with our meal. It came out grilled to perfection, piping hot, loaded with garlic and butter! A perfect accompaniment to a fantastic meal! We ate till our heart's content and our buttons bursting and brought the leftovers home! Such a beautiful, memorable birthday meal! Hubby loved it as much as I did! A fabulous date night go to place, I cannot wait until our next visit to try new dishes with the flavor of India! read more

We recently moved here from the DC area, so I had my go to Indian restaurants in that area. This is the first one we've tried here and I drove 30 minutes to try it. I would say it's more like a 3.5 for us. We tried Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, and Veggie Samosas. Oh we also tried the Onion Kulcha Naan. The Chicken Tikka has a lot of large pieces of peppers (green) and onions in it (I'm not use to that) and the sauce had a different flavor profile than I am accustomed to. The Butter Chicken was a similar experience. The Samosas were HUGE and well cooked, but didn't come with any kind of dipping sauce/chutney. I'm use to them coming with a sweet and also a spicier sauce to dip. Without anything to dip them in, they were dry. The Onion Kulcha had a lot of herbs in it that we didn't care for. I love Indian food and have been to many different Indian restaurants in the North East and California, over the years. The food here is good and the staff was friendly, I just think it's not a good match for us, based on the type of Indian food I'm use to. We'll keep trying other ones in Florida. If you live in the area though and haven't tried it, it's worth a visit. read more

the best best best food and service ever!!!! ambiance is gorgeous! must get the garlic cheese nan and the tikka

Every time we drive to South Florida, we stop at this Indian restaurant but this is the first time I'm reviewing it. We stopped here for quick lunch during our drive. They don't have buffet but have lunch specials. The place is nice and big from the inside and the seating is good too. I didn't see their chicken tikka masala on the lunch special menu, so I ordered the regular entree. We also tried their tandoori chicken and seekh kebabs. The chicken tikka masala was good but the curry could be blended better. I could taste the spices (masalas) but something about it was different than last time. It was still good but I've had better in the past is what I'm saying. They start you with some daal (lentil) soup first and food arrived pretty fast. Service was fast but they forgot to refill our sodas or water. The food quantity is good too as shown by the photos below. I really liked the tandoori chicken and seekh kebabs. read more

The food is absolutely fantastic, last time we got takeout. My wife and a huge fan of Indian food and this did not disappoint.

Atmosphere is wonderful! Amrit is decorated with traditional Indian colors, patterns, and lighting. My husband and I sat in the middle of the restaurant at a unique table that seemed designed to make one feel special with its own Middle Eastern lanterns and a clear view of the gorgeous bar. Food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our helpful server, Godwin, possessed manners that were polished, courteous and dignified. I have rarely experienced such excellent service in Ocala (or elsewhere for that matter). What a gem in Ocala! read more

We know very little about Indian cuisine and decided to give Amrit a try. Absolutely loved it. Ambience very nice, wait staff superb. I encourage anyone unsure what to order, ask the staff for suggestions. Savi our waiter was great and I am glad we took his advice.
