This was truly a surprise. The restaurant was beautiful, clean, with a welcoming friendly staff and fantastic food. We will definitely make the 40 minute drive again! read more

The food is AMAZING, however it is sometimes not worth the drive of 45 minutes there and another 45 minutes back with a stomach full of cream and butter. Tragic! A family member of mine insists on coming here every year for her Birthday. Anyways, there is a wonderful family atmosphere about this establishment. The prices are decent and the food is super tasty. Their Garlic Naan is the best I have ever had and their Mango Lassi is quite good too (not as sour as I normally like though). Make sure to try their Dal soup, it is rich and full of spice. All of the entrees I have had here are delicious, such as; Aloo Matar, Lobster Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Korma. We have been here so many times that I cannot remember everything, just that I have always had a great experience. Kheer (rice pudding) is not normally on their menu, but sometimes the owner will give you some of his personal stash. I will never forget how freaking good it was. Ice gold and thickened with basmati rice and cream, don't forget the white raisins, almonds, and pistachios. Drool... I have their number programmed into my phone, so if we are driving by on the interstate, I will call a take-out order while we are 20 minutes away and pick it up as we are passing by. Usually driving from Gainesville to Tampa or Orlando. read more

Very beautiful place. Service was excellent and food was fantastic as well. Located right off the main road. We were staying at a hotel right across the street so it was a 2 min walk. Really happy to try this place out. Great quality Indian food and the interior is very well designed. Can be slightly cold in there, so maybe bring a sweater or ask for some hot tea read more

One of the most horrible Indian restaurants that I have been to. First we get water without ice. Then we don't have silverware for two people until we requested for it. The entrees came with no spoons. The appetizer had samosas that were deep fried more than once making the meat samosa dry and unpalatable. Then we ordered Malai kofta, Rogan Josh and Methi Malai Mutter. Garlic Naan, Roghani Naan, Peshawari Naan and Tandoori Paratha. It arrived fast, the breads were okay, but the entrees sucked. The methi malai mutter was the worst disaster. Lots of cayenne pepper was added. The entire container was heated and the edges had the spice and nothing in the middle. The malai kofta was breaded!!!!!!! The kofta was supposed to be soft and the ingredients have allergies to my spouse and my son!!!!!!!! The Roghan Josh was dry. The meat was really over cooked. It felt like leftover food. The worst ever Indian restaurant I have been to. The worst part was the price - a whopping $80 for this crap. read more

Amrit Palace - Appetizers - Indian Near Me - Ocala, Florida

We were on our road trip driving to New York, when we stopped for lunch and searched for Indian restaurant- it is always our first choice. We found Amrit Palace and Looking over all these great reviews, I was excited to try it out. When we arrived, I was disappointed that they did not have a lunch buffet (usually we are lucky to find $10-$14 Indian lunch buffet) but at least they offered lunch special for $9.95 that included one dish with rice, soup and naan. Overall, the food was okay, but not that good that I would return. One thing that surprised me was the customer service. The waiters did not seem very friendly, they actually looked tired or bored, I never saw them smiling. It looked like they want to go home. Being myself in Hospitality field, I always notice things like that. For Lunch special they had plenty of options (2 chicken, 2 lamb and 6 vegetarian dishes - so yeey, for vegetarians, good thing!) that included rice, Dahl soup, fresh naan and onion chutney. I ordered vegetable curry with masala sauce instead of cream sauce, for which they charged me $2 extra (I was advised before so it's okay). - The Dahl soup was so so, in my opinion: too much garlic and too watery. I would not order it separate. - The vegetable curry was much better but not one of the best Indian curries I have tried. It was pretty thick, I would prefer more sauce. - The naan was okay but it was too much butter on top. I don't know why they do that - butter puddles on top of my naan? No, thanks. Indian food is heavy enough already. I heard another customer ordering "bread without butter" so this is what I was supposed to do. - I sampled onion chutney but I didn't feel like eating it with naan. They could have brought papadum to complement the chutney, it goes well together, and most restaurants bring chutney together with papadum - free of charge. After trying so many Indian restaurants all around the world, I can't give this place more than 3 stars. read more

I may have spoken too soon when I proclaimed that Amrit Palace had been "dethroned". After subsequent visits it became clear that Amrit Palace has, not only consistently banged out some mighty fine food, but has made its way into my coveted Favorite Place for Indian Cuisine in N. Central Florida. What was I thinking? Their sauces are right on point in terms of consistency and flavor. The lamb in the Rogan Josh was very tender and the Butter Chicken and Matar Paneer are truly in a class of their own. Their Naan? Quite good actually, though this one still goes to The Taj. Again, I can't over state how I jumped the gun on that "dethroned" statement; Amrit Palace, you've made me eat my words and they were oh so good! read more

The best Indian food I've had in a very long time. Ambiance is great. Kiran was my waiter and the service was outstanding

This Indian restaurant is located near I-75 at Ocala. I was attracting by number of yelpers that give the reviews. I am going to check it out. The drive is very easy from the interstate. Tonight my dinner I have order the Tandoori Chicken and chicken curry. The tandoori chicken came in sizzling hot plate. My plate is a half chicken. It accompanied with rice, curry sauce, chili onion red sauce, and green sauce. The tandoori chicken is actually place over the onion on the hot plate. This is clever ideal to avoid the chicken to be burn. My wife loves the marinated garlic, yogurt, ginger, and Indian spice that in the tandoori chicken. The sizzling sound and smoke make your appetite ready for the meal. The second dish is the chicken curry. I have asked for the medium hot where I consider not spicy at all. But my wife likes it this way and she said just right for her. This a boneless chicken cook in Indian Curry Spice. Curry spice in Malaysia is a bit different due to southern India. They use wet curry that mix by local Indian with turmeric, cumin and wide range of local spice such as yellow ginger, chili.... The curry in America is prepared by the dry powder. I like the thick curry instead of the watery curry which they have prepared it. Curry is gone well with rice and Nan bread. You can pick up the last drop of the gravy with Nan. Don't get the curry to finger of dress. It is difficult to get it out. Overall the restaurant is great in service. The only thing is the table of the booth space is narrow. The table edge to stomach is approximate 6". To me the spice need to be heavier, but to my wife is just right. The price range of the food is from $13 to $27. Portion is just right but not enough for left over to take home. read more

Amrit is so consistent whether you are dining in or getting takeout. Very clean and courteous staff.

A bit over priced for ok food and ok portions. Very stingy with the protein. I asked for the spiciest they offered, completely disappointed.

I'm at it again Dave the food critic. I've never given anyone five stars today is the day thanks to my lunch at Amrit Palace. I've traveled all over the state of Florida and I have to say this Indian food was by far the best I've ever had in Florida. Proportion perfect for lunch price point can't beat it definitely will be back it's worth the drive and I live an hour and a half away!!!! read more

Amrit Palace - Indian Near Me - Ocala, Florida

Drinks are fantastic. Indian twists make it unique. Great food and chutneys too. You will not be disappointed at all. Enjoy!

Good Indian food in Ocala, very convenient to I-75. Had the fancy lamb with nuts, very good with a creamy sauce, and the bhindi (okra), plus Indian tea and a mango lassi. I asked for "medium" spicy, which was fine. The lamb wasn't hot (the dish wasn't supposed to be hot), and the okra was hot enough to flavor, not so hot as to be dangerous.) So, overall, thumbs up on this one. read more

Authentic Indian food, which was hard to find around Ocala. The location is elegant but not too upscale that it is prohibitive. Nice relaxed environment. Spicy and delicious with large portions read more

I would give them a 5 star rating if their service was as good as their food. We waited for somebody to take our order for more than 5 minutes. The wine came and we had to wait for another 7 minutes for them to take our order. The wait was well worth it! The food was superb! I wish we lived closer to this restaurant. The veggies curry along with Nan with garlic and the lobster curry was delicious! read more

Absolutely delicious. Went with my dad, got the lunch special (only $10 for soup, naan, and an entree!) and we were both blown away. Such a great meal with professional waiters. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken (which came with a side of curry!!) & my dad got Chicken Curry. Everything was fantastic. As for the place itself, it was very nice! Nicely decorated with paintings and mixed media. Great place for a casual lunch or a nice date. Overall great experience. read more

Amrit Palace - Lunch special- Chicken Curry & Tandoori Chicken. Yum! - Indian Near Me - Ocala, Florida

So for the price, you can't beat lunch at Amrit. You get dal soup, a pita, jasmine rice, onion chutney and the lunch special of choice. I'm a fan of the keema egg. That's got green peas, minced lamb, and a hard boiled egg in a delicious curry. Leftovers are always delicious as well. All lunch curries are mild medium or hot which is a nice option to have. definitively recommend for the $10 it runs you! read more

Amrit Palace - Keema Egg (the lunch special i picked), which comes with Jasmine Rice, Pita, & Chutney - Indian Near Me - Ocala, Florida

Food and service were good. Waiter presented the bill but did not point out that they automatically added an 18 % service charge for a party of 5. I tipped 20% on top of the total bill. My mistake but I did not intend to tip over 40% for service. I won't be back. For those of you that choose to go, read your bill. read more

Poor service. Poor prices. Poor attitudes. I saw one of the small German roaches running across the floor and then noticed several more along the baseboards. I told the staff and they didn't seem to care at all. I figured this happens so I still got my food. Once we got our food there was two short black hairs in it! I thought I was being pranked by this point. I kindly told staff and they told me "its fiber it won't hurt you." I left them with the food and I'm never going back!! read more

Ordered Tandoori chicken and Madras Shrimp for appetizers. The tandoori is the best we have had in US but the shrimp dish was not good!! It had 5 pieces of shrimp and the plate was overflowing with onions and bell peppers!! The Keema naan was delicious and soft!! The Nawabi Biryani was the biggest disappointment and I was horrified to see huge pieces is cauliflower in it with barely any pieces of lamb/shrimp in them; the menu card doesn't say this description of a renowned dish from various parts of India!! The chicken do-piaja was poor and not to the standard recipe at all; an orange curry with again bell pepper bits!! The gulab jamun was basic and ok. read more

Amrit Palace - Chicken Curry, Mango Lassi, Dal Soup - Indian Near Me - Ocala, Florida

Went to Amrit awhile back (pre-COVID). My husband and I love Indian food but this was terrible. Got mush for food. Wouldn't recommend and won't go back. We've been to Indian restaurants all over the country and in London and Scotland and they were delicious (especially Scotland..go figure!), and this was awful. All I can say is yuck! read more

This place was absolutely amazing. From the moment we sat down, our server was super helpful. He explained the entire menu and also showed us pictures of meals as well so that we could gather an idea of what we wanted to order. I went with buttered chicken and my friend ordered tandoori chicken. Both were amazing and the garlic naan was to die for! Not to mention all of our food came within 5 minutes of ordering. I was beyond impressed. I definitely recommend this gem to anyone who enjoys authentic Indian food with spectacular service! read more

Wow finding exceptional Indian food in Ocala FL who would have thought it possible! The chicken vindaloo was perfect, spicy but extremely flavorful and the Lamb in the lamb curry was fantastic! Having lived in Northern Virginia an Indian hot spot and New Orleans and traveling extensively in Middle East I'd rank this place with any Indian restaurant in the US! Wow! read more

Went there this Mother's Day, 2011 with my folks (drove over from Homosassa, FL.) Nice & clean...probably the cleanest Indian Restaurant I've ever been too! Food was expensive for the amount served. We enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Butter Chicken, and the Saag Aloo (potatoes in spinach curry.) All were ordered mild. Had some garlic Naan with that too. All fresh tasting, and well prepared, but again, the amount served up was less than expected. One sour note: The pappadom ordered was also small, and the onion chutney served with the pappadom tasted like ketchup with onion flakes in it. 3 Stars. read more

Not very impressed...just moved to Ocala and I have to say it doesn't compare to restaurants in Houston!! I got the chicken tikki masala and it was ok. Didn't have a lot of chicken in it though it was disappointing really. read more

11/10 amazing food with great service. Food comes out insanely quick. The ambiance was great.

We had the Tikka Naan, Chicken Curry, and Chicken Tikka Masala for Dinner. Since it was our first time at Amrit Palace, our server gave us a few sauces to try with our meal. Our entrees were delicious. The chicken was very tender. The curry and masala dishes had a rich flavor. It was nice to hear that we had an option to ask for our entree to be made mild, medium, or hot. The service was good. Our server and the owner made sure to check in with each of the diners. We were asked to sample the Gajar Halwa dessert. It had a good taste but my wife thought that there was too much ghee at the bottom of the dish. The only concern we had were the prices. I thought they were a little high for the size of the portion that you get. That is why I gave only 4 stars. But overall, we had a wonderful meal and plan on coming back to try other dishes. Attached are photos of the recently changed menu. read more

This was by far the best Indian food I had for a long time ! Even the tomato relish was so yummy. I had chosen a dal soup which was do flavorful ! The portion was very small I wished they would offer a larger size it was THAT good! Then I had the aloo palak which was spinach with potatoes it was to die for . For years when passing Ocala I have been wanting to stop and explore it and I'm glad I did because now everyone I go see my daughter at UF now ... by the way GO GATORS I will now stop at this restaurant ! Pricing for lunch was very reasonable . Wait staff was very attentive and kept asking me if everything was good read more
