This has resulted in multiple unnecessary trips to the pharmacy, sometimes four or more in a single weekend. What concerns me most is that my mother is 84 years old and depends on these medications. Delays in filling or releasing prescriptions can leave older patients without medications they rely on. Even when there is a legitimate reason for a delay, the communication has often been poor, and the interactions have felt dismissive rather than compassionate. I understand that pharmacies face staffing shortages, insurance requirements, inventory issues, and many challenges that customers don't always see. However, elderly patients deserve timely communication, respectful treatment, and every reasonable effort to avoid unnecessary interruptions in their medication.
