Everything their sales rep told me was a lie. The service cost half again as much i was told it would, the equipment cost 3 times what it does off the shelf at amazon, and its all broken with in the first year. All 3 cameras are dead, all the doors sensor that were just taped up fell off and shattered, i can't access the control panel and the app stopped working within three months. This company is extremely deceptive and dishonest. You are forced into a 5-year contract, which auto-enrolls you for an additional 5-year contract term unless you follow their convoluted service termination process, which can easily be manipulated in their favor. According to the very fine print on the contract, you must initiate a termination of service request by mail (no options for email or call-in to customer service), 30 days prior to the end of the contract term. They can very easily say they never received the mailed notification and you can easily be duped into another 5-year contract term. We initially got their service and were told that we could cancel at the end of the contract term. We moved homes, and to a different state; within two years. However, we continued to pay the remainder of the contract in order to fulfill the contractual obligations. We then attempted to cancel service recently, as our contract had ended, we were told we didn't follow their steps for termination. They are now stating we've been entered into an additional 5-year contact and the only way to opt out is to pay an exorbitant $1850 termination fee, which is just ridiculous and straight up theft - considering we honored the initial contract despite not gaining any benefit of their service. We went by what the initial sales rep had stated, only to later find out that this was not true. This company has intentionally lied and made the service termination process unnecessary difficult in hopes of trapping customers. I would avoid this company like the plague. When we explained to customer service of our circumstances, they adamantly refused any options and stated that the new contract has started and we would have to pay the early-termination fee. If it were possible to leave 0/5 stars, it would be a better assessment of our experience with this crooked company. If you see an Amp Smart salesman at your door, slam it shut!! They will tell you they want to make your house a "showcase house" and offer you VIP pricing, you don't find out until later that you are being suckered into a 5 year contract and if you want to cancel you owe the full term balance. I foolishly signed up with them but within a day noticed all sorts of problems. The door bell monitor/camera worked on and off and one of the door sensors literally broke off after I closed the door with moderate force. I called their customer service to complain only to receive an automated message saying they were only open 8-5 pm Mountain Time. Then I called the sales man and he said he'd have the tech call me and he never did. Luckily, there is a 3 day window to cancel and receive a full refund and I was able to get out of it. Please don't use Amp Smart. They have poor quality, bad customer service, and their salesmen and techs are Mormon college students with minimal training. It's a summer job to them. We signed up for this service a little over 3 years ago and was told by the salesman that it converts to month to month after the term. We just sold our house and attempted to cancel but was informed we would have to wait 3-5 business days for someone to contact us. After 5 business days we were called and told we were locked in for another 32 months and had to either move the system or have the new home owners take it over. As we went back and forth the line went dead and now I'm stuck in limbo because there is no number to call but customer service which will have someone reach out to you in 3-5 business days!!! This has been one of the worst security systems I have ever had. I wish I had never signed up for it and the contract is much too long that I can't break it. The doorbell doesn't work, rings constantly, the security system randomly goes off scaring my pets and myself endlessly, and I am not even sure the fire alarm is active because I have burnt food I am cooking to the point where a normal fire alarm would signal and yet AMP does nothing. I would NOT recommend this company. When I call customer service they read a script, the Supervisors never respond to a call and it just overall is the worst! Predatory company. I called multiple times and told them I wanted to cancel, instructed them not to renew my contract, and was just going to continue making payments until my 3yr contract was up. Keep paying $71/mo. Called again when I thought I only had 1 payment left, and was told I still had 31 months left on my contract! It WAS up back in May when I originally thought, the customer service rep LIED to me, and they auto-renewed my contract for ANOTHER 3 YEARS!! And they wouldn't budge, regardless of who I spoke with. And the reason I was cancelling? Their product sucks. It was always glitching and offline, or our monthly upload limit was full (which we were not told about when we signed up, btw) so it wasn't recording. Be careful with door sales people. The lady knocked on our door and sold us a security system fantasy that just happened to be not true. They used my bank account for an installation fee and a monthly payment which all she told me I'd be changed for is the installation fee until next month. That got me looking into their company.. $2500 to cancel a 5 year contract.. I may as well keep the contact right !? They trick you into staying in the contract bc if you pay to get out of it you may as well keep the service. Then they need 60 notice of cancellation or they'll auto renew you 5 year term. The contract stated they could raise rates at anytime even though the salesperson said it'd never go up. The contract also includes in some areas/cases you, the buyer have to provide permits in order for THEM to send help to your home in case of an emergency!LUCKILY, we were within our 3 business day grace period and was able to cancel services in time enough to get away from this company. I was locked into a 60mon/5yr contract with AMP Smart for a home security system that began back in July 2017. The company service was adequate, it was my first owning a home and the first time getting monitoring. A door to door salesperson happened to pitched me at I time that was convenient for me, so I signed up. Fast forward to the present, that respective contract with them expired last summer in 2022. This year I decided to go with ADT for many reasons. I have already had my AMP equipment uninstalled by the ADT tech and had the ADT equipment installed and the new system has been activated. So I contacted AMP in order to cancel my services, the day after I began a new contract with ADT. The CS rep tells me they need to send me to the "Loyalty" department (which is typically the team that tries to retain current customers) but they aren't open. So I send an email requesting cancellation, per their suggestion. Today, April 6, 2023, I received a call from AMP Smart from said loyalty department, telling me that in their contract it states you have to give them a 30 day notice before a contract is up or you're renewed automatically. I certainly didn't receive a renewal notice. No communication whatsoever. Frankly, I am not going to continue to do business with a company that conducts deceptive business practices. read more

I could write a complaint the length of War and Peace concerning this company. Nonstop trouble with the doorbell camera. Tech tried selling me that it was a connection problem by the original installer. I saw the the connection, it wasn't pretty but the wire was making contact with the terminal. Okay, whatever. Still had problems. Camera was intermittent, doorbell was intermittent. They replaced the doorbell camera. Same tech told me if I still had problems it was house wiring to doorbell chime. Really? The chime was wireless and we had doorbell set to digital meaning it rang through the panel. AMPSMART denied this conversation took place. That is an untruth (polite word for "lie"). Doorbell camera was still intermittent. Then it started chiming 20-30 times a day. Camera caught nothing. Woke us up at night. We taped it up with six layers of tape and it still chimed. Finally unplugged the damn thing. After miscommunication on AMPSMART's part, they are expected to arrive today to replace the doorbell camera. I'd be surprised if they even show up. Complaint to BBB was pointless. AMPSMART denied any culpability. Currently have a complaint to the Utah state consumer complaints. UPDATE: AMPSMART tech just showed up. He walked off after I asked him if I could video the installation. AMPSMART is a corrupt company and if you do business with them after reading this, it's on you. UPDATE 2: Jason M. responded almost immediately requesting I contact him via email. I did immediately. No response from Jason M. Another example of AMPSMART's service after you sign a FIVE YEAR CONTRACT. Don't do business with this company. You've been warned. UPDATE: Contacted Jason M. again and said if you want to help, cancel our contract with no early termination fees and pay for shipping their garbage back. THEY BROKE THE CONTRACT BY NOT PROVIDING A WORKING SYSTEM. As expect, no response. UPDATE: Here's what AMPSMART's loyalty dept (WTF?) told how to return the indoor camera using this specific USPS envelope. STAY AWAY FROM AMP/Guardian! These company's are scammers! The technicians were very sly in having my grandfather sign a contract that lasted for 5 YEARS! He did not know until I told him. He did not mind paying $57.99/month until we were slammed with a $89.99 bill charge. We immediately canceled the contact after being lied to by one of the customer representatives from Guardian Protection Services. We had to pay the early termination fee of $1,250. The system that is installed in the house is a Honeywell Lynx Touch L5210. We paid $57.99/month for just for 6 crappy door sensors and just a panel. NO HOME AUTOMATION AND CAMERAS AT ALL! I took down the panel and replaced it with a GE Simon panel. It works great and best of all I got all the parts that work with the system off of eBay and it really works. I have installed 19 door and window sensors, 3 smoke detectors, 1 Carbon Monoxide detector and 3 keychain remotes. All for under $400. I even installed a phone system called the OBi200 and it allows me to have access to send text or email messages to my phone when the alarm goes off. It's a very small unit and it sits on your desk and it can support almost all fax machines All for just $15.00 a year with OBIExtras. This can replace your old landline system. You don't need a computer to run 24/7! Like I said before, don't waste your time with these people and get something that can save you money! Such as doing a DIY alarm system. read more

The doorbell and cameras have not worked for over a year now. Attempts to trouble shoot the problem with their customer service department have been a waste of time. Also have medical monitor for my wife to use, but rather than call me, when she pushes the button, they called my 18 year old son. We tried to correct the issue with them, but to no avail. We signed up for this service bc the sales guy assured us that when we moved the company would transfer our services with no charge to the new home. We planned to move within the year so it was important that we were able to transfer services since they wanted us to sign a 5yr contract. When it came time to move we called to setup the move. The technician only comes out to our area once a week so that meant we had to wait a couple of weeks to get it scheduled. Also, we were going to have to pay extra to have our cameras and doorbell installed at the new house.(definitely not what the sales guy assured us of) The day came and I took off of work to be there. They guy never showed and we had to call and find out what happened. They didn't offer us a reason just said that we had to reschedule. Great, we have to wait another week. Usually wouldn't be a big deal, but our new house is over an hour drive from work, and my four daughters are at home for the summer. Having an alarm system is important. Not to mention we are still being charged for this service that we have not had for a couple of weeks now. So now it's a week later and we have another appt. another missed day of work...and another no show no call. Again we have to call the company more than once to figure out what is going on. After my husband being on hold for over 20mins a third time I called from my phone and got through to someone. ZACH to be specific. From the get go he was a jerk. And at this point all I really wanted is to cancel services and move on. The whole conversation was Zach telling me that he would not and could not cancel services that although they are not providing us services, canceled multiple apps. Amd lied tonis from the get go that they were not at fault and would not cancel the service. He then tried to offer compensation for a transfer fee of $85 which we were never told they would be charging in the first place. And be compensated for a portion of our missed services. Umm what?? What about my missed work and frustration for being stood up twice. What about the fact that I am going to have to go another week without services? When I asked to peak with someone who would be able to cancel my services he said that no one there would do it. Finally after more than 20mims of back and forth, I got transferred to Jessica. She was equally clueless and couldn't assist. I was told the technician was in an accident this wee but she didn't know why he stood us up last week and she didn't care about what happened last week. That I was being unreasonable bc I wanted to cancel after beingied to, stood up twice, and given abhorrent customer service. When she offered me a $50 gift card for my missed work, I explained that two days missed was far more than $50 and she said well if that's the case then compensation shouldn't matter and I shouldn't need it. I guess if you make more money then you are supposed to be ok with being walked all over and scammed. And the fact that that I am paying for something that we are not getting doesn't matter. Oh and I got hung up on. Now to be fair I did have little patience to hear Jessica regurgitate the same bs that Zach did. And I wasn't gonna be ok with a $50 gift card only to have to miss work a 3rd day and probably be stood up again. And by the way it all sounded they only have one technician that services our area,and he was now out of commission. Which means our services probably wouldn't have been scheduled for a couple of weeks! But they sure did take out June payment out of the account right on time!!! After they installed the new system they had someone call my dad to confirm. My dad is hard of hearing and my dad told the salesman he could not here what they were saying and the salesman said oh just say yes. After my folks received 2 bills, one from ADT and another from AMP. dad called ADT and they said no they are not affiliated with AMP. I received a phone call from this company saying they'd install a security system in my home that's valued at anywhere between $800-$1200. In exchange, they would put a sign in my yard to advertise their business. I found out that the monthly service fee is $40 +. I let the rep know that it wasn't in my budget at this time. I repeated this 10 x's. He kept telling me I could prioritize my monies. I finally said that I could stop feeding my puppy & he laughed & said that was an idea. If I could apply zero stars to this review I would have. This company AMP Security Systems who does not own their own equipment but sells for Guardian Protection Services is the biggest scam I have ever came across in my 60 year life, right in the public's face. My 86 year old mother lives in an adult mobile home park which is gated and does not allow any solicitors. A third party solicitor was able to gain access to my 86 year old mother's mobile home park and knock on her door. Even though my mother already had an easy to use and understand security system installed at her home and already up and running (Life Alert) this same AMP Security salesmen ignored this fact and talked my mother into his newer upgraded hot shot Guardian Security system with all the bells and whistles (Honeywell). He told her that all of the equipment was FREE.. What the AMP Security System salesmen did not tell her is that she was signing a 5 year written contract with no bail out for $60 dollars a month (direct debit) at more than $3,750.00 dollars for this new system weather she liked it or not. The Contract was written in super small print and mom is super honest with a big heart and trusted this third party salesmen from AMP Security. Guardian came out and removed my mom's simple easy to use Life Alert system and replace it with a honeywell system which tapped into her furnace/air conditioner wiring as well. This system was so complicated that my mother was having me come by all of the time to re-set the heater or air conditioner or some alarm would be going off she did not understand, and needed to be turned off. We opted to remove the system, we called Guardian who said since my mother signed a 5 year contract with the third party AMP Security salesmen there was nothing Guardian Security Systems could do. They were now holding my mother hostage for $3,800.00 and the five year contract. Even thought the original third party AMP Security System solicitor illegally entered my mothers gated community to get the contract signed. After weeks of contacting Guardian by phone and with detailed letters they ignored, we removed the Honeywell/Guardian equipment cutting it off the wall and throwing it all in the trash. We called Life Alert back and my mothers has her easy to understand easy to use security system back up and running now. This all did not happen without a cost to her. She had to pay a heating and air conditioning professional to come out and remove and rewire her furnace and air conditioner at a cost of almost $300. My mother now is receiving at least one call per day from Guardian people playing stupid and saying that they are not getting an emergency signal any longer from her home to their equipment, (which in the AMP salesmens terms was my mom's equipment free). Probably cannot get that signal from the city dump. I will be taking them to Federal court soon. You have been warned about AMP Security Systems & Guardian buyer beware. !!!!!!! read more

Anyways, they came in and installed a panel and ONE wireless sensor, my house was already wired with full coverage, they are wanting $2k for cancelling after almost 2 yrs of service. Very pushy salespeople. Came home to find a guy in my house talking to my wife. She had told him we weren't interested, and when she said I would be home soon, he decided to wait. He wouldn't take no for an answer, offering me new deals. After a long while, I finally gave in hoping to just cancel the service before the install. But little did I know they already had installation people waiting in the neighborhood to install. They were at our house until almost midnight working on installing (while we were trying to get our kids to bed). AMP came to Nashville 2 years ago when we signed our contract. The only times I've had to call was to change payment methods and recently to get information on a future move. I've always received great customer service. Anytime our system has went off guardian is quick to call. And the one time I was at work and a tenant accidentally set the fire alarm off and they couldn't get in touch with me or my husband, they sent the fire station out. It made me feel safe and they are quick to respond. I wish they serviced the new state we are moving to. Hopefully I'll find someone just as reliable. read more

Decided to give these folks a try. Flags went off from the beginning. The price kept changing and the technicians didn't know how to wire the camera doorbell to the existing doorbell wiring. They promised to come back the next day and complete the repair because they were missing a part. We agreed but they never came back! I immediately canceled the contract. No way I'm giving them a second chance to stand me up! The customer service people were prompt and very polite and canceled the contract quickly. The technicians didn't Know what they were doing. When they removed the system I realized my existing system no longer worked. Well it appears that the technicians took the old mainframe with them when they left! They also broke the doorbell! I have had nothing but constant issues with this company from day one. A door to door salesmen shows up at my home on 9/23/2020 at 4:30pm to try and sell us a security system and that was my first red flag. The salesmen proceeded to come in to discuss security system options and asks if we would like to go ahead and sign up. I tell the salesmen that we will discuss it and get back to him. The salesmen proceed to tell us we are eligible for "free" equipment with installation. He specifically said "free". So, my daughter agreed. That evening the installer shows up with the "free" equipment we were getting. The salesmen also tell us that our payments will be auto drafted. Fast forward 3 months and nothing has been auto-drafted unknowingly to us and now we have 3 late payments on our credit for a bill we thought was going to be auto-drafted. 11/11/20 my daughter called in to find out why the bills weren't being drafted & discovered they input the wrong date. Marsha H. in accounting refused to correct the billing date. I then receive a letter dated 11/30/20 demanding payment plus $20 for each late payment. I immediately contacted Marsha on 12/17/20 who still refused to correct the billing date. I called back and spoke with Devin in accounting who called me a "liar" and was beyond unprofessional. I then contacted customer service and was referred to Jessica. Jessica and I had a discussion on 12/18/20 wherein I advised her of the mess their installer made and sent pics, billing not set up correctly, and wanting to cancel the contract. I also advised that my cameras had not been working for 3 weeks and was unable to get them back on-line using their instructions. Jessica said she would have a tech contact me to get the equipment reset and working. This happened shortly afterwards. Jessica then called back that afternoon to receive payment. 12/21/20 Megan called and stated she would have Jessica call back as the tech did not complete the repairs as required. 12/23/20 Jessica called back wherein I advised that Nate (their tech) was 2 hours late, didn't fix everything he was supposed to claiming it wasn't their fault, and what he did fix he did a shoddy job leaving caulk or putty everywhere. 12/24/20 Jessica called back and asked me to send the photos to Zach (supervisor) and I cc'd her as well. Jessica stated she would be sending me a $50 gift card for the "frustration and inconvenience". Zach responded to the email and rescheduled for Nate to come and correct everything after the holidays. 12/30/20 Jessica called to see if everything had been completed properly this time, wherein I said it was as good as it will get and asked where the $50 gift card was. Jessica said that since they sent Nate back out that she wasn't sending it. We argued over that because that was not what she said in the phone conversation. Jessica then put me on hold to check with "upper management" and agreed to send out the gift card as originally promised. 3/1/21 Tim in accounting called stating he was checking in and letting me know that the 12/28 payment was returned plus the $20. I was confused and emailed him a copy of the bank statement showing where nothing was submitted to my bank by AMP Smart and there wasn't a payment returned. Tim had no response and stated if I wanted to cancel I would have to contact customer service. I told him I had already told them to cancel my contract back in the beginning of December and it has yet to occur. I also requested the legal department contact information, which he refused to provide. Tim said he would check with Jessica on what occurred with my account and call back in a month. Since the very beginning (6 months) we have also had issues with our equipment not working properly. Our doorbell camera has NEVER worked correctly, and I've given up calling because all they do is a reset (which I have done about 10 times) which never helps the problem. I literally have Amazon drop things off touching my door and the doorbell camera doesn't pick it up. Both outdoor security cameras on the front and back of our home don't work well either. I have spent countless hours trying to get the brand-new cameras to work because tech support wants to charge ridiculous fees to come out and correct their issue. I've had nothing but issues from their accounting department to their loyalty department to upper management refusing to cancel my contract despite the multiple requests. I've requested several times to just take their equipment back and close my account. I have no desire to keep equipment and keep a relationship with a company who has no regards for their customers, their homes or time. It has been CONSTANT issues with this company and I just really have zero desire to continue business with them.
