I have been with AMP Smart since 2018. When I signed up the process was simple, easy, no pressure. Signed, Installed, used. When my 5 years was about to renew in 2023 I received a courtesy call offering a free new camera and a contract renewal. "ok, fine, no problem". Now contract will expire in May of 2026, no biggie. The next time I needed service I could not get through to a person with "No one is available" multiple times over weeks. When I did reach someone there was a fairly extensive language barrier that was an effort to overcome. during my weeks of conversations i discovered that AMP Smart had merged with a company called Titanium in January of 2023. It turns out the contract renewal was automatic 5 year renewal (after the signed addendum for an additional 3 years). After receiving an incredibly high dispatch cost estimates and also a very high hardware replacement option, i was offered to pay $25 more a month for "extended support" that covered hardware. This was previously part of my default contract, but apparently not any more. I made the decision to cancel service after that. It turns out this company is geared to disallow or prevent contract termination. When i called to verbally cancel the contract I was advised "you can only cancel in writing to a particular address". I did so, sent a cancellation letter advising I would no longer be using the services as of the day of the writing of the letter. They advised it could take up to 60 days to confirm receipt of the letter. When i sent a certified letter with signature, it was received 2 days later per FedEx. It took a month and a half for them to acknowledge it had been received "officially". When I called to support ask to pay out the remainder of the contract and complete this transaction I was told "you still have to pay monthly to the end of the term of your contract" to which i solidly disagreed as both the initial contract and the addendum state: *** Initial Contract section 11: *** If You cancel Your Monitoring Agreement early, an early termination fee shall be charged of $1,850 or the balance owing on the Monitoring Agreement, whichever is less *** Signed Addendum contract Section D: *** If you cancel Your Monitoring Agreement and/or this Addemdum early, an early termination fee shall be charged of $1850 or the balance owing on your agreements, whichever is less. For both of these my buyout would have been 10 months remaining at $61.17 for a total of $611.70. I called support again, and the person advised "I will send a request to our management for a buyout amount, you should receive it via email within 5 days" I called support after the 5 days and was told "The written notice you send was only to prevent automatic renewal, but you still have an active contract until May of 2026. You can only terminate your contract if you sell the home, or the signatory is deceased." which is nowhere in even the fine print. The support person summarized that basically "It is policy that we have to tell you that, so that is the official stance our hands are tied." I called support again and asked that they could escalate this, i have been advised "Nothing may be possible, but I'll leave a note on cancellations department manager's desk" I asked him to actually note in my account the details of our call, as leaving a written note doesn't work from a legal standpoint. For the life of me I cannot understand why "I will pay you the amount I owe till the end of the contract which would be $611.70 dollars right now with a credit card, and we'll call this closed" isn't an option a company would be willing to process. Buyer beware, once you sign up, you will not be able to cancel your contract after the five year contract ends. The Company never emails you back confirming they received your cancelation notice, you only receive a phone call telling you what you want to hear. AMP smart will continue to charge your account and they will automatically signed you up for another five years and ignore every request to canceled until you literally take them to court. read more

AMP customer for 6+ years. My monthly service has nearly doubled in the that time. Tried to cancel but I had 3 months left on the contract. To cancel the auto-renewal, I was instructed to reply to an email that they never sent. Now my contract has automatically renewed and they are not honoring my previous request even though it was documented in their system. Reading other reviews, this does not seem uncommon. I suspect this is common enough to warrant a class action lawsuit. read more

If I could give them a rating of -10 stars, I would gladly do so. We started service with AMP Smart in 2012. Their service was neither good nor bad. The problems started when we decided to switch providers. Their website had no way to get to any of our account information. The only thing that happened whenever I tried to select the Account link was a message that the accounts part of their system was down for maintenance. The maintenance window lasted several years. I tried calling them numerous times and just got an uncooperative sales operator who insisted on asking why I wanted to cancel the service and didn't provide any path to actually cancel. Twice, they said that they would pass my request to their "cancellation" department and that I would be called back. I never received a callback. Since we paid them electronically, I had no address information to write to them. I found a couple of addresses that I found on the internet and sent certified letters to both. These letters were returned as being undeliverable. I finally halted the electronic payment to force them to send me an invoice. Once I had the address from an invoice, I sent them another certified cancellation request. This letter was accepted by them, but I heard nothing in reply. I then tried calling them again and reached more uncooperative agents. They did tell me that the cancellation letter had been added to my account, but that I still had to keep paying for their service until July 2027, the end of the five year term. As I had never been able to access any account information, I had no idea of either the length of the term or its end date. The original service agreement does not seem to have any information of the length of the term or its renewal/end date. If you are considering using AMP Smart or Safe Home Security, I sincerely DO NOT suggest that you subscribe with them. read more

I signed a 3 year contract on 12/19/22. I called on 12/5/25 to cancel. I was informed that my contract stated they needed this 60 to 120 days prior to end of contract. Yep, I missed this on the teeny, tiny writing on my contract. I was told it was a state law. It is, kind of. But automatically renewing my contract for one year is not an Indiana law, that is their choice. I was told that in some states, it renews for just a couple months. I was also told a supervisor would call me back within 24 hours. That was more than three days ago. read more

DO NOT sing a contract with this company!! I have been stuck in my contract for 10 years now. I trusted the polite salesman who sold me the system and did not read the fine print as closely as I should have. A little over 5 years of use we decided we no longer wanted the system. We called to cancel. We had already auto renewed for another 5 years. You have to contact them in writing several month before the auto renew date to cancel. We did not do that. When I said I would just stop paying, I was threatened with lawsuits and even bigger charges due to breach of contract. I gave into my fate and continued to pay monthly for 5 more years. I sent them a notice of cancelation in fall of 2024. I got a response that they had received my notice and said no further action was required. Guess what, they went ahead and auto renewed my 5 year contract. I called and spoke with someone today. A Lizzy at Ext 2059. She was very unprofessional and even tried to gaslight me about the safety of my family. She told me several times, "Don't you want to keep your family safe!" I was livid and wanted to come unglued. I asked you speak with a supervisor. She refused to transfer the call. She said they would have to find the letter and send it to the cancelation department. I kept asking her why that didn't happen when I sent it to them 9 months ago. I have never experienced such horrible customer service from a company ever. AMP is terrible. The service went to crap. I tried to cancel. Their payment portal online has been down since December. When I try to call, either no one answers, or they can't accept a payment. I get a bill every month with late fees with no way to pay. I wrote a letter to cancel, but they continue my service. If yelp offered ZERO stars that would be my review. Let's go back in time; apx 8 years ago My home had Vivint Security, I wasn't disappoint with them nor was I jumping for joy with them either. I nice young gentlemen about 4:30 in the evening knocked on our door: my wife spoke with him at length on our front porch. Man o man this "kid" was good, hook line 'n sinker. Told my wife that Vivint was going bankrupt and was leaving their customers w/o service & not telling them, yet still billing if not closing the account and demanding full payment; you know "the works"! By the time 6pm rolled around I had him, his partner and another individual in my home adding sensors and drilling my exterior doors, drilling my garage and having us sign a TWO YEAR contract. They rolled up out of there about 8pm leaving a mess on our nook where they installed a new panel, my floors were they drilled doors, and dinged the F*CK out of the hood of one of our vehicles, I would guess from dropping something on the hood I don't know I was just P*ss*d, we installed the app and logged in and set everything up. All good, right... you would think so, BUT NO, let me assure you it was not. Within two weeks the swap-over of pre-existing sensors & door lock was still not syncing to their system. After multiple calls and rerouting (once we found a number that would actually get us to someone) "Someone will be out next Tuesday between 12p to 4pm to get all that fixed for you. Thank you for your addition to the AMP Family." Well, Tuesday came and went, Wednesday came and went, the following Tuesday came and went as did the next Wednesday; all of which I hand to rearrange my work schedule so I could be at the home as my Wife works for The State (and you gotta get those days submitted and approve in advance), so it was up to me and I wanted to be sure to get all of what she wanted done and I had issues with. So, we called again, again, again, and again: the run around from CS to CS agent, if we even got somebody (or machine) to actually answer the call. the window sensors synced after I removed them and re-added them under the master code (that was fun to figure that out after some research online), but the garage to home door never did connect nor unlock, yes UNLOCK, if you lock it it does NOT unlock, unless you take it apart and manually twist, so we went out and found a heavy brass "hotel swing lock" and installed it w/added reinforcements on the 'wall side'. At the 18 month mark we decided after all the issues and the lies that were told to us in the sales pitch; I.E. Vivint was going bankrupt, which we found out was a lie when we called to turn off our system, and other unresolved 'n ongoing thing that just bothered us. Well, the very "Karen" customer service agent explained that "no, no Ms. M**x, your contract is a 36 month w/a earl termination fee of 400$ and half." I butted in "EXCUSE me! 3 years! and this is Mr. M**x and that is not what was told to us nor what we signed." "Well, sir, if you let me finish; half of the remaining of the contract. And we are not bound to what the contracted sales people say, but you are bound legally to what you signed." That brought that conversation to a QUICK close. Finally six months before the end of the contract; I once again spend a considerable amount of time trying to find someone I let him know we want to terminate at the end of the contract and why. He explains it has to be done via email or by certified mail, however, if we extended the contact out 12 months He could have someone out to fix all the issues the following Monday. Well, I stupidly agreed and made it clear during the verbal signing (the recorded yes) that all issues had to be resolved and the repair individual had to be out that Monday. Surprisingly, the repair person actual arrived on time and "fixed" the garage door, and added a couple more window and replace a couple more sensors. And now for the rub... In the mail i received my copy of the new...NEW contract; the previsions contract was not extended for 12 months, no no no, a whole new contract was made for an addition FIVE YEARS. And right there in the 'last page' the agreement page was my "signature". Since then, we have tried multiple time to contact them about issues and such, but have not reached anyone or just bounce from automated voices "helping us". Now we are coming up again to the end of this contract, now to cancel or make sure the contact does not renew or extend. In short: AVOID THIS COMPANY. read more

ZERO stars. Don't let this terrible "security" company into your home, they are worse than the criminals you are trying to keep out. It all started in 2020 with shady door-to-door tactics that rush you through initialling a screen. I'm still dealing with the fallout of that decision more than four years later. The equipment was faulty from the beginning and rarely worked except to make false police runs on at least two occasions. A service tech installed some sort of signal booster even though the router and main control unit were within 25 feet of the doorbell camera. The system still didn't work and I couldn't see who was at the door 9 out of 10 times. Turned it all off within months and continued to pay on time each month anyway. Sold my home and the buyers wanted nothing to do with the system, so I had to pull it all out and threw it in a box. It was just as effective in the box as before. I echo other reviews that cite CS giving you the run around when you try to cancel. They reference the contract end date and tell you that you can't cancel yet. Three calls later and I found out that the auto renew had kicked in and I owed them for the entire new contract. No attempt to negotiate or discuss further on that cancellation detail hidden in the contract. No explanation of their tactics in CS calls. Complete garbage. It's gotten out of hand at this point. I maintain a credit score at or around 800 and it hasn't been easy. I was advised by a lawyer that I stop payment. I did and now have been getting collections calls non stop. This is not an easy choice to make between outright extortion or wreaking my credit. Do not sign anything with this company. Research other means of home security or they may end up costing you more than an outright burglary. read more

I don't think they deserve any stars! i have been with AMP Smart since 2020 and I find the company is not transparent and the customer service regarding termination of service has been intentionally difficult. I sold my home as of 9/5/25. I have called the company 3 times in the last 60 days. First call, after explaining that my house was listed for sale and asking how to end my service, I was told that a supervisor would have to call me with that information. No call was ever received. A few weeks later I made a second call. My house was under contract. This time the agent told me that I would need to send an email stating I wished to cancel, along with a copy of proof of sale; it would take 30-60 days to process the cancellation and I would continue to be charged monthly. When I questioned this and asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told the supervisor was away from his desk, but the agent was sending him an email with my request that he call. I informed him that I was told I'd be called back previously and never received a call. What could possibly take 30-60 days? We live in a computerized business world. How long does it take to read an email, look at a settlement document, open an account on the computer and press a cancel button? Unsurprisingly, the supervisor never did call. I called for a third time 9/22/25, and was told by that agent that I needed to send a certified letter express my wish to cancel and include a copy of proof of the sale of my house. Again, the supervisor was unavailable- this time on the phone with another customer. I said that I had waited on hold a very long time so I would wait for the supervisor to finish his call. The agent gave me the line that he'd send the supervisor an email to call me. I said that I had been told that twice before and never got a call, so I'd wait. The agent insisted I couldn't hold; I was adamant that I had waited in line for my call to be answered and wanted to hold. The agent hung up on me. So, now I'm rather certain that I will never get the call back. The company customer log-in page is shut down, and I have no idea what I really need to do to cancel, as I've been told different things. I'd also like them to point out in my signed contract from 2025 where the policy is written, but there is no one to be held accountable. Wish I could give ZERO STARS. THIS BUSINESS IS A SCAM! We had titanium security and it was ok, because we never needed them. We decided to switch to ring to save money. We canceled in Feb 2023. They insist on a call AND a letter or email. Such a joke as they get all your info when you call, but that's not good enough. They make it just a little more difficult. My husband sent a letter and now we find out in December of 2024 that they never received it and have been charging our credit card $99 a month for almost 2 years. My husband didn't realize they had switched names and thought the charge was for something else. We only found out because we had fraud on our account and cancelled our credit card and Amp smart had no problem contacting us then and even charging us a cancellation fee.....we had canceled almost 2 years prior!! I changed the battery and that didn't work. I called tech support and they just wanted to send a tech out for 99. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they will have a supervisor call me. AMP Smart purchased out my current provider. Since they have taken over from Titanium I have had the following issues: 1) Inability to answer basic technical questions on my 2GIG Edge Alarm Panel, requiring me to contact the manufacture directly. 2) Extensive wait times to reach a representative who usually did not understand the question and provide inaccurate information. 3) The Doorbell Camera began working intermittently. 4) The panel and CO Detector failed I spoke with the company (Miguel) who confirmed that the equipment needed to be replaced. He offered to upgrade to a new system. When I spoke with him a few days later to finalize, he stated that the company would not honor their agreement. Due to all of the above, I researched other alarm companies and when I called to cancel the service, they informed me that they would still assess a $334 early termination fee. Give the poor customer service and the refusal to honor the commitment that they made to upgrade the system, they should NOT enforce the early termination fee. read more

I canceled my contact within the specified dates and have confirmation from the company it was canceled. I spoke with a customer service rep on the phone and the call was recorded and he verified specifically what I needed to do to make sure the contract did not auto renew. They are continuing to debit my account the monthly service after the contract ended. This is fraud as I have not authorized they to take any money from account and they no longer have a valid contract as it was canceled. I spoke with someone again after my contract expired and he said that it was not canceled and I said I have verification from AMP that they acknowledged my contract was not to renew and he said we moved offices and we just got access to email this morning. I said then pull up them email because I had resent it multiple times and he said he cannot do that because everyone was fired. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE! There is a reason for all the complaints. Their sales person sold us a bunch of components then they partially installed the system but never finished. We reached out continuously until months later he left the company and left us with a non-functioning system and we were stuck in an expensive contract. We switched to Ring so we could have a working security solution, but have not been able to get out of our contract, despite tens of hours of phone calls and many emails. $4,000 down the drain and still paying monthly, for absolutely nothing. Terrible!!!!! They lie about what they will do and what it cosst, then when a technician shows up they tell you that this is extra even though it was part of the package. DON'T DO IT. I signed up for this system years back. Their sales rep said their system was superior to ADT as they had local monitoring centers, their system would still work if severed from the power source, it would send a message to the monitoring center, and their tech was better. They were great for the first few years, living up to all of this. I was happy with them and recommended them to my real estate clients. As the initial 5-year contract was winding down, they reached out to say that the system was due for an update and that the initial keypad would need to be replaced. We did that, and it came with another 5-year contract. Then, things went to hell. The system sends texts that the doors are open when they clearly aren't, the system doesn't go off when it's supposed to and does go off when it's not supposed to, they don't call from the "monitoring center" anymore when the system goes off like they used to- and when I do speak to someone, it's in an overseas call center. They've talked me through doing an update via phone, they've sent out a tech to fix it- the tech claimed there wasn't anything going on. The glitches continue. I called to cancel my contract as they've breached the agreement; they want to charge me the balance of the contract (Ends 12/2026 at $81.56 per month) plus a early termination fee. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I've been telling my clients to use literally ANY other company- even a recording of dogs barking is better than this system. I also plan to file the BBB. read more

This company is awful. My doorbell camera has not worked in over a year and it is not covered under the warranty - apparently certain equipment is only covered for 90 days. The only way to get it fixed is to enter into another contract with upgraded faulty equipment that is only covered for 90 days, while the contract is 5 years. My contract was up in March, I tried to cancel my service and I was informed that I was auto enrolled into another year and there is no way out, but to pay, despite the faulty equipment. Very shady. DON'T use them. Received a new panel for our alarm system and stopped working little after a year. Told us we need to purchase a new panel at $600 and that we should have purchased a warranty, which I was under the assumption that we were. (That was my fault assuming we had the same terms on the new contract that we had with our old one.) The door bell camera works when it feels like it. I see more bugs than people who are actually at my door. We have been with them since 2017 and you would think they would want to keep their older clients happy. Not the case. the last couple people I spoke to with customer service are rude, uncaring and condescending. I will never recommend them to anyone. They were great in the beginning, but now they are a horrible company. I will unfortunately continue to pay them until my contract is up, but I will not purchase a new panel from them and will pay for another alarm company to monitor my home at the same time. I completely agree with Matt M. This company does not deserve even 1 star. This is the worst security company ever. We were with VIVIT security, Brandon Cesare, door to door representative, led us to believe he was giving us free updates since we were loyal customers. Did not mention that this was a different company. Very shady business practices to get into the house. by the time the techs swooped in to change out system we were on the hook for a 5 year contract before we realized this was Amp Smart and not VIVIT. Their equipment has never worked correctly. We are constantly on the phone with issues and problems. Rachel in customer loyalty even said that Allen Bolden CEO of the horrible company told us he WOULD NOT be interested in hearing our complaints. They are straight up crooks. Make sure to read every fine print of your contract. I knew my contract was up in may so I called in June to cancel and was told it was too late I should have read the contract you have to cancel in writing 30 days before your contract is up or you are renewed for another 5 years. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID!! I wish I could give zero stars. This is the worst security company ever!! They lock you into a 5 year contract, and then you find out the equipment rarely works. Every time I needed video of an incident on my cameras, they didn't get it. They won't work with you if you move and need to cancel service. They will try to charge you over a thousand dollars to leave. They will also auto renew your 5 year contract without telling you. Read the google reviews if you don't believe me. My last review was removed because I used personal info of the salesbeta that came to my house. Heres my review, updated to protect the safety of these conniving people: Had a visit from Alek L. With a 208 area code from AMP Smart, he gave me false information about my system. Here are the issues. 1. Was told it was monitored, and everything is uploaded via sim card to a server. False. We had a break in and the cameras werent even on. It ran out of storage space for the month, which I was not informed nor does it say anywhere in the literature that he showed me that there is a data cap, and apparently once the new month begins, you have to MANUALLY turn the cameras on via the app. I wonder, how many of my elderly neighbors, who can barely use their smart tvs, know about this? I doubt they can navigate AMPs ridiculous app and find where to turn them on. It took me 15 minutes to find it, and Im pretty good with technology. 2. I was told it has its own Sim card and reserve battery in the event thieves cut my internet and power. False again. It runs off my wifi and the battery source is equivalent to my offbrand tablet. 3. Alek told me to call him with any questions or concerns. Hard to do when the phone is off, voicemail box is full, and texts are not returned. 4. I asked him about cancelation, just in case it doesnt work out for me. He said, " Just give me a call man, we can suspend the service and when youre ready to come back, we just flip it back on." I asked about cancelation fee, whats that lookin like? His reply, " its steep, but like I said, we can just suspend it and youll be good, bro. We just really wanna have this (AMP Smart) sign visible because you are in a high traffic area, and it can bring us more business." 5. Customer service is horrible. I can barely understand what they are saying, and they repeat your words back but dont seem to comprehend what they mean. Lastly, 6. Very very very Pushy. He had his people in my home installing until past 10pm. I asked him maybe tomorrow would be best, and he assured me theyd be done before 7pm. All in all. Save yourself the money. Buy a system from costco, connect it to a terabyte hard drive, and dont do business with these people. These reviews im seeing now were not there when I had the system connected. Amazing company. Customer service with rep on the phone was top notch. They wouldn't let me off the phone till I felt 100% satisfied. In addition to deceptive contract practices, AMP Smart uses a 'call center' when they are not opened. This morning, our alarm started going off at 6 AM and the keypad appeared to be glitching because random numbers would show being pressed. This means that there was no way to turn the alarm off since inputting the code was impossible as the alarm kept showing random key presses. My wife asked the call center to note the account to have someone call us back ASAP (this was at 7:15 AM this morning). It is now 4PM and my wife called them to send someone out since they still had not called us. I was able to get he face plate off and remove the battery to reset, but still need them to come fix the thing so we don't continue to have this issue. This company has terrible service and just makes their money tricking consumers in to long contracts with ridiculous stipulations that prevent you from cancelling and auto-renew locking you in with no action on your part. read more
