The charm of this place is undeniable. The place has a nice dimly-lit, laid back vibe that makes me want to hang out all night. You seat yourself, and there are options of tables, lounge areas with couches and the bar. We opted for the bar. A friendly lady came over to us and helped us with the first round and then another for the second round, who was equally friendly. We ended up trying their hummus as well. The hummus was creamy and flavorful with a light almost whipped texture. We found out from the owner they make their own, and you can definitely tell it's got that homemade touch. The owner was also very friendly and told us some history about the place and took the time for some chit chat with us. I will have to come back when I have more time and try their extensive list of hookah options, especially the cappuccino flavor. read more

This is a review of the food only. I order the gyro entree and everything about the dish was bad except for the fries. The gyro meat was extremely dry and bland. The hummus and taziki sauce were both tasteless. The pita bread, which they gave plenty of, was also not fluffy. The fries though were extremely well seasoned. Next, the drinks. The pricing didn't match the pour. As a former bartender, you KNOW it's all about presentation. So if you're going to overcharge people for damn there .75 ounce of liquor you better fill the rest up with soda/juice or ice to create the "illusion" that you have enough liquor in your cup. Considering a shot = 1.5 ounces, if you got a GOOD tipper then occasionally 2 ounces. The hookah was actually worth the money! However, my $130 spent here was an absolute waste. Did I mention the drinks are $12/ea and the hookah was about $25. Being from Houston and not being able to find many "Black Owned" spots here, I definitely had to visit this spot. I truly hate that I had an absolutely awful experience. It was our first time at Amore Cafe and we will be back for sure. we stumbled on it on Yelp! while we were looking for a place to get dinner late on a Sunday evening. I was ready to be disappointed when we pulled up to what looked like an opimum emporium interior; but my prejudices slipped away one after next as were warmly greeted, and immediately taken care of by a friendly and patient waiter who took time to talk us through the items we were curious about. We ordered an appetizer platter to share and four different entrées. The food was very fresh and we later learned from the owner that they make everything from scratch. A good example of that were the crispy, light, and full-flavored falafels. They were nothing like the ones you get from most Mediterranean food places that pull them from the freezer, deep fry them, and bring them to your table. The same goes for the seasoned fries. I'm a sucker for healthy Mediterranean food. I tried many places but finally found Amore Cafe . What a relief. The food was delicious ! The ambiance is perfect for a date night . We ordered the falafel as an appitizer along with some hummus. All I can say is WOW. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The server recommended trying the wraps . I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and boy was I pleased. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma plate since he was super hungry from all the wonderful aroma in the place. We finished off the feast with an amore special dessert. All I can say is that I will definitely come back for a perfect night with my hubby. The service was friendly . This place is awesome, I've been to a few hookah places and so far this is my favorite. The service is amazing, the staff is a ton of fun! The atmosphere is very comfortable, they have seating spaces for a good sized group of people or just a few. They have pretty good food, and the music is a good volume that it's not bother some. Then, they only allow you to share your hookah w/ one person, our third guest was charged an additional fee to share with us. The food was okay, but took half an hour to come out. Finally, if you're there after 10pm for the belly dancer's arrival, everyone in your party has to pay an additional $10. WOW. I came here for the first time two days ago because it is close to my home, and I'm here again because it's so freaking awesome. The manager, Saeb, and his staff are such wonderful people. The hookah flavors are excellent, the decor is gorgeous and the enviroment is so chill. Perfect for relaxing and getting some work done. Plus, they sell alcohol! A San Antonio hookah lounge that sells beer and wine? Count me in.
