My wife and I recently dined at Ammoora on Saturday, June 29th and our experience was fantastic. First, this was our first time dining at Ammoora. Ammoora had been on our radar for the past few months and we were excited to try out the beautiful and unique restaurant. We were greeted warmly by the valets who took great care of our vehicle allowing us to pull right up to the restaurant and not have to worry about finding parking. Upon entering the Ammoora, we were greeted by Christina and Aiman. There were additional staff by the front hostess stand who also greeted us. The staff made us feel like we were dear family members from out of town coming to stay for the evening. We sat in the lounge, which is stunning. It feels like the decor out of a James Bond film. Sleek. Comfortable. Upscale. Mady, our server, was prompt and kind from the beginning. She greeted us very warmly and was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We asked her for cocktail and mocktail recommendations which she was eager to tell us all about a few of her favorites. I had the Ambar Sunbeam and my wife had the Souq Hamidiye. Both were unique and delicious, which would be a theme for the evening. When we were ready to order some Mezze's, Mady was able to point us to some of the most popular options. We tried the Za'atar Honey Burrata (amazing!), Awarma Hummus (the beef in the middle was incredible), Mousakhan Chicken Rolls (my wife's favorite), and the Beyti Sujuk Rolls (my favorite). The flavors were so different then the typical American cusine. Spices like cinnamon, cardamom, sumac, harissa, and others are routinely used along with pomegranate, rose, and pistachio to bring such color and vibrant flavors to everything we were trying. We could have made the Mezze our meal easily, but we saved much of what we ordered to bring home to enjoy later. Next, the main course. At this point, Aiman, the sommelier/manager helped me decide on what to order. I was deciding between the Freekeh and the Lobster and my decision hinged on the wine pairing. I was extremely grateful that I could rely on his wealth of knowledge to make my choice. I am familiar with wines from around the world but had no experience with Lebanese wines. Aiman allowed me the opportunity to sample both a terrific white and red by the glass--which was extremely gracious of him--and helped me make an informed decision on the main course. Let me just tell you, the Chateau Musar, a Côtes du Rhône style blend with grenache and syrah, was an absolute bullseye pairing for the Freekeh. So, I had the Freekeh, as you can tell, and my wife had the Lobster. Both dishes were outstanding, but the Freekeh was next-level good. Imagine having the most outstanding pot roast in the world server over the most incredible mushroom risotto with your own additional, personal-sized pot of au jus for indulgence on the side. I was torn between wanting to eat it quickly as it was one of the best things I had tasted in years, or savor it slowly. Slowly is better. The Chateau Musar and the Freekeh together were overwhelmingly good. A combination of so many flavors, spices, textures, that were hearty and satisfying in the Freekeh with what could have been a solid to stellar Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Musar made me want to be by and roaring fireplace reading a good book. The meal was one of those that you missed as you were enjoying it because you knew it would soon come to an end. Throughout the meal, Mady was attentive and sweet. Speaking of sweet, she gave us some great options for dessert. We had the Ashta Bil Asal, which we have been eyeing up online for sometime and it lived up to every bit of the hype. Arabic cotton candy--so crazy good. The clotted cream with flavors of rose, honey and orange at the bottom was incredible as well. Over-the-too good. We also tried the raspberry sorbet which was fresh and delicious. Bottom line, I am dreaming of having the Freekeh sometime soon, the Mezze's could make a meal themselves, but the best part was the service. The food and drinks were served promptly. The service was professional and attentive. The management was incredible and all the recommendations were spot on. Seriously, check this place out. It's a special occasion type of restaurant but you will not be disappointed. We can't wait to return! Thank you Mady and Aiman! read more

From the welcoming hostess to our charming and efficient server, Gigi, a lovely experience. The food is phenomenal and more than generous portions. Atmosphere was wonderful, staff was excellent. Very attentive and kind. We got three appetizers and a main to share, the food was nice and seemed authentic and fresh. However, none of the dishes really wowed us for the price point. read more

The food was quite good. However we were charged a deposit of $750 for 5 people when we made the reservation several weeks ahead of the reservation date, and this was not made clear when booking the reservation (only in the email we received after booking) On Open table it told us of charges if canceling within 3 days of the reservation. and the restaurant's website does not make clear that when booking they will charge you for an estimated cost of the meal at the time of booking and have your money for their use for weeks in advance of getting the meal. I have Never in the past of many fine dining restaurants had them collect the expected cost of the meal at the time of reservation. Then our total came to less than the deposit amount and now days later, I have not seen the refund credited to my account. I would not reserve here again because of the business practices, although the food was good. Also wine prices were outrageously high. out bottle of wine was charge $110 and on Vivino, it was priced as a $27 bottle of wine, What an absurd markup. read more

Incredible ambiance and just beautiful dining room. However the food, while pretty to look at, left a bit to be desired - we eat middle eastern cuisine from a variety of different low and high end places and this was just ...ok. Quite bland. Service was also meh on a very busy night so no points docked there. Overall great for a date night cause of the ambiance but don't go expecting culinary joy. read more

Ammoora was a great experience. The food was full of flavor, and everything we tried tasted fresh and well-made. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a really nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. We went around Christmas, and the place was decorated so nicely--it added to the whole vibe. Definitely one of the best spots in Baltimore for Mediterranean and Lebanese food. Will be coming back. read more

This place is GORGEOUS and feels like you are somewhere in the Mediterranean and not in Baltimore. The staff was really friendly. I thought their happy hour was a good menu to try things. I ordered the Chicken Rolls and the Bayti Cocktail from the Happy Hour menu. I ordered the shrimp hummus, beef flatbread, salmon, and ribeye from the regular menu. You can tell that there is extreme detail put in the decor and also each item on the menu. Parking: I parked on the street without a problem and walked, but they offer valet. Street parking is not plentiful. Decor & Ambiance: Just a beautifulllllllll establishment. Service: Good, our server too the time to explain whatever we asked and kept us updated on when our food was coming out. Food: Everything I had was delicious. I am very familiar with this cuisine so everything tasted just as I have remembered when I have tried similar items at other places. I would come back to try the rest of the menu and would definitely recommend. read more

Ammoora is an outstanding spot to celebrate a special event, throw a party, hang with a group of friends, or go out for a fancy date night! The ambiance is absolutely incredible and authentic to the cuisine and culture. The staff is very knowledgeable and can help you pick the perfect meal choices along with wine pairing to fit your preferences! There is nothing less than 5 stars on the menu so you cannot go wrong with anything you try! We have been back 3 times already and can't wait to make it 4! Visited it on a recent Sunday with a reservation for 8PM, had to sit at the bar and was not seated until 40 minutes after. I witnessed same party size being seated prior even though they arrived after. After being seated, ordered right away and meal took no less than 45 minutes. Waiter was polite. My party ordered Branzino meal which was great and I ordered lamb chops which was also great. Ambiance is very nice but service was lousy. Expected better from a high priced restaurant. They must improve. read more

I came a few weeks ago with friends. My friends were running a little late so I waited for them at the front of the restaurant. The servers were super kind and poured me some Syrian coffee while I was waiting. The place is absolutely stunning as many others have stated. The co-owner brought us to our tables and we chatted with her for a bit about how this restaurant came to be And she helped us order some starters. Everything was super delicious and fresh. We tried the salmon for our main, and it was our least favorite as it was overcooked. It is really cool to have such a unique place here in Baltimore but overall it is quite pricey and a bit cost prohibitive, so I will be reserving this place for special occasions. read more

Ammoora - My complementary birthday dessert - an Arab cotton candy. It was pretty strange in texture - like eating a wig. But very interesting to try! - Mediterranean Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I was speechless at the atmosphere and design of this wonderful restaurant. It is truly an art piece. Aiman the manager took very good care of us, was very accommodating and made us feel as though we were family in his home. Something you don't get at a lot of establishments let alone a very high end restaurant such as this one. Diana was our waitress and was very accommodating and welcoming as well. We took her recommendations and we very happy! The staff are dressed to match the decor. This is a very tasteful establishment. We had an assortment of Taboleh, Kibbeh, Hommus with Seabass and Lamb Shank. We had the mocktails and a few desserts. It was all incredible. Aiman and Diana both made a wonderful evening for us. We will definitely be returning and bringing others with us. What a true gem here in Baltimore. Good job, keep up the good work! read more

Poor service. Waiters are unfriedly. Took too long to bring food, no one greeting the front door, they seperate certain groups of people.

Bottom line: will I go back, yes. I think their staff may need some training on fine dining service but overall 4.5 out of 5. My friends and I (four of us) choose Ammoora to celebrate life and great news. We've wanted to try this place out since it opened for the 5-star level of service and ambiance. Fast forward to a recent Saturday evening, I arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. Upon my arrival, I was greeted promptly at the door. It was very welcoming. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. It takes you to a different place that doesn't feel like Baltimore. I decided to sit at the bar to get a drink before my friends arrived. I ordered a double Clase Azul and closed out my tab. Once my friends arrived, we were seated promptly. Here's where things were rocky. One friend ordered a double Clase Azul (I showed her my pour) and another ordered Prosecco. Our waiter leaves and comes back a few minutes later to let my friend know the cost of the class. I was mortified. She smiled and said she is aware and I pointed out that I am currently drinking a double. The waiter comes back with drinks. My other friend commented on how it was the worst Prosecco she's ever had. I said let's ask what brand it is. Maybe it's a bad brand? The waiter informed us they do not have Prosecco so they gave her Cava. Mortified again because why didn't they let us know about the substitution? She then asked for a Rose on the sweeter side and I asked for one also. At this point because of the drink issues, we still haven't put our food order in and I'm noticing other tables who were seated after us were being served food and we were starving. The waiter leaves and comes back a few minutes later to let us know they do not have a sweet Rosè. At this point, a manager did speak with us and I did let him know my displeasure. It's now been a while since we were seated and no food order. The manager said they do not have a sweet Rose but he will make something for us and if we do not like it, send it back with no problem so we ordered 3. My friends loved it and decided to stick with a Rose (which I loved). At this point, we were finally able to put in our food order and the service was a lot better. The manager did a great job of putting things back on track. My appetite was off at this point so I ordered basic items: Lentil Soup and honey Burrata (both dishes very tasty). My friends order salmon and a shrimp dish and enjoyed it. We finished our meals and drinks, closed out (no comps but didn't ask for one), and took some cute photos to commemorate our time. The last issue ended up being a restroom issue that I hope is resolved when I come back. And I am coming back but maybe I'll just sit at the bar versus a table. I do think this place has the potential to last. read more

We were so excited to try this restaurant that we were willing to make the drive up from DC. To say the experience was disappointing is an understatement. We ordered 4 hot mezze items: batata harra, sujuk rolls, musakkhan rolls and short rib hummus. The items were so disappointing that we decided to leave and not order anything else. The batata harra, which is supposed to be a browned and beautifully spiced potato dish, was horrendous. I would have rather had a Wendy's baked potato. The sujuk rolls were just pieces of sausage wrapped in thin bread and dumped on a bed of tomato sauce that was inferior to Rao's jarred sauce. The amount of effort put into the dishes was almost insulting. The meal was so mediocre that I was taken aback. The ambiance is great and the restaurant is beautiful- but does that even matter if the food is God awful? read more

A most beautiful, delicious, and elegant voyage into the the tastes, ambiance, and hospitality of the Levant (think eastern Mediterranean). Hidden in the base of the Ritz-Carlton (at the bend of Key Highway) one walks into a clean, open, and inviting space where you are warmly welcomed as a guest in their home. The service is caring and attentive. The food is creative yet brings the history and flavors of a foundational culture. A welcomed addition to top tier Baltimore cuisine. read more

The vibes were most diffidently there and I fell in love with the decor, it has a louder than normal setting for dinner so be prepared to talk slightly louder to have a conversation. We were treated very poorly. We were ignored by the host for about 5 min. He then told me that our reservation was for the lounge which was not true. He said a table in the dining room wouldn't be available for 30-40 min.We decided to sit in the lounge which was a big mistake. There were two groups of girls who were extremely noisy. He catered to the young, pretty girls and ignored us, two older couples. The first thing I ordered was sold out, so I Ordered salmon which was 45 dollars for a piece of salmon and no sides. The portions were ridiculously small and expensive. Needless to say no apologies. The food took forever to come and the waitress kept apologizing. I would not go back there and would not recommend the place. read more

Would have given the rating five stars, but our waiter hardly checked on our table. She also went missing for long periods of time. Aside from that, the restaurant sits in such a cute location in Baltimore. Fells Point, I believe. It's a family oriented Mediterranean restaurant. The ambience, 10/10. Decorated so beautifully. Upon entering, there lies the bar with a very intimate seating lounge type vibe. Super cute. Towards the back, is the dining room, consisting of tables, booths and an intimate area with a couch behind a curtain. The food was phenomenal. So fresh, flavorful, and the presentation was amazing. The drinks were good, but a little on the sweeter side. Note: there are two options for parking: valet $13 or public parking next to the restaurant, $8 an hour. read more

Really enjoyed the ambiance, service and food here. My friend had recommended this place and was truly happy I got to try it. We started in the bar area for their happy hour which was nice to have a couple of drinks and share an app. Then we went to the dining room which was a completely different vibe and experience. Everything was decorated so nicely and the staff was friendly and informative. There was also an outside area to sit that looked nice but we did not try. We shared some appetizers including the honey burrata and falafel. Everything was really good and the drinks were great. Would definitely go back! read more

Surprisingly bland food served at a slow pace. Trader Joe's offers a more flavorful hummus. Wines were equally unimpressive and staff admitted no knowledge of the current options. BAIT-N-SWITCH-OVERPRICED-SERIOUSLY MEDIOCRE FOOD-Went in October for my birthday. There was 13 of us and they put us at a long table where 7 of us had to sit against the wall with no way to get out to use the restroom unless all 7 scooted out. The table was also not conducive for good conversation. Really, really not good! Then they told us that it would be $85 per person for spreads, an appetizer, entree, and dessert but when we saw the menu there were up charges for certain appetizers and entrees (which would make it $100 + per person!)-never mentioned on phone or link given by email! Then they told us the dessert was no longer offered! My son brought a cake (not knowing to call ahead first) and we were told that there would be a plating fee for having the cake. We told them to forget it, we would just take it home. The food was at best mediocre for how expensive everything was. FAKE FANCY ALL THE WAY. To top it off, I spoke to a manager the next day to let them know about our experience and she took down my information and said she would like to follow up with me. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I don't usually write reviews but this experience was soooo bad!! read more

I would NOT recommend this place! Food was okay but the service was atrocious and the ambiance was not as expected for a supposed fine-dining experience. We got seated in the lounge area, which felt like sitting in a hotel lobby. Main restaurant hall is nice, but was not offered or shown to us. When our mezzes came, waiter explained 3 out of four of them, and simply said I am new, I do not know what is fourth mezze. He did not show courtesy to go back check and let us know. Additionally, they did not bring out the pita bread for our mezze until 15min after they initially served it. We waited another 40min after finishing our mezzo for the mains to arrive. While they were good, I would expect better quality to a high-end place. After being there for 90 min, we ordered dessert, and after waiting for about 30 min, nothing came, so we told waiter, if its not ready, ignore it and bring us the check. Minutes later waiter came with the check, without the dessert included in it. We gave him credit card. Few minutes later the owner Jay came with the dessert apologizing, we explained the whole thing to him. Soon after another waiter brought us another check with the dessert price included in it. We told him that our original waiter has already taken our credit card, to which he said he will void the bill he brought. Finally the waiter came with credit card receipt and my card for signature, there was only one receipt, no duplicate for my record. We left the place, next day I find that my credit card was overcharged by $50. I called the restaurant two days ago to look into it. I am yet to hear back from them. Definitely this is not the service one expects from a nice restaurant like Ammoora, which desires to be Michelin mentioned. read more

When I read about the new restaurant Ammoora, I knew I wanted to go immediately. In a city that's full of diversity, I was happy to learn a fine dining restaurant serving Syrian/Levantine food was opening, and coupled with the chef's story of sharing Syrian food and being a TopChef MiddleEast contestant and I was sold. Reservation: OpenTable, potential for walk in at the bar Parking: Free Valet Parking Environment: there are two sections, one by the bar with small 2 seater tables with couches/chairs, seating at the bar and a main restaurant area further down the space past the kitchen. I will say the main dining area had a more vibrant and beautiful environment but the space by the bar was lovely as well. Both had modern, middle eastern inspired decor creating a nice atmosphere. If you can request, I would recommend sitting inside the larger restaurant area. Alcohol: medium sized wine menu, fully stocked bar and a cocktail menu with about 7 signature cocktails. The cocktails were good but nothing exceptional. Food: really really good. For us, the mezzes were the star of the show. The cold mezzes we got were hummus, baba ganoush carpaccio, a deliciously creamy red pepper dip called Muhammara. Definitely get the Muhammara. Hot mezze we got were the Betyi Sujuk rolls, Kebbet Karaz and Mousakhan Chicken rolls. All were delicious but the Kebbet had a truly delicious sour cherry reduction with dry mint. Finally the mains were Short Rib Freekeh and Samke Tajen. Would recommend the short rib, the tajen was good but not as great. I can easily see a share of a main and ordering a variety of mezzes, especially if in a large group. Service: excellent. Our server knew what the dishes were. Was attentive and even helped us break some change when we asked that was unrelated to the bill. Price: this is by no means a moderately priced place. For dinner with drinks, expect to pay at least 100 per person. Great for a fancy date night of special occasion. read more

Baybeeee listen. This is premier, top tier, fancy dining at Ammoora. Me and a friend went during restaurant week and made it a point to dress up. They do have a dress code in place but I saw some people way more casually dressed than us. But if you need a birthday spot or any kind of celebration dinner, Ammoora has for you! They also quickly became packed so I'd highly recommend making a reservation. The service was also divine! Clearly it's a beautiful restaurant but being personally escorted to your table, having a waiter take the time to explain the menu to you, and frequently being checked on by the the management team really made us feel appreciated. Now for the food, it's some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Each course was impressively fresh and flavorful down to the warmed puffed bread that came with the hummus. They didn't miss a beat with the details and the food was well worth the money. The hummus came with a yummy drizzle of olive oil and was very filling! For our second course we both ordered the lamb kabobs and it was the star of the evening. Had the most perfect grilled taste that I even enjoyed the little tomatoes on the side it came with lol. The rice underneath and yogurt sauce paired deliciously with the meat. I will say the baklava was pretty average, on the sweeter side and not as soft as I'd like. I also ordered the espresso martini and it was skrong lol, but still yummy. This is the ultimate treat yourself place. read more

I love food! I love Lebanese food. This place is beautiful and the cocktails before dinner at the bar for $16 were delicious. We ordered original hummus and the eggplant carpaccio. They were good and very basic flavor profile. There was no wow factor. The puffed bread was warm but again basic. The entree selection was limited with four items; short rib, chicken skewer, salmon and cauliflower. My husband and I shared the chicken skewer and it came with two skewers with 4 pieces of chicken each. $42 for 8 pieces of cubed chicken? It came overtop 5 pieces of thin asparagus and a green sauce over it it. It was cooked well but not anything special. I couldn't even taste anything in the green sauce. Rice was a side order for $18 and yes, the rice was flavored with things in it but I can't even remember because I was so focused on the small portion. We did not finish the rice even though we were still hungry. We looked at the dessert menu and attempted to order but the one we wanted took 10 min to make (something with cheese in it) and we didn't have time so we paid our bill and for $130 (2 apps, one entry, one side, one beer and one non alcoholic drink later) we were not full and saying how Lebanese Taverna has better flavor and better portions for the price. The quality of the food to price ratio is off. It's a huge space and beautiful decorated but if they are going to compete with other upscale restaurants in the city with entry portions over $40 you better bring GREAT QUALITY AND LARGER PORTIONS. read more
